- Bon Jovi - Living Proof | 80s Bon Jovi Style Cover by Kris Di'Kascos
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As a massive fan of Bon Jovi since the early 90's, I am eagerly counting the days until the release of their upcoming new album, Forever, on 7th June. The band have since released a couple of tracks from the album, with the most recent being a song titled, Living Proof. It's a really great, rocking piece of music with a riff and chorus that really harkens back to their big anthem hits of the 1980's. In fact, the song has such a similar vibe and structure to their stuff from that era that it made me think about what it may have sounded like had it been a song off of their 'Slippery When Wet' or 'New Jersey' albums.
This thought process is what gave me the idea of covering this great song but instead of just doing a straight up rendition as is, I decided to re-record the song as though it was an 80's Bon Jovi track. I did this by using some software to remove the vocals from the Bon Jovi recording, then completely recorded and 80's style cover from scratch, pasting the isolated vocals track over the top when I was finished.
This is in no means a way of me trying to imply that this version is better (it most certainly is not) but just a fun 'what if' scenario. I hope you enjoy it and hopefully I'll see some of you when Jon and the boys are back touring the UK again.
Have a fantastic day...

I know, the obvious absence of a Talk Box is glaring but I currently don't own one. I used to own a Danelectro Talk Box but got rid of it many years ago and haven't got around to picking up another since.
What a great cover, simply amazing!
Thank you, I glad you enjoyed it.
THis so cool, and exactly how an 80's RS would've done it
Thank you! I tried to make it sound like what Richie was doing in the 80's both in technique and tone.
Amazing!!!! Definitely got that 80s vibe!! You should do the peoples house and the walls of Jericho too!!
Thank you! the Walls of Jericho is actually one of my favourites off of the new album, such a good song.
Kris let me tell you, youre version its better than original. Its simply awesome!!!!
Wow, thank you! That really means a lot to me.
Agreed !!! 👍
Awesome work!
Thank you!
Amazing, sounds like an outtake of New Jersey. Great version!
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it.
I can hear Breakout, Born To Be My Baby and I'd Die For you.
I tried to squeeze in a much of 80's Bon Jovi as I realistically could.
O cara deu aula... Deixou ou que era bom ainda melhor, parabéns seu trabalho faz total diferença. Só agradeço ❤
Thank you for the kind words.
Amazing playing, amazing sound.💯💥💫
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
You are back! Well done!
Thank you! Yes, I was absent for a while because I had some family stuff going on and also my 11yr old Mac (which I used for recording my music and videos) finally gave up the ghost, so I had to save up for a replacement.
Good job !!!!!! Captured the essence
Thank you! I'm glad you liked it!
Nice Jackson
Thank you!
is that id die for you reference?
Yes, well spotted! The chorus riff was influenced by I'd Die For You as well as The Hardest Part Is The Night.
I thought for a sec that the tip of your middle finger had been missing, hahaha. I was wrong.
Haha, yeah, it does look that way sometimes.
Just wow , this is how bonjovi songs should sound with Ritchie in, they should really hire you instead of shanks to fix there new broken album, any chance to fix the rest of the songs 😅
Thank you! I was trying my best to make it sounds as close to an 80's Jovi song as I could. I actually quite enjoy their new album, though I do find it a little frustrating that one of the better songs is a Japan exclusive bonus track.
@@KrisDiKascosI think this is one of the most confusing album of BJ , you can feel the potential of some songs like legendary and waves ,but somehow the band failed to deliver them either by lack of instrumentals ( no keyboard sound, sloppy drumming , barley solos ) or by mixing them with country style noise , Being said , living proof proves that Jon can still write quality songs, and ur version proof that BJ is not BJ without Richie
is that id die for you reference?
