Metal Detecting : Don't Throw It Away!

  • I highly recommend that you never throw away things you find metal detecting IF you do not positively know what they are. For example, on my last hunt, I almost threw away one very cool relic and thought twice about another. This video is my journey through that process.
As always, this is a how to metal detecting outdoor adventure vlog that is family-friendly and hopefully fun.
    About Aquachigger:
I like to make videos that promote my lifestyle of outdoor adventure, metal detecting, yapping, searching for river treasure, SCUBA diving, exploring abandoned places, hiking, caving, caring for animals and pets, and observing the things outdoors that often go unnoticed. I keep my UA-cam "Aquachigger" channel family-friendly and hope you subscribe if you like my style.
I hope to see you guys out there!

Please see my last video if you care to see me find the relics I talk about in this video. ua-cam.com/video/RzThGI9W2UI/v-deo.html
Also, here is a link to the "The Half Shell Book" book I use in this video. I highly recommend it. store7604577.company.site/The-Half-Shell-Book-p145210304

Holy crap Chigg, you really need to open a museum. The stuff I see behind you really does not pop up too often anymore. I remember one day you found like 15 shells or something crazy. You know where to look too. Not that long ago you were with a bunch of guys who were talking and your looking around and you saw a spot where the farmers field went right up to the stream, and sure enough you bend down and pick up a musket. Damn your good. I fully understand why you don't want to show your collection in totality.

Reminds me of here in Japan when I found a piece of metal near a castle site many years ago, I threw it in my keep junk box not knowing what it was, years later I was looking through the box and after taking more interest in it and how the holes on it were made and the faint design on it and then taking a look online at many pictures it turned out to be a plate from Samurai Armor, One of my best finds to date. You just never know like you say.
There has been other thing like that over the tears, Never hurts to keep it and review later.
Thanks for the info, been watching off and on over the years. I see we both are getting a lot older :)) 64 here :(

Our group doesn't throw anything. We still have all of the stuff we've found almost a decade and a half ago. And the simple reason is... maybe you don't know now, but you may know tomorrow. And sometimes, not always, but sometimes, you end up finding the rest of "item x". They're all geo-tagged and categorized on one of our guy's property. He has free space and enjoys tagging and writing stuff up. He wants to open up a museum when he gets old. :))

The bayonet looks to be a model 1799 socket bayonet "Austrian " made from 1799-1860 , used during the civil war mounted on the M1854 Lorenz .54 cal muzzle loader. I found one at a garage sale for. 50 cents 🤠
