Just want to say the Interview section was what made this for me - great, natural conversation rather than interrogation, good lighting and implied respect between the two of you. Well done mate this is your strength.
So glad this guy was brought on as the first guest. He’s an absolute beast of a player. You called him for what he is, Mark: a master of the Telecaster.
Earlier I expressed polite dissatisfaction of the audio, and that Mark/Jen need to up their game, but I failed to acknowledge that I enjoyed the content overall and Jen's multi-camera setup and subsequent cuts/editing. She didn't get thrown off by the bright window behind Daniel, either. I'll bet this show grows really well as Mark and Jen create, and then settle into, a groove. Much admiration for the fun and hard work you must be having/doing. Bravo!
Loads of respect from my country Pakistan, my love for country and blues music makes me shiver sometime and I can listen to all day and night! Will be tuned for more episodes. Congratulations!
K: 1 - Loose the Anderton’s ditching. Makes you sound cocky and unappreciative of their audience who might also follow you. There’s a market for everyone in the guitar world, cheap and expensive, and it’s totally cool to provide accessible content, especially when it’s high quality and fun. 2 - Get a decent set of voice mics. 3 - Don’t pretend your format is unique when it’s not. Nikki Sixx channel was actually pretty similar. On the other hand I totally get and encourage the TV format ambition. It’s super cool. Great show overall. The content is super interesting, the guest is great, and the playing is tasteful as can be.
Yeah, he’s got a LONG way to go before he’s as interesting and well done as the Andertons shows. They come off as modest, charming, self effacing guys you’d want to hang out with, and not pretentious know it alls.
I like this guy okay most of the time, but when he has the same level of success as the guys from Andertons, then he can poke fun. They may be kind of dorky, but they are both exceptional players (far out of this guy's league)
Awesome show, love the vibe, don't make it fancy, two musicians talking like regular humans and jamming some righteous tunes is killer. Daniel is amazing and Mark is always great.
Holy Crap Mark, listening to you and Daniel jam out together was fricking awesome! This show is like a breath of fresh air. Many thanks to you and Jen for making this happen and best of luck with the greatest new show on youtube. 🤘🏻
A combination between sound design and Mic positioning / selection would do wonders. But truthfully I was enjoying this so much I didn't realise until I read your comment.
Enjoyed the first episode. I agree with your opinion considering leaving the snark still on during the gig. I used to turn the volume knob off and look down in the dark at the red and green lights on my quik tune velcroed to my pedalboard. I also used to walk to school in the snow up hill......in 1995, the school levy failed and they laid off the bus drivers.
I still don't know if telling (and disregarding) that ALL other guitar channels (and clearly pointing to Andertons) are boring is a smart move to get some attention.. By doing so, you better step up your game! Because arrogance + amateur show = pure cringe. It would have been just funny if you were humble. I'm not sure Norm would agree with your behavior because: who would give money to a general manager who spread negativity? Maybe when you grow up and gain some confidence in your show, you wouldn't feel the need to put the others down to feel yourself better.
Literally nowhere in this video does he mention Anderton's. What's interesting is that I subscribe to Lee's channel, watch both his and Rob's videos and I still don't get it. Are you proposing that only Anderton's does the stereotypical "let's compare this cheap ass Chinese guitar to a Fender Custom Shop guitar and see what we all think?" videos? Are you really that ignorant to think that only Anderton's does those types of videos? There are literally hundreds of guitar fanatic youtube channels that do this kind of shit. Right out of the box, first gig was fabulous. I thought when I found Guitar of the Day, I'd discovered nirvana...nope, I was wrong. This is the real deal. Thanks, Mark and Jen!
Mark is “Wide Freaking Open”! Great show, simple, to the point. Please, Do not over produce... Jen doing the announcements is just right... Fun stuff Jen.. “Whats in the News??!!” Hey Mark is into Mid Century Modern! Check out the kidney table and the metal lamps!👍👍👍👍👍 Great interview, natural conversation, like we just hanging out in the old days.
Thank you for this Show! and thank you for inviting Daniel Donato.. Like his Style very much.. without you i probably nevery discovered him. all the best from vienna/austria.
awesomeness & congrats Mark! best of luck with the series and the new show. you guitar passion & knowledge are unparalleled, looking forward to this series... 🎥 🎸🥂👍🏼
I'm glad you're doing this. I discovered you and Norms about a year ago. It's been a daily watch ever since. I'm looking forward to seeing what you have in store here. Best of luck.
Loved it! Can't wait to look back on this first episode in 10 years and see how much the show has grown. With nearly 1500 comments I don't expect you'll see mine but I liked the show so much I felt compeled to comment!
Very well done for your first show Mark. Talking, playing, influences.....news.....all good stuff. And Daniel Donato......wow! This young man is definitely one to watch. So seasoned for such a young guy, incredible! I keep saying i don't need a telecaster but, the truth is, i need a telecaster! Thanks for making me want one, this stuff never ends! Congrats Mark and Jen! Can't wait for the next episode!
This is what has been missing in YT land.. not selling..not criminalizing..not a pissing contests or trying to be something you are not..just an awesome show. I'm hooked!!!!......Yeah Mom I'm coming up to take my meds...Geeez what a nag. No Mom what I said was I need a nap...Really I'm not lying
I love it Mark,... No snark on stage... Great first show.... Donato sounds like a player with his feet planted on the ground. Look forward to hearing more from this Star.
First, I'm a guitarist, so my compliment comes from a fellow axe man. I 've always enjoyed watching, listening to you play, and giving intricate info on guitar history, I eat it up! ( we also share the same bday). Great show, and I'm an eager viewer!!👍
Great show Mark. Congrats to Gibson for the change. I just bought a 2019, ES-339, figured, natural finish, MHSll pickups. It is one of the finest examples of guitar making I have seen coming out of Gibson Memphis. It’s a thing of beauty, monster tonality, easy playing, a great example of what Gibson is capable of. Keep up the great work, Gibson
Love you guys, but it's REALLY time to step up the production, Mark/Jen, as others here have said. Echoey audio from an on-camera mic is not the way to go. You do NOT have to turn all Hollywood, or ruin the vibe of the show, to do a basic upgrade that will improve the enjoyment. 500+ Guitars-of-the-Day in a storage room, fine, but now you're taking on something quite different and it should show. Please up the skills just a bit. Thank you. I'm a big fan.
@@vince3804 OK, "dood"...Say what you want, but there's absolutely no doubt that some of the suggestions here actually need to be said, and many people are commenting on the same thing. Yes, there will always be break-in times and teething pains with any venture....but over the last couple years there have been loads of people urging better sound on the GOTD videos, too (some constructively, some rudely just like on this video) and that show is waaayy beyond its first episode. First time out of the gate or not, the Mark Agnesi Show didn't just drop out of the sky on their laps. They obviously prepared (got a guest, had a logo made, etc.) and one of the things that continues to be not quite right is the audio.
Agreed. They’re also in the entertainment business, so they should have boom mics that are accessible, as well as mixing equipment if they want that. It’s the small touches that will take this to the next level. And it’s the small stuff (hissing in the background of the audio, uneven lighting, etc.) that will keep the show from snagging a bigger audience. None of this speaks to the quality of the content. It’s more in presentation. And in entertainment, presentation matters. Love you, Jen and Mark! I’m confident you’re gonna nail it after a few episodes.
@@beforehonour @anthonyc guys hes a dood in a guitar store with some spare time creating free content - take it for what it is - he isn't trying to do anything like what you want yet - it will grow with time - said it himself almost instantly - he cant help that he has a fan base because of instagram etc etc that people already know them for - if you ever created anything in the past you should have some kind of understanding of this process hahaha - lets see your successful creative outlet?
100% correct, clip tuners should never be left on the headstock. It's uncool, it kills dreams and vision and most of all it has a negative impact on the design of the guitar. That was fun but I gotta agree with everybody: please, please, please, get a proper microphone... as interesting as the content is, and it sure IS interesting, it's somewhat difficult to listen to, especially for non-english viewers like myself. A real mike, even a cheap one, would make a HUGE difference.
Please don't change this, Mark and Jen. The sound and the vision is great. I can watch Hi-tech pics and sound anywhere, this sounds and feels like people really enjoying what they are doing. Thank you.
sowerby1950 Having non-echoey audio will not diminish the vibe of the show. Doing it the proper way is not necessarily hi-tech, it's just getting the basics correct. Nothing more.
mic setup is definitely desirable. like on the person and on the amp. also a tripod or some sort of stabilizer wouldn’t hurt it’s weird seeing a steady cam then all the sudden it’s shaky when it starts to move. of course this’ll all take time to refine and get right but we’re all here for the ride.
Thanks for the show, guys. Went to Robert’s after watching this and saw their current Tele player (Luke McQueary) basically light his guitar on fire two nights in a row.
Mark - The Show is Kool!!! Great to see you in a different expanded format - Honest content too. I’ve been watching GOTD for over a year and dig that you also embrace Country with the likes of Buck, Roy & Waylon. ~ ✌️🎸☮️
Hi Mark! I hope you're channel will grow fast but there are some things that should be changed. 1) I didn't like the way you spoke about The Andertons. I'm sure that many of your subscribers watch them (check out the comment section under the videos with Ariel Posen or Mary Spender). Just make good content as you do, without malicious comments like that 2) get a good lavalier mic. The sound is too roomy when you speak 3) That green screen doesn't look professional to be honest, I'd prefer the natural background 4) We all love Jen but in my opinion her laughs make it hard to watch the videos
I'm no expert just a listener. It's your first show and you get a pass. Taking shots at others is never a show of confidence, do your thing and the rest will come. Always enjoy listening to the young guns in their natural state with their ideas of evolving into something of thier own. They are ones that will keep the past alive. Someday we'll see this young man in his ganduer and remember these times. As for the technical issues they've been clearly stated before and yes the laughing is a bit much. Overall enjoyed it, let's see how it goes. I'll be tuned in next week.
Great first show Mark. Really enjoyed it. Was fun watching the guy who last week appraised my '67 Gibson J45 flat top doing his maiden event. Good luck to you. I will be watching every week! Bob Love
Nice show. I definitely agree with the need for a mic. One for and you and one for Jen. She needs to be on screen and share in the revenue from the show. No need to call out Anderton's. If it wasn't for me finding their video's and getting hooked on guitar video's, I probably wouldn't have found Norm's GOTD and thus this show. Chill. Good luck.
Love the new show. Mark is super cool guy n great guitar player n love that he's not trying to promote anything n keeping it simple n real. Jen is funny as always n really look forward to the new shows. Keep up the good work!
What a guitar player to start with! Daniel is absolutely one of the best about. Top 5 defiantly. Great show Mark. More! I'd love to hear Redd Volkaert tell you you about vintage telecasters.
I mean this in a really good way.. but does anyone else think that Mark looks a little bit like Grover from Sesame Street?... congratulations on the first show
Really interesting interview with Daniel Donato - really neat to hear someone so young who has such an appreciation for old gear. Hope he does well in his career.
Bro, if Jen doesn't stop cackling and butting in off camera, good luck keeping subscribers. The bar back turned you off of the big screen at one of the larger establishments here when people kept voicing their anger. Just sayin. You do you though bro.
Mark, I have been a fan of yours since I first started watching your excellent "Guitar of the Day" spots. Keep up the great work! I like to see someone with as much passion for music, and a love of great instruments (whether vintage, or new) as you always show. Hopefully when I get out to Norm's some day soon to buy a guitar, I will get to meet you and shake your hand. God bless, and Happy Holidays !
Great show to both Jen and Mark! If you're open to suggestions: - I think the news segment takes away from the show. Visually it doesn't relate to the rest of the show and topical news doesn't age well. Although the show is ostensibly about guitars, it's really about aesthetics. If you can match what we see with what we hear, you'll be successful. - The sound could be better. I realize it's your living room, not a studio, but you can get acoustic panels relatively inexpensively that'd really improve the way it sounds. - Consider some establishing shots. Pan over guitars, the books on the coffee table, the wine glasses, unfocused long shots of Mark and the guest, etc. Emerald City Guitars does a great job of this on their channel.
1) Nice living room Mark. Cool. 2) I know we all want to see Jen each week 3) Oh Gibson, talk is cheap: I won't hold my breath. At best, minimum 2 years for a positive change. I don't expect new models as I would cutbacks since it is a new cFo. 4) Congrats on the show!
Love the content. Love the format... but please, please, please invest in some sound reflection control, better mics or both. Hope to see more in the future! :) :) :)
I thought the jam with Daniel in Marks living room sounded good, but yeah, the room where he has the green screen needs to be properly treated for sure.
@@israelcox3570 Oh yeah, the natural reverb of the room on the Jam sounded great, but the spoken word stuff needs to be a lot clearer. Especially if Mark wants it to be to the quality of other stuff on UA-cam. :)
You’ve gotta get a proper mic setup man this show is gonna be awesome but a mic setup would make an enormous difference.
Tony Montoya i totally agree. Great show but i turned it off as audio was horrible
I agree. Pro audio = Pro show.
Although, pro mic's are always the way to go.... even this audio could benefit from some compression and noise reduction.
That was the first thing I noticed too.
Absolutely!!! Get a mic setup properly and it wil be perfect!!!

Yes. Because real show, real sound.
Everyone always blames the mic. The mic is fine. The room needs to be deadened a LOT and better mic placement would also help.
@@wingracer1614 Deaden sound in the room vs. getting the proper clip-on mics? I think the latter is far more reasonable.

Mark - The Show is Kool!!! Great to see you in a different expanded format - Honest content too. I’ve been watching GOTD for over a year and dig that you also embrace Country with the likes of Buck, Roy & Waylon. ~ ✌️🎸☮️
coment, it will be better if you have a real backround than that crappy green screen in the back
No way, that brick wall is awesome!
@@PinetopJackson ,😂😂😂🤣🤣
I don't see blue screen for a long time.
Great First episode. That was a perfect 25 min show. Looking forward to the next episodes and guests.
Loving the show! But Mark, please, invest in lapel mics!
Just what I needed, my favorite UA-cam guitarist starring in his own channel. Cheers to you Mark🍻
Hi Mark! I hope you're channel will grow fast but there are some things that should be changed.
1) I didn't like the way you spoke about The Andertons. I'm sure that many of your subscribers watch them (check out the comment section under the videos with Ariel Posen or Mary Spender). Just make good content as you do, without malicious comments like that
2) get a good lavalier mic. The sound is too roomy when you speak
3) That green screen doesn't look professional to be honest, I'd prefer the natural background
4) We all love Jen but in my opinion her laughs make it hard to watch the videos
Damn!!!! I'm not the only one who's thinking like this amongst a flood of fanboying comments!
THANKS!!
B-B Hammond Agree with all points.

Very cool! Very excited for the future episodes. Thanks Mark! This is just what is missing you are right!
Chill. Good luck.
:)
This is perfect for watching while I’m taking a dump! Thanks Mark!
That laugh.....needs to go. I think id prefer canned laughter to go with the logo :) Great first episode though!!
Thanks Mark, dig the background and logo. Appreciate what your doing here 🎉✌️
Frank Stallone hates the Mark Agnesi Show
Sylvester Stallone does not though.
@@GeorgeElliasVideos he's undecided at best
I fuckin love it, ya jagoff!

Love the new show. Mark is super cool guy n great guitar player n love that he's not trying to promote anything n keeping it simple n real. Jen is funny as always n really look forward to the new shows. Keep up the good work!
Love the show, excited for future episodes! However, Jen’s laughing and giggling throughout need to stop.
What a guitar player to start with! Daniel is absolutely one of the best about. Top 5 defiantly. Great show Mark. More! I'd love to hear Redd Volkaert tell you you about vintage telecasters.
I mean this in a really good way.. but does anyone else think that Mark looks a little bit like Grover from Sesame Street?... congratulations on the first show
Loved every minute Mark and Jen! Already can't wait until next Saturday! Great work! Peace
Mark...ya gotta get rid of the laugh track.
The most annoying thing about Normans videos has always been the silly laughter.
@@melvynobrien6193 and the ears scratching "byyyyyyye" at the end.
@@Oilid Dude. Ban the byeeeeeeee - the aural equivalent of waterboarding!
@@banthebyeeeeeee3060 🤣🤣🤣🤣👍
Really interesting interview with Daniel Donato - really neat to hear someone so young who has such an appreciation for old gear. Hope he does well in his career.
and jen-no need to giggle at every word
@Ronnie Hudson no its lame
@Ronnie Hudson You're a dick. It's lame.
Congrats from Brazil, long live to "TMAS"!!!
Bro, if Jen doesn't stop cackling and butting in off camera, good luck keeping subscribers.
The bar back turned you off of the big screen at one of the larger establishments here when people kept voicing their anger.
Just sayin.
You do you though bro.
😉👍
Mark, I have been a fan of yours since I first started watching your excellent "Guitar of the Day" spots. Keep up the great work! I like to see someone with as much passion for music, and a love of great instruments (whether vintage, or new) as you always show. Hopefully when I get out to Norm's some day soon to buy a guitar, I will get to meet you and shake your hand. God bless, and Happy Holidays !
Great show to both Jen and Mark! If you're open to suggestions:
- I think the news segment takes away from the show.
Please mic yourself, so we don’t hear homegirl laughing at everything.
Amen
Mike agreed!
Absolutely love the show...the interview with Daniel Donato...and, especially, the RANT! Do it Dude!
No more mic for the camera woman......please!
Great job!!!! Looking forward to episode 2........
The unseen lady laughing in the background is rough.
I’d agree with that. If she’s only going to be behind the camera she should not be part of the show.
Have you never watched guitar of the day?
Jose Krinkle yea, this isn’t that.
I watch GOTD everyday, I skip the giggly fluff at the beginning and stop it before the byeeeeee.
@@trimmoos Join me brother - ban the byeeeeeeee!
Awesome first episode Mark. Can't wait to see the next one.
Get a lav on Mark. Way too much room in the audio.
That was great!!! Good luck Mark and Jen, really enjoyed that---great job!!!!!!!!
Great start Mark and Jen. Big DD fan here too....I'm really looking forward to more episodes!!! Thanks for what you do!
