People bemoan the end of production of the Daytona 955i and Sprint RS so when Truimph actually make something similar with top notch build quality, suspension, engine and brakes, yet reviewers then moan about the riding position yet cannot find any actual faults with it. This bike is for those who love the brand, the RS1200 engine and chassis but want some form of wind protection and also a riding position that is superior for track riding. Having ridden supernakeds for a few years, I now own an RR after being sold after a test ride. The suspension and brakes are simply the best I have ever experienced, the engine is perfect for the road and it loves to rev for track. The riding position is fine, noting near as extreme as a new fireblade or ZX10, yet not as sit up and beg as the likes of an RS660. When you ride fast on track, wide bared supernakeds become a little unstable at high speed and you just do not get the feeling on the front end you get with clip-ons. My advice, test ride one and if you are considering one, you will be sold on it.
I completely agree with you, they didn't ruin the Speed Triple, it's a masterpiece. It's strange how many commenters can't imagine that some people (like me) prefer clipons.
Man, I think it’s awesome…but it is definitely extremely “sporty” for me. I rode it for a good 30 minutes today, and I was ready to get off. I did a bit of freeway, mid speed roads, and then stoplight traffic. I would absolutely LOVE to rip this thing on a track…unfortunately, the closest one to me is three hours away. I’m sure I would get more used to the riding position quickly. For context, I currently own a ‘16 Speed… The engine is sublime, honestly everything is amazing, I guess I’m just old and bent to that more upright naked position. As I type this my wrists and upper back are a bit sore from a 30 minute ride 4-5 hours ago. I love the looks, and would absolutely consider one in my garage if I had a track near me and did more of that…
I just bought the red version. It is NOT a sport bike but a Retro naked bike. A true 21'st century Cafe Racer. It looks fabulous next to my Thruxton R with it's classic fairing. The RR is at home on long twisties and not slow country roads like you are riding. It's a track day canyon carving machine.
Any issues with it? Really like them but I have heard lots of people have had to send them back for warranty work and all sorts. Some even gave them back for a refund.
I test rode one and fell in one with it. I found the riding position wasn’t as extreme as a dedicated sports bike, the brakes and suspension are phenomenal, power delivery perfect, and it just looks gorgeous. Trouble is I just can’t justify spending 18k on what would essentially be a toy! I also think that options such as tpms and heated grips should be standard at that price point.
Update on previous comments. I've now ridden my 1200rr on the track. Bike replaced my 1299 panigale which I thought I would miss on the track. I didn't miss the Pani at all which shows me how good the 1200rr is. I'm about half way up the fast group but shows me you have to be really super fast to exploit the extra performance the panigale can give you. Plus 1200rr is easier to ride on the track than the Pani. So for me it's a great all round sports bike
Great vid Andy, I think the indicator may be down to the settings. On the advance setting sliding the switch only activates a quick flash (lane changing etc.), to activate the full indicator you have to slide it for an extra split second. You get used to it after a while and I find it really useful for overtaking / lane changing etc. You can turn this setting off and have normal 'self cancelling' or no cancelling at all.
Absolutely love the look of this bike, all the right kit etc, I'm going to get a test ride soon just to get it out of my system. I know within twenty minutes I'll be back at the dealer in pain suffering the indignity of a broken middle aged body 😅
I’m with you. I like having a ‘proper’ sportsbike and a naked. But if I could only own one bike, then it might be this, because it’s a bit of both. And I think it’s great they tried something a bit different. Having ridden it myself, I can say it certainly felt to me a bit more practical on the road than a full-blooded sportsbike.
The whole reason naked bikes exist is that they do more than one thing well. If your sportbike is not full sportbike but more like a naked.... you're getting something that can sort of do it all, that is the point after all
I love this bike! Had the recall brake bolts serviced and update for the dash to eliminate the low oil pressure warning. The indicators with a touch will stay on 3 blinks good for changing lanes. A longer hold with keep them on longer like at a stop light. So happy with this bike. Had a 2011 Speedy till I got this new 1200RR. Cheers Andy 🍻
Just got mine a week ago and I love it. Everything you said about it is true but that's what makes it special imo. I love something that stands out in a crowd, and this is definately one of those things. I still have my GS if I want to go touring or ride 2 up, as an only bike might not be that practical. Have done a good 2 to 3 hours on it without any fatigue though. Oh and by the way if you only tap the indicator it flashes twice and goes off. That's what might have happened in your case.
@@andrewprice1189 I kept getting a "low oil pressure" warning. Did a software update, seems to be sorted. My cousin bought the RS and had a oil leak at the oil cap. They replaced the oil cap and seems to be sorted. I traded my 2020 Rocket on this bike, this is not good news😂🤦♂️
@@worldwide_motorcycles9163 I have also had the low oil pressure light & a transmission fault light (which was quickshifter failure) Check that you front indicators are not vibrating with the fan running. Also a recall on rear brake disc mounting bolts that may fall out. IMHO Triumph are having quality control issues & lack of proper testing & development on 1200 rs & rr plus a lot of components are obviously being sourced from China ie disc bolts with dodgy threads & faulty cooling fan motors etc
Rode the normal RS on a test ride and it was a monster but threw a low oil pressure fault (dodgy sensor production apparently). Triumph really need to wait a bit and release their bikes when they’re ready
I know that I'm really late to the party, but i finally took one of these out today. My daily commuter is an '05 955i Daytona. I found the RR to be less 'sporty' in the riding position and therefore less weight on my wrists. It also feels less aggressive when you wind the throttle wide open, but then you look down and see that you are WAY above the speed limit. If I could justify spending $24k (NZD) I think that I could quite happily live with it as a daily but it does need different bar end weights to get rid of the vibrations at motorway speeds. And it needs is a better (louder) exhaust.
Some things don't need to be logical, ir require an explanation. Like our choice in the better half, you go with how you feel. And nothing wrong with that. It wouldn't be my choice I can appreciate it for what it is. So much choice in bikes. Diversity relates to much more than the obvious. And the world is all the better for it. Your efforts in producing the Brucie Bonus are appreciated. Happy travels 👍
You're right about the indicator problem Andy, I'd a similar problem with my Street triple , to indicate left you had to hold the indicator switch against the stop for a second minimum, when I mentioned this at the first service they opened it up and said it was a faulty contact which they replaced, problem solved.
You mention 3 bikes you'd buy instead of the RR in 3 different categories. The RR can fulfil those roles (maybe not to quite the same level) but it's aimed at covering those markets. I hope it does well as it's a beautiful machine to my eye.
They really need to make a Speed Triple with the round headlight , fairing and trick electronic suspension from the RR , with upright handlebars from the RS. (edit : and you pretty much said that towards the end of the video . I should wait until I've finished watching before commenting !) I could be interested in a Speed Triple like that, assuming I could afford it.
Hi Mr Flyer! First time I’ve left a comment on your channel, so I’ll take the opportunity to say how much I enjoy your content. I’m with you when you say this triple looks so much better in the ‘flesh’ so to speak. However, rather than try to categorise it too much and compare it with others I recon I could love it as the kind of very handsome bike you park up and give a few proud glances back at. Oh and can’t resist saying, I recon the classic bike you spotted on your run was a Suzuki GT 750….lovely. Look forward to your next one 👍
thanks for the review. Have bought a new, old stock triple 1200 RR (2022 Dec. made) for a little over Ł14k (English pounds) and can't wait to receive it in the next couple of weeks. What category I would chose to place it? it is a gorgeous, powerful street bike that, in the right hands will shred tires as well as carve corners or Ill take it to Sepang and get some lap times in. I don't understand why motorbikes have to be categorised and criticised if they don't fit the norm. It is encouraging that Triumph made this bike because it is different and not a flash in the pan! In regards to categorising this is that it seems that all you bloggers stack on comments for each other and support your strange views on to the bike public. Every bike will have Knicks and knacks like indicator buttons or unusual placement. Let me tell you there is a thing called getting used to it. Not to be too critical is actually a nice change of things. stay professional and fair in views and if someone wants to spend money than so be it. I had a street fighter V4 and all the people rave about it. I did too but tires and petrol cost and servicing was just too high to make it a bike for me. So, I sold it within 14 months and it took me 18 months to find this beauty here. Can't wait. Thanks for the video and maybe look at your old videos where you have been more enthusiastic about the bikes tested.
@@MrAwesome3.3.5loving it and thanks for asking. Changed rear set and tail tidy as well as the chain to a gold bling DID and about to change my first rear tire after 3.5k km. Lots of torque, speed and the öhlins as well as stylema brakes are top level. The engine is the same as the RS. So a dream sound speed. I take it to the twisties and she points and shoots very accurately. Overall, my SFV4 is not missed. Oh yes, I don’t have to be at the petrol station until 240km are done. SF was half that. So yes, very happy! ❤ @papapanigale
You’re spot on Andy. With the RR Triumph have produced a beautiful bike which fits a niche that doesn’t really exist. Putting the the electronic Ohlins on the the R/S would have been smarter move. But if you’ve £18k burning a hole in your pocket and want something more exclusive, the Speed Triple RR is the one.
I got mine in early Feb, fell in love with the looks. At 55 just wish the bars were an inch or two higher. Your neck gets it the most being cricked back most of the time. 50% of the time I think it's the best bike I've ever had ( I also have a streetfighter V4) & 50% of the time I'm think mmmm maybe shouldn't have bought this! just wish they would put the electronic suspension on the RS
I really love the looks and I do covet that suspension setup; but I think this was a styling exercise only. I would hope that they drop the clip-on's and add that suspension to a trim level of the Speed Triple as you suggest in the video. That'd be a killer package.
Hi Andy, firstly glad to hear you got over your bout of Covid, and is a distant not so good memory. Now the bike, I think you summed it up perfectly for me, which is such a shame as undoubtedly it's a lovely bike, but when you can possibly afford the price tag, you may be to old for the riding position, so only time will tell. For Triumph's sake I hope we are massively wrong and they sell shed loads. Thank you...
Triumph should create a comfy sport tourer like the VFR of old using the Speed as a base. No need for Ohlins just the Stylema brakes and they will sell bucket loads.
Saw one at the dealership and thought it was the prettiest bike I've seen in a long while. That said, I'd go for the RS -- your comparison with the RnineT Racer is spot on; that was unridably uncomfortable. If I wanted performance, looks, and discomfort, I'd get a Ducati.
They look wonderful but i am far too old for my creaky bones buying something with a seating position like that, the bike you saw on your travels was a Suzuki 750 GT water cooled, a absolute legend of a machine!!
Glad you're recovering from Covid Andy. It will be interesting to see how it goes. I tend to agree that it will only appeal to those that like the look. A bit like my Thruxton R which I updated with the Cafe Fairing, Vance and Hines exhaust etc.. IMHO, it looks really amazing, sounds fantastic, and rides wonderfully, but those lowered clip-ons makes the riding position really uncomfortable. The longest ride I have done in one day was 250 miles and I was completely fatigued, wrists throbbing and left it in the garage for a month. So I went out and bought an R1250GS (of which I am very, very grateful for your advice), less sporty looking, but oh so comfortable!!
Another beautiful bike from Triumph, Great to see the reviews of the bikes you test ride, I'm not in the market for a new bike but the cost would put me off and the fact that I can no longer ride anything with a sports bike riding position ,Not that I have ever owned a sports bike or had the desire for one have tried a few out years ago wasn't for me , , I like the more upright touring bikes ,
A friend of mine just bought one of these. I'll get to check it out in a few hours. Hopefully at some point I'll get to take it out for a ride to check it out properly. I've ridden his 2020 Street Triple RS and 2016 Thruxton 1200 R and both are excellent bikes but I fell in love with the Thruxton R. So now I need one of those or possibly a Speed Twin.
07:50 You can get some carbon for the bike as well. Seen the ESL cover stick on cover done in carbon for the RS and will probably be available for the RR soon. Trying to remove that is a ball ache.
I really like the look of these, had a sit on one yesterday at a Triumph dealer. Took my Daytona in for service and MOT and the salesman was trying to get me to go out on a test ride. I was like mate it’s abit out of my price range unfortunately. Keep thinking about it though, I do REALLY like the look of them in red and black
You’ve highlighted the problem perfectly with this bike, it doesn’t have a defined target audience. Sales are slower than forecast according to my dealer and you can get £2k off if you haggle hard enough.
Completely agree. It kind of feels like a rich person’s track bike… but even then I though this rich person would have to have a few bikes in the garage already to get around to choosing it.
@@Bobby-wn5yr Yeah, if it was a rich persons only bike it has all the specs you'd expect of a track weapon. But it's unlikely you'd pick it over a more focused, fully faired option
It’s strange nobody mentions how similar the styling if the Triumph is to the Moto Guzzi V11 Le Mans. That was way ahead of the curve in the modern classic / retro trend.
I don't understand the cost comparison to the S1000RR. You can easily make the BMW cost more with options like the carbon pack and dynamic suspension, and the S1000RR just feels cheaper in terms of fit and finish (unless perhaps you spec the carbon and titanium exhaust for what, 5k more?). I rode the S1000RR around 500km last year, mostly a UK weekend rental but also some test rides in Switzerland. I prefer the Triumph, it feels lighter, narrower and more premium.
I love the looks of this bike although I can never see myself owning own for the reasons of comfort. I own a 2013 speed triple R which is perfect. On the subject of the Yamaha Nikon one went past my house yesterday the 1st I’ve seen on the road 😃
I agree Andy, if I wanted a sports bike I would buy a proper sports bike and if I wanted sporty comfort I would get a naked. Maybe I will be proven wrong but I don't really get this bike, particularly as they already have the retro cafe style Thruxton. Personally I would like to have seen Triumph make a new Daytona, maybe a 1000cc to take on the BMW S1000RR and others.
Not sure anyone else has commented but with regards to the indicators. I suspect you had them on auto advance mode. A quick prod and it only flashes about 3 or 4 times (for lane changes I guess) you have to hold the switch (left or right) a little longer for it to flash for longer and then it will turn off automatically depending on the conditions (time/distance/lean etc). You can change this feature in the settings. Hope this helps.
Looks beautiful but also looks very uncomfortable, don’t think I’d enjoy riding on but would like to have a play on one. Great video again keep up the good work.
I really love the fairing for the RR. As an RS owner I would have loved a RR version without clips. My hands re just noch happy with any kind of clip ons. I'm already looking for the first RR like conversions with RS hardware. Oh and even with the clip ons: If this bike would habe been available last October it still may could have ended in my garage. I'm definitely in the target group of this bike. Love the engine and already did some longer tours with the RS. Could possible hat the 10K this year alone wich would be a first for me. The usability of the offered power of this engine is something I just do not want to miss in the future.
Another great review, I think you're spot on regarding the bike. I believe Triumph should've made it like the old half faired Sprint RS with a more forgiving riding position and have the semi-active suspension as an option or a deluxe version. I don't think it is going to be a big seller, Total Triumph near me in Taunton are already doing them for £2k off!
Hi Andy, Hope your recovered from the covid.Triumph RR I agree with you it’s not so practical a bike , and I also with that money go for a S1000rr, Aprilia. I think the Rs standard speed triple has been ridiculed by nearly every test report for being tooo hard suspension, which isn’t fun on a long ride on roads. I believe if they fit the standard Speed Triple RS with Öhlins (Agreat Swedish Company 😂👍)they would sell by the shedload, as a better upright seating position and complient ride .Great blog cheers from Sweden 🇸🇪🏍👍🍻🍻
Really enjoyed today's video., but was full of many ifs. LOL. If I had a large warehouse, won the lottery, could shave 40 years off, no arthritis. Nothing turns heads like a retro sports bike. If only.!!! 👍👍🏍🏍🏍🙋♂️
Revisiting this Andy as, seriously considering the new street triple rs and with the necessary add ons realised I could afford a year old Speed rs, which to me is the perfect combination of sportsbike and gorgeous retro looks totally get it, and that wonderful 1200 engine.
@@TheMissendenFlyer had the test ride today and loved it, think it helps to be tall as the reach to the lower bars fine, will be buying this beauty this summer.😊
I can pick new old stock up for 12.5kGBP so it has me thinking of adding one. I have a 2017 R nineT with a fairing already and a 2023 ZH2 for high speed naked, although the power to weight ratio on this is better than the ZH2.
The issue with the indicator is that if you flick the Turn indicator it will go for 3 secs then turn off, you need to hold it longer to active it for 8 secs and same distance, i dont like how that have done that as it’s annoying to remember to hold it longer and then i find it doesn’t turn off fast enough.
It would be great if you rode this back to back with the Speed Triple RS.... I've had all the Speed Triples from the MKII and loved them all and they have been real fast ROAD bikes. All I hear about the new RS is its very choppy and track focused. But this RR I've heard is a better road bike. May be do as Daytona did in Ruislip (built the Speed Quattro all those years ago from the 1200 Daytona) and turn the RR into the RS...??? I'd be really interested in your thoughts on this??? Great video's as ever, keep um coming please.....
I sat on one of these 2 weeks ago next to the regular model. Its just simply not great at either market I was surprised how far forward it was for a naked despite having clip ons. The bike is beautiful & is one of the best looking bikes on the market today and looks alone would be why some people will still buy it. I think the easiest fix is to put handlebars back & make the position equal to the other Models & make the fairings work with it. I think if Triumph actually do it the bike will sell easily. Also for the suggestion box make a fully faired version with both the 765 & 1050 and bring back the Daytona name to the regular market.
After recently buying an old yellow Daytona with cow-horn handlebars and having to replace them with og clip-ons, I have to say that it is the clip-ons that affect the riding position, not the fairing. Mixing the two does make the bike look less sporty 'n all. I originally bought a brand new T509 Speed Triple (and then replaced it with Y2K 955i) and I had both those bikes fitted with Daytona clip-ons. The original T509 factory Speed Triple had clip-ons when they came out, as did the steel frame Mk 1 Bloor versions. If people bang on constantly about supposed comfort improvements then we'll all end up on ADVs. I do like the look of the new bike, thinking it brings the Speed Triple identity back to it's original format, but would avoid it because of EURO5.
The acid test will be sales and try as I might I can't find details on models sold for the RR. If its not the success hoped for then there's every reason to hope the better suspension makes it across to the RS. But, for me, I'd take an S version anyday, minus much of the electronics, I'd live with Showa suspension, lose keyless and quikshifter and 4 grand off the price of the RS .😁
Looks like a throwback to the late '90s "street sports", like the Suzuki TL1000S, Honda VTR1000F, BMW R1200S or Yamaha TRX 850. Can't think of another current example, although I guess the Ducati Supersport 950 probably isn't far off, despite the full fairing.
Ok, as a follower for some years I know you (and I love a Triumph I have owned, trophy SE, 1050 sport, 800 tiger, 1200 xca, speed rs, street rs, thruxton r…..yea I know happy memories indeed) garage is empty now. I’m coming back to 2 wheels…commute is just under 90 miles fast road 85%. I like the 900 tiger and feel comfy on the RS 1200 but do I ever love this RR. I could see days off spent on the RR and days off leaving the tiger in the garage. Your a biker, triumph fan and lived with them. If you a brew on and time id really appreciate you’re honest opinion for a purchase over the winter. Kindest regards (appreciate you have a life and busy man) Tris
I love this bike. Having owned three speed triples in the past, I love the all round ability of the bike while having a unique quality with the look and three cylinder engine. This addition is excellent for those wanting a slightly more sporty stance. It would be a dull world if all bikes where made to fit set categories. Those with the budget would buy this for fast A road riding and would maybe have a second bike for town work.
Interesting comment about the indicators, I tested a Tiger 660 the other day and had the same issue. Found I had to hold the switch across for a few seconds before it seemed to ‘latch’ the electronics…
Checking out that jogger 2.43😂 I love the look of the RR but bought the Trident for practicality reasons as I live in the Paris region and spend half the time filtering. After, the 18mph speed limit, a new law is coming in here to make all petrol bikes pay prohibitive prices to park anywhere. It looks like the end of biking here😪I might have to test ride a Zero as electric bikes can continue to park free. Love to hear your opinion if you've tested one or anything similar.
@@TheMissendenFlyer thanks Andy. Will check it out! 🤣 This is definitely the wrong area for bikers. Straight roads and stupid laws. Ride safe and keep up the good work
Re- your comment on the indicator switch, I have found with mine (RS) if you press a little too hard when going for the left indicator it cancels as you select it. Not the best piece of design...
😢covid I guess we are all going to get it eventually wish you a speedy recovery. Planning a trip to Europe next year with your pal at canary tours while visiting relatives in the uk. May play it safe and go with the Honda cb500x. This triumph would not be for me and the wife prefer the more comfortable adventure bike style.
Completely agree, it’s not one thing or another and sports bike wise S1000rr is the way I would go sports bike wise. I have a Superduke 1290r gen 3 2020 plate and love it but for the future S1000rr is the bike I will get. Coming 50 years of age this year I fancy a sport bike that’s comfortable and has all the luxuries although the seat will be changed for the standard as it’s a tad hard for longer rides. I guess in short the older gents sports bike who still feel 30
@@TheMissendenFlyer Have just heard Honda are discontinuing the Honda Goldwing !! This is due to the Euro emissions, thought I would let you know ahead of the game mate👍🏻👍🏻
It looks like the R9t racer revisited in a way. A similar recipe using a comfy naked bike as the donor and adding a retro fairing and clip ons. Ok so the BMW wasn't as modern or fast but it was cheaper and both suffer from the same issues. The Beemer got binned because it just didn't sell so the Triumph is likely to go the same way and anyone who's bought one will suffer heavy depreciation because it won't sell. So if you do fancy one get it on a PCP to edge your bets so you can just hand it back at the end of the term and walk away if the used value bombs.
@@TheMissendenFlyer You're correct of course but at the moment it could go either way so a PCP which many do anyway seems like a less risky option as by the time the 3 years is up the position would become clearer? So you'd have the optionwhether to hand it back or pay the balance and keep it.
Well I think you might be missing the point. I think it was supposed to be a capable race bike wrapped up in the more comfortable package. So I guess my question is..... is it more comfortable to ride than a supersport or full blown race bike?
It gave me a bit of knee ache but nothing I couldn't get used to. In contrast I found the S1000RR a bit wide on my hips. No back or wrist issues with either.
@@TheMissendenFlyer Yeah, OK. Very droll. Obviously what I meant was where is it mounted onto bike. Can't see any bracket arm on fender or frame. Forget it, no longer interested.
i kinda get you. i do think the speed triple is trying filling in the gap were the Daytona was ment to fill in the sport/supersport segment, and soo triumph decided to slap on some fairings on the speed triple and called it a day. its like what you said if you want a retro get a speed twin, if you want to geta sports bike get a proper sports bike. imo only kind people would go for it is the ones that does not like the bug eye version with an extra cost.
Love the look of the bike, but just way too expensive for me, shame that triumph don't make make a street triple RR or a trident RR might be more up my street.
flash in the pan me thinks... however when at my triumph dealer a discussion was happening between the sales guys and a couple clients they sold the 1200 speed triple, both have complaints how harsh the front end was and no matter how you soften or have it set up its unstable around the twisties when hit even the smallest bump, I tested one and felt exactly the same, now if they put this active suspension off the RR on the RS would make it a far far better bike and less feel like a track-focused naked which makes NO sense at all. After my 3 hour trial, the sales guy said you could change out the springs and a few have, my reply was "not on a bike I've just paid you over 15k for"
I considered buying one of these as it looks gorgeous in the flesh but just too hands down bum up for me. I'm not sold on the looks of the RS. So ended up buying an Aprilia Tuono V4 standard and saved over £3.5k.
While I like the idea and looks of this bike, it’s a little too pricey for what I like it for. I still appreciate Triumph producing it though and maybe my thoughts on it will change once they start hitting the second hand market.
Regarding the issue with the indicator switch. I've got a 2022 Tiger 850 Sport which I absolutely love with one exception: the indicator self cancelling kicks in with virtually any side to side movement. I'm forced to hold off switching them on till I'm certain the bike is perfectly straight! Pretty annoying for sure.
I think you're right. Triumph would have done better to simply upgrade the suspension & electronics on the existing Triple. As Yamaha did with the MT10 & their SP version. I think the competition has already beaten this bike, so it won't sell well.
Good work as usual ! I think the BMW would get my vote but i'm about £15000k away about having the funds coz my silly wife keeps buying worthless household goods ! She sends me to get a pint of Stella and I'm happy ! Keep sharing lol
I’ve just traded in my Thruxton RS for a Speed Triple RR. Looking to seeing what the fuss (positive and negative) is all about. I can’t imagine the riding position being much worse than the Thruxton mind. Just need to wrap it before it arrives before Christmas :-)
I guess it's like a unsalted/reduced fat sportsbike, not healthy for you as such, but healthier than full fat sportsbike. I think the new r7 (I ride a friends now and then) is a similar vein but at middleweight level. Can't deny as you say the rr looks the part. Sensible review 👍
Great bike, but costs way to much. I think Triumph will struggle with this one. Andy, Another great video. You should run a poll asking, How much would one spend on a bike like this? 0 - £10k £10k - £15k £15k or more Would be super interesting to know.
02:40 The advantages for running a clever camera lol - if you give a long agressive sounding beep, they turn around and you can check them out more easily. The voice of experience! Great review - It's over priced like all New Triumphs. It's £2,000 overpriced IMHO Covid? I never got it.

@@Yarrow54 BS!!!
@@ttrguy9952 yours been fine then?
@@Yarrow54 Mine's perfect! I know a ton of guys with the RS version and none of them have had any problems. Don't believe anything on the internet!!!
enjoyed that Andy! just done a Triumph RR track day today so perfect video timing. works brilliantly on track I loved it 👍
Yes well you're a hooligan! Question is would you buy one if it was your only bike??
I test rode one and fell in one with it. I found the riding position wasn’t as extreme as a dedicated sports bike, the brakes and suspension are phenomenal, power delivery perfect, and it just looks gorgeous. Trouble is I just can’t justify spending 18k on what would essentially be a toy! I also think that options such as tpms and heated grips should be standard at that price point.
Bought this fantastic motorcycle yesterday - will pick it up next week. Can't wait...!
Congratulations! Enjoy your new ride!
That’s brilliant Pete! Enjoy…and thanks for the update….
How is the steering? I’ve heard they’re kinda sluggish to change directions
That’s exactly why I bought it! Best of both worlds and the looks are stunning!
Glad you like it Kenn - ride safe!
Had mine 4 months, first two it ran like clockwork then two separate oil leaks, quickshifter failure, cooling fan failure & cold starting issues
Hay mate Paul from Australia, I comment on most of your vids and your actually one of my favourite utubers . Keep up the FANTASTIC work .
Hi Paul, thanks very much for your support whilst you keep watching I’ll keep making them - all the best.
Thanks for watching and stopping by as ever Tenere traveller, much appreciated.
I think I need one of these in my life!
Well Andy I'm also a Triumph fan boy like you but I must agree I can't see them selling many of these. Nice review as always 👍
Thanks for watching!
They really need to make a Speed Triple with the round headlight , fairing and trick electronic suspension from the RR , with upright handlebars from the RS.
(edit : and you pretty much said that towards the end of the video . I should wait until I've finished watching before commenting !)
I could be interested in a Speed Triple like that, assuming I could afford it.
I agree with your summary. Hence probably a limited run special. Glad you're on the mend sir.
Cheers Nick - I’m right as rain now, I filmed this a few months back….
Yes a few have mentioned that Suzuki Rob - well spotted...and thanks for dropping by at last!
Looks awesome, rides decent but too uncomfortable - prefer the RS overall, just wish it had the same suspension!
Big chance the 2023 RS will get the same suspension and seperate wheelie/traction control like all the other hyper nakeds.
@@tubejorrit Lets hope so! Are you listening Triumph!
thanks for the review.
Sorry about that - would be untrue if I pretended to like a bike I didn’t. It does look beautiful but was torture to ride! Good luck with it….
how do you like it so far?
Well, the Ducati Supersport falls into the same category and it doesn’t sell too badly.
Good honest review. Looks stunning but too expensive.
I agree. I'd like the fairing and round light, plus trick suspension, but with upright / flat handlebars.
Yes I'm 100% with you....we shall see!
You've confirmed everything I said about the market for this bike, good honest review 👌
Glad we concur!
I see alot of bikes that I like but would never want own. This is one of them.
Thanks for a good summary. I agree that it fills a very, very small niche.
Triumph should create a comfy sport tourer like the VFR of old using the Speed as a base. No need for Ohlins just the Stylema brakes and they will sell bucket loads.
They did, I owned one for a number of years, did touring, track days and ride outs. Brilliant bike.
Exactly!
They look wonderful but i am far too old for my creaky bones buying something with a seating position like that, the bike you saw on your travels was a Suzuki 750 GT water cooled, a absolute legend of a machine!!
Yes a few have told me that, well spotted!
I see this bike as a way of being more individual. Might not see many about, but that can be a nice thing as an owner.
True....
My old Super Duke had a micro switch indicator switch and it was touch and go if it worked
Yes it’s sad but comfort when riding really does count for a lot doesn’t it!
Well finished, could be a good Sunday blaster, but I agree. Not enough cache to make me buy one
Another beautiful bike from Triumph, Great to see the reviews of the bikes you test ride,
I'm not in the market for a new bike but the cost would put me off and the fact that I can no longer ride anything with a sports bike riding position ,Not that I have ever owned a sports bike or had the desire for one have tried a few out years ago wasn't for me , , I like the more upright touring bikes ,
It is so much better looking than the BMW, and you are not going to ride either bike to it's limit on the road. So I'd chose the RR every time.
The bmw looks miles better than this thing
@@Andryk_QV that's an interesting point of view.
Yeah, cheap plastic BMW vs carbon fibre on the Triumph, the paint finish is far better too (stickers on the S1000RR M Package).
They’re both RR bikes.
@@adamschannel8685 that's true.
Excellent bonus video Andy 👌, enjoyed watching. 😉🙏
Thank as ever Iain!
It’s a beautiful bike but it’s hard to make a case for it over the standard speed triple for me.
Yes me too….
Bit of a stretch that. Yes they both have half fairings but that’s about it. Both undeniably lovely bikes though.
Fair enough! Thanks for watching!
I love the looks of this bike although I can never see myself owning own for the reasons of comfort. I own a 2013 speed triple R which is perfect. On the subject of the Yamaha Nikon one went past my house yesterday the 1st I’ve seen on the road 😃
Well spotted!
Yes a few have mentioned that!
Axel have you seen any conversions with RS top yoke/triple clamps, or bar risers of any sort ? Thanks from US.
@@ryanpatrick4813 no sadly I haven’t seen any viable conversion.
I think this with straight bars would be perfect!
Yes I can see this going the way of the Dodo sadly…
Cheers Philip!
Always enjoy your Vlogs, with all the views of the beautiful countryside 👱♀️….. 😉👍!
Thanks for watching - much appreciated!
The riding position rules it out for me and I would never pay 18 grand for a motorcycle, plenty of nice bikes available for much less than that.
Meant RR 😆
Defo test ride one at length first - an incredibly uncomfortable bike to ride….but great to look at!
@@TheMissendenFlyer Cheers Andy, yes would definitely need to test ride, not after a back breaking bike at my age lol.

Hmm What a concept... Retro racer. 🤔 90's Bikes... Can't wait for that. 😊
I like the bike, but as you've said... I feel there are better alternatives in whatever you want from a bike.
I can sympathise with your shoulders Andy.....I've got arthritis in both mine....bloody painful!
Tell me about it!
But it’s not a naked, is it ?
@@magaudion Its mostly naked. Only the top portions are covered but the buisness area being the engine is exposed. Mainly for the styling.
Too uncomfortable for 90 miles….look elsewhere!
Yes I’ve not noticed it before but a few in the comments have said the same…odd!
Yes I have ridden a zero (and fallen off one!) - checkout my review on here somewhere.....I love France, but not so sure I like their biking lawas!!

Re- your comment on the indicator switch, I have found with mine (RS) if you press a little too hard when going for the left indicator it cancels as you select it. Not the best piece of design...

Have just heard Honda are discontinuing the Honda Goldwing !!
This is due to the Euro emissions, thought I would let you know ahead of the game mate👍🏻👍🏻
As usual great video. :)
On the other hand it might just turn out to be a great investment!
@@TheMissendenFlyer You're correct of course but at the moment it could go either way so a PCP which many do anyway seems like a less risky option as by the time the 3 years is up the position would become clearer? So you'd have the optionwhether to hand it back or pay the balance and keep it.
I'd have a go on it, but I'm strictly standard bikes for posture.
Well I think you might be missing the point. I think it was supposed to be a capable race bike wrapped up in the more comfortable package. So I guess my question is..... is it more comfortable to ride than a supersport or full blown race bike?
Maybe a little but not much - it’s basically a sportsbike pisition, more GSXR or S1000RR than Panigale in terms of comfort.
It gave me a bit of knee ache but nothing I couldn't get used to. In contrast I found the S1000RR a bit wide on my hips. No back or wrist issues with either.
I'm curious. Where is camera mounted for your views from the back right?
Funnily enough - back right!
Great looking bike Andy. I think the comfort issue would keep me off of one. It is sexy though!
flash in the pan me thinks... however when at my triumph dealer a discussion was happening between the sales guys and a couple clients they sold the 1200 speed triple, both have complaints how harsh the front end was and no matter how you soften or have it set up its unstable around the twisties when hit even the smallest bump, I tested one and felt exactly the same, now if they put this active suspension off the RR on the RS would make it a far far better bike and less feel like a track-focused naked which makes NO sense at all. After my 3 hour trial, the sales guy said you could change out the springs and a few have, my reply was "not on a bike I've just paid you over 15k for"
Going through the 30 speed camera at 32, I see you like to live dangerously.
I considered buying one of these as it looks gorgeous in the flesh but just too hands down bum up for me. I'm not sold on the looks of the RS. So ended up buying an Aprilia Tuono V4 standard and saved over £3.5k.
Ooh nice one….good call
Don’t know why they didn’t just put the updated suspension on the standard bike 🤷🏼♂️
For sure, i would happily swop back from my RR to the RS
While I like the idea and looks of this bike, it’s a little too pricey for what I like it for.
I still appreciate Triumph producing it though and maybe my thoughts on it will change once they start hitting the second hand market.
Regarding the issue with the indicator switch. I've got a 2022 Tiger 850 Sport which I absolutely love with one exception: the indicator self cancelling kicks in with virtually any side to side movement. I'm forced to hold off switching them on till I'm certain the bike is perfectly straight! Pretty annoying for sure.
Yes those self cancelling systems can be annoying!
I think you're right. Triumph would have done better to simply upgrade the suspension & electronics on the existing Triple. As Yamaha did with the MT10 & their SP version.
I think the competition has already beaten this bike, so it won't sell well.
Sadly I think you may be right....
Andy,
Another great video.
You should run a poll asking, How much would one spend on a bike like this?
0 - £10k
£10k - £15k
£15k or more
Would be super interesting to know.
Yes good plan!
02:40 The advantages for running a clever camera lol - if you give a long agressive sounding beep, they turn around and you can check them out more easily. The voice of experience!
Great review - It's over priced like all New Triumphs. It's £2,000 overpriced IMHO
Covid? I never got it.
Thanks for the tip! Slowing down probably also helps......
