Lack of improvement can be a frustrating place to be in. But what I've noticed over the past 4 years is that people who are lacking in improvement lack a significant amount of knowledge and philosophical understanding of the sport. When I say "let go!", I don't just mean physically!

Looser grip also helps prevent wrist, elbow, and shoulder injuries.

Brilliant breakdown! Sometimes amazing players have no idea what they are doing, much less how to break it down.

Hi, a little confusion here; are you telling me not to lob the ball over and behind my opponent? Is this what you are referring to as pop-up's, and should I avoid the lob over their heads? It seems to be my best shot and the opposing team hates it...help me out with this confusion. I am a relatively new player, and I truly appreciate your help.

Hey Evie, no problem! A pop-up is a shot that you make where the ball goes up high so that your opponent can smash it back over. Pop-ups almost always lead to a loss of the point and can be very, very frustrating. What you're referring to is indeed the lob and they can be very, very effective. Great job!

I am frustrating that my pickle ball is not improving. It’s even getting a little worse. I’m not good at top spin or backspin I prefer to just hit the ball flat. Is that a bad idea? When I charge the net sometimes players like to try to pop it over my head. Is that sign of a good player? Sometimes on a serve people hit the ball short and it’s hard for me to get it but if I run up the hill at hard and I have to go back. What am I doing wrong? I saw you had a shirt from Plano Texas. Is that where you’re from?

      Ronald:
How often do you play and how long have you been playing?
Nothing wrong with a flat shot. The game allows for finesse and deception.
Remember, 95% of the game is played at the NVZ.
Work on dink shots and opportunities to hit winners.
Don't worry about the lobs/overheads, I'd be willing to bet that 50% or less land IN!
Keep playing and you'll improve as long as you're physically ok to get about the court..

      Your endurance will improve.
You'll probably drop a few lbs.
I'm over 6' and over 245 n never felt better.
I've never been to Texas or worn a shirt like that but that's no problem...

You also have to know your partner in doubles and pay attention to their return or third shot. If you transition to the line (or you are already at the line) and your partner returns the ball a little too high you need to get back or you're a sitting duck.

Suggestion....place painters tape on the boundaries of the camera coverage. Stay within the tape to ensure you stay within the frame of the camera. Also pan the camera out so it shows not only the paddle stroke but also where the balls lands

It’s a cross between tennis & ping pong kinda played on a court with a wiffle ball and a paddle some bigger than a ping pong paddle. Super fun once you get past beginner phase!
