    Nicely done Bronislava! These are the clearest directions I've encountered for Raglan sweaters online and in books. I love that you are teaching concepts, instead of just particular patterns.

    Knit a raglan sweater from the bottom up and when you get to the sleeves -where the sleeves meet the body to attach together- count the number of stitches you have left in the sleeves and front and back, then knit Raglan all the way to the neck , count again, the front, back and sleeve ends and that is how you start your top down. Thanks for this amazing video.

      Garden Glory - again thank you very much for your input - 🌹🌹 - I knitted raglan sweaters from bottom up, however I had to sew the sides... beauty about knitting it top to bottom is that it gives us a nice outfit without the seams many people are aiming for - 💛🥂 cheers to knitting anyway we like

    Thank you. The calculations were difficult to figure out between the example you had started with and your personal calculations.
    I am knitting my second Raglan sweater and want a better fit, so this should be (fairly) easy to calculate out as I am using an Aran weight yarn, so 7 sts per inch, 6 sts per row.
    I had been trying to figure out how to calculate for my larger bust, and now I know how to!

    Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I've been crocheting for a while but finally decided to try a sweater. I've ripped it out 6 separate times because all 6 of those patterns don't tell me how to measure to make sure I'm making the right size. Now I can just make my own pattern! Seventh time is the charm? :)

    👏👏👏👏Wonderful tutorial. I like to ask you how to calculate or how to figure it out how many motifs go around the botom in this case? I counted 7 in the front so I guess there are another 7 in the back? I still struggling that part. How to calculate the number of motifs in a yoke for example. Thank you so much!!!

    • @HandMadeRukodelky
      @HandMadeRukodelky  2 роки тому

      Depends how many stitches you will add along the raglan... it should be a multiple of the particular pattern you will be using... this video I diid a long time ago, so I don't remember (no time to check that out 😕) - but hope this info will help you 🌹🍀

    A very nice and detailed explanation which helps me a lot. I am odd shaped so I am trying to make my own calculations and this helps a lot. However, I cannot find any instructions on how many stitches to add (or not to add) to the underarm when separating the sleeves from the body. A pattern will automatically give you a number, but when you are using your own wool with that gauge, how will I know how to calculate that amount? Any input from you will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

    • @HandMadeRukodelky
      @HandMadeRukodelky  3 роки тому +1

      Great Q, Yoly - what I would do is: I'd cast on edge sts for V-neck (your choice how many you want) + sts for sleeve #1 + sts for back + sts for sleeve #2 + edge sts for V-neck on the other side. I would keep my 8 raglan increases in 4 places + increases for the V-neck on each side (total 6 places of increases = 10 increases). V neck I would increase every row, raglan places every other row - hope this helps 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

      The captions aren't available yet due to processing complex audio in the video.
      Automatic captions don't support the language in the video.
      The video is too long.
      The video has poor sound quality or UA-cam doesn't recognize the speech.
      There’s a long period of silence at the beginning of the video.

    the only REAL and true way to learn to knit is trial and error and start learning to knit intuitively ...its basically 2 rectangles with rectangle sleeves...its very rudimentary.

    • @HandMadeRukodelky
      @HandMadeRukodelky  3 роки тому

      Garden Glory - yes I agree that it can be about intuition - but it is also about math and geometry - and a lot of people have problems making it fit their bodies - figuring it out mathematically can be challenging even for me who loves math and solving problems.... thank you though for your input 🌹
