This synth by Moog is SO vintage sounding yet with the still signature elements to it. What a synthesizer. I’m glad you’ve introduced me to this upcoming poly legend!!
Very nice! I really liked how you showed some realtime sound design with a focus on classic polysynth sounds. Most demos of the MUSE focus on the sounds that can be made with more complex modulations that it can do, which is also cool. But it's also nice to hear it really does the 'bread and butter' sounds very well too!
@@auralplex Not if you know how to play and make good music. Your comment is like saying a piano or guitar are 'boring'. Maybe in your hands, but not for people that know how to play them! 😉

Sounds like 8 Rogue in one, nice Q/P too amybe not an american moog but still great soundwise. Thinking of buying it, thank you for the demo (much better than official demos from Moog website)
Hope you do an exploration into the sequencer sometime? We're very Avant Garde, and the Muse seems to be perfect for being very Artistic, experimental, and improvisational. Thanks.😀
Great that you share your first impressions and sounds. Some questions if that is allowed: Would you say that the delay alters the sound (thins it out a bit?). What do you think of the noise floor? Is that on par with the excellent Moog Voyager?
love the look of it , doesnt sound great though ... ever since Bob stopped actually designing them they dont sound as good , i think the last one bob designed was a moog module , i forget its name , i used to have it , it sounded nice ... but this ... i bet its very expensive , does look very nice though , glad to see such a nice looking moog.
@@lukemillionmusicwhat i love about matriarch is the slightly saturated grittiness, very organic and smooth top end. Versus the sub37 that sounds more brassy and nasal to me. How does this fit into that spectrum do you think?
perhaps you could make another video where you play the grandmother as a bassline and the muse with hp filter on the top of the sound to show how the audio blends together.
I currently have a Prophet 10 and Polybrute and have been wanting to add an OB-X8 ever since it came out. However, I just have not been able to afford it. When listening to this Muse and the way it sounds, it seems a lot more versatile than the OB-X8. It also seems like it's very capable of making OB-style brass and string sounds too. Of course, I don't expect it to sound exactly likevan Oberheim because of the differences in the filter design and oscillators, but at least get close enough. Perhaps not being able to afford an OB-X8 for the last couple of years was actually a blessing in disguise. Maybe "THIS" is the synth that's a better alternative. Also, I do think the OB-X8 as well as the classic OBs from Oberheim are a bit plain aesthetically with very few features considering the overall price (and huge size) of these ynths, despite how good they sound. The Muse has the sound and the features (and looks too) at a more affordable price point. This full-featured keyboard is the same price as the "module" version of the OB-X8 and it sounds incredible!!!! WOW!!!! I want a Muse now. I can't wait to actually get a chance to play one first hand at a store to hear it in person.
I've already put 2 of my vintage synths up for sale to help pay for this. Lol! Sweetwater will have stock by September. Going to get in line. All I'll need is this, My prophet 5 and my Dx 7. I was going to get the OBX-8..but this is much more interesting to me.
Toys…riiiigth, whatever. They are different instruments with different capabilities and target audiences. The muse can do things that Montage and Fantom can only dream of, just as Montage and Fantom can do things that muse will never do. Comparing a synth to a workstation is chalk and cheese and shows a level of immaturity and fanboyism on your part. Well done.
@@X22GJP You have completely MISUNDERSTOOD what I meant! I know very well that are 2 different categories of instruments but AESHETICALLY the new workstations SUCKS and looks like keyboard TOYS without any wood and full of flashing lights , the last workstation that looked like a REAL instrument was the Korg Kronos.
yeah because you're going to get one right, no you wont, just like you wont get the PB12 or any other synth you hype up for fake views. How about knocking off the click bait Labyrinth vids too?
It's quite surprising that this Muse appears only a year after the change of owners of Moog Music, imo this synth is not a musical product as would have been designed and manufactured by Bob Moog, but as a financial product intended to bail out the cash flow of the new company, because the buyout, paying salaries, paying off debts must have cost money, so cash is needed immediately, all that remains of Moog is the sticker on the front panel. Imo this Muse looks like a marketing product intended to replenish the coffers. Sad.....
At this point in time not many people would need another poly synth. This sounds like the rev2. Polybrute 12 and many others. Nothing special to go blow $3500 bucks on.
This sounds nothing like a Rev 2 nor a PB, you could not be further from the truth. How does a ladder filter sound like a Curtis or a Steiner. I mean when you're wrong, you're just wrong.
@dankeplace you do realize there is more to a synth sound than just it's filter right? I agree, it does sound like a rev2 and that's perfectly fine. The rev2 is a gem.
except all the synths you mentioned have sonic character, where as the PB has the weakest oscillators of all the synths you mentioned and leans heavily on its FX section to make it sound decent, where as the others don't.

Absolutely Badass. I own one myself and can only dream of what you do.
Nice tweeting demo. Got mine last Sat. Not sure what to think. Factory patches all over the place. I guess i will have to program to find sweet spots
Muse sounds good with its thick bass. and analogue feel
Great demo! I love how immediate the panel design is. It really reminds me, oddly, of the immediacy of a Juno.
I have one on order. Going just under my Juno60 that I bought new in 83. Can't wait to enjoy these 2 synths together sharing a stand in my studio.❤
Amazing sounds you've coaxed out of it, well done :) So nice to have a modern Moog poly out there now.

They are two different beasts, but I am feeling that the Muse may be a polyphonic Matriarch on steroids!
