Bonnie Raitt is one of my favorite female artists. She's the real deal - she paid her dues. Her voice has been aptly described as "Honey Soaked and Whiskey Scratched". Well done!
She is a rockstar. She's also one of the greatest Blues guitarists who specializes in slide guitar, male or female. Also a great songwriter. For another great sassy song, look up her live duet with Bryan Adams, Rock Steady.
She is a certified 'bad ass' soulful, bluesey rock singer! Her dad was a famous Broadway actor/singer. I saw her back in the early 70's when she was a first act before the Byrds. She came out w one guitar & her outrageous voice & shut up all the detractors that only wanted to see the featured artists, the Byrds. She told everyone to 'shut the #*% up and just listen!' And then she rocked the house!
In the mid 70s, every girl I knew in college was required to own at least one Bonnie Raitt album and one Carole King, namely Tapestry. I drove through a blizzard to see hear her at a ski resort. Me and about 20 other people braved the storm and had Bonnie all to ourselves. Awesome
Step Brothers-Give ‘Em Something to Talk About, The Client List-Give ‘Em Something to Talk About, Boys On the Side-You Got It, American Idol-I Can’t Make You Love Me, BONNIE IS A LEGEND!!!! SHE CAN SING, AND PLAY THE GUITAR AS GOOD IF NOT BETTER THAN MOST MALE PERFORMERS!!! AND YES, REDHEADS ARE JUST NATURALLY SASSY!!!! GOD GAVE US THAT LITTLE EXTRA SPARK!!!!...LOL...PROCEED WITH CAUTION...LOL
Bonnie is one of the greatest slide guitarists around. She has played with most of the surviving Blues Masters. She even started the Blues Foundation to financially support these old cats who didn’t get royalties or attribution for their songs in the past. She’s the real deal. ❤
When Bonnie Raitt won a Grammy this year for her song “Just Like That”, I gave all the nominated songs a listen, and it was no doubt the best song won,and by a great artist with only 142 million YT Subs. Kind of shows that great marketing doesn’t always win over real talent. Very moving song.
A Bonnie Raitt song you will love is her and Ruthie Foster singing Johon Prine's Angel From Mongomery. "Angel..." is arguably her signature song from her early career.
Good idea, gotta start with John Prine’s original though - preferably live. Doing them back to back would be awesome. Or a triple play concluding with Prine and Raitt singing and playing “Angel From Montgomery” together.
Bonnie is a legend. One of the greatest slide guitar players on the planet. Ivy League educated (Radcliff) She cut her teeth with many old black blues artists. They love her as well.
Bonnie is one of THE best slide guitarists ever. She worked a long time before commercial success hit. She was 45 when her Nick of Time album won the Grammy for best record. I remember the first time I heard her on the radio. Her song Nick of Time played right after Stevie RayVaughn’s Tightrope. It was a life changing music day for me, bcz it was my first time hearing Stevie Ray Vaughan too. Neither she or Stevie Ray, can be equaled in their gifts. I regret never getting to see Stevie Ray live , RIP. Bonnie, I have seen twice. Never disappoints.
Bonnie has been a favorite of mine for years. “Guilty”, “Love Me Like a Man”, “Darlin”, “Angel From Montgomery”, “Nick Of Time”, “Dimming Of The Day”, “Louise”, “Runaway”, “Mighty Tight Woman”, “Real Man”, “Storm Warning”, just to name a few! “Mighty Tight Woman” is my personal favorite! I’ve seen her in concert three times. 😎👵🏼☮️💜
Bonnie has been doing this a long time. As a young performer, her favorite artist was Sippie Wallace, whom she met at the 1972 Ann Arbor Blues and Jazz Festival. She spent a lot of time with Lowell George and Little Feat - she loved Lowell's slide guitar playing - and can be found in the back-up vocals on a number of tracks. If you haven't done a deep dive on Bonnie it is well worth your time. Additionally, a deep dive on Little Feat will blow your mind. A good place to start would be the song Spanish Moon.
So many great songs and albums, it's almost not fair. She used to have the great Sippie Wallace open for her, recognizing her roots. I saw her with Jackson Browne doing an anti nukes benefit. My favorite Bonnie performance was at The Greek Theater in Berkeley. It was her brother's birthday. Her father was there, the legendary Broadway performer, John Raitt. He came out and sang Oklahoma with Bonnie and her band. Everyone was standing and raising their arms when the word Oklahoma was sung. Then they sang Happy Birthday, of course. She does look like Meryl Streep, though I never noticed it, another great talent. Bonnie is 73 and Meryl is 74. Great insights, as usual.
Bonnie is a true legend of music of many different genres. She is simply amazing no matter what she does. This song became an inside joke between me and one of best friend gal pals when rumors started about us. So, we played those rumors up to where it showed how ridiculous it was for whom ever started the rumors. Even today we still laugh about it.
Bonnies extreme talents have put her in both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Country Hall of Fame. Been diggin her for decades! Her ties with other great musicians runs deep. Lovely living legend! Her father, John Raitt, was a wonderful singer, actor on Broadway. Do believe he had the lead in the long running musical "Oklahoma".
I saw her in concert (Mavis Staples opened). It was amazing! Her country music is iconic, but she's fantastic with the blues. And she has a great sense of humor in her stage presence
Dolly Parton is in the Rock and Roll hall of fame, and protested her own inclusion.... and after her induction, made a rock album so that her induction made sense. Bonnie has largely been played on and charted in the country music genre. I'm not saying that it's correct pigeon holing her like that, but people do like narrow classifications
Bonnie does it all: blues, country, soul, folk, as well as rock. Put them all together and file under Americana. I most highly recommend "Angel from Montgomery" particularly the duet version with Ruthie Foster. It's a melancholy country blues written by John Prine, elevated to glory. I've had the great good fortune to hear/see both of these talented ladies in concert, but separately. They are national treasures.
Bonnie is a legend!! Her father John Raitt was a well known actor on Broadway. Listen to other songs of hers called "ANGEL from Montgomery" ,"I can't make you love me" and "Nick of Time."
Bonnie Raitt is a super-star to me! I love her ability to make us feel every song! She's so gifted! It's that combo whiskey blues with a country flare!
Bonnie is the sassy blues queen, always, but what I love the most of this reaction, is you and your beautiful way of displaying your dedication to good music. Your expressions just leaves me with a big smile on my face. Thank you for that. ❤
have never missed a chance to see Bonnie live. she gives you all she has and enjoys doing it.... RIP Shirley Eikhard for giving us this beautiful song, Bonnie always gave her the glory!
Bonnie is the best.. and defined her own path in the music industry. All of the compliments people have left about her are all very TRUE!!! 🤩You're right Britt.. it was in a movie.... Something to Talk About in 1995 with Julia Roberts, Kyra Sedgewick, Dennis Quaid and Robert Duvall. It was the theme song for the movie.. and I loved it.. here's the trailer... 🥰 ua-cam.com/video/yxbLkx8A1WI/v-deo.html
It was sung by Will Ferrell in the 2008 film Step Brothers and also featured in the 1995 film Something to Talk About starring Julia Roberts and Dennis Quaid.
Love Bonnie Raitt - you can tell she's comfortable enough with her songs that she can take some liberties with it. Kind of like a Willie Nelson or Eric Clapton, she likes switching it up. Definitely a "mature woman coming into her power" vibe with her, too.
Bonnie Raitt was a respected blues singer and slide guitarist for years but not a commercial success until the late 80s/early 90s. She was one the cover of Rolling Stone in the 70s after her legendary cover of John Prine's "Angel From Montgomery", and played with Warren Zevon, Lowell George, James Taylor, Jackson Browne, many others. Many people knew her name, but it took a while to have major chart success. Since then though, she has become an icon of blues and roots music.
Bonnie is a true American treasure. Beautiful lady. Awesome slide guitar player with a great voice. I've seen her live too many times to count and will still take any opportunity to see her again!
Hi, Britt! I’ve been following you for awhile now and loving your reactions. Bonnie Raitt is one of my all time favorite singers and I really love this song. I checked your video list and didn’t find my other favorite of hers, I Can’t Make You Love Me. That one is certainly not to be missed. Edit, I see that you reacted to the Teddy Swims cover, but Bonnie’s is the gold standard.
She is so respected by many people in the music industry. She has been part of the E Street band of Bruce Springsteen and has been performing since the 70's. She's great, this song is her signature tune.
Really? Part of the E Street Band? Was this a one time thing? Patty Scialfa is also a red head, and she is a member of the E Street band. (And "The Boss's" wife) No matter how I word this, I sound like a snob. Not what I am aiming for. I want to see "Bonnie & The Boss" onstage!
Written by homegirl Shirley Eikhard🇨🇦.Started hearing about her around the time i returned to Toronto from Vancouver, '78-ish. Met Shirley in '86 when she visited the manager of the restaurant I worked in, the owner had another place Shirley had performed in and they'd become friends. Anyhoo, great song, great interpreter in Bonnie, an all-round class act and top-tier talent. 😊❤ There was another red-haired slide-blues playing chick(!) named Ellen McIlwaine, who'd jammed with Jimi Hendrix, opened for numerous blues legends in NYC in the mid-60s, and relocated to Canada in the 80s, iirc, first Toronto, later Calgary. I caught an interview with her on a local TV station in '89 or '90 where she said her video for her new song was inspired by a show from the multilingual station at which I worked. She was of the opinion that God thought She'd had such a great idea with the red-headed blues mama thang that She made two of 'em! ❤✨️🕊
I was lucky enough to see Bonnie perform with Buddy Guy and Junior Wells at a public television station in Chicago in the mid 70's. Before her commercial success. That concert is on youtube.
Thank you a hundred times over for doing a reaction to Bonnie...I love me some Bonnie and I keep asking "reactors" to do some Bonnie songs. Get on some more..."Can't Make you Love me" and "You" and well, just about any of her songs will do!
She is the real deal. Her version of Angel From Montgomery is my favorite, written by John Prine - a legend in his own right. Love the performance where they sang it together.
This was my mom's jam. When she needed to feel "her". She had to remind herself, F them folks...she's awesome, let'em talk about how she's a baaaad btc. She was fiery and would still worry about others' gossip but then she had friends who loved her that way. I am just like her and it's lonely when you tell folks exactly what they make you feel. That fearlessness is hard. In the 60's, it got you lifelong friends but in the 80's, it was cool until middle school. Then nope.
Omg!!!! Somebody needs to pitch this to the right producer!! Meryl Streep plays Bonnie Raitt, in the movie of her life. Bonnie Raitt: Let's Give Em' Something To Talk About. Her story is DEFINITELY worth telling!!!!
Bonnie is one of the best!! The best female blues guitarist bar none. Play some of her earlier work like "Give It Up or Let Me Go" or "Women Be Wise". I have seen her every time she came to the KC area since 1972 including a memorable KU concert in a blizzard attended by fewer than 200 people and we all just came up and sat around on the stage.
"LOVED,🎵 LOVED,🎵 LOVED 🎶, your reaction to Bonnie Raitt. I think that Blues is her specialty but she can definitely "Rock" !! You are so cute how you "groove" to certain songs. This is a classic.!! ☺
There was a 1995 movie with Julia Roberts, Dennis Quaid, and Kyra Sedgwick called Something To Talk About? They were sassy sisters who could have sang it. Been forever since I've seen it.
Great to see Britt react to Bonnie. Makes me want to see reactions to Melissa Etheridge's great songs. Melissa shares that something special that comes from great lyrics and masterful delivery. I don't know if Britt's already reacted to to but I'd love a reaction to Melissa's 'Come to my Window'. Its another great song preformed masterfully.
This was "our song" when I needed someone to help me through some rough times. It wasn't a serious relationship - we both knew we weren't "the one" for the other, but that was okay. In reality life at the time was more like a Barry Manilow song -- but the public side of the relationship was all about giving them something to talk about. Thanks for the memories.
Bonnie Raitt is one of my favorite female artists. She's the real deal - she paid her dues. Her voice has been aptly described as "Honey Soaked and Whiskey Scratched". Well done!
No she doesn't
Note to Meryl Streep
I saw Bonnie in the 70s in concert in Pensacola Florida and have been in love with her ever since
She is a rockstar. She's also one of the greatest Blues guitarists who specializes in slide guitar, male or female. Also a great songwriter. For another great sassy song, look up her live duet with Bryan Adams, Rock Steady.

Bonnie Raitt ( with Bruce Hornsby on keyboards) - I Can't Make You Love Me - such a great performance!
💯🙌💜
Agreed! Anyone who’s loved and lost will be gutted by this one.
Bonnie is one of the greatest slide guitarists around. She has played with most of the surviving Blues Masters. She even started the Blues Foundation to financially support these old cats who didn’t get royalties or attribution for their songs in the past. She’s the real deal. ❤

Love her
Bonnie plays a mean slide guitar. And a fav for this lady here!! ❤
Her album Nick of Time...❤🔥
Bonnie is a legend. One of the best concerts I’ve ever been to.
Perfect song, perfectly played, perfectly sung. This song was HUUUUUUGE in it’s time.

"Angel from Montgomery" is a strong song.
Bout To Make Me Leave Home
Check her singing angel from Montgomery with John prine
My favorite of her songs is “love has no pride” but everything she does is gold.

Pretty sure that the foundation of her music is the blues. He father John Raitt played in many Broadway musicals.
@@musicairplanes4884 Yep. Blues, Folk, Country, Rockabilly, she's done a bit of it all.
Bonnies extreme talents have put her in both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Country Hall of Fame. Been diggin her for decades! Her ties with other great musicians runs deep. Lovely living legend!

Mavis and Bonnie?! That was some show.
Mavis was absolutely marvelous. She may not be large in statue, but she is humongous in presence.
Mavis and Bonnie, that's some girl power I can get behind.
Dolly Parton is in the Rock and Roll hall of fame, and protested her own inclusion.... and after her induction, made a rock album so that her induction made sense.
Bonnie has largely been played on and charted in the country music genre.

Yes! She is a rock star
Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous reaction, Britt! You blow me away. ❤❤❤
Bonnie Raitt is awesome, blues, rock, folk she can and has done it all and done it great.
She is gorgeous, amazing singer.
Love, Love, Love your reaction to this!! My wife and will get up and dance to this song no matter where we are. It's our song! It's so about us!
There are duets with Bonnie and almost all the famous blues names: Sippy Wallace, Aretha, Papa John, BB King.......
Yes, the movie is called SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT.
She is listed as one of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time!
She performed at the original Woodstock. This is the song that my wife and I say is "our song"
You'll love her "Love Me Like A Man," too!
Totally underrated slide player. One of the best to ever do it.
Yeah she’s a Rock Star. I’m a Retired Navy Sailor. Knew this years ago.
Bonnie is the sassy blues queen, always, but what I love the most of this reaction, is you and your beautiful way of displaying your dedication to good music. Your expressions just leaves me with a big smile on my face. Thank you for that. ❤
You will absolutely groove to Bonnie's super bluesy song , RAINY DAY MAN.
I Can't Make You Love Me 💖😭 my favorite & most amazing song IMO. This was playing when I was in highschool, me and my best friend Cory.
My sister met her husband at work. This is their song. They even danced to it at their wedding.
My parents were big fans of Bonnie Raitt so I grew up on her music. She has so much talent and there will be no one like her.
have never missed a chance to see Bonnie live. she gives you all she has and enjoys doing it....
RIP Shirley Eikhard for giving us this beautiful song, Bonnie always gave her the glory!
She's a Hall of Famer all of her choices are good 61 of those people that are cool without even trying to be cool

I knew exactly what she was trying to remember. Fantastic movie!! ❤️🔥
It was sung by Will Ferrell in the 2008 film Step Brothers and also featured in the 1995 film Something to Talk About starring Julia Roberts and Dennis Quaid.
Bonnie Raitt is the bomb. Always has been.
She sings my mantra song… “I Will Not Be Broken.” She’s flat out amazing…
Love Bonnie Raitt - you can tell she's comfortable enough with her songs that she can take some liberties with it. Kind of like a Willie Nelson or Eric Clapton, she likes switching it up. Definitely a "mature woman coming into her power" vibe with her, too.
She's blues. Through and through.
Her " I Can't Make You Love Me" is epic.

After George Michael died I stumbled across his cover of this song. Had no idea he’d done it. It’s hauntingly beautiful…💔
Just Bonnie's mastery of slide guitar makes her an immortal- so, two measures in, she owns it. A great take by one of the greatest ever.
She was great on the guitar and her voice was excellent. Her father was a famous Broadway musical actor and singer. John Raitt.
Angel from Montgomery written by John Prine and prefromed by Bonnie Raitt, is special
She is so respected by many people in the music industry. She has been part of the E Street band of Bruce Springsteen and has been performing since the 70's. She's great, this song is her signature tune.

Saw her with my gf in '98 at Lilith Fair, in WPB, Florida. She was one of the headliners. Amazing performances from all of the artists.
And she plays a first class slide guitar 👊
Great comparison, The great Tina! Definitely influenced this artist and touched so many. RIP you beautiful ball of energy
i simply love her!
I fell in love with Bonnie in early 1970s, and she's still one of my favorites today. What soulfulness this woman has ❤❤
Oh dear lord! Another one! Well , I don’t have to tell you. You said it yourself. Bonnie Raitt is a rock star! Love, love, love, love her!
Off the same album, "A Thing Called Love". Even more sass.
I was lucky enough to see Bonnie perform with Buddy Guy and Junior Wells at a public television station in Chicago in the mid 70's. Before her commercial success. That concert is on youtube.

Bonnie at Red Rocks was an excellent evening! She is laid back, humble, engaging and simply fabulous.
She won a Grammy for her duet with blues legend John Lee Hooker I'm In The Mood.. Great song.
God, I love her!!❤️
blues is the word you're looking for. she has spent many years playing with all the old blues legends.
I love how you “rock out” Miss Brit! ❤
"Black Velvet" is another banger!
Bonnie is the best. I have 22 of her albums and lots of collaborations.
Another great tune from her is "Runaway "
Saw her more than 20 years ago in Austin TX. Awesome concert! First rate performance.!
Omg!!!! Somebody needs to pitch this to the right producer!! Meryl Streep plays Bonnie Raitt, in the movie of her life. Bonnie Raitt: Let's Give Em' Something To Talk About. Her story is DEFINITELY worth telling!!!!
There is already a movie called Something to talk about. It stars Julia Roberts and Dennis Quaid.
🤣🤣🤣 funkified I have there heard that word, I love it 😊😊😊 love love love this song ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 yes yes yessssss, let's do it 🌻🌻🌻
Bonnie is one of the best!! The best female blues guitarist bar none. Play some of her earlier work like "Give It Up or Let Me Go" or "Women Be Wise". Yes .. that's right .. and this Bonnie Raitt track was the theme song of the movie!!! 🥰 The trailer... ua-cam.com/video/yxbLkx8A1WI/v-deo.html
I;ve always loved Bonnie's guitar playing., And was so happy when she finally got big-time Grammy-winning success with this record/LP.
I love her material and her bluesy, funky, brilliant guitar playing. And she's got an excellent voice as well. The complete package.
TRUST ME on these 2 MUST HEAR tracks,, The Indigo Girls "Closer To Fine" & "Galileo"
Love me some Bonnie Raitt! Her album Luck of the Draw is phenomenal. Listen to the track I Can't Make You Love Me.
That song is so relatable to most people and an awesome song
Great to see Britt react to Bonnie. Makes me want to see reactions to Melissa Etheridge's great songs. Melissa shares that something special that comes from great lyrics and masterful delivery. I don't know if Britt's already reacted to to but I'd love a reaction to Melissa's 'Come to my Window'. Its another great song preformed masterfully.
She does this cover justice.
Great reaction! Thanks!
She is a legend and every word of it is true! She is so awesome!
Bonnie is one of my favorite artists also.
Have always loved this song. The whole album is great actually. Bonnie is a legend!
