  • Samsung Front Loader Washer and Dryer Review WF520ABP - DV520AEP
    - Short video showing the Samsung PowerFoam washer with VRT plus Steam going through all of its cycles as well as a short video of the dryer and a final quick review at the end.
    Overall we really like this pair Samsung came out with...couldn't find many reviews when we were looking to get a new washer and dryer so thought I would post this to hopefully help people with their buying decision.
    Need a gift idea....check out this website:

    I have this exact set and both washer and dryer are great machines, love all the available features. But like any other front loading washing machine make sure you keep them clean. The little door at the bottom of the washing machine is were you need to drain the excess water that gathers from washing (very stinky) and pull out the filter and wash it often! Also make sure to wipe the rubber seal in the door and pull it back and wipe down very regularly

    Thank you for sharing this video especially the sound (or lack thereof) of the washer. It was so quiet- the noise of my LG Tromm washer that is almost 10 yrs old was drowning out your video as I'm doing a load of laundry right now. I purchased this Samsung washer today at Lowe's for a great deal- to be delivered on June 1- and it sounds like from comparing your video to my current LG- I made the right choice. I'm tired of my washing machine shaking my entire house and ready to put this new washer to work! Thanks again!

      I've had my washer for a month now and no complaints whatsoever! The only noise I hear on occasion is the washer knocking a couple of knocks prior to the spin cycle to ensure the clothes are evenly distributed before taking off at lightning speed....:)

      I have the Samsung washer and it's still quieter than my LG was- but my LG was quiet when we first got them 10 yrs ago.

    And I really love the washer, but I came from an old school top loader so I don't have a lot to compare too. The dryer has a few nice features with the steam function, the shoe rack, and the eco modes. But, I would defintely agree with you on the large sheets/blankets issue. They do get balled up and when that happens they stay damp in the middle unless you open the door an re-arrange them. My last dryer did the same thing so doesn't bother me too much.

    I have the same washer but it's a Kenmore (Sears).. This particular Kenmore is made by Samsung and looks to be exactly the same as this model.. same jingle and everything when you turn it on.. I am very happy with the Kenmore Band made by Samsung :)

    I just purchased this set only in blue from Lowes yesterday. They have this President Sale going on, I got the set for 1000. I've never had front loaders so I'm very excited. I also have been without a dryer for two years so I can't wait to have soft clothes again.

  • @cordogTV
    @cordogTV  12 років тому +1

    Yea, I think it works very well. The soap seems to flow through everything a little better and is supposed to be more gentle on your clothes. I went to this model coming from an old top load model washer and dryer so these Samsungs are crazy awesome in comparison. :-)

    My VRT steam lasted ~7 years. When we went to buy a new washer we met another couple who had the same 7 y.o. VRT and their's had just died. The problem is the spider gear. (the thing that holds the drum to the shaft) It seems to be designed to fail. It is made from an alloy that corrodes. (designed obsolescence)

    No stink from this bad boy. Just run the santize feature once every month or two and it kills any mold/germs that reside. I also leave the washer door cracked when not in use, so it can breathe/dry completely.

    Thank you for this great review because Samsung is the brand we are going to purchase to replace a pair of JUNK Whirlpool Duet Washer & Dryer that we purchased new 7 years and they have been nothing but a nightmare as far as needed constant repair which has nearly reached the price we paid for both of them, and to top it off a lot of my wife's delicate articles have been ruined because they get caught between the front gasket and the spinning drum which results in clothes being torn.

    My washer is on the other side of the wall from the hot water heater so water doesn't have to travel far to reach the machine. Like I said, it cleans great (even though it barely uses water and the power foam is more an ad gimmick than an actual cleaning tool - IMO. HE detergent is made to create fewer suds so it won't make the suds that the ads show, right?). Ultimately, it's the dryer I want to throw out into the street. Only the high price I paid for the dryer keeps me from doing that.

  • @cordogTV
    @cordogTV  12 років тому +1

    Yea, your right about the suds. I get some suds, but not like in the ad lol.

    5 for me, but I guess it's all on what you are looking for. I came from a really really old top loader and these Samsung's crush my old washer/dryer combo in every way.......and knock on would have had them for about a year and half now and have not had a single problem yet. As for the energy, I believe I've saved money month to month. Hard to say the amount exactly as there are lots of variables with my utility bills, but I'd say they are certainly more effecient than my old units.

  • @malissa456

    hahaha yea some may get lucky. We tried everything. We got an exchange for a top loader and life has been so much better since. The stink is gone and my headaches are gone, too! I was allergic to all that horrible mold.

    My Samsung dyer drum failed after nearly exactly 2.5 years. The drum cracked in 2 different spots and after a half hour on the phone, they would not replace it. I was very polite and stated that Samsung needed to stand behind its product, citing that the company is "highest rated in customer satisfaction with clothes dryers," according to J.D. Power and Associates. I stated that numerous people have had this problem and the drum cracking is a manufacturer's defect. I repeated myself to an executive customer service rep and after numerous attempts, all he could do is sell me an extended warranty that would cover the repairs for $285. I told him that If they do not stand behind the product, I would no longer purchase ANY Samsung products. The $285 will be better spent on a quality dryer from a more honest and fair company.

    Hmm....I don't have the issue with the warm water. Seems to be fairly warm on mine, but I think it's because my washer is close to my water heater so it doesn't take long to get the hot water flowing over to it. I heard when they are farther from the water heater, all the initial water entering the unit is cold because it takes longer for the water to travel from the water heater and arrive to the washer hot/warm.

    Can't believe how quiet that washer is spinning.. Samsung really is the way forward.. Better than the LG.. My next washing machine is definitely going to be a Samsung.... Even if it does cost me 700 - 800 pounds... I don't care, that washer is a beast.....

    • @confidentlocal8600
      @confidentlocal8600 9 років тому

      +randomrazr I have a Samsung washer and dryer. The dryer has been fine, but I needed to replace the rollers and belt in it after 5 years. The rollers are mounted to a bendy sheet metal plate in the back and can get pushed out of alignment and rub/squeak if you overload it. Otherwise it's very basic inside like any other dryer.

    Watch Samsung washer repair. What actually breaks is a rear support arm on the inner drum causing the bearing to fail & destroying the outer platic tubs & door seal. The inner tub in warrantied for 3 years but Samsung is not standing by it for the guy in the video or myself. "We are declining service at this time."-Samsung lead customer service rep Andy.

  • @cordogTV

    Not in my case. Mine actually gets piping hot, if I set it to Hot or the Cleaning cycle . I think others who have that problem, probably need to have either the heating element looked at or the washer is far away from the water heater maybe.

    I have this set. The washer works great and cleans everything. However, a few issues with the washer - you cannot get warm water during the normal cycle - the water on the standard setting (warm for normal) comes out cool. And frankly, I don't feel it uses enough water and the power foam is on most cycles. The dryer is a piece of shit. The baffles in the drum are small and constantly ball up sheets so it takes hours to dry since you have to constantly open the door and untangle the sheets.

    Samsungs: Be careful with over loading!!! The inside tub is attached to the shaft with a cement type substance and the shaft with strip out. it will strip out easily if overloaded and the part itself sells for approx. 299.00 not counting your service charge so you are looking at the cost of a new machine approx.700 to repair. Beware!!

    I got my stackables 2010. Niether machine worked well. There are only two people in my household, so it's not too over use. They use much less water & that's why I bought them. But, sounds like it through a belt. They rarely get garments clean or dry. I'm a disabled person from an on the job accident. I can't, nor should I be expected to check on the worthless machines constantly. To top that now the washer and dryer never get things clean or dry. It's that their job?! Now the washer sounds like it though a belt. We hate this set. We bought the set to conserve water, energy. Sears sold us a line of crappie products. At same time I bought a refrigerator that makes constant noise (loud noise). They informed me I would have to pay $75 to have them take them back. Sounds like they want me to Call the better business bureau,ect. But, I think social media might get the word out, that SEARS WILL SELL YOU ANYTHING THEY CAN TO MAKE A QUICK BUCK!

    I just installed this washer and it won't fully drain. I've used it twice and there seems to be over a gallon of water left in the drum after the final spin cycle, which leaves the clothes still soaking.
    . It's brand new but I checked the filter and made sure the drain hose was installed properly. I have been on the phone with Samsung trying to trouble shoot, no luck. I am now supposed to wait for several days until a washing machine expert calls me back to continue troubleshooting. I just want my new expensive high end washer to work! Garbage. Don't buy. My bearing failed after a couple years destroying the inner and outer tubs plus the door seal. The tech suggested I call Samsung as I paid $1100 dollars for it. Samsung didn't want to know anything and just kept repeating that my warranty expired. I got 12 plus years out of my first two machines, a Matag & a LG.
