Its true, also because we know how terrible most of these cars handle in road form. It’s impressive to see them in this capacity. We have no frame of reference for series you mention, so stuff like this is “real”.
@@robl7532I'd rather get surprise oversteer in old rear wheel drive car, than in modern fwd. At least as long as weight balance is somewhat equal front and rear, they give time to react. Modern cars don't, and SUVs try to roll.
Took me back to late 60's, Brands hatch, Frank Gardner in the Mustang being hounded through the corners by the Mini's, then powering away down the straights. Awesome sound.
Kinda strange to see a RHD Boss 302. I assume this is for 1970 and up due to the lack of earlier Mustangs and Camaros? Really enjoyed this. Goodwood Road & Racing always delivers!
There was a RHD 1965 or ‘66 in the all Mustang race too, unless they’re Australian imports I’m not sure why you’d modify a race car to RHD, unless maybe there’s an advantage with using a more modern steering rack.
@garethmcrae668 anything is possible, not many oval circuits left now though. I'd guess any advantage would be outweighed by a corner in the opposite direction but I'm no expert.
@@CycolacFan optimal in an oval but any circuit that is run clockwise means having the driver's weight over on the OS (in my case 100kg) would help in the predominantly RH bends. In BTCC, the old maximum weight ballast penalty was 65kg bolted to the passenger footwell- enough to make the difference.
NASCAR back in the 1970s was pretty exciting too, and they were racing "real" cars, not the "cookie cutter" cars they race now. Back then if you saw a car with Ford or Chevy livery you knew it was a real Ford or Chevy that'd started out as a real production car.
Fook those are litterally the car I was looking for at the 24H of Spa when i was a child... im all in on the camaro ( tehre is no Gitane BMW ) the Walkinshow Jag was something , Thank you Goodwood !
@GT7-wonky you know we do this aswell right? And even at Bathurst. It's called touring car masters and they drive rough, there's plenty of clips with millions of views and we have more mustangs and camaros if your after one. Plenty of 2nd and 3rd gen rhd conversion for around 15 - 30k aud and have the aftermarket that supports v8s.
Love your work Regan. Looks like the car is finally exactly where you want it, so congratulations on achieving that, many builds never get there. Time to drive and enjoy.
So awesome guys the accuracy of this spectacular sporting event surely the pure adrenaline rush puts me and surely others on a unusual high i thank you guys for giving me this spectacular event of sports racing 👍
We had trans am racing in the U S. We don't have touring car racing, but I cool, we should have. But for a car to enter an official trans am race it has to be a 2 door trans am style production car like a Camaro or a Mustang, I could be a Pontiac grad prix, so by the early 70's the was race inspired Camaros and Mustangs, they're race approved before the ever hit the streets
I built my own first car when I was 17. Based on a Dodge Lancer my uncle gave to me. It was standing in the open for years with a tree growing through the floor.
Nah, that's just silly. Look at the tyre size of the cars on track. The A9X Toranas Brock drove were Group C - a totally different formula to this race.
I was lucky enough to watch this type of cars at Laguna Seca, it's amazing. They sound loud and deep, and they must be a handful to drive. They move around a lot and that makes great racing
yes , once i saw him start at the front - i kinda knew he was a favorite , the commentator at the end said he has dropped a second - REALLY ,, he was just safely managing it ;;
I was curious to know how he came in late but left pits earlier than competition? Thought they had a mandated stop time? Or were competitors just too slow on driver change? Awesome race anyway.
Refuses to pronounce _Camaro_ properly too. I ALWAYS wear earplugs at Goodwood because you can't escape those tinny trumpet speakers with the endless prattle!
Lose the safety car. Localised safety makes for fairer and more exciting races. Why pause the race for an extended period when the hazard is only at a single point of the track?
That Flash vs Dario vs Priaulx battle 😍
And the Best touring cars driver in the world wins!
Amaizing Cars, love it. Fantastic sliding driving by Jake and Gordon

I don't care who wins, this is 100% awesome!!!!!!
Bring back races like this.
TransAm was the real deal BUT Aussie Supercars are just as, if not moreso, crazeeeee !
I watch F1 for about 5 minutes and I'm sleep. I can watch these all day.
This is way more exciting to watch than F1, Nascar, and Indycar.
You leave IndyCar out of this!!!

Not too many better sounding races than this
Great race to watch in person absolutely mind blowing great cars lovely noise and a blistering burble
Nothing better than old Camaros and Mustangs mixing it up with Capris. The sound and seeing skinny tire cars sliding is great racing
What a race! Pure sound and great old cars drifting around the wonderful Goodwood track - just wow!
Love that V8 sound.
frickin love those minis in there with the muscle! Great driving guys. Thanx for uploading
The best content on the web!
Fantastic car racing from goodwood for spice trophy 🏆
The sound of those old V8 reving is fantastic
50 minutes of pure racing pleasure....huge difference with F1, almost two hours and you get, not even the half of this pleasure.....
Great stuff! A Mustang or Camaro is definitely the weapon of choice.
Truly outstanding racing! Love the car variety.
Race On!
So cool seeing all of those old school cars racing! 😎😎
Love the BOSS 302
Amazing race but... could you sometimes stop talking so that we can listen to the beautiful engines sound...? Pleaaaaase
Another fantastic vid Thankyou GRR
Brilliant race
Commentators not mentioning at ALL the clearly jumped start from the 2nd row Camaro.
Adoro suas corridas e pena não ter muito tempo prá assistir. Vc são ótimos!!!😊
please do coverage of the back markers i love the dolomites and slower cars

Couldnt help my self commenting again but was watching grid form and was filled with excitement
My dad gave $3800 for his ‘70 Boss 302 brand new from the dealer. The only car he ever regretted having sold.
Far better than NASCAR‼️
That’s not difficult!
Indeed old man ! Indeed ! Much more fun here for less than 187million dollars !

Brilliant racing, hoping to go to the revival this year, Goodwood is better value for money than F1 .
Love that PW Boss in action. Looks awesome in action!!!!

I so want to see this type/class of racing for real. Watching this channel always makes me want to move to Britain from Australia

got a thumb up right off the warm-up lap and subbed starting the race
This is great racing!!

The minis are just awesome
So nice to racing cars slide in the turns!
So like the T/A series in North America, I take it the V8's also have a 5.0/302 cubic inch restriction?
The mini...go little fella!
This was so enjoyable!
Beautiful cars
Chapeaux to Mr Thorpe after coming out of the driver’s seat, his interview was a tribute to modesty and understatement, loved that!😢

Love it! Split bumper Camaros racing!
My first car was a 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1
mine was an old mutton plunger, 4on the stalk, rip the cods of any old two bob mustang

I did have a 70 boss 302 in the late 1970s, i had to sell in because of financial reasons! Boy i miss that Boss
I wonder if the Maroon/black with the white roof Mustang ever belong to Jim Click, raced in Portland ,Or and Monterey Historics?
Where's the Hailwood trophy race?
Great race!
My favorite weekend of the year
I ❤ old cars
'And it's the Camaro, closely followed by a Camaro and the two Camaros fighting it out behind...'
Which is horrible to hear because he pronounced Camaro incorrectly every time.
Love to have seen Peter Brock take these guys on with an A9X
And do in-car commentary as he laps most of the field.
Nah, that's just silly. Look at the tyre size of the cars on track. The A9X Toranas Brock drove were Group C - a totally different formula to this race.
Recently got the book of BTCC's 60 years, a true GEM
Great racing.
I had a 72 capri 2300 , it was the very best car I ever had, what a dream
I like to leave these on for the sound. It's great.
Gordon Spice; the only driver I've ever met who constantly wanted more oversteer dialed into a F5000.
What motors do the Capri's run ? The Cosworth v6?
Essex V6 with single carburetor.
How do they work out the classifications…? Mini a touring car..! 1275cc v 3+lts..
Are the rovers still running the old Buick motor
An American Ford escort isn't the same as a European food escourt. The cool ones went to Europe, we didn't get those
Oooohh Greaat Stuff
Wow that old Capri still has the stock kitschy plaid door panels. Plaid door panels on a racing car. AWESOME.
I’m sad that there are no Australian classic cars anywhere on the grid, but then a 1971 ford falcon XY GTHO phase 3 would monster the whole field.
Fantastic sounding cars .
Drive like you stole it😂❤ memories
Thanks for the final run down!
Brilliant :)
Have I understood thiss properly? Dario Franchitti gets 2 drives? Car 5 and car 21?
Much better than the tcr world tour!!!!!
I didn't know the Camaro was this popular in Britain 😅
I don't consider mustangs and Camaros touring cars a touring car race should be a bunch of sedans with four doors
Yeah this is more trans am than anything
Clearly you have never watched touring car Masters in australia
Well post some then mate.....
@hendrikdebruin4012 did fox or someone buy the rights to it? I remember seeing the clips everywhere and then it just dropped off
I had no idea we had races like this in the uk any more!?
I'd fit right in with my Kia Soul 1.6 liter inline four... with gas direct injection... and automatic or manual shifting...
Wanted Ric Wood to win 'cause I'm a massive Capri fan. 🇬🇧

The commentators missed the Davies/Sutton changeover due to their ‘Jake Hill Fan Club’ coverage 😂
And was Tingram even mentioned?
So exactly how it is watching the BTCC? No great shock given it's the same commentator.

Ford built the DB series for Aston Martin as well, I dont see any though.
What are the Capris ? 2.8 injected or 3.0 Carburetors ? or something else ? lol
They are all 3.0 Essex V6 with carburetor, tuned engines to Group 1 rules producing around 270-290 Bhp.
