I believe they do have other focal lengths in this anamorphic lens! They have a full kit with 4 lenses if I remember correctly!

Brilliant image, Kofi! Man, it would be nice if Sony could add a de-squeeze function in camera. I know Panasonics have it, but I don't see it being difficult for Sony to implement it, via software updates.

A little! It’s a 120 focus throw so it wasn’t impossible, I did miss a couple times though tbh 😅
would be nice if sirui made AF anamorphic lense. Can't go back to manual focus..

I have ! This video came out a few months before ! I reviewed the update in a video! It’s great, wish it had 1.6x dequeeze

Honestly I hope they have a 2x one day that’s neutral, I didn’t have a chance to test the 2x adapter which might change things

Footage looks so good. Did you add any other lighting other than the tubes? I’m shooting in a gym soon and the ambient lighting is extremely flat so I’m debating what kind of setup I want to use

Glad I found your Channel! This is some quality content. Quick question besides the APSC sensor on the FX30, is the quality on par with the FX6 when shooting in the same environment? I've noticed the footage in here appears to be shot with the FX6 and I really like how it came out.
Honestly I’ve been using both pretty extensively and theyre close enough that if graded well and exposed properly, you’d have to be looking for it to tell

How usable would a 1.75x anamorphic be on the FX30 in your opinion? I'm worried using a 1.75x on a 16:9 sensor like the FX30 will be wasting so much space as it'll provide such a wide final aspect ratio, requiring punching in and thus losing resolution and sensor area.
Truthfully, no idea, some of the shots here I got on the fx30, and I think it was fine !you could also cop a 2x adapter as well 👍🏾
You mentioned vignetting with your Mirage Matte Box
Tilta actually make a 58mm Camera Lens Adapter (MB-T16-58) for the Mirage, that will connect directly to your Saturn. This adaptor ring is not included with the Mirage standard kit, it costs extra. Not having to stack up step-down rings should solve your vignetting issue.
You’re right , the adapter rings don’t go to 58mm the lowest is 67 so to get it on, you don’t have a ton of choices
For people who use anamorphic lenses all the time, is there an anamorphic monitor so their image isn’t smushed when filming? Idk if that’s necessary but the thought came to mind
I think the higher end (or Panasonic) cameras have anamorphic support built in , but I think most people just match the squeeze in their monitors !

Thanks for sharing! I'm think of this for the FX30. Did this lens come with an adapter, or can you just use a regular MFT to Sony E adapter? Does it need to have the Sirui adapter to work (or can it be a third party adapter)?
No you can get the e mount version !

@@KofiYeboah yeah of course. But it gives you an idea of the flaring. You never had any direct lightsource in your shoots like a headlight of a car for example. Which is a pretty common thing to encounter

As this lens is made for full frame coverage, when you use it on a camera with an aps-c sensor like the fx30 for example, will the characteristics around the edges be less prominent? (like e.g. distortion) Additionaly the aperture value of 2.9 would give you more depth of field on an aps-c sensor. Would there still be enough separation to the background?
Not sure what enough separation would be since that’s hard to quantify , but there isn’t a ton of distortion any ways so really I found them pretty much the same look ableit the crop ✌🏾

It’s definitely not as obvious, like I said , some people love this, some won’t, personally, for the most part I like it
The anamorphic element is in the middle so more subdued.
Great video. Just a quick question - if you shoot on the FX6 at 4096x2160 with the 1.6x squeeze lens, what is the anamorphic aspect ratio you get? My calculations say 3:1 instead of 2.39:1 is that what you got? Thanks in advance.
