  • Howard University’s very own Alpha Chapter, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Incorporated has a record of executing robust service events, campus programming, and intentional engagements. What is less known about the chapter and its members is that most members have their own organizations and businesses while maintaining membership in Delta. Currently, over 12 chapter members have founded their own nonprofit organizations, LLCs, and startups to further their individual commitments to serving the community and advancing scholastically and professionally. From the Howard University Imprint Incorporated to The Movement Street Organization to Lashed By Ry, there are various organizations blossoming from Alpha Chapter Deltas. These organizations touch the lives of hundreds of individuals across the city of Washington DC through service, services, educational opportunities, and consumerism. According to Best Colleges, Black women are leading the nation in entrepreneurs with 42% of all entrepreneurs recorded being Black women. The correlation between the pillars of Delta: Sisterhood, Scholarship, and Service has translated into the many engagements of the entrepreneurs on and off Howard University’s campus.
