Fashion icon Carla Zampatti's been dubbed the Coco Chanel of Australia: from humble beginnings in Lovero, Italy, to surviving the boom-bust "Greed is Good" ethos of the 1980s. Knowing what women want -- and surprising in equal measure.
"Nostalgia is not my thing", she's said, but, as a five-year-old, la passeggiata is a memory invoked several times in her memoir 'My Life, My Look': paying homage to the family evening stroll in her hometown, Lovero; her mother's inherent creativity, combined with the urging instilled in her by her two older brothers: "Dai, Carla, e possibility farlo" ("Come on Carla, you can do it!").
