We arrive at Cromwell Lock on the River Trent ready to cruise the tidal section to Torksey Lock and the Fossdyke Navigation built by the Romans.
It's quite a short video as we're also working on the next two videos to be uploaded within the next week. Three videos in a week! You lucky folk 🤣

Just catching up on one or two of your videos of missed at Cromwell lock on the river Trent at the other side is a little Beach I’ve played on that beach as a child. Nice to see it Again

I love how you said the heatwave probably wouldn’t happen! Luckily, we were on the Norfolk Broads that week, and while it was jolly hot, cooler than it would have been at home. The hottest day we managed to find a wild mooring under shade of trees. Isn’t this boating lark wonderful.

The walk , from the Torksey Lock, is beautiful for taking our dog for a walk. We were hoping to walk all the way to Saxilby, but haven't ventured that yet. Lovely video.

I read somewhere that the Romans built the Foss Dyke to gain access to the Trent and then the Yorkshire rivers and places like York etc. Really enjoying your journeys and adventures.

We have definitely been in the best place on the river. I hate to think what London was like.
There are some free moorings in the village of Saxilby which has a few shops

You're in foreign territory for me although I have visited Cambridge way back in my history .
I hear from various sources that water levels are way down due to the drought and many canals have restrictions. So thanks once more for a nice vlog ,stay safe stay afloat ,mind the sandbanks.

There were so many blackberries and Horseradish near Boston as well as a plantation of apples and pears, but unfortunately not ripe yet. We are not permitted to dig up roots without permission so I tried the horseradish greens which I loved, but too bitter for Rich. I loved your pickle recipe which I will make if I can get some small cucumbers.

We only went against the tide for a short while but the boat coped well on this stretch. I think we have been in the right place while the water is so low, but we did have a problem later on in the journey. Keep watching over the next week or so!!!!!

Rivers can be scary. This river gets faster and scarier as we move on
Calmer waters where you are now on the canal. ( someone I know spotted you) Look out for the kingfishers with it being so quiet. Enjoy this lovely canal.

What a different experience a river is! Such a frightening weir. The drought and the heat are creating a scorcher of a summer. I hope you are managing to find cool spots for yourselves and the dogs.
The weir was incredible especially from above. We have a lovely shady mooring for a few days now so are keeping beautifully cool

But don't miss Lincoln on the way back. The Brayford is a lovely place now, and walk up steep hill to the cathedral and see if you can find the 'imp'

It is so fast when you are going with the flow, but we went against it a few days ago and almost stopped!
Haven't quite got my head around how there are weirs on a tidal river, or have I misunderstood that?
There are no weirs after this lock where the river becomes tidal. This is the last lock and the weir drops the level of the river

Have listened to news reports about canal water levels, have you been blocked from entering certain sections of canals and what’s it like cruising in this heat ps: hope your still enjoying your self
We have been ok as we were on rivers but have had to change plans a little as some canals ahead of us are closed

I need to know about washing machines on narrowboats, is yours a washer dryer? Which did you buy? Help? New inexperienced buyer.
We just went for a basic washing machine which uses less water. No dryer as it would eat to much energy unless you are plugged in a marina. On the last boat we managed really well with a camping twin tub.

Hi fran hi rich when your not in a marina how do you know where you can and can't Moore up for free and where you have to pay and for how long you can and can't stay hope that makes sense it won't be long for me now I've been looking for a boat now fair play to you both english countryside absolutely beautiful 👍👍
You can generally moor anywhere on canals for free for up to two weeks unless there is a sign saying otherwise. Rivers are different as there are shallow banks and nowhere to moor onto unless there are pontoons/
