    Hi Annie, thanks so much! What a nice treat for such a sweet price! I love using Sheets for all sorts of calculations, so happy I do not need to calculate this stuff though 😍
    @everyone - As for the .ods format, what worked for me was to upload the file to Google Drive with Convert uploads ON (/drive/settings).

    How did you know that I was searching for modified raglan sweaters in Ravelry? While I love to crunch the numbers myself, I appreciate that others may not be so inclined. Thank you for your helpful info and humour.

    Seems like you would need to subtract the initial cast ons from number of total body and arm stitches to get correct number of increases needed in each section

    Wonderful as always. I’m so glad you included the math. I’m not comfortable winging things. 😬

      Thanks! I'm with you on preferring math : ) mind, if you ever decide to push your comfort zone, raglans are the easiest entry. They rarely need more than a little frogging to get back on track if you go astray ; )

    Thank you, I was thinking about this only yesterday! Now I have an idea of what to do, I just need to actually sit down and start my cardigan....

    Great video! Why does no one out there share the shaping of the raglans and give you options as to putting less stitches in to the arms to begin with, maybe because you want a boatneck, and adding more increases to the sleeve later on to give a wider sleeve? Or discuss putting less stitches in to the body and adding more underarm…..You talk about this in a very easy to understand way. I’d love to see another video of this with knitted examples

    I just finished knitting a raglan where I had to frog one sleeve and the body because following the pattern resulted in a sweater that was too big and yarn chicken with a discontinued wool. The wool was merino yak that I bought when I didn’t know about stretchiness in merino.
    Despite my luck of securing only one more skein of the wool online, I held it double and following the pattern will mean too big a sweater and not enough wool to finish.
    I took off a few rows of raglan increases and size down a needle size. Did not knit as many rows for bottom and sleeves ribbing and was able to knit a sweater that had better fit.
    I realized that holding two fingering together means I can’t follow the pattern’s raglan increases nor add positive ease because of merino’s stretchiness factor will yield a raglan too big to fit.
    Thanks for sharing! I deviated winged the pattern to avoid having a sweater that too big to fit and have to frog the whole thing!

    OMG! I've been searching and searching to find a way to modify my yoke depth. I think this is it!

      It theoretically is, but I don't think I've tried it in the sheet. If it doesn't, shoot me an email and I'll add in a reverse calculation so it does :)

    So helpful! Thank you! How awful would a raglan turn out if I did the regular every-other increase for body and arms and then stopped increasing the arms once they were right but kept increasing the body until it was right? 🤔

    • @mistakkesweremade
      @mistakkesweremade  11 місяців тому +1

      Depends on the difference. If a lot, you'll get a noticeable near horizontal increases line just above the bust. Which may or may not bother you :) Might lay / move in a less than ideal manner, or might be your brain threw you the idea because it'd be perfect for your individual body, only way to know that one is to try

    I have a bottom up raglan that I just know is going to fall off my shoulders if I finish it as instructed with a traditional raglan. Do I body only decreases every other row for a few rows, then both body and sleeve decreases for a few rows and finally sleeve only decreases to finish? And to make it even more fun, when do I do the short row shaping?

    • @mistakkesweremade
      @mistakkesweremade  Рік тому

      For falling off the shoulders you might want to do more decreases, not fewer! Watch armhole depth as per row gauge and maybe sneak in some double body decreases if you want to both change arm size and make the neckline smaller. But most importantly don't forget to adjust the arms first so you end up with arms the right size when you join them! It might be possible to wing it bottom up but I'd definitely suggest at least getting a general idea of target numbers : )

      @@mistakkesweremade I figured out the number of rows there were in the yoke and started with some body only decreases every row, did a few every other row, a couple of body and sleeve decreases every other row, a few every row and the switched to sleeve only decreases every other row twice ending with 5 sleeve only decreases. It fits much better and I’m happy enough with how it looks. The actual number of decreases is the same, just placed differently.

    will this also work if i need to add bust real estate?

    • @mistakkesweremade
      @mistakkesweremade  9 місяців тому

      Depends on your upper chest vs full bust measurements. If small, worth doing the math and seeing if your row gauge gives enough rows to fit in extra body increases. But if there's a big difference you could end up with too much fabric in the upper chest to full bust zone, or very deep arm scythes. Might instead try adjusting the raglan to best fit your arms and upper chest then add bust darts. Suzanne Bryan and This Orange Couch both have great vids on bust darts you might find helpful in decision making! (And Amy Herzog's books are awesome on the subject too)

    So how do you get the s shape? I'm confused 🧐

    • @mistakkesweremade
      @mistakkesweremade  Рік тому +2

      By having different increase rates for the body and arms! If my way of explaining isn't quite right for you I think Suzanne Bryan goes into a lot of depth about it on her channel, check her out too!
