Were you aware that Steve Perry's dad was a vocalist/singer as well? Can you find any videos of Steve's dad singing? Have you found if Steve Perry's grandsons are singing yet? Did Steve Perry ever take vocal lessons? I gave you some tough questions but I think you are up for it! :)
Can we all just agree that Steve Perry's voice is a gift from God, and those of us lucky enough to have grown up on his music are among the most blessed?
Well, we don't actually know it's a gift from God - could be from Lucifer, like a lot of musicians & celebrities who "sell" their souls for fame. I'm not saying it is, but just to watch out for that kind of thing. For instance take Bob Dylan: he has a SUPER ugly nasty voice, but somehow so many people find it "incredible", and he even admits he "sold" his soul to the "God of this world" (whom we know is Satan, aka Lucifer). Steve Perry is amazing aMAZing to listen to, and maybe he's not wicked like 80-90% of the others out there, but we need to be cautious whom we idolize.
Steve Perry is a singing angel! I will never forget his live performances in concert in the ‘70s and ‘80s. We, the audience, were mesmerized. No technology, auto tune or computers. Just the real deal. This is what live music should be!
In the 80's I'd been to many rock concerts. At the halfway point there would be an intermission and one band member would stay on to perform a solo of their talents. It was usually a guitar or drum solo. In 1985 I attended a Journey concert and at this particular event Steve Perry performed a voice solo at the intermission. I had never been to a concert where this happened. I had previously been to a Journey concert in 1981 and Ross performed a guitar solo. The voice solo was something to remember for a lifetime and I will never forget that day. What talents this man possesses.
I always loved to hear Steve when he sang along with a guitar solo and sounded just like an instrument hitting those high notes! He is just so amazing!
As to his voice at 65- what makes it even more unbelievable is that when he left Journey, he was so burned out that he didn't sing/practice for many years. He could only listen to acoustic music because even vocals triggered it, per his own interviews.
Please listen to "Wheel in the Sky" when Neil starts his guitar solo and you can hear sing vocalizing in the background. A lot of people who listen to this song at that minute think that the sound is another guitar, but it's not. It's Steve's incredible voice! (It happens around minute 2:39 in the recording.) Also, the last notes by Steve in the live performance of "Mother, Father" in Houston, Texas, in 1981 is another Steve Perry gem that gives me goosebumps. And in a rare gem-of-a-song called "Let Him Go," Steve hits an unbelievably-high note twice: One time at around minute 3:35, and again at around minute 4:10. This was a demo song for Journey's album "Frontiers," but it did not make it onto the album.
@@DEGS1010 I know, right? I've seen reaction videos where people just completely miss the awesomeness of that part of the song because they think it's another guitar!
I knew every pitch, every wonderful vocal that ever came out of Steve Perry's beautiful mouth. No guitar playing can create or cover that sound, the man is amazingly talented and has had my ear and my heart since sweet 16... love you Steve 💋💜
@@tippygirl773 that's actually what made me a fan 🤷 I just heard that note in wheel in the sky, and I was madly in love with his vocal powers. Steve sings from the heart. There will never be another Steve, never
Are you thinking about 'Something to Hide' from the 1978 album, Journey, when Steve sings the same line Neil plays and then sings a third higher before going into that transcendent ending Ah to Ooooh? Oh yeah.
Steve Perry is a prodigy when it comes to singing. There will NEVER be a greater singer or stage performer. Steve also is the full package perfect from head to toe ,charismatic, intelligent and personable. Put all that together with the voice of an angel and that is why he is so loved by millions!!
Yes Steve Perry has the most amazing voice EVER! "The Voice" & a handsome down to earth man. God blessed us with him. I HAD to have the new Christmas album collection with the jacket, marble album, signed by Steve Perry test pressing. So thankful to have this!💜
It is the smoothest transition from falsetto to the lower registers where he is a reflection God! Just a wicked talent! Forever my favorite singer of all times!

Steve Perry is my favorite singer, from the time with Journey and still is 2022. He can sing rock, classic, R&B, blues and soul. U name it he can sing it. That's the voice that God gave him. And he did what was put on his heart to do. So now he is living life. 🙏

I know I'm late to the party, but no one ever brings up Keep On Runnin', the end of that song is one of the most clarion and stratospheric vocal lines ever. Also, as a bonus, lay it down has another amazing moment 1 minute 55 seconds in, the lyrics "we were on our way," he does this vocal turn that I can't help but rewind several times every single time. Thanks for the vid, I never get tired of Steve!
Lay It Down is one of my favorite Journey songs. When I hear him, I just feel like I'm HOME. I was fortunate to have been a teenager while they were touring in late 70's and 80's. Saw them in Ventura, maybe 80 or 81. We also got spoiled listening to THE BEST then.. and LIVE.. The stuff from that period never ages out, just gets better. The brilliant melodies, the hard rocking without ever sounding noisy and of course The Voice. Captured is probably my favorite live album. Still. After all these years. thank you for your appreciation
Have you heard his live performance of Patiently on Legends Live in Convert Vol. 39. Steve hits an incredibly high note when he sings "this we bring" over and over higher each time.
