In Italy, instead, when someone dies, it's common to express your sadness by crying, we don't pay someone to do that like in India, but we tend not to repress our feelings. Even when we meet a person we know, we tend to express our friendship by kissing or shaking hands

It is also important to notice that each culture in certain periods have distinctive ways to show sadness. In Victorian time, the British was to be the conquerer so they had to keep the stiff upper lip or in other words put up a brave front. However, this is an unhealthy pratice as it hinders emotion expressions, which later make someone feel repressed.

Depression is both.. Some people get depressed due to a long period of sadness and others get it due to health problems
