  • When the kids glue back the vase and Carol insists on using it, the kids hold their breath that water doesn't leak.

I was in work yesterday and I was wiping the table off in the break room and I accidentally knocked over a glass vase with flowers on it and the vase shattered and glass flew everywhere. Luckily nobody was around. I swept up all the glass and replaced the broken vase with another one that I found in the cabinet under the sink and never told anyone. It made me think of this episode and that's why I'm here. LOL

Their mistake was putting water in it. Neither Carol nor Mike went with them into the kitchen. I'd have turned the water on, but put the flowers in the empty vase. Wet my hands, then get the outside of the vase wet to make it look like I put water in it.

She was being spoiled in the sense that she had someone do stuff for her. Think about it, after her "Husband" died, she moved back in with her folks with Three Girls. They were upper Middle Class. God when I think what Alice did in a Day, it's mindblowing. Cooking, Cleaning & Laundry, also making The Kids their lunch and making sure that each kid got their favorite sandwich. When I was a Kid, my Mother made me and My Sister prepare our Lunch.

The writers had to create an Alice. No one was going to write a show about a lovely woman who became a perpetual drudge/slave upon remarrying, cooking and cleaning for four men in addition to caring for herself and three girls. Eight people is hell on earth to cook and clean for, 24/7, even with no other job.

    • @WinslowLeach1974

@@ravenel2 And the thing is, Alice was probably comfortable taking care of Mike and the boys, but then when Mike got married, Alice went from cooking and cleaning for four people, straight to eight people, doubling her workload. Eight people, 24/7! I wonder if Mike doubled her salary.

In the end of the episode, while Peter got a second chance to glue the vase back (and the vase fell out of Carol's hands and broke), Peter could have also done something else. If he had holiday money and/or even a credit/debit card (I wonder when credit/debit cards were invented) he could have bought his mother a new vase. There would have been plenty of stores in the neighborhood that sold pottery vases. Peter, he was grounded either way. So he was not able to make it to the camping trip.

Florence Henderson admitted that Carol Brady got on her nerves in future years.

There’s no shot where Marcia is looking at it and reacting to it where they then cut to the vase from the opposite view, suggesting that’s what Marcia sees. I don’t see any inconsistency with the camera cutting back to the general view of the vase. The audience would receive no new information about the scene by flipping the camera around and showing it from Marcia’s perspective.

The Brady Kids could have easily have gotten out of the vase mess if Greg and Peter were slick. Carol gave the vase to Greg and Peter to take into the kitchen to put water into the vase thus compromising the glue and making it leak. Greg and Peter were alone in the kitchen with the vase. Greg and Peter should have "accidently" dropped the vase on purpose causing it to break into pieces. Carol and Mike would brought the act as just an unfortunate "accident" and they would have never had found out the vase was ever broken or that Peter was responsible for breaking it by playing ball in the house. It's unlikely Greg or Peter would gotten in trouble for "accidently" dropping the vase.

Did Alice think the water leaking out of the vase's cracks in the vase was a fountain when she said "three coins for the fountain"? Well it must've been because she thought it was an indoor fountain ⛲.

Well, it didn't leak at first because it takes a while for the glue to wash away. The man at the store said that it's good for vases. The glue hadn't finished drying yet as it said on the bottle that it takes 2 to 4 hours for the glue to dry.

Mrs. Brady didn't have very good taste if that piece of junk vase was her favorite. It looks like it was picked up on the side of the road in Tijuana. Thank God it got busted at the end of the episode and was never seen again until HGTV found another one just like it for the renovation series.
