I'm a saxophonist, interested to try playing the flute out of curiosity (and to have a composing instrument while travelling, which is small enough to carry?). There is a caveat, though, which scares me a little: as much as the saxophone is a very agile and precise instrument, capable of great dynamics ... to my ears the flute sounds like the opposite of it. It appears inert or "lazy" in tone production, imprecise for any faster staccato playing, there is always some "ghosting", echo of previous notes. Even the professional flautists, no matter what genre, when I'm listening to their playing, their sound seems to always be "lagging behind" the exact rhythm. Maybe the airflow in the flute is too slow, and all of that is to be expected? Thanks a lot!

I’m sure you know to say “tuh-kuh” as the syllables to help you get it out, basically it’s just using the tip of your tongue for the first one and the middle of your tongue for the second one. I would just recommend practicing it a lot, with a metronome, gradually speeding up

@@cjf5521 yeah it’s one of those things, you hate playing with metronomes because your time is bad, but the thing that will help your time get better is practicing with a metronome! Just make sure you’re practicing stuff slow enough and if you need to draw in downbeats to visually show yourself where the metronome is clicking, don’t be afraid to do that!
