“The bigger expectations, the bigger disappointment” that’s a life lesson right there
I feel it 💔
Expectations are like fine , beautiful but delicate pottery , the more u hold on to them , the more likely they are to break into shards that pierce your very soul.
And it's all sudden , shocking and strangely even unexpected , like a star that shines with a soft, steady light .....sudddenly screaming.
Abhi Prakash ohk calm down socrates

yeaa :(
Koreans have no idea how many people from different nationalities find k-dramas addictive AF.
I sometimes watch k dramas on Viki. On the comments, people will tell u where they are watching from. Literally, people from all the continents (minus Antarctica) comment their country. It's crazy how huge K Dramas are to the rest of the world.
Maybe because they haven't watch tons of western dramas.. that are so heavy and sometimes stressful unlike asian dramas were portrayed timid not vulgar, cute, and not to much to handle.
I love it all the way from the USA with a Caribbean background
I find them addictive in a good way. They arent overwhelming like US or English dramas/series. They arent too long. The plot twists arent too many that youd feel that your just going in circles. I like that its just one season of 16episodes (on Netflix though). I love it all the way from Nigeria, Africa.
Its probably like how we Nigerians especially teens watch more foreign movies than our own Nollywood movies.
although Koreans may not all look like the idols or actors in Korea (obviously), they dress really really well.
yeah. the fashion is soo real
Yep. That's what my friend told me when she went there too
Jimin's Suga Kookie saranghae army! But you’re right
And
I ship yoonmin too
Jimin's Suga Kookie like europeans
they dress well because they’re in a metropolitan city. a lot of their street style is inspired by western style that you can see on the streets of major western cities
So here's why i am addicted to k-dramas..
* Shorter stories
* Good acting
* Appealing visuals
* Being an asian country, there are some cultures i can easily relate to.
* Wide genre to suit your mood
* No unnecessary intimate scenes
* Male lead always portraying ideal BF
* Love their language and way of talking
* OSTs
* Love their foods
Ending the list here...but it has alot more!!❤️❤️
In short ; its my daily dose of vitamin 🤭
(Note: one can find any of these points in many other asian country's dramas obviously, but here the topic is limited to S.Korea only.)
special mention: no extra special effects & slow mos like ekta kapoor dramas 😂
@@jeongxxhyun3699 yesssss🙊🙊
True K-dramas are really addictive it's like you can't sleep without watching even an episode i got addicted to it back in 2019 and it caused a lot of bad effects on my studies and on other things i was like thinking about it all the time 😂😂 and finding that special someone everytime. It made my mind blown away I'm very happy that I'm not addicted to it now K-dramas are just happiness candies for our brain it kinda worked like an alcohol to me but now I'm totally fine I'm started seeing things more in reality now.
@@alicerocksell5379 same with me! Just want to watch a single episode before sleep everyday!! It helps alot busting out my stress from the day!
@@jeongxxhyun3699 actually 😂😂
It's also nice that they usually have 16 episodes while some countries have sooo many episodes not even a lifetime is enough to finish it
CLOY?
haHA some American shows have like 14 seasons with 20 episodes each, my transition to kdramas was a short and sweet bliss
@@daphnewild6344 that's the long running ones, most are 5 seasons max.

Omg , don't make me start with Tamil dramas. They go up to more than 1000 episodes 😵😵
koreans cant even imagine how far their wave is going
thicc ass demon it’s a global tidal wave. I thought it stopped after psy.
Yup they don't have a clue n
At all.
Nope. I've been watching since 2009...and I'm a Nigerian...they dont know how girls go crazy about them here, I've got up to a thousand pictures of my Oppas and Unnis...I've watched so many dramas, my younger sister and her classmates act silly like koreans and I'm really glad of the effect it has on them. While their mates are thinking of boys and partying, they spend their time on kdrama and read a lot, like it's being portrayed. I love Kdrama
it's a flood

It’s a breath of fresh air to watch a Korean drama when you’re a Westerner. All our media provides nowadays is overtly-sexual, inappropriate content with no age limit or requirement. Whether they release an entire series, or a “simple” commercial, it is almost always very scandalous. It’s gotten to the point where people don’t choose to be in a genuine relationship, they just want a provider and sex. No matter how unrealistic those Korean dramas are, it shapes the view that one shouldn’t choose someone because they’re convenient or “good in bed.” They should choose someone because of genuine interest and love.
Thats so true! I totally agree with u. As a Korean, i know korean dramas are very very unrealistic. But korean dramas always have strong value on people's relationship. - not on casual sex.
Yes definately
This is so true .
This is the major reason why I watch K-dramas
Plus they also teach some basic values : family values , respect for elders etc
The only thing that is most times unrealistic is the love part
잼민 Granted, most of the male leads are rich, so they are able to fulfill so many “needs,” except they are not needs, rather wants. A woman should be happy with the man, as vows would say, “For rich or for poor and in sickness and in health.” If a woman is dating a man for money or expectations for perfection, her relationship will never last. It’s through difficult times when a person learns how much the other means to them, not because they’re perfect but because they are present regardless. There are obvious expectations, like monogamy and communication that are presented in Korean drama yet not in American drama.
This comment and its replies are so beautifully written that I have nothing to add but a thank you 😊
My whole netflix page is clustered with kdrama recommendations. :D
Same pinch! 😏
Panda-Chan only netflix? My instagram account/ UA-cam/ my music taste all about korea 🥰🥰🥰🥰
I subscribe to both Korean content platforms, KOCOWA and Viki. (Previously I was a DramaFever subscriber before they sold out) I watch via Roku at home and on any device when I'm out. I'm drowning in Kdramas and loving it. lol
Same same, from Bangladesh
Same man, the only shows I watch except for kdramas there are lucifer, a typical and plan cœur lol.
To be honest the main reason I watch kdramas is because most of them have pure and innocent love stories..I just don't like overly sexual scenes..
The thing is in kdramas they make every little moment a precious and romantic one like when their eyes meet or when their hands touch...these simple things make my heart warm❤ aaaa I really love kdrama a lot (p.s- also Japanese、Chinese 、Taiwanese...)
yes.. thats why i didnt tend to watch english series as much as kdramas
Me too, I actually hope they don't imitate the US dramas too much. They would lose their charm.

Indian dramas: series that go on for 8 or more years about the leads’ children and their children and so on...
Kdramas: just 16 eps to finish
lmao i think there was one serial that had 2,200 episodes
Japanese :12 episodes!
Totally true!!🤣🤣
@L B omll saath nibhaana saathiya
Seriously? 8 or more years?? Oohh! and is that okay with the audience?
I know Kdrama is unrealistic but it's really adictive i can't stop myself from watching it 😂
Yeh , they are unreal but that's the truth or I can say a fact that if anybody started watching k dramas they can't easily overcome by the addiction .
What Did U Say Aaaah all those yeara i day dreamed of having a bf like k drama heroes 😥 it broke my little single heart
Ikr. Especially when i watch My only love song so funny

Yesssss💜💘
I wish Indian TV shows were also like K dramas. Indian serials have too much of DRAMA. And the problem is that they never end! There isn't any plot most of the time, just common family life.
Edit: The fact that so many Indians are agreeing with me is enough to tell the Indian TV serial makers to make shows which have a specific storyline and ending
I swear ppl turn into snakes, flys what not like geez wat takes yall to be a little realistic n have a slight good plot 🤦♀️
Honestly indian daily soaps are worsts . They have no concept at all , n some even lasts for 4-5 yrs 😪 the nonsense drama is neverending
It's sad what has happened here. Indian shows from the 90s and 80s were so awesome. Even early 2000s were decent. But ekta kapoor changed it all
I totally agree with you :'D
HONESTLY
Korean wave is really global. It’s funny how they underestimate it. I’m writing this from Ghana, West Africa.☺️🤷🏽♀️
It never came to my mind that even in Africa kdrama is popular. Wow!

American dramas/movies aren't too realistic either in my opinion but what's wrong about the fact that k dramas are unrealistic? Don't we need a break from our daily routine? And they are better in my opinion because they have LESS sexual scenes and that's a good thing.
Cristiana Mariee that’s because they regulate their media. The Zionist aren’t flooding young kids with hyper pornographic imagery or suggestions. There’s deeper emphasis on feelings and intelligence.
totally agree .... I hate American sexual scenes 🤢🤮
YESS!! THAT'S SO TRUE! American drama's are to much sometimes.. Need a break sometimes..
American dramas start with a woman flashing boobs and ends with the same.
That’s what I really like about k-dramas
the reason why i preferd Kdramas is because thay are totally different from the USA.. please don't change.. 💪
dxksakura I was thinking the same thing

TENN❤❤
Agreed.. We need diversity. Korean with their addictive k-drama no matter wht genre it is, funny reality show. USA with their bold, energetic, more real life situation but still got romance in it. Japan with their popular Animation movies and drama. India i can say... Even it is an action movies but they insert more love stories with variety of songs included and dance along the way. Etc..
Same!!
The drama "Goblin" is freaking amazing. If any of you have even the remotest interest in watching this sort of thing, you just can't miss this one. It might turn out to be the best drama of 2016. Most considered Descendants of the Sun to be the best of 2016, and Goblin is apparently by the same writer.
saldiven2009 I think best dramas of 2016 are Another oh Hae Yong , Moonlight in the clouds or Hearts reyo
Minita Bathija Everyone's favorite is their own choice, of course. If you go by viewership numbers, Descendants was significantly higher than any if those you mention. If you have not seen it, I suggest you give it a try.
saldiven2009 I think thst we shouldn't forget about jealousy incarnate !
Chaimae chato You know, I did not like that one. The leading guy character was just such a huge jerk. I wish the second lead had enough self respect to tell the other two characters to go to hell.
saldiven2009 that's true. I just hated him at the beginning. But the second carachter was just kind, he didn't have anything attractive in my eyes. However, the more I watched the drama, the more the "jerk" wasn't really a one. He's just very secere with himsef and othets. Like he said once in the drama "That's my was if being and loving people", or something like that. Well, I liked him.
I enjoy k-dramas because they are much more emotionally connected in relationships rather than sexually. That is the reason why I enjoy watching them and though they are unrealistic it is nice to see a relationship evolve slowly and them getting to know each other. It is just my opinion...
yeah , correct i also watch kdrama only because of this
Totally agree, I love the tension they are able to build, and the sincerity in emotion. In the west everything seems to be ironic.
Me too.. I totally 💯 agree
Agreed. It may sound prudish but I love seeing those genuine connections slowly form instead of automatically jumping into bed with each other or bickering at each other.
Can’t agree more.. after about 10 episode they build the bond & trust..
there’s always one incident that will test their relationship🥲
It so frustrating cause you know the episode will be ended soon. Lot of things can happen in just last 5 episode😅😌
Honestly I really like how love is always protrayed so innocently in K-dramas versus western television shows where the love intrests are more of "lust untrests" instead.
You put it just right!
You can't watch western shows movies or dramas cause they are trash now. All clishes, recycled scenes and scripts, the same damn superhero movies being top and it's been a decade now. I'd also like to add the glorification of criminals. Many shows about how good the lowlife is. Children want to be mobsters nowadays.
@@freespiritable At least, the superhero movies are part of one big story. I love Marvel, even though I don't like every movie in the series.
@@freespiritable kids have always wanted to be criminals, tv isn't the cause of violence, its bad/no parenting.
@@yahikokurotama4351 tv and media affects children life a lot aswell other than bad parenting, good tv shows would motivate them to become better and move on with their lives but all the western tv shows and media keeps portraying lust, party, drinking and drugs like its a cool thing to do
I find it interesting that Koreans don't know how much people in other countries love k-dramas and k-pop. I know they believe its somewhat exaggerated but it really is phenomenal. There are dramas that don't do well with Korean audiences but the International communities love them. That girl was right, lately the dramas are getting slightly more racy than they used to be a few years ago. I love that. 😉
kayjmac42 I don't ;-;
Em me I know some people who think like you. They feel that is the reason they started liking k-dramas and they want them to stay innocent like. I guess to each their own. When I first started watching them I loved that about them, but over time I have found that I need the adults to be slightly more realistic about adult relationships.
kayjmac42 Yeah ;-;
kayjmac42 any racy drama recommendations? >:3
No, I think even nowadays the dramas are pretty good, like DOts, Moonlight in the clouds, and Oh hee young , these are all recent dramas and I loved it like crazy.
honestly if you think all Koreans look like actors and actresses in kdramas then you need a big reality check
emz starlight pretty Much every country. Unless youre ugly..sorry but true...your roles are limited to the funny friend, sidekick, bad guy, etc. etc.
emz starlight some Koreans look like actors not all of them :)
I'm the reality check LOL
Christian Kim Moon LOL this made me laugh but it's not true.
They don't all look like that but there's still so many good looking people it's crazy. Just go to Gangnam, Sinsa or Hongdae...
For me personally I prefer Kdrama, it's funny, romantic, thriller, historic, music ,life long lesson dialogue ,plot twist and perfect amount of episodes. You could watch like 3 dramas or more in 1 week. Especially during this pandemic it keeps me sane and occupied.Ohh I almost forgot that you can make a beautiful love story without being over sexualized it.
"Someone that good looking or beautiful must be like less than 1 in 100" says the gorgeous girl XD
Sapphire Studio i was about to comment that
1 in 100 is a pretty good ratio. I'd say it's 1 in 1000 where I live.
Sapphire Studio i think their beauty standard are so high then 😂
which one is gorgeous?
I dont think she is gorgeous, of course if compared to what wee see in kdramas
They all talk about how it's somehow negative that kdrama actors look unrealistically beautiful and handsome, but these interviewees look sooo good themselves.
No. They are all ugly
Ikr! Some of them were really attractive
But they all were so kind and that's what's most important!
True 🧡 it's because the standards there are unrealistic duh
I mean they don't look like kpop idols and k drama stars but at least they look like they took care of themselves and find someone beautiful is a perspective
hmm maybe to u
I feel like people who watch kpop or KDRAMAS
Expect alll Koreans to be good

I get pissed when people say “all Koreans are good looking”
I hope KDramas never get like the Mexican or you dramas, I would be sad. The reason I like KDramas is because they don't jump into bed fast and they work for the kiss, or the words I love you. 😊

I’m not addicted to K-dramas. But when I’m in that special mood to dive into an ocean of true love, there are a few which make me feel ecstatic beyond words.
I feel like Koreans people in this video, or even in the others, were so direct in their answers. They look intellectual, confident and sure about what they are saying.

I agree as a korean, being direct, very expressive, sometimes quick tempered. Koreans are known as Italians in Europe, Japanese as british, chinese as American or french.

I fell in love with kdramas 'coz its like a stress reliever after working the whole day. I'm fed up w/ filipino dramas whom villains tries different ways to kill or hurt the main lead & all the good person in the drama. Kdramas cinematography is really amazing too😍They shoot it differently😍😍😍
Also the difference between PH Drama to KDrama
KDrama airs in a specific day/night and good for less than 100 episodes
PH Drama airs from Monday to Friday and last for years. Mara Clara and Ang Probinsyano tied for the longest running drama for 4 or 5 years.
PHDrama airs from Monday to Friday
Me too.. my drama perspective changed coz of korean writers.. they rock the drama plot in whole world
Dennis Cabas-an I wish Ang Probinsyano ended sooner. It was actually a good story til they lagged it too long. Why can’t ABS CBN start making quality dramas with less than 30 episodes at least? Saves a lot of money that way
Ang Probinsyano is quaking because of your comment oOP and I swear I stopped watching Filipino teleserye when my cousins introduced me to k-drama back when I was in 3rd grade.they give off a fresh feel to love and portray it in it's purest form and their action/crime movies are my go to when I need something exciting but not too overwhelming.
And it's mostly about adultery/affairs so annoying.

watch kdramas and you will see the stereotypical american characters. It is getting better because they are exporting more dramas and I think they started to realize that always showing Americans as mean, rude, fat, abusive, drug dealers or thieves might kind of piss off their international fans. There has been some trouble with racist things because I guess it came from ignorance but American tv is full of stereotypical characters so we aren't innocent either.

I love Korean and Japanese Dramas but I always see them as the ultimate fantasy of what most people want in their lives or exaggerations for pure entertainment. I am always shocked when I watch vlogs and people say how they ran to Korea or Japan because they expected life to be like the dramas... That is the same as someone running to Hollywood because they think they will marry a star and become a celeb.
I personally think that Korean dramas are far more predictable than Japanese dramas but they have better production quality and usually have better acting. Nice to hear about this topic from people that are Korean.
Catch_Me_If_You_Can Every Asian Romcom follows the same pattern, but the non romcoms are pretty different.
I have been watching KDramas since 2005 and JDramas since 2000... KDramas have the basic format and as NANCAY WANG said RomComs follow the same pattern. People meet, dislike each other, they are locked in a situation that they are forced to be together, there is always someone that is better for them that tries to get them but fails, Something tragic happens and they over come it, in the end the pair is in love. Not much of a surprise....
IMO it is like getting on roller coasters... You know how the ride will begin and end it is just how they curve it in the middle that makes it interesting. Other than that it is still a roller coaster.
I can not say the same for JDramas.... I have genuinely been shocked by the outcomes and twist in many of them... Some of the subject matter that has been covered can be twisted. Even in some of the RomComs... I like both however.
KuroiHato69 I totally agree with your analysis about jdramas and kdramas!
KuroiHato69 so can you speak Japanese and Korean?
English is my first language but i have studied some French and Japanese. Anyone that speaks Japanese would also know that my name is grammatically incorrect. Done on purpose. :) I do not know Korean and can only pick up a few words and phrases here and there.
if you think we watch korean dramas because of handsome oppa and ahjussi, yes you're right. but it's not the main reason.. we love the plot too..
Chelsea Napitupulu you are so right. what i like the most is that a drama is usually like 16 or 20 eps which i consider not much, so it doesnt take too much time to watch it and yeah the plots are nice too, ronantic. When i think about it that before i didnt kmow about it,but tben came across some video with some taiwanese drama, there it got me :D later on I checked out korean ones and torally fell in love since.
@Miko Panda i dont think so. What in othrr countries dramas/series there is not beautiful people, there is.
U r right. I watch drama for the plot first actually.
Got to be honest I watch it because the boys are handsome😂😂😂 not gonna lie😂😂
@Nico Nico Ni nah not really... If I see a handsome guy but the plot is as boring as hell I'll drop it in a heartbeat and prob find the actor on social media lol
I believe in Latin America kdramas (Asian dramas in general) are very popular. Here in Chile, Asian culture keeps growing in popularity, we are very interested in it. We love kdrama! There's even a tv channel which almost exclusively broadcasts japanese anime, kdrama and kpop and it's very popular, especially among youngsters. I am a teacher and I see teenagers really interested in South Korea, in every class I'll find at least a couple of friends who love kpop and/or kdrama. When they realize I also watch kdrama, they go crazy and begin to see me in a total different light 😅✌
Back in the 90’s Latin soap operas was huge in the Philippines. Until around year 2001, Taiwanese then K-Drama shook the Philippine television..Latin Soap Operas is overly-sexualize like American Romantic movies unlike K-Drama, sweet and softy....
I still feel like Korean people tend to be more beautiful, but that's maybe just because they have good styling skills and honestly people instantly look better when they know how to style themselves.. if that makes any sense
Min Lisa agreed, koreans are pretty good at that all though not all of them. Overall i would say they are the best looking in east asians along with northern chinese.
Min Lisa the prevalence and availability of plastic surgery probably plays a part too

"There'd be a huge difference between US dramas and K-dramas rated R."
And this pretty much sums up why I watch so few American dramas, but watch a lot of K-dramas. You can have 16 episodes of a super engaging, interesting plot with an innocent, cute romance at the center--all without them jumping into bed the first chance they get. In the US dramas, they jump into bed right away and show gratuitous amounts of nudity.
KnifeInTheCrayonBox i know us drama to me seems more like horny not love
You mean.. "Dharma"?
KnifeInTheCrayonBox Same and US dramas always try way too hard with the sex appeal
I was watching a show that seemed interesting and the first scene was then doing it and I was like 😧 WHY DOES THE SHOWS THAT SOUND GOOD DO CRAP LIKE THIS IT IS NOT ROMANTIC
Even if they go all out on those scenes, you as the audience wont feel anything.. Theres no emotion. The scene just passes as if it were nothing.
Reasons I like kdramas:
_-They're uplifting._ Walking Dead ? Dark colours and gloomy themes ? Not for me. Dramas are mostly good vibes.
_-They're inspirational._ Some characters go through a lot and learn to deal with difficult situations, which is encouraging.
_-They're useful_ . How to act like a spoiled brat? Business tricks ? Kimchi 101 ? Kdramas will teach you that.
_-They're aesthetic_. Girls dress nicely. Boys too. Everyone is pretty.
_-They're unrealistic_. You need a break from your stressful routine, the further from reality, the better.
_-All the rest_. The music is nice. Pretty sceneries, and the actors do their jobs well. You get to pick up words from the language as well as the tone.
That's it. 😚☺
riches to rags I absolutely agree with you

Lol how to act like a spoiled brat is useful? other than that, I agree. Some of the fashion is questionable, but I dig the oversized clothing

K dramas are the best tbh. I really love how they are not PG or rated R, they're purely about love, feelings, emotions, rather than just some nudity.
I’m currently watching Start-Up on Netflix. Even The ages of the actors played are their actual real age in real life (27-35 yrs old)
K dramas are lame
Fake stories
@@AliAhmed-ve5xl i know they dont portray the reality, but still, they're fun to watch and give you hell lot of emotions. I was comparing them to netflix series in terms of explicitness. Nothing else.
@sunny dayday yes that's true they're very sugar coated.
i seriously feel like most young koreans are sooo stylish
btw great video! a huge fan of k dramas as well
Stylish but really superficial.
+Iris Lilly superficial? Korea is one the least materialists country within the developed nation. Owning lots of material goods doesn't not equal materialism amongst the people. It just shows how shitty the society can be sometimes. Why do you think REPLY 1988 was such a huge hit in Korea? A lot of people miss the simpler times.
+Iris Lilly By shitty, I mean thing like social status which is very important in Confucius culture. Many Koreans seem to dislike how material based their country is.
I've been a korean dramas fans for almost ten years. There's something special about korean dramas, not because their love stories or fantasy of love, but inside those drama, whatever the genre is, it would have something worth to learn. Some life lesson? They made the episodes short but meaningful. That's why i never get tired to watching korean dramas.
syifa khairunnisa agree!
Omg that'd what I thought. They have life lessons and are totally meaningful compared to meaningless western and other shows !
Yes some life lessons

KBS,MBC,SBS these broadcaster focus on love story, but cable broadcaster try to show various genre.
agree JTBC or TVN for expl.
hitgun I agree
I usually prefer TVN dramas & co, they don't focus on ratings and stock stories at much ^-^ usually contributes to better shows to watch
tvn and jtbc focused on love story these days, though. If you want something different, try ocn. Their genre is no joke lmao
hitgun Right?! For example, I think Age of Youth was broadcasted on a cable channel and it didn't really focus on the theme of love, more so on everyday life.

K-drama addict here! Putting in my attendance from India 😃
We all need something unrealistic sometimes as reality is too much so no shame in watching something which makes you happy.
"I am the just like guys in kdramas" - Biggest lie ever told in the existence of humankind
Just a lonely Soldier he was joking lol
He kinda looks like Choi Woo Shik tho
he is being sarcastic .....
You're a very good interviewer :)
*Steve we need an updated version of this video please!! Who agrees?*
Are you kidding me ? I visited Korea and I think what is portrait in the KDrama is proven to be true. Hanguk is blessed with the best cheek bone, jaw line and flawless skin. It's like a factory. In Seoul, Bhusan, Incheon, there are so many pretty girls and handsome guys. And once you get to know them, they are super friendly. I had great time in Korea and never get tired to visit them.
It's like everyone else likes Korean things more than Koreans like them...
Yesenia H ikr lol
its because they have nothing else to compare it to. if they see Hispanic dramas they'll think again hahahahahahaha
lol I feel like Americans are like that too. Like all these asians admiring american things and we're all up here like "this is trash, korean things are better" xD
Yeah, it's common.
It further proves that distance forms beauty。
They drained my every hope of living in an unrealistic k-dramas world....😂😂😂😂😂😂
They simple never met a good guy yet
Haha
😭😭😭 True
Specially when they said it never comes true
"Why do you make my idol take part in something like that?" How considerate and gracious of the audience.
I think that Koreans don't really know how famous k-dramas and k-pop are popular over the world
Sadly, As a result 70% of Korean never left their country for single time and other 30% of 80% only went to Japan
@@oaaisjdujsi that's not true. more of over 70% koreans go aborad once a year. You lie
@@thelanfu No that is true. One people go like 10times... and mostly, goes Japan
@@oaaisjdujsi ? Yeah Koreans go to japan a lot but they also go to europe and Hong Kong etc... they travel a lot ^^
Why does the whole world know about Korea EXCEPT for the Koreans😂
Cz of bts
@@aboobakersiddiqabrar8594 Not only BTS, Korean dramas themselves play a huge part. And recently Korean movies also, thanks to the Oscar winning movie Parasite, people are watching more and more movies. 💜
jhope's chicken noodle soup
Yes that too but personally I started getting into korean culture n kdramas after i knew bts , so probably for many ppl happened the same thing
@@orul826 Samee. The first thing that I discovered about Korean culture or South Korea was BTS, back then the boys had newly debuted. And then I got into kdramas and kmovies shortly after, I regret nothing hehe
I laughed so hard. 😂😂😂
Im currently in Korea right now, and I’m totally surprised that most of the couples I have seen so far looked like they came out straight from a kdrama. (In my own perspective) actually, everytime I see a couple being so sweet to each other, I mentally squeal.
You're kidding! I've lived in Seoul since I was born and I've never ever seen those couples.
@@알엘씨 as one guy said in interview, many people are trying to act like the actors of kdrama in real life, maybe to be more appealing to their partner. So Fatalies must have seen such couple. Idk. Just my opinion.
They are cute. All of them. 🌼
I loved the squealing 😄😄💕
Korean men are not that different, if anything they are just more sexist them Europeans
Korean dramas are beginning to be also popular in Europe, because of Netflix. 😊
In my case it´s because of friends :-)
To be hones I had a few opprotunities to work for Netflix and ..... Nice work (prepare costumes, weapons or the set...) until you see the outcome. I am really disappointed with their results.
I'm Nigerian and the Korean Drama fans here are steadily increasing.
I know a lot of the plots are not realistic however, I love the way the writers portray certain things. It's amazing how a hug in a Korean drama would get more reactions from me than a make out scene would in a western drama.
You can legit watch a 32 episode drama and see that they would kiss only 6 times in all the episodes, yet, the love, attraction and chemistry would be felt all through. It also makes it easier to watch with kids around.
I also love the way the culture is celebrated in all their dramas. My friends and I can't wait to visit South Korea and try out the food, go to a karaoke room, play the games and visit the places we see in the dramas we watch.
I don't care how unrealistic it's painted, I absofreakinlutely love South Korea!!! ♥
Awww! I love how unrealistic it can get yet isn't that what makes it nice? It's fun to watch it and escape from reality. At least in this world, I can feel positive emotions.
🤡
Although I only watch the darker kdramas these days, I love seeing so many Africans on SBS World channel commenting on the dramas
@Balochi boy Good to know gayboy.
@sunny dayday What makes you think we believe everything in Hollywwod or rvrn in our countries? YOu're ridiculously naive.
Still, Korean dramas are the best 😭 HAHAHA I think it is now a curse when you started watching k-dramas, you will never be able to stop yourself from watching. 😂😍 AND! You will fall in love continuosly with different actors. OH MY GOD. 😍😭😂❤️💜💚💙💛
YAS, I agree with you. I get a new bae whenever i finish a new drama that I lost count of the oppas
Mamamia Cruz same with me, whenever I watch dramas I fall in love with the guy and find him so charasmatic and pretty and want to marry him.Lmao.
yw dono True!! To the point that I can't weigh anymore who I love the most 😂 HAHA
Minita Bathija I KNOW RIGHT! HAHAHAHA
They have the most predictible plot in the history of dramas and movies. Almost all of them have the same plot, I know, I started watching k-dramas since 2007.
I like kdrama ,,when I watch series I don t sleep for like 18hrs/day till I finish full serial🇰🇷🇰🇷🇰🇷

Got addicted to K-dramas since the age of 14 and been going strong for 7 years now. Ventured into the realm of Chinese dramas, Japanese dramas, Thai dramas, Indonesian dramas, Filipino dramas, Taiwanese dramas already. Wow...I've come pretty far lmao

Ikr I haven't seen a drama like that.. What dramas are they watching? ㅋㅋㅋ
🤣
K-dramas are a million times better than American television. You can watch k-dramas in front of children and not be scared they will see something. American tv is filthy and overly sexualized. I hope they are never like American tv. Korean people are very kind, so if they are extremely pretty on the outside that doesn’t matter. They are gorgeous on the inside. Emery one was so kind when I was in korea.
You stole the exact words from my mouth.
If american shows are overly sexualized to you then what are european shows (especially western and northern ones)?
exactly what i was gonna say
I hope Koreans do stay kind so they don't disappoint any foreigners :( Because I'm Korean, I know that not all Koreans are kind... but thanks for saying that. I'm glad that k-drama had positive influence on global audience :D
Yes !! That's the main reason I watch k-dramas
Korea was not like the dramas (which I know it wouldn't be), but it was still an awesome place to visit. And I remember seeing some truly k-drama level hotness when walking through Gangnam ;D
Alva Rosager yes they might be plastic faces.
Oh, for sure, I don't doubt that at least some of them were. That doesn't really matter to me though.
Minita Bathija typical foreigner who cries out the handsome/beautiful Koreans=100% plasitic
Minita Bathija Right, because Asians are incapable of being good looking without plastic surgery. idiot.
lots of people you see in gangnam with plastic surgeries might not be koreans too, so keep that in mind lol A lot of people are visiting korea to get plastic surgeries
Love from Nigeria

Park Seo Joon 👀
I really love ji chang wook too! (Empress ki, K2...)
"It's fun because it's too unrealistic"
They are unrealistic and pleasingly acceptable 😁
Even if the drama is boring i will still watch it because of the ost and cinematography. I personally think Korea filming and editing skills are really good and has a unique style 😁
I agree with the filming skills! Its just so pretty
Honestly I think some K-dramas are trying to be that "real", to capture the reality of life and it's so nice~ For example: Be Melodramatic (2019) (it depicts the reality about growing up for those who will welcome their 30s) or The World of The Married (2020) (it depicts the reality about the complex and complicated nature of marriage and divorce). Even tho, not 100% is based on true and real story, of course.
Yeah..that's why Parasite won those Western awards and why i can't seem to stop watching kdramas, even though i know it's unrealistic! 😂
Kdrama are too unrealistic in my opinion and if you're talking about cinematography i think western is taking the lead.
But hollywood cinema itself makes gross historical flaws like Braveheart, which has great historical flaws, the relationship isabella and william wallace never existed in real life.
this may sound depressing but I think people watch kdramas because they're disappointed with their realities (and of course because they want to be entertained lol)
Chaima Hamidi most of the shows that are shown in media are unrealistic and people watch it for entertainment purposes.
It's depressing yes, but you're absolutely right about it. Reality/Life is so harsh and disappointing that we all try to avoid facing it, by getting ourselves engaged in the unrealistic fantasy/fictional shows the media has made for us.
We get joy from things that are not even real. It's such a heartbreaking thing to think about...
MapleKemon so true because I don't like how my life is I always watch kdramas
Chaima Hamidi choice 2 is mine
Chaima Hamidi summed up my life perfectly 😂😂😂😭
Actually, I am a Sri Lankan. I love the stories in Kdramas. How they relate all the things according to the theme. For example, clean with passion for now, forcasting weather and love, even the crime action dramas vagabond, vincenzo etc. I really love how they write the stories and plots according to the themes. I don't know how they come up with such creative ideas. The cast, dressing styles, story telling, plots, acting, OSTs, background music, crops, cinematography, even the lyrics of OSTs are really good in Kdramas. On top of that it's only 16 episodes. Also, unlike english dramas we can relate to the culture as well. Eventhough they are unrealistic, kdramas provide educational insights as well relating to the particular theme. Kdramas are so addictive because all the aspects which should be in a drama are almost perfect. ❤👏 Kudos to the Kdrama industry!!! Thanks for making dramas which we can really feel.🥺❤✨️
So you're telling me that if I go to Korea I wouldn't bump into Lee min ho and accidently kiss him then have him propose to me because of love from first sight?! 😐
That's kinda disappointing 😂
Haneen ARMY lmaooo😂😂😂
No, he's doing military service. When he's out, that could happen.
Nicole Wright hahaha do you think this is possible??!
It's OK meanwhile he's in the military, Lee jong suk could fall in love with me and I could get to chose between them both afterwards 😂😂
Haneen ARMY hahahah😂😂😂
Goblin! my favorite kdrama.

I’m an Aussie 🇦🇺and I love Kdramas. ⭐️
Lol that young girl with the short hair and bangs has such a good personality.
Trueeee.. she was so positive and bubbly.. 😁
Also the couple at 7:50.. liked their chemistry.. plus that guy is good looking enough to be in kdramas himself 😂 and when he jokes that he is just like the men in the dramas.. 😂😂😂
Korean dramas are really big in our school... Well for the females and it's because it's more romantic then sexual which makes it better because I personally seeing adding sexual content as a lazy what to attract viewers rather then coming up with a unique and more complex way to gain viewers.
Truth
I think so too. Lazy writers have excessive sexual content. K-dramas are definitely romantic as opposed to being soft porn like the American show game of thrones. Yes they got good script, but they def have hype because it's partially soft porn that people can watch without feeling so bad. Porn is very destructive. People just refuse to see this.
Basically a lot of people like “Korea”, just because of kpop or kdramas, and they go crazy. But truly, i loved korean culture from when i was 9yrs old, and i didn’t watch kdramas and listened to kpop. I just adore this type of cities, their food, style and basically koreans are really pretty people! this obsession with korea wasn’t that popular several years ago...
Same honestly! The language and the culture are just so interesting, I am actually studying a broad starting next year!
well i'm interested in korea because of BTS 😂 but i'm not interested JUST BECAUSE i like BTS, but because Korea and its culture, language, foods, fashion, etc truly interest me.
but people go crazy these days
Yes . I love korean language and culture most . It is beautiful
Chocco let Yes same! I still think i love korean culture and Seoul city (i love busy cities) more than kpop or kdramas...
My wife and I have watched plenty of the Korean dramas-
Love so many of them especially Full House,Encounters,Mine,That winter the wind blows and Good Doctor etc etc.
SHK, PSH,Kang So Ra and MCW plus Lee Bo Young are great to watch in the shows -LMH in Boys over Flowers -Great.
Now do a "What the Japanese Think Of Anime" please.
Oh my gosh yess

There is a another video, with a real japanese guy interviewing in japan. This video is for korean.
I know K-dramas and Kpop world are unrealistic, but I still love Korea. I want to visit Korea and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
I fell in love with crash landing on you and my secret romance 🥺after this pandemic is over I'm visiting Seoul ❤️
Definitely It's one of my dream to visit korea I love their culture, fashion, food and everything about them I'll visit it once in my lifetime
"The US dramas show everything.." No, they dont. Watch some European stuff, they show EVERYTHING.
Ahaha that is soooo true if you watch a dutch movie they legit go totally naked and otherwise is it even dutch ? Lol
Omg thanks for saying that! This is exactly what I thought too like when I went to the US as an exchange student all the movies I would normally watch without even having to think about what they are rated at were "age inappropriate". Honestly it was ridiculous because in Europe the rating is much much lower and kids experience and learn about sex education etc. much sooner. It's no big deal. 😂
Steve is such a good reporter. He made the interview sounds interesting and fun.
May be everyone atleast in their own imagination want to see perfect love..thas y korean drams are popular..Something we all humans try to achieve..our love for perfectionism will never end...love the way love is portrayed in k drams..pure and innocent ..even though its not a reality,i wish if it was a reality!!
I personally like k dramas because I just adore their concept of love which they show through k dramas... I think they definitely know the right definition of true love though in real life you don't get to see that but still fiction is far better than reality!
I’m surprised that Korean themselves are not really into K drama 😶 meanwhile the world is very crazy about K drama.
I really want to visit Korea, but it's so expensive aaahh :(
SRIDEVI KETHA Oh, yes. I agree
It really isn't...I just spent a month there. My plane ticket cost waaaaaaay less than my ticket to Paris....my airbnb was only $70/usd a night AND it was in Gangnam....and food is waaaaay cheap. Just for the plane ticket, airbnb, and food for 30 days I only spent $4000...of course I'm a shopaholic so I spent a loooot that way, but if you're only going for a week or two, it really is not expensive at all.
SRIDEVI KETHA .... yep! My plane ticket to Paris cost me $2700...I got my ticket to Incheon for $935..I did have 2 layovers but it was worth it...use airbnb for accommodations, there are very inexpensive ones that are really nice and honestly food is cheap and you get so much. Your biggest expense is going to be for shopping lol!!
Me too, but who knows someday, hope is the last one to die! :)
Reality isn't like that ☹️☹️☹️
One reason to appreciate kdrama is bcoz most of the dramas gives us an idea of true love and are not Vulgar unlike the other series and stuffs that exist. Everything is shown in a respectful manner.♥️
Korea isnt all about kdramas kpop etc.. if someone thinks that ALL koreans are good looking and good mannered just like a character from a drama then they seriously need to think about it again..
Korea has such a beautiful culture AND an interesting history so if you ever consider visiting, don't go just because of k-dramas and k-pop.
0:55 lmao ratio 8:2... because 4:1 is too mainstream
Andrew Zhoe XD
it's just a habit doing everything out of 10...
That's just because Koreans are so smart that they just do math for the hell of it.
Because he was thinking out of 10 or 100%, so 80% of viewers are women, 20% would be men.
Andrew Zhoe I thought he meant 8 out of 10 women and 2 out of 10 men.
Saying 4 to 1 would only portray the ratio between the men and women watching dramas and say nothing about how many don't watch.
Lmao I agree. Gong Yoo is so handsome and cute and just ugh TT3TT
Fujoshi Chan same!!! I love him in BIG, I haven't watched Goblin yet.
treecolour green you totally should!! ✨
nyeduoth puok YASS ;
Fujoshi Chan Yes omgg like i didn't even know gong yoo before I watched goblin BUT HE MADE ME FEEL SOME TYPE OF WAY
Fujoshi Chan That Goblin is so funny
Is anyone going to tell them? How popular these dramas are outside of Korea???
well I am an Indian and I am deeply in love with k pop and k dramas. I wished to visit Seoul in future. I love that place. ❤💜❤
if i wanted a realistic drama, i have my life to see. i wouldn't bother turn on the tv if that's the case.
Right !!
Omg so true
Now that was absolute reality
@nobita nobi that's true as well..
I have been watching Kdrama for too long that I started understanding their language
Tima • same here!
me too bruh
How does that work or happen? Plz teach me, I want to understand
Interesting Stuff you just pick up random words and phrases, usually the ones used most often. Sometimes I don’t even realise I’m learning stuff until I hear Koreans talking irl and I’m like “wait... I understood that??” 😂 I also come to notice things like sentence/phrase endings that indicate things like the social position of characters, formality, etc. but I think i only notice this because I’m studying Japanese and there’s similarities in the languages
Tima • me too 🤣🤣
K dramas are super popular in Ghana 🇬🇭. I’ve personally watched a handful 🥰
