    I'm all set up on pedestals. Everything seems rock solid level but the machines do vibrate back and forth a bit. Is that because of the pedestals? Can anyone say if that is normal? It's not making any noise and all legs are firmly on the floor.

      I would recommend looking at sites like Consumer Reports which tracks reliability of different brands as they will check longer term repairs with many machines versus one person with one machine. Some people take care of their machines, others don’t clean or balance them or overload them which can cause issues early on. Also in general, the more fancy features you have, the more likely one thing might break. Good luck!

    great review as we just bought this same pair yesterday and love them, however the lint catcher on the washer was loose and I freaked when it started pouring water all over. I hope they calibrated it at the store for it doesn't seem to work here but just goes to the setting that I'm on

    Don't over fill the liquid detergent. they run more effective on even lower. also the suds caused by the liquid detergent is what causes mold due to not enough water.

    • @cadonbarton5690
      @cadonbarton5690 6 років тому +1

      Not really. You are kinda right and kinda wrong. You get mold and mildew from not drying the glass door, inside and outside of the rubber gasket, and not leaving the door open after each use. Plus you need to run the washer through a tub clean with Tide Washer cleaner.

    I will be returning mine (WF50K7500AV) after only one week and 9 loads of laundry. I noticed that it failed to perform a complete wash cycle on a bathroom area rug 21"X 32" about an inch thick. It struggled to go into the spin cycle due to imbalance of the soaking wet rug. Also, the PowerFoam feature is not impressive, as well as the wash jet and water level.

    Hi there HTD. I have a question, I have a smaller version Samsung front load. Do your sheets get terribly wrinkled and creased after washing? Especially the top parts and thicker ends of the pillowcases? I am so disappointed that my sheets and jeans khakis get wrinkled to the point of permanent creases ...I only put one queen sized set in the machine..

    • @Hightechdad
      @Hightechdad  6 років тому +1

      Well, that is an interesting question. There are a bunch of variables potentially. If you overload it, it might twist during the spin cycle. If you have mixed heaviness of sheets (e.g., flannel and cotton), things might twist as well as it get unbalanced. I usually use the bedding setting when I do it, but yes, I sometimes get twisted sheets. But, that usually comes out in the dry cycle (unless of course, you get a pillow case balled up in a sheet which does happen too). I haven't found the perfect way to do both wash and dry for sheets yet. I do set the dryer setting a bit higher though, and sometimes stop the dry cycle mid way so that I can un-ball or un-twist things.

      +Gloria Robles as you know, HE stands for High Efficiency so by design it uses a lot less water than top loaders. I haven't had any issues and clothes are clean.

    • @taradead
      @taradead 7 років тому

      unlike old style top loaders, HE washers clean more by beating clothes than just agitating them in sudsy water. This means you shouldn't put too many clothes in the drum or they wont be able to slam against the sides of the drum. This slamming action allows you to also use less detergent and still get clothes fairly clean.

    Hi HighTechDad,
    Do you think you could do a video on installing the smart adapter in the compartment on top of the machine and connecting to my phone? I love mY washer and it is super awesome. Bought theadapter but it seems I installed it wrong. Just clueless in regard to what to do. Please do a video, I am more of a visual learner and would greatly appreciate your help.

    • @Hightechdad
      @Hightechdad  7 років тому +1

      +tru rae The install process is pretty easy. You simply slide the adapter into the slot, power on the washer or dryer, launch the Samsung app, connect via WiFi directly to the adapter for the initial configuration, choose your regular WiFi account, and you are done. I don’t think the adapter likes 5 ghz WiFi though so you need to have a 2.4 Ghz WiFi available. Good luck!

    On a similar machine, I just replaced my drum support which has failed, due to corrosion. We have been using the machine for about 4 years. Expect another failure in 4 years. I do not understand why Samsung uses such poor metal that corrodes so badly.
    Outside of this serious weakness, the machine seems quite nicely built. Had I not done the job myself, it would have been an expensive repair.

    • @yambo59
      @yambo59 7 років тому

      Given the advanced knowledge todays engineers possess, I have to think its either A: Irresponsible and mindless cost cutting, or B: Planned obsolescence. And unless Samsungs engineers are total blithering idiots I have to go with "B" planned obsolescence. We know too much about metal properties and metallurgy today to even consider they didn't know how long this pot metal drum support would last. Seeing how cheaply made and short lived washers and appliances have become since the 80's, it just shows the manufacturers have stopped competing on the grounds of build quality and longevity and have switched to building throw away appliances to increase turn over and profits - translation: we buy washers every three years now instead of ever 20 or 30. The maytag repairman is lonely no more, hes a very busy man.

    • @RRaucina
      @RRaucina 7 років тому +4

      Maytag got busy when they destroyed the town of Amana Iowa, by closing one of the best and oldest factories in the country. I can't find a small refrigerator since that is not made in Mexico. Someone tweet Trump and let him know.

    • @yambo59
      @yambo59 7 років тому

      I believe he said "similar" machine, so I assume its older. If yours is new it remains to be seen what kind of problems you may have, hopefully youre right if the issue has been corrected in your new model. But Samsung would likely make this known if they did improve it given all the problems theyre having with the almost 3 million machine recall due to property damage and even a couple personal injuries from exploding washing machines. Theyre gonna to have to do a lot of convincing at some point to gain sales back, its a shame because I used to think of Samsung as a quality brand - with some models of washers blowing up and Galaxy 7's catching fire its going to take awhile. A friend of mine bought a 55" TV last Christmas and the screen went out just past the one year warranty, but he called just to see if they might help him out but they stood on the warranty period and would not help as he was three weeks past the end date. So his one year old $650 TV went to the recycler and he did not buy another Samsung. To be fair most all brand TV's today have a shorter life, I have 2 19" old Sharp brand CRT TV's in my house that are over 20 years old and still work, but we wont get that kind of life out of anything today in the new throw away manufacturing mentality.

    • @yambo59
      @yambo59 7 років тому +1

      After my 40 year old GE Filterflo needed replacing I wasn't fooled for a minute by the flashy and lightly built junk I saw in the big box stores. I bought a new Speed Queen and I am very pleased. It does what a good quality washing machine is supposed to do - wash clothes well in about a half hour, they smell clean look clean and the best warranty in the business. No flashy circuit boards to fail or mold or exploding garbage like Samsungs. The Speed Queen is a no drama workhorse that doesn't need to play show tunes or go on the internet. No error codes or long cycle times, just set the controls and the load is done and clean in a half hour, and I choose how much water NOT the machine. I LOVE my new Speed Queen.

    • @yambo59
      @yambo59 7 років тому

      I agree, it seems this might be a decent machine if they would use something besides pot metal for the drum supports. From what I gather after a time the bearing wears from high spin speeds and this makes the seal start to leak. The water, soap and other chemicals eat away at the cheesy pot metal and it just dissolves into powder, you can see the results in other YT videos. You cant tell me the engineers couldn't foresee this or even try to correct it once the problem was identified. I strongly suspect planned obsolescence or just plain poor engineering and lack of interest in fixing it. Either way its a damn poor design for whats supposed to be a high end product costing over $1,000 dollars.

    So I bought this washer in 2016. It has now been 1 year. I bought it based on the positive reviews.After 1 year, I started to get "oil" looking stains on my clothing and noticed the machine was rough and pilling all my clothing. To make this review short, I needed a new drum. Extended warranty covered the drum and repairs which was $800. However, $1200 if I paid for it. Go figure.The tech found it was the bearing and the part around it was giving off the grease. I was told my unit wasn't built right.
    Next, my addwash door started to leak when I was running the tub clean. Upon further investigation, I noticed the latch on the door was starting to disintegrate. Tech came in and said the seal wasn't placed on the door right and my door was about to fall off. It seems the tub clean produces a lot of water that made its way up. That was another $150 just for the door and not labor so at that point my warranty decided to give me another unit. So, I've had an LG unit, pretty bad. Bought Samsung, pretty bad. Whirlpool, pretty bad. What's left?
    I bought the washer as it was the biggest drum on the market for a front loader. 5.8My Duvet for my king size bed fit in it.I don't want to re purchase the same model, so I'm forced to buy a smaller unit which will no longer accommodate my duvet.
    All these companies seem to delete negative reviews and only keep the positive. No one cares about customer service anymore. I had to fight with Samsung to have a Tech come out who knew what they were talking about. That didn't exist so I hired someone with a good rep on my own dime. Seems all washers are crap these days.

      That's what I did with my Samsung Refrigerator. It is covered through SAMSUNG for 6 years. I will be getting an LG front load washer dryer set to replace my current 14 1/2-year-old Whirlpool Duet washer dryer front loading set. I will be pulling an extra 5-year warranty on the new washer and dryer as well. My SAMSUNG range and the dishwasher is covered for 4 years because we pulled the extra 3-year warranty.

Ive had my SQ since September and totally pleased, check the YT reviews and videos on SQ, simple commercial grade old school top loaders with old school reliability, great performance and great warranty, cant beat it for quality and value.

Two have been friends of mine who also knew how the new top loaders were but their wives were taken in by the blinking lights and fancy paint. One convinced his wife to buy a SQ by just showing her the videos and reviews. Another gave up and let her get what she wanted and it hasn't broken down yet but shes complaining its not getting the clothes clean as her old washer and doesn't hold enough water. I realize im talking about top loaders, some folks have better luck with front loaders but they have problems with bearings and drum supports etc etc. -- my old GE filterflo lasted 40 years and still going but the outer tub is starting to rust, wont get half that time out of anything new today

Our GE front loader was a dream compared to this junk. So disappointed and thankfully we got the extended warranty because we're certain a complete failure will occur. Yes, it's been balanced, calibrated, etc.

      The size of my laundry didn't work right for the opening. Also for us it made more sense to have the dryer closer to the door. And our gas hookup was closer. You can't run a gas line coupled with another for a long run. It's against code in our area. Lots of reasons why we did it that way.

      Quote: does all kinds of fancy things, wait till he finds out it doesn't wash clothes all that well and only lasts like 2 - 3 years.
      I'm currently looking for a set and EVERY single one I look at has negative reviews which ALL say the exact same thing. They don't clean the clothes or use enough water. They tangle or damage the clothes. They grow mold. Dryers that don't dry and everything breaks or leaks.
      You will not find ONE set of washer/dryers on earth that doesn't have a customer who has had a bad experience. The numbers of negative reviews are too high in my opinion. It makes it likely that I too will end up with something less than satisfactory. Seems to me like manufactures design products to fail on purpose these days. Some of those 30 year old washing machines are STILL kicking! Yet these junky smart washer/dryers don't seem to last more than 3-5 years in many cases.

    • @yambo59

      I can tell ya your best bet is a (commercial duty) SPEED QUEEN, I bought a top loader with old school mechanical knob timer in September of 2016 and its the best washer ive ever had. Its made like the old school top loaders, similar to Maytags from the 70's and all you have to do is watch the YT videos and read the reviews, they last and perform a hundred times better than the new techno junk that's being pushed now. Theyre not cheap but actually cheaper in the long run than the expensive ones like the Samsung in the above video. I bought one of the old school ones with just a mechanical timer and cost was around $849 and killer warranty included, with the touch pad model about $200 more -- but its a no drama machine, plain looking but its a reliable workhorse and does the job with none of the issues weve heard so much about in other HE washer reviews - clothes come out clean and smelling good every time and a load is done in about a half hour, slightly longer if you select the extra rinse. They also have a great warranty, stainless steel inner wash tub and ENAMELED STEEL outer wash tub (not plastic!) are warranted for the life of the machine, motor for ten years and transmission I think is fifteen years - and they claim the machine has a 20 to 25 year service life or 10,400 cycles. The rest of the machine is a 3 to five year overall warranty depending on model. To check these facts in case im wrong go to the Speed Queen web site. If theres any downside, Speed Queen is primarily a commercial duty machine company who build for Laundromats and hotels and they only make home tub sizes up to about 3.5 cu ft., but don't let that stop you they perform more like 4.0 cu. ft. I washed my king size bedspread with no problems, and according to the manual this is the suggested limit. Also, I think they have phased out the mechanical timer model and now they only have the touch pad controls, but again don't let that deter you. The touch pad is mil spec (military specification) and its warranted for 5 years. Look up some of the S.Q. reviews and videos on Y.T., its become the go to machine after people have thrown away two or three of the new HE machines. They also make an excellent front loader and though im told theyre fairly pricey those that have them love them. Also you wont find them in big box stores, you will have to find a Speed Queen dealer in your area, the SQ website lists all approved dealers, and you also might watch the SQ factory floor video on YT, they run each and every machine throught a full test cycle, and shows inside the factory where they build and test them in Ripon, Wisconson, right here in the good old USA. I have one and LOVE it.

    Thank you for your review but I would never purchase any of these convoluted machines to appease or Federal Government. I will only use proven machines which are built well and use common sense for doing laundry. Those are old school top load fully submerged agitator machines such as old Maytag, Whirlpool, and my preferred choice which would be Speed Queen the best machine built and made in America.

Could not be happier with my S.Q., hope others save themselves and stop buying the flashy new HE junk and realize a washer doesn't need failure prone computer boards and flashy internet capable touchpads to wash clothes - we had excellent long life great performing washing machines in this country for 50 years and not a circuit board or error code in sight, now we have high priced flashy throw away junk with a 2 to 4 year life span and error code nightmares, short warranties etc.

I expected to heat the coverage of it’s functions, and only heard 2+2 basic stuff that is obvious even for a child. Thanks for nothing.
