"The first time I ever really listened to Kyle Kulinski’s show was in the back of a cab last summer. The driver had his phone hooked up through the stereo and was pumping out an episode through the car speakers - loudly, as if looking to convert a captive audience.
“Do you like Kyle Kulinski?”
The driver, Ahmed, was a recent immigrant and apparently a die-hard fan of Secular Talk, the political talk show that Kulinski broadcasts on UA-cam. I told him, yes, in fact. I do like Kulinski, had come across his show several years ago, and, all things considered, he seemed pretty good.
“He understands what we’re up against,” Ahmed said. “Like Bernie.”
But I was surprised to hear Kulinski’s name mentioned in the same breath as Bernie Sanders, particularly with such adoration. Because what I did remember about Kulinski’s show struck me as mostly capital-P “progressive” takes on the news - the left wing of the Netroots crowd more than the democratic socialism Sanders has popularized.
It’s an impression that wasn’t entirely incorrect.
“I have no time for philosophical, airy bullshit,” Kulinski tells me from his home in Westchester, New York. “I don’t want to hear about Lenin. I don’t want to hear about Marx. I just want a super plainspoken, straightforward agenda with a straightforward way of selling it.”
With over 800,000 subscribers and nearly 670 million total views on UA-cam, selling a progressive agenda is clearly something Kulinski knows how to do - even Democracy Now, the long-standing flagship of progressive media, cannot match his reach on the platform. Chapo Trap House can certainly boast a wildly devoted fan base (and a not insignificant degree of media influence), but their audience is roughly half the size of Kulinski’s.
While Secular Talk might be more likely to be looped in with the progressive networks around Air America and Pacifica alums like Sam Seder than the more resolutely socialist world, Kulinski’s fiery rhetoric, razor-sharp class instincts, and knack for withering takedowns sets him apart from his peers. Judging by his rhetoric alone, he’s closer to a Eugene Debs than a Chris Hayes.
But unlike Hayes, Amy Goodman, or his friend Cenk Uygur of The Young Turks - who began airing Secular Talk on his web network seven years ago - the thirty-two-year-old Kulinski is virtually invisible in the mainstream media. Despite his enormous fan base, his show has never once been mentioned in the obligatory trend pieces on “the Millennial Left” pumped out by the prestige media. Nor has Kulinski’s name ever popped up at all in the New York Times, Vox, the New Yorker, New York Magazine, or the Washington Post, despite his leading role in cofounding Justice Democrats, the organization widely credited with sweeping Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the rest of “the Squad” to power.
Just last week, his Wikipedia page was deleted. The reason? “There is very simply no [reliable source] coverage of this person,” according to one moderator. In new media, he’s king - the Sean Hannity of the Berniecrat left. In old media, he’s nobody.
I suspect there are a few reasons for that. There is nothing “cool” about Kulinski’s show. (As a friend put it, “‘Welcome to Secular Talk’ sounds like something you’d hear on Egyptian radio.”) His no-nonsense social-democratic politics won’t get him much cred with the Full Communism crowd. He records his show not in Brooklyn or Los Angeles, but in a studio he built himself in his modest Westchester home. His hair is too groomed and his taste in clothes too preppy to qualify as “Dirtbag Left.” Nor has he ever attended an n+1 release party. “Not only have I not attended one,” he says, “I have no idea what that means.”
And yet he’s astonishingly plugged-in for a young man in the suburbs. Wondering how Sanders ended up on the Joe Rogan Experience? Kulinski, a frequent guest on Rogan’s wildly popular show, introduced them. “You make the most sense to me,” Rogan told Kulinski on a recent episode. “You’re a normal person.”
Much like Sanders himself, Kulinski’s show has a massive audience that just doesn’t compute with our media’s understanding of “what the kids want” or even “what the left-wing kids want.”
It’s probably for the best - the very woke and very WASP-ish decorum haunting much of the media world is nowhere to be found in Secular Talk. “Corporate Democrats over-focus on identity as a trick to divert you from the issues that unite us all - class issues,” he said on a recent episode.

@josepha.r5839 yeah but this is more than what the news media here knows. That guy might be right. Iran suffers from a lack of spare parts for her fleet of helicopters and fighter jets. They make do with domestically made parts and these things are really old too. So it could be a simple crash.

let's just say, strictly on indisputable theological grounds, according to the Bible, it's all God's fault.
the world is basically a pathetic hack job of a creation, rashly created out of boredom but so badly that it drives Him nuts and everything he does to fix the mess is typically cruel, ill conceived and rash and only makes matters worse in the long run.
take homosexuality. if you need to threaten murder 55 x to dudes who get it on with each other in spite of all the problems with excrement etc you are looking, in my book, at a serious design flaw. also, you have clearly a very flawed model of addressing the situation.
according to the Bible, the creator basically has one primary tool for addressing design flaws and other grievances: indiscriminate mass murder. the reasons given for leaving a remainder seem not only laughable but also never solve problems in the long run.

No assassination attempt. Enemies can't see in thick fog, either. Why waste the ammo? Moreover, it was in the mountains, which makes it even more difficult to achieve a successful assassination from thousands of miles away.
There's a very small likelihood that this was done by Persian rebels. But most likely, the pilot got disoriented and crashed into the ground, similar to what happened to Kobe's helicopter.

Or what? 😂
Probably not an assassination attempt. Iran is under sanctions so struggling to get parts to properly maintain their aircraft and it was bad weather apparently and they said "hard landing" so most likely that the engine died and the pilot did an autorotation (the technique you do in a helicopter to trade kinetic and potential energy to spin the blades to make a safe controlled landing with no engine, kinda like gliding a plane or opening your parachute when skydiving) but hadn't practiced autorotation enough and/or couldn't see the ground very well due to fog so misjudged the flare maneuver and made a very hard landing instead of a nice smooth one.
A presidential helicopter not maintained do to sanctions??? Are you for real???😅😅😅😅
@@pauljastrzebiec-milewski4410 yes actually, parts can be harder to get and may be cheap Chinese copies and also companies with government contracts are not immune from taking shortcuts and cutting corners and buying the cheapest parts or skipping maintenance to save money. I'm not saying it is a 100%, I'm saying it is a good possibility with a high likelihood. Also it could be both you are correct and the chopper was well maintained and also I am also correct and just bad weather like a lightning strike or random bad luck or pilot negligence or unforeseen mechanical failure lead to an engine failure and the pilot did autorotation and either due to not having practiced an autorotation for a while or not being able to see the ground very well due to heavy fog misjudged the flare and the landing was quite hard and not ideal but still everyone survives but their backs and necks hurt a bit.
And I thought Popular Mechanics simped hard for the MIC🙉🙊💦
@@robelyncooper4555 who's simping for the MIC? Certainly not me, sanctions and aircraft maintenance and pilot training and aviation in bad weather have nothing to do with MIC. It's just general aviation mechanics and procedures, and most presidential aircraft have civilian equivalents or are civilian versions and would just have a military escort but the actual presidents aircraft would most likely be civilian model with gold toilets for rich a-holes. In Iran's case it would most likely be a Russian helicopter that the Russians themselves are struggling to maintain and produce parts for or a western civilian helicopter for rich people that they can't get parts for or a Chinese helicopter made by Uyghur children in a slave reeducation camp factory and sold for like 3 cents and has a plus or minus 5% tolerance to every measurement and angle.

I think this is most likely just and accident. Weather conditions were supposedly absolutely terrible, reports were less than 15 ft of visibility. It was so bad that the search and rescue choppers initially couldn't get to the crash site.
Not saying lots of people didn't want this guy dead, just saying we have a very plausible explanation for the crash without resorting to conspiracy theories.
Have people worldwide who use helicopters not heard of Kobe? There’s no way I get on a helicopter during inclement weather. The first thing I thought when I heard this was 🇮🇱.
Yet every military on earth practices in bad weather ...and this is not the norms.....
Then you are brain broken by leftist UA-cam
We moving straight to conspiracy theory now? Did you check the weather they took that ride in? As foggy as it gets
It's odd that they flew or didn't turn back, but fog can appear quite quickly out of nowhere sometimes.
@@Lee_303 it is mountainous region they should really know better really

If you knew history your first thought would be US and/or Israel. You either don't know history or you play dumb. Which is it?
@@student99bg damn you gonna tell me about 1953 next are you?
Oh, that’s… a bit worrying
The title hits different when you click more and find "attempt?"
At least a lot of people cried for Kobe and millions of people miss him.
TO ALL YOU JEW HATERS. HAVE A GREAT DAY 🇮🇱
no one hate jews, you missed the bus stop....
WW 3? Do I hear WW 3? In the Middle East? Cuz that’s what we’re getting
"Crashes". Uh-huh.
You're becoming pathological, mate.
@@roaldruss4211 And your definitely dense
@@amxaas4450 why is it it, then, that the Iranian government hasn't issued any statement to that effect? They have retrieved the wreck and secured the bodies, yet Iranian state media runs with the prevailing "narrative" that Raisi's death was due to technical failure.
Even their official military report (I'm reading it right now) affirmed that there was no sabotage or attack.
@@roaldruss4211 You're sense denser than lead
Thanks for the report Kyle!!
From the river to the sea, Raisi is missing
They whacked him

Can we all agree that Iranians are not very good at protecting their generals and politicians.
