Opel wagon in 1960's was called Caravan. But indeed, the driver was pushing that old little Opel through the bends as fast as it goes! Those things oversteer violently when losing the grip, so driving it just on the limit is work of art.
My brother had a Fiat like that one but it was black he also had an Opel GT evidently he loved hunks of crap that it was hard to find part for in America in the 80s
They used to rally these things. The one I drove had a problem. On a bend, all the fuel would slosh to one side of the carburettor bowl and the damned thing would cut out.

if dad had gone to the other side of the guardrail he might even be considered a fit dad. But, staying where your kid can be killed yeah, maybe a bad choice.
@@blue04mx53 my thought. Shit can happen in car but standing right to the track infront of the guardrail is a bad choice...he should have lift his kid to the other side.
The 300SL Gullwings were amazing to see on the track, and I don't know if I was more amused by the X-19s spinning out or the Kadett wagon not spinning.
All I could think of the SLs was "that would be a very very expensive wreck." My grandfather had one used in the early 60's. My father begged him not to sell it while he was off in U.S. Army basic training. It was gone when he got back. Sure would have been a great inheritance! That Opel wagon was up on three wheels some of the time. Amazing.

Seeing the Bugs out on the Nurburgring was AWESOME!!! If I ever get over to Germany, maybe I should bring "Das Bug" (a/k/a MY Bug), so I can take a lap.
Yes it is, I went around in my Peugeot 406 estate. You can have all the trickary in in your car but if you dont have the skill to control it you will take your car home in a couple of carrier bags. So if you feel the car loosing it just slow down.
I think it's the lift-throttle oversteer. On a rear engine, or X-19 mid-engine car, you do most of your slowing down BEFORE the corner and either steady-state throttle or accelerate through. If you come in a bit fast and suddenly lift the throttle, the weight transfer front back to front does nasty things and the back is going to come around at least a little, maybe a lot. These guys are not experienced driving these cars fast regularly, that's obvious to me. Front-engine cars are safer and easier for most people. Knowledgeable, attentive, skilled drivers can go very fast in a mid-engine or rear engine car.
Looks like a Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 SS Corsa. Think this one is a 1942, but im not shure. Lovely car. 🍀 The 6C’s was the “smaller” ones. 8C’s the bigger ones. The supercars before Ferarri and Lamborghini. I have a 1969 Gt 1300 Junior. Lovely to see its pedigree still at the tracks.

It is both I guess. I love to drive this caravan, especially fast. It looks like it would tip over, but it doesn't. Handling is good, but if it oversteers, that is brutal.
Interesting colleInction. The Fiats sure had a hard time. The gullwings were cool, and a Kadett wagon? The M1 is one of my favorite cars of all time. The beetles were cool, esp the last one
the guy really knows how to handle that Opel kadett wagon !
