@@TechDweeb I think you're right. I've been watching for about a year now ever since I moved to New York from the south, so I just went back introvert to games. Keep up the great content man!
I was just thinking the other day it would be cool if you reviewed one of these. I was looking at the cheaper ones that come with snes or genesis clone controllers but I imagine everything that matters to me was covered in this video thanks!
TechDweeb, love your content. Anyways, I have a question. In PS1 emulation, does the 2nd thumbstick have its own input, or does it just mimmick the face buttons? Im thinking of buying one of these, and this is one of the dealbreakers for me.
Just to clarify can you actually 1) save games? (Have you turned it off and back on to see that saved games are actually still there, and have you tried with a few different games to make sure)? 2) are the Roms organized without duplicates or broken roms or unplayable roms? 3) is it possible to add Roms? 4)can you hide the stick behind the tv to play or does it need to be exposed in front of the controllers for connectivity (sorry if it's a stupid question) 5) how are the controllers powered, and how long do their batteries last? Thanks so much, love your videos
Well, if for some reason they HAD to have a filter and there was no way they could allow the user to toggle it, I think they made the right choice. Those original pixels were always smoothed by a CRT at the time. Still no clue why they couldn't allow you to toggle it off though, that's odd.
I probably going to get this because WHY NOT! I can bring it on a trip. Even if there's no internet. I appreciate how it's just setup. Regardless of not being to adjust settings. Oh well it's a great deal.
I love your videos and your reviews are always so well detailed. And the device should be named Pow Kitty. 🐱 😂 I totally Subscribed.👍💯 Keep up the good work. 😎
just curious, what it be better to use a AC adapter to power it, as opposed to the USB port on a TV, it's possible this game stick, could draw more current than the USB port provides , and exceed 0.5 amps. just don't wanna roach it, if I get one lol
Yeah possibly. Really any usb port on a TV should have overcurrent protection. I used this plugged into my TV, into a monitor, and into a game capture (while plugged into my PC for power), and didn't have an issue with any of these.
No tinkering, it just works? That's enough to sell me at this price. I dont mind a slightly stretched image if i can't find the aspect ratio button on my tv.
That's very impressive and I'd seriously consider it but that aspect ratio issue would really get on my nerves over time, especially with the lack of other features like multiple save states. I do like it a lot though and if they tweak it just a tiny bit more, I might get one down the road. I definitely like it when they keep these things simple but I"d want to connect my own controller and change the aspect ratio as appropriate at the very least.
I'm with ya. If my TV/Monitor didn't have the aspect ratio option then I wouldn't even bother. But for me, since I have that, it actually was totally fine.

Thank you for this great review.❤ Could you please tell me how do you connect the controllers with the stick? I just have a red, green blinking light or quick blinking light. Then they turn off with no connection.
You've plugged in the USB dongle for the controllers, right? Other than that I'm not sure what to suggest, they should 'just work'. If you've made sure to plug in the dongle and they're still not connecting maybe there's something wrong with the dongle?
I’m not sure if anyone still checks these comments, but can anyone verify if you’re able to connect multiple controllers? By that, I mean can you have 3 or 4 controllers connected, and how do you buy them
I'm very satisfied with this stick gameplay when i see your review but i need some save game when playing.. can this stick saves game when playing?? thats all i need here
No no. I mean that the game will save normally (like, if you use the in-game save option), as if you were running the game off the original cartridge on original hardware. You don't need anything, your games will save fine :)
Actually that game wasn't on here. Crusin' world was on it, and that ran nearly perfectly with only a few stutters but it was very playable. I didn't show it in the vid because I lost some of my footage.
Just watched the videos about making your own Emulation Drive. Is it possible to make your own Emulation Stick out of a Fire Stick or Chromecast? I want a small library of favorites, mostly N64 and older
It definitely is! You can install your own emulators, your own frontend (like Dig or Daijisho), and copy over all your games. I haven't tried that personally but it should work fine in theory.
The controllers are rechargeable or they use batteries? Also, can I use a wired usb controller or other type of bluetooth controller with it? Besides save state. Other ways to save game?
Batteries. I'm not sure about other wired controllers or BT controllers (I don't have this with me right now to test for you), but usually you CAN use other controllers. You can save in-game or use save states.
I just checked for ya. None of those on on here. But you can add your own games pretty easily, so if you have this you can download whatever games are missing and just copy them over to the sd card.
2.4ghz. No I haven't tried any others but I think they would work fine since Emuelec supports other controllers and we do have the ability to rebind the controls.
I don't think that affects performance at all. I've used this on the TV, my monitor, and also my game capture device (where I recorded the footage) and the performance is the same.
when's part 2 of the pc building guide going live? :D I just got parts for a new build for my wife and I'd like to see your take on building the system, an actual guide as you did there. That video helped me a lot choosing the parts for the next build, I didn't do it in quite some time and it was a great refresher :) Nice emu stick video btw :D
Yes, you can definitely do couch multiplayer. I'm not sure if the 128gb version has music tbh. You can add your own roms though, so if a game you wanted didn't have music you could clear some space on the device and add your own version of that game.
I just ordered one! The one question I have is about lag, some reviews said there was poor input latency. I know there are a lot of variables to consider such as line of sight, distance, etc... and that makes me think user error is possible. Could you give your opinion from your experience with the Y6 on its input response time?
I didn't notice any lag or latency. My test is to play a shmup, if those feel perfect to me then I'm happy. And they did, here, when the device was plugged directly into the TV (I did notice some latency with my display capture, but that's pretty normal).
Hi, the HDMI plug on my Y6 broke so I can't plug it to my TV anymore. Can I take the Micro SD card out and plug it to my laptop or computer and play the games there? If so, do I have to configure anything? Thank you!
Yes you can use the game files on the SD card on your computer, but you will need to install the emulators on your computer. Check out my "Perfect emulation drive" video for a tutorial on how to install Retrobat, which makes the process easy.
@@TechDweeb omg thank you so much for that info 😁! I thought I lost my money and had to buy another one! I was told "no" by another user. I'll watch your vid now!
receive mine today after watching your review. love and hate it so far. Do you think that we can install a bacotera or a full emuelec since its a Amlogic Aigame 905X2? Would love to get more "options" like aspect ratio or filtering.
I'm not sure tbh. I tried using an SD card from a different S905x2 device but it didn't work. Not sure if they're using a custom version of the chip or what. Would be worth a try though, to install an S905X2 fresh install of Emuelec on an SD card, see if that works.
i would like to know the list of games that dont have music. I know some ps1 games wont play the music if they are a zip file. they might have just used the zips to save space but if you unzip them they will play the music.
Yikes. Contact the company, they should be able to send you a replacement. I haven't been able to get this one to work with any other controllers, unfortunately.
I know most of them come with controllers, but can any of the devices connect with other controllers? I’m trying to have a classic game night with my brothers and I would like to use the snes, genesis and n64 controllers I purchased from Nintendo.
Thanks…. Ordered. Can’t wait!! Love my handheld, but I can’t wait to sit around the tv waiting for turns like we used to do when we were younger even if it’s for one night.
PS1 games without music is a meh for me. Do you know if the larger drive version has them intact? I wonder if you source the PS1 games yourself for the full versions if it will run them. You didn't mention if you can add your own roms and isos.
@@TechDweeb Sexy, tyvm. For the ones undoubtedly missing music (like Ridge Racer and Wipeout I bet) I just clear the games I don't need for the full ones. That works out. PS1 games aren't hard to find hehe. I see a lot of final fantasy games are missing too. Easy fix tho! ^^
Someone named Gizmodo mentioned in a review that you can swap out the 2.4 GHz receiver that came with it and you can use a bluetooth receiver instead to connect to other wireless controllers
@@TechDweeb someone on a review wrote this," Has delay in the controls makes the game difficult since the controls are not precise" how are they actually? they seemed to work in your video.. any complaints?
Good question. It should technically be possible with emuelec 4+, but this is so stripped down it wouldn't surprise me if they cut out the bluetooth functionality.
Hey Dweeb, would you happen to know if the mayflash f300 joystick would work with this device? Thank you! Would like to try to use this in a multicade I have been working on
I can't say for sure, but I THINK so. You do have the ability to set the controls, and this thing runs emuelec which normally allows for 3rd party joysticks, so I feel like that should work, but I can't say for sure.
Thanks for the great review. I bought one and would like to delete non-working or Japanese language roms and replace them with english roms, however when I plug the sd card into my pc, the only vivsible files are Emulec ones (no folders with roms in them). Have you managed to put any of your own roms into this thing?
There is a separate partition called "ROM'. If that's not showing up on your pc you'll need to assign a drive letter to that partition: Step 1. Right-click This PC and choose Manage - Disk Management. Step 2. Find your USB drive in the list. Right-click the FAT32 volume on your SD card drive and select Change Drive Letter and Paths. Step 3. In the window that opens, click Change. Step 4. Assign a new drive letter to your USB drive and click OK.
@TechDweeb Hiya mate, thanks for replying with the walk through, I'm in my late 60s & can find this stuff challenging 😆. Followed it on my Windows 7 PC but still not showing the separate partition called "ROM", just still shows the emulec files. Guess they don't want their customers messing with it!
@@TechDweeb Legendry answer. Surprised that no-one has liked this comment. Not many UA-cam creators would answer a semi-technical question like this. Nice one TechDweeb.
I'm Sorry friend, how to add games and covers on the stick? I managed to add games but not games covers, to add that you would need to open the gamelist.db file and add the titles added to the roms including the cover to see. Do you know how I can read that file? I tried with many programs but I didn't succeed, either I get an error when opening the file or I see it encrypted and I can't modify it by viewing it that way
Hey Dweeb! Love the content, QUICK QUESTION! Can you swap out the controllers it comes with? Is it possible to use a Xbox controller if you have the dongle for the controller?
Heya! Thanks! I don't think so. I tried 2 other controllers and none of them worked. As far as I can tell it only works with the controllers it comes with :/

I'm looking for a loaded and ready box to plug straight into my tv. I was hoping to get a decent one that has gamecube and ps2 games ready and working too.
Any ideas are welcome
I hate and love that I have bought multiple systems bc of you (Retroid Pocket 2+ and Powkiddy v90) This will be a perfect one to gift to my buddy who literally doesn't care to touch anything and just play right away so thank you good sir. I feel like I need to join this discord with all my weird Nvidia tablet and Nvidia clam shell systems that were sadly before their time.
The V90 is a solid system, I'm glad I talked you into that one! :P
Yeah I think this device is a great gift device, for people who don't want to fuss around with any settings and just want something that works without anything to mess up.
Lots of them are pretty crappy. I bought this one because since it has the s905x2 chip I thought it would be better than the super low end ones.
I love your charm TechDweeb! Content is a very nice, I like!
Thanks buddy
Beware that this thing freezes A LOT. I ordered one the day it appeared, and in PSP games always freezes after some minutes :(
Can anyone else vouch for the quality of this device? The comments/reviews on ali express don't seem too great.
That thing is surprisingly capable for the price. Like really surprising.
Yeah it caught me off guard.
I guess you missed this question, please let me know thankksss @techtweeb
Well, if for some reason they HAD to have a filter and there was no way they could allow the user to toggle it, I think they made the right choice. Those original pixels were always smoothed by a CRT at the time.
Still no clue why they couldn't allow you to toggle it off though, that's odd.
Should I worry if it heats up quickly because mine seems to.
I probably going to get this because WHY NOT! I can bring it on a trip. Even if there's no internet. I appreciate how it's just setup. Regardless of not being to adjust settings. Oh well it's a great deal.
Yeah I think it's great for that sort of usage. Just grab it and go, easy emulation with no fuss.
Got one, and I love it, thanks for sharing 👍🏻

Keep up the good work. 😎
Thanks for saying so :)
Thanks for a very informative video techdweeb I’ve been researching these game sticks and this seems like the clear winner I bought one today
Nice. Enjoy!
How's it holding up? Still the best available for ease of use?
just curious, what it be better to use a AC adapter to power it, as opposed to the USB port on a TV, it's possible this game stick, could draw more current than the USB port provides , and exceed 0.5 amps. just don't wanna roach it, if I get one lol
The 2600 set is only a few megs compressed and the core would be small so I don't think it was a space issue.
As a test I added on atari 2600, it worked fine!
U awesome bro I'm gettin one of this thank u for all the hard u put in your I luv your Contact
@@TechDweeb so God dweeb the holiest ..

The v90 has a screen that always tears in emulation. That's why I'm excited miyoo is making a clamshell in the sp form factor.
My v90 used to on stock. I have the 1.2v one so not the original one. Updated the firmware to a custom one and tearing seems very minimal for anything below the PlayStation now. My son uses it to play pokemon and Zelda games for what it is worth.

I would be curious what the "best" low cost plug and play option is, that has more options and solid PSP performance...

Can games be added to the stick?
Thank you for this great review.❤
Could you please tell me how do you connect the controllers with the stick? I just have a red, green blinking light or quick blinking light. Then they turn off with no connection.
You've plugged in the USB dongle for the controllers, right? Other than that I'm not sure what to suggest, they should 'just work'. If you've made sure to plug in the dongle and they're still not connecting maybe there's something wrong with the dongle?
@@TechDweeb I am stupid. Thank you Dweeb. And thank you again for representing this cool stick.

Great review 👏
I’m not sure if anyone still checks these comments, but can anyone verify if you’re able to connect multiple controllers? By that, I mean can you have 3 or 4 controllers connected, and how do you buy them

@@TechDweeb Yes I'm! Unless the earth disappears under Godzilla's laser beam...should be ok! ;)
Hello, thanks for the video. One of my gamepads just stop working. Do you know any other compatible gamepad with Y6?
Not that I have found, but if you contact the seller they should be able to offer you a replacement.
I'm very satisfied with this stick gameplay when i see your review but i need some save game when playing.. can this stick saves game when playing?? thats all i need here
Yes. It'll save the games via cartridge saves, and you can also use save states.
@@TechDweeb via catridge?? Does the consumer provide the stick with a catridge?
No no. I mean that the game will save normally (like, if you use the in-game save option), as if you were running the game off the original cartridge on original hardware. You don't need anything, your games will save fine :)
@@TechDweeb ok boss.. thanks..👍
Would it work with usb arcade controllers? If so this would be the best route for a homemade arcade machine
I couldn't get any other controllers to work other than the ones that came with it.
What about Cruisin' USA for N64? Does it run fine?
@@TechDweeb ok. Thank you
This stick can save game when playing??
Yup!
@@TechDweeb The sd card got sell outside or not? Because i just bought this stick.. waiting for the shipping arrived..
which resolutions? can i use this with a crt tv? using an av adapter…
Yes you can use it with a CRT TV with an AV adapter. I was doing it earlier myself!
Can you change the aspect ratio on your tv to help the look of the screen stretching?
Yup. That's what I did in the gameplay that I captured.
Just a quick question just looking for resident evil or some silent hill or some of the medal of honours are they on the stick? Just curious.
I just checked for ya. None of those on on here. But you can add your own games pretty easily, so if you have this you can download whatever games are missing and just copy them over to the sd card.
What's the wireless dongle? BT? 2.4ghz? Have you tried any other controllers / wireless dongles?
2.4ghz. No I haven't tried any others but I think they would work fine since Emuelec supports other controllers and we do have the ability to rebind the controls.
I wonder how much of this great performance was due to the television model that was used?
I don't think that affects performance at all. I've used this on the TV, my monitor, and also my game capture device (where I recorded the footage) and the performance is the same.
when's part 2 of the pc building guide going live? :D
I just got parts for a new build for my wife and I'd like to see your take on building the system, an actual guide as you did there. That video helped me a lot choosing the parts for the next build, I didn't do it in quite some time and it was a great refresher :)
Nice emu stick video btw :D
It's on the way! That'll probably be the next video, or the one after that. Stay tuned buddy :)
I ordered this from Amazon. Not got it yet. Do the controllers use batteries and what size?
I see two controllers - is there couch co-op/vs multiplayer? And any idea if the 128GB version has music in PS1 games?
Yes, you can definitely do couch multiplayer. I'm not sure if the 128gb version has music tbh. You can add your own roms though, so if a game you wanted didn't have music you could clear some space on the device and add your own version of that game.
hi, amazing review mate, but you didnt mention if we are able to save game plays and come back to them and continue where we left.
Yes you can, but there's only one save state per game.
Still waiting on mine. Did you get the 128 gb? Does it seem like there's more games if you did?
I wonder if the upgrade to the 128 gigabyte version not only adds more games, but implements the music they had to cut out?
I would think so. Even if not, you can add your own roms, so if your favorite game isn't on here, or it doesn't have music, you can swap the rom.
i would like to know the list of games that dont have music. I know some ps1 games wont play the music if they are a zip file. they might have just used the zips to save space but if you unzip them they will play the music.
Mine arrived with the Bluetooth dongle missing 😢
Did anyone try if it works with another game controller?
Yikes. Contact the company, they should be able to send you a replacement. I haven't been able to get this one to work with any other controllers, unfortunately.
Hey Dweeb....i was reading reviews. Did you ever lose co troller connectivity? How about input lag? Thanks
No and no. Controllers worked fine, and zero lag as far as I could tell.
"3D Game" gotta love the name 😂😂😂
Very creative name huh?
Can I save a game with this? I want to play some old Zelda games
Yup!
I know most of them come with controllers, but can any of the devices connect with other controllers? I’m trying to have a classic game night with my brothers and I would like to use the snes, genesis and n64 controllers I purchased from Nintendo.
Usually yes. I can't say for sure on this device but I imagine you'd be fine to use 3rd party controllers since it's based on emuelec 4+.
Thanks…. Ordered. Can’t wait!!
Love my handheld, but I can’t wait to sit around the tv waiting for turns like we used to do when we were younger even if it’s for one night.

Did it work with the controllers you mentioned?
PS1 games without music is a meh for me. Do you know if the larger drive version has them intact? I wonder if you source the PS1 games yourself for the full versions if it will run them. You didn't mention if you can add your own roms and isos.
Not sure if the larger version has the roms with sound, however you CAN add your own roms.

@@TechDweeb Thanks! Btw, do you recommend the 128gb for 10 dollars more than the 64gb?
Someone named Gizmodo mentioned in a review that you can swap out the 2.4 GHz receiver that came with it and you can use a bluetooth receiver instead to connect to other wireless controllers
Can we fast forward on this though?
I can imagine Pokémon games would be pretty hard to play through without the fast forward option.
Nope :.(

Hey Dweeb, would you happen to know if the mayflash f300 joystick would work with this device? Thank you! Would like to try to use this in a multicade I have been working on
I can't say for sure, but I THINK so. You do have the ability to set the controls, and this thing runs emuelec which normally allows for 3rd party joysticks, so I feel like that should work, but I can't say for sure.
@@TechDweeb thank you so much, really appreciate all that you do, keep the vids coming my guy! Cheers 👊🏻👽
Did you try any 2 player games with both controllers in use like fighting games?
Thanks for the great review. I bought one and would like to delete non-working or Japanese language roms and replace them with english roms, however when I plug the sd card into my pc, the only vivsible files are Emulec ones (no folders with roms in them). Have you managed to put any of your own roms into this thing?
There is a separate partition called "ROM'. If that's not showing up on your pc you'll need to assign a drive letter to that partition:
Step 1.
