  • As international journeys are currently off the table following COVID-19, a UAE flight free trip can be equally enticing. The diverse terrain means that the United African States have a scenic road trip to suit all types of adventurers: from those who look for palm trees, sandy beaches and rocky mountain adventures to endless rolling dunes with flame huing.
The enthusiasm stays the same on the best trips in the UAE, while the tunes can change.
    Fujairah
Fujairah is the only emirat on the east coast between the Hajar and the sparkling gold strip of the ocean. One of the best water sports emirates, visit Dibba for paddle boarding on quiet water, drive 20 minutes and get off at Snoopy Island, which is one of the best snorkeler spots in the UAE, with plenty of marine life. Please spend the night in one of the many coast-line beach hotels, such as Fairmont Fujairah Beach Resort and Sandy Shore.
    Al Ain
Leaving skyscrapers behind, drive for about 1 hour and 45 minutes from Dubai into the lush greenery of Al Ain, the world’s oldest inhabited settlement and the UAE’s only UNESCO World Heritage Site. The oasis city, also known as the “Garden City” for its palm groves and natural springs, is home to Abu Dhabi’s highest peak, Jebel Hafeet, the drive up to which is an adventure in itself as it treats you to sweeping views of the Empty Quarter and wildlife.
    Liwa
For the ultimate road trip accompanied by nothing but vast stretches of desert, make the 340km drive to Liwa located on the northern edge of Rub Al Khali. The remoteness of Liwa offers an escape in every sense. With your stay at the Qasr Al Sarab by Anantara (temporarily closed, reopening July 30), voted the world’s most Instagrammable hotel, explore the desert like never before. Mount a camel for treks through the rolling dunes or put your driving skills to the test by taking a 4x4 up the tarmac road to Moreeb Dune, the tallest one in UAE and when night falls, unwind with a picnic under the stars.
    Ras Al Khaimah
The UAE’s most adventurous emirate, Ras Al Khaimah is home to towering mountain landscapes and weaving coastal and inland mangrove stretches that make for a variety of playgrounds for adventure lovers. The roads through the mountains themselves are perfect for those with a need for speed, while those who are satisfied with the thrills of the mind - and figurative time travel - Ras Al Khaimah is also an illustrious centre for cultural treasures and historic finds. Taking adventure experiences to new heights, Jebel Jais is home to adrenaline-pumping adventures like a via ferrata, sky tour and the world's longest zipline, It also recently added a gravity-defying sky maze to its impressive fleet of daring attractions. After a day of fear-facing, retreat to one of Ras Al Khaimah’s luxury resorts, such as the Waldorf Astoria Ras Al Khaimah, or enjoy Bedouin-inspired luxury at the Ritz-Carlton Ras Al Khaimah Al Wadi Desert.
    Hatta
For an escape from the city, Dubai residents don't have to journey far. Located just 90 minutes north out of the city is the scenic heritage village of Hatta, where a stunning mountainous landscape and cooler climate offer visitors the perfect getaway. For the adrenaline seeking junkies, there are numerous activities available at Hatta Wadi Hub activity centre through the cooler months. Mountain biking, kayaking, archery, axe throwing, zorbing and much more await for those wishing to make the most of the great outdoors. For those looking to simply retreat to the calm and return to nature, walking or hiking the mountains or taking to the waters of the Hatta Dam await. Check-in to the long-standing JA Hatta Fort (reopening June 21) for maximum comfort, or embrace the great outdoors by taking advantage of the upscale lodges and trailers built into the rugged mountains, which operate from October to May each year.
