Kennet and Avon Canal - To Bradford On Avon
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 лис 2024
- This is day two of Richard and Julia's explorations on a narrowboat on the Kennet and Avon Canal. In this episode we encounter our first lock, passing on the right and the joys of mooring on the bank.
Julia is a natural helmsman and shows off her piloting skills while Richard is handy with a mallet and mooring pin. But can they cope with a nine week baby on board?

Thanks, we had. Good time ,we are onboard, boat with you all, thanks
So, living on the water myself in NYC. I am fascinated and addicted to watching videos of you guys navigating the cannels in England. Who knew that there was a whole culture of people enjoying freedom and clean air. Keep boating.
Brilliant Richard great video, what makes it so much better is Joseph being sick on you and the cat clawing you 😉, Julia is always a super star 😊
Thanks mate!
Great comment Kevin!😂🤣😂🤣
Richard you know I don't mean it 🤔
Looks like y'all are having a good time! Though perhaps still getting adjusted to life on a boat!!! Hope you start feeling better Richard & Julia you not only looked extra gorgeous today you seem right at home as captain!
She is a star!
@@RichardVobes that little baby boy is ssssooooooo cute!😍😘🤗💕
@@RichardVobes what was the town you stopped at for supplies? Did you do any exploring there? (In other words, did you film anything of interest to share w/ us?)
We are still moored here at Bradford-On-Avon getting some exploring done 😁
@@JuliaHartley little Joseph is soooooo beautiful Julia! What a sweaty!!!💕😘👶🏻
Ahoy there me hearties. Great stuff-little Joseph is a sweetheart. In years to come he might enjoy seeing this.
Thanks for Sharing .. Keep an eye out for reefs, shoals and krakens eh.
Hahahahah will do!
Sounds like you are having a good time and now you are fully provisioned, you are all set! Hope your cold gets better, Richard!
Thanks Mathew
Something you said rang a bell in my memory. When I went on my canal trip in the long distant
past. The friend I was with set goals for each day (so I let him get on with it for an easy life).
It was a matter of getting to the set destination for each day, rather than taking time to explore
along the way.
That makes sense. Thanks.
@@RichardVobes Just take each day as it comes, you won't be disappointed then.
What a fine adventure 😁 Well done Captain Julia!
Super production values in this video, especially the start with three views of you getting off the boat. The thought and effort to give a few seconds of quality viewing. Thanks.
Hilperton, HILPERTON, Richard
Anyway, what a great place to moor up. I loved that spot.
The canal transport corridors are among the most picturesque historic monuments of the empire in my opinion...
Get better Richard and well done Julia!
Thanks so much - appreciated.
Julia - what a navigator - what a woman !
Yes, someone new to watch on the canals.
Thanks very much.
What a lovely first day. Julia certainly looks as if she knows what she is doing, so keep on filming (and making tea!) Looking forward to seeing your views of BoA and the wonderful aqueduct just beyond.
As a marine engineer, I've worked on all of ABC's boats at Caen Hill, (pronounced Cane Hill), including a LOT in the marina where I was moored.
This is a great idea Richard - looking forward to further episodes.
I do love walking the canals, I do the Chester canals often. :)
A very rare opportunity to share the only canal related joke i've ever heard.
Many years ago in the 18th century an actor was making his way up to Stratford and decided to hitch along the canal,
He got a lift on a barge carrying horse manure ,declaring he was "On his way to do the Bard justice at Stratford.
They reached the first lock and the lock keeper shouted out "Declare your load, bargee"
He responded with "100 tons of horse s*** and an actor"
This went on ,passing through lock after lock, with the same exchange until they reached the tenth lock.
The lock keeper came out and shouted the usual "Declare your load, bargee"
Before he could respond the ,by now, very miffed actor piped up "I say,my good man, before we go any further,i think we should do something about the billing!"
That's man flu,men don't get "common"colds.
When you said you were working out your route to Bradford,i'm surprised Julia didn't suggest you use the canal!
Nice to see your natural affinity with animals shining through, first the cows, now the cat!
Driving a car is soooo much more tricky than driving a car but I guess its easier the more you do it!
fantastic vids Richard.... really enjoying them of your narrowboat trip.
Lovely boat 👍🏻
Thanks
I watch a few canal vlogers and there seems to be to time scales real life time and canal time. So sit back and relax.
Good time of year to go, less traffic.
Yes it is actually very quiet.
Hello guys another totally smashing vlog.
Thanks so much.
Seems like a lovely trip
Is it my imagination or are you more relaxed than in your other films? Have fun!
Great video. I now want to book a narrow boat holiday.......lol
Hope you feel better soon
I would so love to do this one day! It is on my 'Life List'...I do not have a 'bucket list' as technically that means you do a thing once and tick it off your list..... for me I may want to do something again :)
I agree with you there - I want to do this many times.
The one we hired was called reed bunting. I think they're all named after birds
Well that was very good, you look like you're having fun! Is there a tunnel on route? I'm looking forward to seeing a lock. Will done you three, great video 👍
I don't think there is a long tunnel just bridges.
What a wonderful experience you are having. Little Joseph looks very happy. It looks like a fabulous place to be. Give young Master Joseph a peck on the cheek from old Judy. ❤️😎😻
Will do - thanks so much fr watching our exploits.
Steep learning curve! I had a joke about the Russian leader,do you like Putin? I don’t know,I never puttleled! And here you are putteling along!
Hahaha!
