I had a similar backrest on my first Harley- a 2001 RoadGlide standard. It was “adjustable” also. Nearly identical. Those spring loaded ones are crazy hard to pop into place without plenty of practice. My 2015 Limited needed one so I wanted to try Harley’s Adjustable and I was able to find one used in a Limited Facebook group and had the dealer install it cheap. Only adjusts forward which is odd, so I’ve never actually adjusted it. Haha. I enjoyed some demo rides of the 2019s lately and ironically, first thing I missed was my backrest. Haha. Thanks for sharing man. Ride safe!
well heck if I knew you were doing this I would have brought mine over, haha. I added my first one ever last month and it really helps my back and provides a better riding position. Nice video sir!
Hi HDR...Next time just so you know...You don't have to remove the saddle bag, just open the lid and your good to go on removing the strap screw from either side....Enjoy that new beauty!
HDR, never have a lack of tools. I have four tool boxes and two cabinets and the wife says I don't even know what I have and she may be right I do sometimes forget about a certain tool until I come across it, hahaha. Nice job on the backrest all my Goldwings have had them and I cant imagine riding without one. By the way, that new ride is looking better and better I know you are enjoying it.
I love the new bike. It has everything I was looking for in a ride. Even Mrs. HDR says she thinks the ride is better than our last bike and she loved it also. Ride Safe
Have you adjusted the shock tension yet the adjustment is under the bag you removed black knob with numbers at the bottom. From the dealer mine was set at zero there is a graph in the owners manual for were it gets set by weight.
I am going to install mine, exact same backrest. You may want to keep some firecrackers in your toolbox, that way you can chase away the birds before you record a video, lol. jk. Thanks for the help bro!!
yep same backrest I had one and took it off the rest has little adjustment and it pushed me to far forward and was uncomfortable , I would have sold you mine
With it all the way back, would you say you lost any leg room? I got the Harley one and it’s pushing me too far forward. Even with it all the way back.
Got my backrest on the other day and went straight back to work, finally road it a week later, and thinking I might need to adjust the bracket all the way back. I put it on the same spot where you ended up and seems to be pushing me forward too much. My first bike I have ever put a back rest on and even though it felt weird I can see I will enjoy it
I do not. There is one philips screw on the back of the seat going into the back fender. Take out the screw and push the seat forward and it will pop off. Ride Safe

They are a must for long over the road riding. Ride Safe
Great job. The backrest looks great. You made it look easy to install.

HarleyDayRider no problem. I should get one for Delilah. They do look comfortable.

Thanks! I didn't know that. On the Classic I had to remove the bags. Good to know. Ride Safe

Beautiful bike. And the journey ($) begins.....again.
You are not kidding. Little here and lot there. We make them what we want them to become. Ride Safe
The Goldwing backrest bolts to the bottom of the seat so it comes off when you remove seat. That bracket looks difficult.
That is interesting. This one has to be removed before you pull the seat. Ride Safe
Same backrest as your old one. My buddy had a 2010 and put it on his 2018.
Yes, they will fit. So if you are trading your scoot keep the backrest. Ride Safe

I have not played with that yet. I know it is set to 3. Seems pretty good. But I will look at the weight chart. Ride Safe
I put mine about half up I ride two up or with my computer and back pack when commuting so the bike is heavy all the time.
I am going to install mine, exact same backrest.
You may want to keep some firecrackers in your toolbox, that way you can chase away the birds before you record a video, lol. jk.
Thanks for the help bro!!
Firecrackers are a really good idea. Hope your backrest goes well. Ride Safe
yep same backrest I had one and took it off the rest has little adjustment and it pushed me to far forward and was uncomfortable , I would have sold you mine
Did you still have one that fits a 2018 Road Glide....mount and rest or just mount?
With it all the way back, would you say you lost any leg room? I got the Harley one and it’s pushing me too far forward. Even with it all the way back.
I don't find that to be the case. I am 5' 11" and the seating position seems good. Ride Safe
beautiful bike...
San Antonio Steve Thanks. Ride Safe

I did that same thing. Pull the mount all the way back. This will give you more room in the saddle. Ride Safe
Good video man...i am looking to put one on my bike also....I do not see a link in your page for where you got it?
I just updated the description and added the link. Sorry about that. Ride Safe
Where you get backrest?
Jerry Hawkins I put link in description. Ride Safe
do you have video and how to take off the seat ?
I do not. There is one philips screw on the back of the seat going into the back fender. Take out the screw and push the seat forward and it will pop off. Ride Safe
The bracket doesn't have rubber seal with holes so don't scratch up the paint
No. Even my last one didn't have a rubber gasket. That would be a great idea. Ride Safe
Brian Fisher those plastic washers under the nuts keep the bracket up off the fender. Hth
Is that an after market seat and if so what is and how does it feel?
This is the stock seat. Mrs. HDR tends to enjoy them so we just stick with stock. Ride Safe
Got to he the backrest I love mine
They make those long rides better. Ride Safe
My riders backrest off my 08 street glide fit on my 2015 road glide
So yea the one off your 2011 would of fit on the 2018
I would for sure. I just had some bad information from someone that said it would not fit. Harley never changed the bolting pattern. Ride Safe
Yeah, the dealership mechanic can do it faster, but it won't always turn out as good as doing it yourself.
I think little things like this put you more in touch with the bike. Ride Safe
I have big hands and getting my backrest takes as long as your video.
Spring pops out , remove seat , find it #$%#^&&$@!
Wayne Weck There is a trick to it. It gets easier. Ride Safe
@@HarleyDayRider I have to get a new battery this Spring and try it again . You sure made it look easy
ADD playing with the wires same bike that I have very useful video
Thanks, I am glad it could help you out. Ride Safe
both pices
Thanks, Ride Safe
