@@pontiffsulyvahn9527 What are you talking about? 1 person died and 3 were seriously injured. Driver was okay. Couldn't found more info for those 3 people.
Just a heads up for those who are not French : the car was a taxi, the driver said that the car accelerated on its own, it's a known problem of automatic cars, the driver mistake the acceleration pedal for the break pedal, and the car just accelerates out of control, it's even more of a problem on fast cars such as Teslas, those cars can reach extreme speeds in seconds, and before the driver is able to recognize his mistake, the car crashes. I don't believe it was intentionnal, there is absolutely no way to drive at that speed in Paris without killing someone, bikes are everywhere, they run red lights all the time, pedestrians too, you don't intentionally go that fast for "fun". Besides, driving at that speed instantly revokes your driving license, and the guy was a taxi, so I don't think he would mess with that. I think it really was a driving mistake, an investigation is ongoing
@@TheLibermania The driver claims that the car accelerated on its own, Tesla claims that it didn't. The most likely option at this point is that the driver slammed the acceleration pedal thinking it was the brake pedal, dozens of this type of incidents happen every year, the really bad ones (who cause casualties) mostly concern Tesla cars because they have a very sharp acceleration, making that mistake very unforgiving, but this type of incident has been known for decades on various car makers.

The car’s speeding and eventual sound of the crash gives me chills. I’ve seen and heard such accidents multiple times. Bro. It’s “hear”. Plus you can hear everyone quietly talking and eating. Not hard to hear a 5,000 pound block of steel and plastic slamming into other cars at a high rate of half from the camera.
I don't understand why most commentators seem to automatically assume that it is the driver's fault? He did say that the car accelerated on it's own and that the brakes didn't work. And this is a very experienced taxi driver with no history of of doing anything like that. Look at the the street - does it look like a place where someone would intentionally go at that speed? I mean, Tesla is a new type of a car with a lot of electronic controls and self-driving capability - if I am to chose between the reliability of my laptop and that of a mechanical calculator, I have to say - the latter never gave me a blue screen.
I had a Nissan pickup truck and one day on the freeway while on bumper to bumper traffic the gas just automatically revved to max and I lunged forward, I pressed on brakes and immediately switched to neutral gear and the RPMs were still revving up. I turned off the truck and turned it back on and it was back to normal. I don’t trust any car since and always ready to switch to neutral. I spoke to Nissan and they looked at me like I was crazy. Probably 1 in a million hiccup but if it’s your day, then you better know what to do.
Long story short, I drove manual for 20 years then moved to US and been driving automatic for 20 years. Not once had my feet been confused about which pedal is which. Those pedals don't even feel the same way, one is easy to squeeze, the other gets harder as you push. You cannot push the accelerator all the way for a second and still think you are on the brakes. He floored it for at least 4 seconds if not more. He's either a criminal or the worse driver to ever live. Stupidity should not be an excuse, prison is what he deserves.
I used to confuse the brake pedal with the clutch at walking speeds (gone from manuals to an auto), but it wasn't really dangerous, just made me look silly. Confusing the brake and the accelerator, he must be driving with both feet to do that, which would be a stupid way to drive. And to do that long enough to reach crazy speeds, even on Tesla, kinda weird. But you see videos of people confusing pedals or gears, and driving into lamposts at speed.

@@terra2805 Nope, not true. Most (all) cars are tested to see if while stomping on the gas the brakes still hold the car before the design is approved. This happened to Audi in the 70's - they almost went out of business because of these liars. Some lady in China tried this against Tesla before she was found guilty for lying - Tesla presented the car's data to show the brake was never depressed. Will be the same thing here. Almost 2 million Teslas are on the road - why would this occur to just a couple of their vehicles.

Stupid me for thinking Toyota would find the cause of the mechanical failure. If this was caused by a defect in Tesla car don't expect Tesla to admit it, especially if they are the ones doing post collision inspection. Always get third party inspection.
This is why you can’t trust electric vehicles, they can be controlled from far away. Always purchase a manual transmission where you are in complete control of the vehicle. Just put it in neutral if it begins to act out
These smart cars need to have some auto speed programming for driving in the city. Like, when the driver want to do this kind of racing mode on the city's street, they will automatically warn the driver and cut the connection from the manual drive into an automatic drive that allow the car control it's movement. Like, " no Sir you can't do that, I will take over from now until you sober or we are out of the city or just stop". It would be good, I mean plus we have a companion to talk.
So did the car it on its own or did the driver make a mistake?
Thanks for clearing that up
@@TheLibermania The driver claims that the car accelerated on its own, Tesla claims that it didn't.

So the car was stopped at a red light.. Then suddenly accelerated into a cyclist before continuing to accelerate down a street and into a row of posts, bicycles, people and cars. He was a professional driver, at work, and not drunk. Doesn't sound like an inner city speeding problem to me. It sounds like something actually went terribly wrong.
The fault was with the vehicle. That is without question. Tesla have a lawsuit against them over this incident.

@@M3rVsT4H Work car. He was showing off to friends and family while off duty. Sad but not Tesla's fault.
The main question is, was this deliberate or was there a technical malfunction with the car where the driver had no control?
That's what I was wondering too.
Well according to the video description Tesla said there was no sign of technical fault in the taxi car that crashed.
I wanted to know that too, because it says a taxi service suspended the use of Teslas after this crash, but if this was a human's deliberate choice, they could do it with any make of car.
Tesla's has an autopilot feature that allows auto steering, braking and accelerating which has caused fatal crashes in the past. Looks like a malfunction to me
Teslas are trash.
It's so eery watching these videos. I always wonder what the people who died was thinking or doing before... you know. And it always gives me a sense of helplessness, you know what's coming but can't stop it or help afterwards. I hope the driver gets what's coming to them. Wishing nothing but the best for families affected.
i saw this video a few weeks ago that showed a cop trying to pull over a motorcyclist but the motorcyclist was fleeing. the cop reported to dispatch that he was suspending the chase and literally seconds later, the motorcyclist hit a car head on that was waiting to turn. the cop went over immediately and the biker was dead. it was so insane thinking about how they had zero idea that they died because they died on impact. the thoughts and feelings he was experienced are gone. his death affected so many people and he doesn’t even know it.
My thoughts always go there too with fatal accidents especially plane crashes where sometimes people have seconds too many to think about their impending doom. Actually having time to see death inch closer and closer with no means of escape must be terrifying.
