Flagstaff Mountain - Angie Coyle Quintet
lots of great information. Thank you. I have a question ! What flute do you play ?
@@harppsricprince I play on a Pearl Quantz, I like it a lot - although I plan to upgrade when I can afford to!
Fantastic tone and playing! What mouthpiece and horn is that?
Thanks! It’s a Tenor Madness horn and the mouthpiece is a Jody Jazz super jet 7*
@ That’s awesome!
Sounds lovely !
Good playing! Good rhythm
Pretty tune
Beautiful kit, sounds great. I cobbled together a “drum kit” of sorts recently. Got myself a laptop cajon for some percussion to put on demos. Kind of grew into a cajon percussion kit, and from there into a full drumkit, but with pancake toms and bass drum (some of which I made from parts) a bit at a time. Because once you have a laptop cajon, may as well play it with brushes, and then may as well add a hi hat. And if you’ve got a high hat may as well have a ride………..and if you’ve got them, may as well just get a piccolo snare……….and so it goes. Originally intended to track constituent parts separately. the Long story short, once you’ve got a drum kit in front of you……kind of hard NOT to just knuckle down and start learning it. Am a guitar player of many years, never thought I’d be able to play the drums……too much going on at once. But surprising how fast it comes once you’re sat in front of a kit 🤪 I’ll never be buddy rich, but as long as it’s bringing me joy………..
Oh, thanks!
Excellent tone and articulation!
Lovely!
Brilliant
That’s lovely!
Nice tone Angie !
Great video! What is the notation for flute growl? I am writing a flute obbligato for a friend to play and I would like to indicate growl in the music.
There isn’t a standardized way of writing it honestly because people use it a lot more in improvisation than in written music. Some people use the symbol that’s usually used for trumpet shakes, but I wouldn’t expect a flute player to know what to do with that symbol. I have a Jethro Tull transcription book that just writes “sing” when they want you to growl. You could also just write “growl”
👌🏼🎶🎸🎸🎸🎶👍🏼🔥🌅
Thnku for class
As a Spanish speaker it's really easy to roll the R's
I have found it insanely hard to roll my R’s, but to know that you can also do it in the back of your throat is somewhat reassuring! Thank you for this!
🎷 ❤
Nice playing!
For what it's worth, I'm also very happy that I quit my first post grad job!
👍
Thanks for mentioning my 2 favorites Joe Farrell and James Moody
i dig it...
thanks...your a gifted teacher
this is the way i dig a clarinet to be played..
i really dig the clarinet !...thank you
A guy with a great mix of both: Hubert Laws
i dig your sound.
😎👍
Thank you so much! I liked how you explained it!! I still can’t maintain it, but I’m working on it!
🔥
😍😍😍
Very nice.
I general, all good content… but the frequent insertion of “like” when it’s not a comparison, is a peeve of mine. Once you hear it, can’t ignore it. Distracts from the message.
What Bari do you play on
This is a Jupiter actually, it belongs to a jazz program I teach for, I don’t own my own
Wow!
Great.
I played tenor saxophone about 30 years ago. And it didn't sound like that. 😉
First comment. My sister played flute when we were kids. It didn't sound like that. Of course that was over 40 years ago.
This is an alto flute, so it's a lot lower than a regular flute, that's probably a big reason. I'm also a professional so will be able to produce a better tone than a young student, so there's that too!
@@angiecoyle130 I was being silly. Just wanted to acknowledge your talent with a comment. Good job. God Bless.
Oh gotcha haha! Thanks 🙏🏻
Lol I CANNOT do that - at all. Bravo! 👏🏼
Some people have a really hard time rolling their Rs, but it is a skill that can be learned if you work on it!
@@angiecoyle130 Are you using throat or toung ?
Very talented 🎶
Rad
