Hey Paramoto! I noticed the same thing with my 23 MT07 in regards to scratches. Random question I have a bike for around 2 years but I always cleaned it with a cloth a not much else. I never ride in the rain so it never got that dirty but... is it ok to blast water like that to the extremely hot engine and exhaust right after you rode it? Because yea you need to ride to the wash station to wash it... the idea of cold water into extremely hot metal scares me
I agree it’s not ideal, however I ride in the rain all the time and I don’t see much of a difference between it getting wet from a wash or from rain. 😎
@@Paramoto959 rain is not a huge quantity of cold water at once. Rain is just "small splashes" that won't affect the metal block at all. However washing it is a huge quantity of cold water that can in fact create micro fissures and micro cracks on the metal (be it the engine or any other hot metal component) because it forces the metal to cool down too fast. This is true for any other metal and also applies to the brake disks. And knowing this, it scares me to just throw water into a hot engine and wash my bike that way. Even if its hot water (hot water will still be ultra cold compared to the engine temperature, but it will still be much better than cold water). I guess I better play it safe and just wash it when the engine is cold (or at least not right away after riding it) or find a washing station with hot water (rare and more expensive).
