    Saw you at the start ....nah can't be Matt , he's doing Valencia. Hope you enjoyed the run around Dublin, I think it's a cracking race with a fair course...but I'm biased.

    I recently did the same. Six weeks out from CIM I ran my local marathon. Great experience I got 2nd which is very motivating. I cut back the next week pretty hard but I can tell m getting fit. Good luck in all your races.

    Congrats was my 6th Dublin on Sunday 3 weeks after Chicago and Dublin wins the atmosphere stakes hands down, obviously the atmosphere builds as the day moves on. Love the phoenix Park the second time, so quiet for that mile or so.

    Fantastic training run!! Managed to get round it myself. Weather played ball and the support was fantastic. Good luck for Valencia.

    This was really impressive Matt. I love your channel as well as your wife's. You did a FANTASTIC job recording the atmosphere and lead up to the race. I know I've run marathons 3 weeks apart and I'll be honest, the 2nd one did NOT go as planned. I am definitely not an elite runner but it was a slog. I like how you identified the risks of running a full marathon near your goal race and I know the feeling of wanting to race / test yourself very well. Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing what you can do in Valencia.

    Well done Matt, you make it look so easy. My DCM didn't quite go as well as yours.... If you slowed down an hour or so to 3:30 you'd have seen 10x more supporters but I suppose that's not really an option for you!! 🤣🤣 Best of luck for Valencia

    Great vlog of the course. I did it myself and am lucky enough to do a lot of my training runs in the park. It was quite tough out there I thought. Well done on your run.

    Amazing 👏 🙀 Sunday was my first marathon and as expected I hit the wall on km 19 but thank God I managed to finish it in 3h44m. 😊 I have to practice the fuel before the race.. I just took a gel just before the kick off as I am not used to eat in the mornings.. but I will introduce it maybe like u did, wake up earlier to have plenty of time for digestion . And congratulations Matt.. Great video and race

    Hello Matt
    When you run a long distance finishing strong it will always boost you. I have ran over 50 marathons, including a few 50+km... when I was younger I got some PBests on the 10k, the week after... now injuries have slowed me down, but I don't think I'll ever stop... Sean from Naples, Italy

    Superbly put together diary of your great stealth run!! The rice, I 'once' tried a packet cold on a hike and it's so claggy and hard to get down! Anyway, epic training run! Such a result at atb for Valencia!

    I ran Essex marathon a few weeks back, and have another 'A' race marathon in a few weeks. I didn't hit my goal in Essex, but new it was a 'free' race. If I nailed it, great. If I didn't, it would serve as a good training run. Just need to nail the next one now 😬

    I usually hit a full 26 mile progression run in training for a marathon, has always worked quite well!

      Thanks. I will be having rice. I am not sure where I am eating yet but it will be rice as boring as it comes. Legs feel great. I have done a couple of light sessions this week and I am excited to build again next week.

    Mmmmmh so 4hrs before a race. I wasn't sure. I've been eating 2hrs before my races. And last week, I had kinda had a stich or some sort of minor stomach pain.

      Thanks. 2 x small soft flasks (150ml) with 100g of carbs in each (I got through 1.5 of them). Put one soft flask in each of the back pockets on the Soar Marathon Shorts. I had a back up Maurten (which I didn’t use) on one of the gel loops on the front. Optional as I’ve done it both ways but I use a flipbelt over the top of everything to keep everything nice and stable and no bouncing around. It’s all been trial and error for me but this is now what I’ll use on race day. I think everyone needs to try out what works for them.

    Matt, always love your "All In" mentality.
    Based on watching some recent videos, I had Felton down for fastest you tuber by the close of 2022. Who knows!? Maybe Nick Bester holds out.... that said if you can keep it all together a big PR is on the cards come December for you.
    Like your alternative approach! With the wave of prominent running youtubers getting sponsored by Soar and showing their Marathon builds to upcoming targets your guys begining to create mini a mini sub narratives to anyone interested in Marathons.     Great run Matt, really hope it comes together for Valencia. Looking at your HR data I'd be interested to know what your max HR is and what % of max HR range you run in for the marathon? Cheers and all the best.

      Thanks. Max HR is about 192. For this marathon I averaged 87%. I have averaged as high as 92% in a marathon but at that intensity I blew up. It will be interesting to see what I can hold in the main event.

    Most users don't think about this, but all those shots where you were just walking by the camera, walking out of the hotel, etc... You had to set up the camera, hit record, walk over to your shot, walk by the camera, walk back and pickup the camera and stop the recording. Then of course, edit all of this together too. Anyways, great job! Both on the video and the race!!! Setting the bar high for the rest of us RunTubers ;-)

    QQ: about your rice for breakfast, how did you heat it up? Did the room have a microwave ?

      I ate it cold. It’s already cooked but tbh I struggled because it didn’t soften up without being warmed. I did contemplate an AirBnB so that I would have a microwave but there were none suitable available when I booked.

      @@TheWelshRunner thanks, noticed you mentioned in the video straight after. Is rice normally your go to then? Normally using the microwave. I struggle on breakfast that’s easy to consume. I know Phil sesemann has the pots/tin of ready to eat rice pudding.

    also had that inst360 and it has a horrible battery life. Sold it long time ago. If Id ever choose to run with a cam again Id opt for the heavier, old gopro hero session 4 or 5
