Finally a video that shows how to roll the window down. Every single one that I've seen so far has been the window stuck in the down position, or they hook up power and the window rolls down just fine. On some cars, you have to roll the window down a lot to access the window attachment bolts...which you can't do if the regulator isn't working. The string trick is awesome.

Thank you. This helped me tremendously. My wife's car had the window stuck in the down position. I needed a short term fix to get it back up and I will need up anyhow to replace the parts.thanks again.

I didn't have a new part, but was troubleshooting the driver window stuck up. After watching this I disassembled it and cleaned the stator and brushes, put it back together and the window is working. Thanks for the inspiration.

Tried using this video for my cobalt with a stuck down window. Found it much faster to pop the round metal cover off the motor. Remove a snap ring. Remove a black rubber mount. Can move the assembly with pliers. No problem.

Thank you for your video. I have a PT cruiser and the window is stuck down. Hopefully with the help of this video and a couple others I can at least get it in the up position before it rains.

All of the videos I found told you how to raise and lower it when the switch is bad, not when the motor is dead. Hope this helps. You need to use the string or you will be there for a long time trying to move the armature little by little. Let me know how you made out, thanks for watching!

@@1pcmedic where did you get the screw driver thing? Is it from one of the parts you took off the window motor? I have a window stuck in the up position and window switch on the door and the master window switch on the driver's door doesn't roll the window down. But all the other windows roll down, slowly. I need to replace all the power window motors.

@@timlyons5029 Watch :40 to 1:50 a few times, when I take the bad motor apart I use the armature without the cover to move the window. The cover keeps downward pressure on the armature just like my using the piece of wood with the hole in it. You only need the wood if the direction you need to turn makes the armature back out of the case. Turn it a little bit by hand and you will see one way makes the window go down and the other goes up. Hope this helps.....remember you need to take the cover off the motor and leave it installed on the door.

@@timlyons5029 Also the window needs to be lowered so you can access the clips to release the window from the regulator assembly. Today the regulator assembly and the motor are purchased in one piece. Better to do it once than just replace the motor. I did replace the regulator and motor...........

@@1pcmedic thank you for responding. All the videos I watched talked about the window needs to be lowered to take the motor out. Your video is the only I've found that addresses when the window motor is broken with window in the up position. Thank you.

@@1pcmedic lol, c'mon, that was funny. ... It was a little aggravating actually. Because, it was very simple, and I actually had tried it months ago, when I started this project, without success,, though. It was dark then, and cold, I think the windows were already taped for painting when I thought of trying it, etc. etc. But it didn't budge then so I just abandon hope, and proceeded. Now, I had to remove the panel, so it had to move. Mine is a little different, when you remove the motor assembly from the panel, you can see the nylon gear, so I just had to use needlenose as a key and turn it like a door knob. Very easy, less friction than a roll up window, shouldn't have gave up so easy the first time.
      Tx again. Peace

Thank you. Great video on using the string. Is there a torch or something in the background? It seems like there is the sound of a torch burning in the background.

It could be the gain on the camera mike making it more sensitive than normal, I also live on a busy road so you also hear the cars going by. Glad you liked the "string"
