Scott, for next Fire Red runs, you can get into some extra tips: - You might want to hack the game to have the pokedex complete, so you can get the rewards for capturing pokemon, which are more interesting these time. This will also allow to make you go into the postgame, so you could technically try to beat the league's harder version, which is unlocked at the end of postgame now. - The hidden items work different in FRLG, itemfinder now materializes some items somehow, if you don't use the item finder it won't find the hidden item. For example, if you use the itemfinder on the spot snorlax was after defeating it, you get a Leftovers. So yeah itenfinder in FRLG is required to get some items.
Also, if you don't already since this run turn text speed to Fast at the beginning of the game so you don't have to mash buttons to make the chitchat faster.
I feel like giving yourself the entire pokedex for itemfinder is a bit cheaty, but it may overall be better for the sake of solo runs. I feel like it's important to keep the game as vanilla as possible (other than modifying your starter, obviously)

The wrapping lass is named Alicia because she *leashes* your pokemon. Edit: for future videos, I think you should include the e4 rematches. Bruno's two steelix can wall and hit hard, Agatha's crobat will outspeed nearly everything, Lance's kingdra is a kingdra, and Butt's permanent sandstorm can whittle down anything without recovery. Butt2.0 is the *true* final boss, standing next to Oak, Red, and Steven from the other games
I’m surprised you never used Giga Drain. It’s only 60 BP but I feel like it’s definitely one of the best special moves that Butterfree can learn besides Psychic. I actually have only ever done one solo playthrough before, which was Butterfree in LeafGreen. Giga Drain, Sleep Powder, Psychic, & Silver wind was my final move set. Giga Drain & Sleep Powder were the MVPs of the run. Also, Happy Christmas! ❄️
@@toxicperson8936 Also, Grass just isn't the best type offensively, and 60 base power is very underwhelming. Dream Eater's power was actually a meaningful upgrade over Psychic, so Giga Drain would've been such a big downgrade. With a 97.5%-accurate Sleep Powder, Dream Eater was definitely the superior choice.
@@KeitaroHirochi On top of that, other than opposing Psychic types and the occasional Magneton, there's no other Pokemon that can resist Psychic moves.
Yo, Butterfree learns that Thief TM in the early game, which can help against Misty AND steal a Twistedspoon from wild Abra! I'm sure this was a TON of work, so hat's off to you for pulling it off. Merry Christmas!
You can also get dream eater when you get to vermillion. Digletts cave isnt long and you dont have to worry about arena trap. Sleep powder is super accurate with compound eyes. 100 base power and it heals. Giga drain for coverage
Wanted to tell him exactly the same thing. Thanks for doing it already :) Also Thief uses the better attacking stat and has 100% accuracy, compared to Tackle's 95%
Ooh, are we doing game tips in this thread? Here's another one: Return can be found in the gatehouse south of Lavender, where you would get Swift in RBY. You can access this immediately before heading to Celadon, which is a very nice power boost. (An RBY runner wouldn't think to go that way since so few mons use Swift anyway.)
Having to do Christmas solo this year because my family is sick, wasn’t expecting many uploads from my favorite channels because of the holidays so this is a wonderful surprise. Thanks Scott, have really enjoyed everything you’ve released this year!

38:53 To answer your question, Wugtrio is based on the Garden Eel. They’re colorful eels that bury themselves in the ground and just kind of bite at whatever food comes near them. A few other games where they recently appeared are Monster Hunter World and Genshin Impact.
Great, I really like this game. The different abilities make the pokemon just a little bit more different and the challenges more divers. I wasn't sure if you would include the remakes, so I'm glad you do (especially because HG/SS are probably my favorite main series games)
50k, and before 2023. Incredible, Scott. A testament to your hardwork, and it's great to see you get into FireRed. Hope the success continues from here on out, as well.
Hey Scott, the remakes of gen 1 are my favourite versions of Pokémon! I can’t wait to see more of these beauties 😁 Thank you for your continued hard work on making this enjoyable content every week 💚
He... Doesn't though? They do kind of different comparison between pokemon, one thinks that first playthrough is the best way to compare pokemon and uses the in-game time (better option in my opinion), the other does multiple playthroughs to master using a pokemon and prefers real time. Also their playstyles are totally different. Jrose goes for consistency, while scott goes for best results
I have to believe that this is Ash’s Butterfree, that just recently returned to him. Love this gen and Pokémon. Cracking Christmas! Loving the 3 stage play through.
Hey, come on, don’t bring up Ash reuniting with Butterfree, you’re making me cry… it was so beautiful, he met Butterfree and his (presumably his, I’m pretty sure that the pink colouration was “because girl”) mate. I really hope that they either leave the door open or that his VA wanted to move on to get back to other stuff, but at least they didn’t do Ash dirty. Hopefully in the upcoming miniseries he reunites with Pidgeot, and maybe even gets Primeape back and evolves it. If they do that stuff it’s possible I’ll even cry more than seeing the Butterfree scene. Took me right back to being 8 or 9 or whatever as when I first saw it. Kinda wondering how many kids saw it like “what’s that Pokémon, and why is it important that Satoshi met it?”. LOL
And now I’m realising that Primeape is far more likely because it got a new evolution just now, and because the writers likely don’t care about Pidgeot… honestly, I don’t blame them, it was so bad in Ash’s team. All the writers were either involved in that decision or are bound and influenced by it. May as well assume that Pidgeot’s dead, for all the difference it’ll make. Oh boy, depressed myself.
I was really happy to see that Primape got some love in Gen9. But I’m a GenOner, so I have a huge soft spot for all, well most of the original gen1, expect jynx and Mr. mime 😅. I heard that Ash, when on Lugia in the most recent ep, had a ‘moment with the lead pidgeot’ when passing a flock of pidgeot. And similar with a Lapras. I think that’s all we’ll get. I thought that a regional or mega pidgeot should have got the fairy typing.
Happy Holidays, and thanks for the daily content. I love that you’re using Butterfree as the way to introduce new games in the series! For future runs with mons like Butterfree that don’t want to be statused, Substitute is available as a Tutor Move in Fuchsia City.
Merry Christmas Scott. In surges gym you need to use the save/reload technique for Serge's gym. Once you find the first switch then save and you can load and try the second again
I cant wait to see you play the remakes more often. I love them. Ive played red and fire red multiple times over the years. And while i like the og games. The QoL updates to fire red make it superior in the experience of playing. Especially since im not conditioned to the new modern games
If you ever do a FRLG run again, and try to use a Johto or Hoenn Pokemon, you kinda *have* to hack the National Dex in - Game Freak coded in a mechanic where, if you don't have the National Dex, trying to evolve into a non-Kanto Pokemon will automatically cancel the evolution (which is kinda silly, considering Golbat and Chansey both evolve via friendship, so this can happen by complete accident with those two).
This was cool. I do think there's value to rating an evolution line of a Pokémon, since that's how they're intended to be played, but as a separate thing to rating each form separately. And as it's not as interesting as multiple playthroughs with each form it makes sense to leave it for the future and special occasions. PS: A super interesting playthrough would be Emerald with a Nincada, but you allow it to evolve and play with both Ninjask and Shedinja for the rest of the game. It would be the only possible legit solo challenge with two pokemon and it'd be cool to see them complement eachother in normal and double battles.
So a little thing about Fire Red/Leaf Green, underneath both Snorlax's are a Leftovers item... *If* you have the itemfinder. Like it explicitly requires the item-finder (not sure if any other hidden items do or not). It may be a good idea to try to put together a list of roughly 29 pokemon that are relatively easily obtainable (as you need to have caught 30 pokemon to get the itemfinder) so that a pokemon that needs the leftovers can choose to put in a time-sink to get it, similar to your Gen 1 Rocket Hideout/Hyper Beam timesinks that pokemon would sometimes have. Just a thought! Edit: As for the bonus portion, it'd be fun to see sometimes but having fought it in a solo run of my own I really don't think it's going to be worth the time for a lot of pokemon. I think that it'd be good to play it by ear, maybe start off trying it once or twice with a few legendary/mythical pokemon to get a feeling for how much time getting the ruby and sapphire for it involves, and from there just add it as an extra for any pokemon that feels like they'd be fun for a bit of an extra challenge. Maybe it could be something like in vs videos the winner of the race goes up against the elite 4 rematch or something?
Awesome to see FRLG. I love the remakes of Gen 1 and Gen 2. You mentioned the E4 having rebattles, maybe save that for whatever runs end up being "S" tier. It's like bonus content for only the fastest of contenders since they should have a reasonable time doing the rebattles.
I'm so glad you finally made it to FRLG. You first inspired me to try solo challenges myself and I have settled on FireRed! I deeply admire your passion and excitement for gen 1 which make your videos an absolute treat and it's really cool to see you familiarise yourself with a game I know really well myself for once
For future FRLG solos, definitely look into the move tutors. For example, the karate guys outside of the Mt. Moon exit teach you Mega Punch and Mega Kick, and there’s a Youngster in Rock Tunnel who teaches Rock Slide, as well as one in Fuchsia City who teaches Substitute.
Early Fire Stones are available in the Johto games. The Schoolkid with the Tangela just before the Sudowoodo can be registered to your Pokégear, and will sometimes call saying he picked something up that he thinks you will like. If you go back to him after he calls and says that, he'll give you a Fire Stone. Leaf Stones can also be gotten the same way from the Picnicker by the Day-Care Couple; Water Stones from the Fisherman with the Qwilfish on the Mahogany Town side of Mt. Mortar. I believe Lass Dana (with the Fflaffy and/or Psyduck, depending on the game) gives Thunder Stones on the route between Ecruteak and the Farm with the Mint Berry and hidden Nugget.
@@TheDarkFiddler It's pretty consistent. I did a Crystal nuzlocke, (beat Lance, then considered it a successful run because I was just bored with Kanto at the time) and only registered the trainers that give gifts, like the stone trainers and Bug Catcher Wade (berries). By the time I reached Claire I had at least two of each evolution stone; more specifically I had like 5 Fire Stones, 3 each of Leaf Stones and Water Stones, and 2 Thunder Stones.
Whichever you choose to celebrate today. Happy Hanukkah, happy Kwanzaa, Merry Christmas, and from me and mine Happy Yule! Love your videos Scott Can't wait to see the Kecleon solo run!
Ideas from someone who's been doing FireRed solo runs: One thing that I suggest for better consistency (to only need to catch one pokemon) is catching a Spearow instead of Paras/Pidgey, and then trading it for a Farfetch'd in Vermilion City. This does activate the trade animation, but it feels generally faster to me to only have to search and catch one pokemon, as well as only needing one for HMs. Also, catching Paras could be somewhat annoying with statuses (Effect Spore); you could mitigate this, but it feels like it could be a headache in the wrong circumstance. For the Surge puzzle, I typically just pause my timer after fighting the trainers and solve the puzzle. It doesn't account for IGT, so it's better if you can solve it with software, but just in case you experienced difficulty with that. The Sevii Islands will likely be useful for some pokemon that really need to fight the most amount of trainers, and get every Rare Candy possible. There is one additional RC in Cape Brink on Two Island. Most pokemon will just want to skip this though; it's really just for the most difficult pokemon. You one hit the first Dragonair against Lance with Psychic, so why put the second one to sleep? (if you know this in advance, you would put neither to sleep, but I'd understand putting the first one to sleep if you didn't know that already) Important TMs that would be useful here: -Someone mentioned Thief in Mt. Moon already (highly recommend picking this up for those that can learn it; unless they already have 2+ good moves, this is almost always a good thing to take if it can be learned. It is better power against Misty as well, in this case. -Another one is Secret Power, as it is available early in the game (the trainer near the Cut tree on Route 25), and it is usually a great physical option for most of the game because it has a 30% chance to paralyze; essentially Body Slam but available for all pokemon. It would've been doubly effective compared to Tackle for Butterfree against Misty, just in terms of base power. In this case, sleep powder might be generally better (since you already outsped anyway, for one), but generally it's a great option especially for Misty for attackers without a status move. You can also learn it multiple times from the Department Store if you ever wanted to unlearn it and relearn it. -Aerial Ace is available on Route 9, which may or may not have been something you actually wanted here (so maybe you knew about it and ignored it) but it certainly would've been a direct upgrade to Gust. Like, it's the same effective power as Psychic against Erika except Psychic gets the better special attack, so it might've just been pointless. You used Gust against Lorelei originally, where you'd want Aerial Ace instead, but maybe you wanted Psychic/Dream Eater/Silver Wind/Sleep Powder in the end anyways. Random opinions: Marowak "glitch" is an oversight, not a glitch! They fixed the oversight. :) Fire Blast being Blaine's TM is fine because I'd rather Flamethrower be buyable than being one-use from Blaine, lol It might be cool to see the second round of Elite Four, however there are a couple of issues with it. One, you have to decide how to access it, and if you complete the extended postgame. There is some (I would say) annoying sidequest required beforehand, and you also need to have 60 caught in the pokedex. You could just skip right to it, but then you have a question of how to handle the level curve, since it's going to be more difficult. I also think the elite four second round is a bit samey; they just add a Johto pokemon or two to their team but it's otherwise pretty similar, just at a higher level.
Once your more comfortable with FireRed/LeafGreen and all your normal functions are functional for this generation, you should really redo the VS for the Hitmons. With this Gen, there are so many changes that would make it a significantly closer matchup. Just a thought for the future. Good month Scott. Content was fantastic 👍 Merry Christmas.
In this case, both of them start with Fighting STAB (I believe it's Revenge?). Since Hitmonchan has Comet Punch for Bugs, he actually comes out ahead of Hitmonlee early, who's stuck with two Fighting moves.
@@thereaversden6847 At least they don't have to play the torture that is Gen 1 Agatha now that they can hit the Ghosts with something other than Normal and Fighting moves in form of Rock Slide. Earthquake is actually useless against Agatha in Gen 3 with the Ghosts having Levitate.
17:42 - yeah, Compound Eyes is functionally a +1 to accuracy, since it applies even to 100 accuracy moves, so you would have to get to -2 accuracy (functionally -1 after compoundeyes) to start being heavily impacted by reduction, which is nice.
Congrats to 50k subscribers. Glad to have been here since much earlier :) looking forward to seeing your future videos. May 2023 only bring good tidings to you.
I'm really happy that you are doing some Gen 1 remakes runs because those are the games that i am currently playing obsessively, so i can play along with this on one half of the screen and my run on the other half.
Another great video, Scott! Love seeing you add another game to the list. I really liked you leaning into the Compound Eyes/Sleep Powder into Dream Eater combo. It feels a bit broken, but like with your Double Team rule, if it is naturally a part of a Pokemon's skillset, it's fair game. I agree that having the 2nd Elite Four matchup as bonus fights would be a fun thing to do for FR/LG playthroughs. Lastly, thank you so much for the daily content this month, it has been a long month for me, but to be able to relax and watch a new video of yours each night has made my days better. It must have been alot of work, so I wanted you to know we all appreciate it!
Supporting you for close to a year now, it's insane how much your video's improved. Thanks so much for all the video's, watched all of them except some streams.
Finally time for Fire Red and Leaf Green! Now that I’m getting caught back up, I’m excited for what Christmas will bring *this* year! I like the method for handling evolutions that you settled on! I think it’s the best way to do it!
Thank you for the explanation on the evolution thing in the beginning. I always wondered why people who do solo challenges don't usually do evolution line runs.
It's because that's a dumb idea, these challenges are all theoretical in nature, so obviously you would use the pokemon you want. Watch Jrose11 bc this guy sucks
I haven't commented on every video you uploaded this month, but I want you to know I watched and enjoyed them all and they definitely made a very stressful month much more bearable. I randomly decided to draw a bunch of cards for everybody and was like, "What did I get myself into?" I had a long video every day (actually 2 since I watch jrose as well) to look forward to while working on my Christmas projects. Perfect timing! You definitely deserve a break, I love the details in the overlay (is that the right word? I am so out of it right now lol). Anyway, excellent work and thank you! Here's to an awesome 2023! I hope you do the bonus Elite Four in later FrLg runs. I don't think it should count towards the Pokémon's score (it's kind of like multiple Red/ Steven fights), but it'd be very interesting to see. I was going to say the Sevii Islands too, but I understand wanting to skip them (especially the ones before the League... kind of a slog imo. Plus I'd hate for you to have to stick to the Sevii Islands if you don't like them and have to do them every time). Butterfree is fun to use. Idk, it's basically a pseudo Psychic type. Glad they finally gave it Dream Eater and usable STAB in gen 3.
I played the Gen 1 remakes for the first time in well over a decade last year when I got my GBA Everdrive. This allowed me to trade with my old Fire Red and Emerald cartridges in order to get a busted Starmie. I haven't touched the Everdrive since the cartridge told me the battery was already low several months after I got it. Anyways, here's rooting for yet another great run. Merry Christmas Scott and Team!
Thank you so much for another vid scott...i really needed one. My kid left last night to go be w her mom and i was invited to spend xmas w my friends parents since my parents are a whole state away. I also caught the flu from my kid so today is quite literally the worst xmas ever for me. I love you man never stop
Just wanted to thank you for helping to get me into solo challenges. I'm not tech savvy at all, but your vids finally motivated me to get a randomizer and try it this weekend. Now I'm playing Crystal with Porygon 2, which I never had as a kid because I had no trade partner. It's a blast. Merry Christmas!
Hey Scott! Long time watcher first time commenter. You can get stones early on in gen 2 by the trainer calls. Get the list of routes, get only the numbers necessary, get fly, talk to your mom about daylight savings time. Worked first time for me with all three 😊 hope this helps dawg
Merry Christmas Scott! You are the man for all of these daily uploads. You are definitely my favorite Pokétuber, and I look forward to what you bring in 2023.
Scott, you ABSOLUTELY should give a round one and round 2 time. Some Pokémon do really well on the late game and some in the early, this would be something good to measure!
hint: the two blackbelt looking guys at 10:45 (Cerulean Mount Moon) are the Mega Punch/Kick Tutors, which isn't relevant for Butterfree, but will be for other pokemon also curious to see how the leaderboard for FRLG stacks up to the Yellow leaderboard, as it's the same region and not there in the video yet, but Sevii?
I love using Butterfree in games like FireRed and try to take it as far as I can, but usually end up having to drop it by the E4 so I really enjoy seeing you use it in challenges like this!
Ahhhh! Yes finally!! I've been doing monotype nuzlocks in frlg for years now, done normal, water, grass, fire, flying, bug and poison, I've found it to be a decent challenge with 5 or 6 mons, it's amazing seeing how it is possible to do everything with one pokemon, it's great, you're great 🤣
Merry Xmas Scott. Love the vid and love that you have finally started on doing fire Red and Leaf Green runs, once you get used to them, you'll love them, it is my Home game and where I have done my only solo challenges including Butterfree only. I have notes you may find helpful. 1st there are vids showing the locations of all the Rare Candies (14 in total) and all hidden items in Fire Red, look at them, you'll need them for the many items including PP UPs and a PP Max. 2nd Meowth is a legit HM friend and user of pickup. I know you avoid pickup ability, but HP shouldn't be ignored in Fire Red, Butterfree will benefit from some that makes use of its special attack for coverage, electric or fire is good. 3rd, Giga Drain (with PP Ups) or Solar Beam is very helpful in the league and sometimes for recovery. I have more but this comment is long enough, I love your work, I look forward to the next years vids
I think your decision on how to deal with evolving Pokémon is the correct one… I personally just prefer it like that, but your explanation was conclusive too. Happy Christmas :)
Brick break is one of my favourite moves, it probably would count as a signature move of mine. The ability to break screens isn’t always used but it’s darn good, maybe a little less useful in a solo playthrough because a huge chunk of the screen setters resist fighting but hey useful. It’s nice to have fire red and leaf green played so close to red blue yellow so we can see some actual differences. Theres move tutors across the map, i know in rock tunnel you can get rock slide I think the game corner tms are fairly similar to emerald mainly the 95 power elemental moves Thanks for so much content over this month
Thanks for all the videos, Scott. I would love to see the elite four rematches, but I understand if it's too much work. I also used dream eater butterfree when I played fire red. Compound eyes makes butterfree an amazing pokemon for the entirety of the game which is nice since I almost always used butterfree as a little kid, but it wasn't that good in the gen 1 late game.
As was said already, itemfinder is necessary in these games because they materialize some hidden items like leftovers under snorlax. Also the lumps on the floor like you found where the tree used to be? Those have berries. Only way to get 'em too so keep an eye out for 'em. They usually are where hidden items used to be like outside mount moon for example. The trashcans in the kitchen in SS Anne actually all have berries too. No more great ball. Trash berries instead! The game corner now has great TMs so keep that in mind. I believe it has all the 95 elemental beams if memory serves me right, its been a hot minute since I played it myself. And congrats! 50K and upwards! Mythical time!
Merry Christmas Scott! These daily uploads were a blast! Edit: Had a tip for leftovers here, but I went back and checked and turned out I was wrong lol... Sorry : P
Great video! I highly recommend not doing the rematch tour. Chaotic meatball, whom I loved, tried doing it and it completely wore him out. After about fifteen runs, he stopped, and switched to just round one... but by then the extra slog had completely sapped his energy and he ended up not continuing with the series at all. We can't risk that happening with you.
You've certainly spoiled us Scott. I loved having the constant content, but I know that's not really sustainable. Really looking forward to this week's upload to conclude a wonderful year of content!
I totally agree that doing evolutions makes it hard to rank on a singular specific tier list. You could possibly also create a species tier list would be interesting to compare and contrast how the Pokémon’s growth affects the times presented. As say a third video after you have done the optimised run for each stage. Would also give interesting decisions as ‘when should I level up’ when earlier stages learn some moves earlier etc. Also loving the content cheers for a fun December!
Thanks for the daily videos, they've been a blast! Giga Drain would have saved you a lot of aggro against Bruno! Also the Aerial Ace TM is below the wrapping lass, not sure it would have made much difference though.
You should definitely try the postgame as part of your playthroughs, because there’s an entire plot line and a league rematch would be cool to see. Congratulations on the 50K!
Hi Scott! Congrats to 50k subscribers! Since you asked, I'd really like if you included the E4 rematches. They can get quite tough, so I think that some of the weaker Pokemon could not even beat them at lvl 100. Could be interesting to see! Keep rockin' dude! Your videos are awesome, I am astonished how much effort you put into them! Oh and Happy Holidays to you and all your loved ones!
Enjoyed the full month of content... hope you enjoyed the time, as well! You've become one of my favorite creators on YT, and I'm looking forward to next year's content! Happy Holidays to you and your fiancé!
Thanks for the month of Scott! I, too, got stuck in the Sevii island as a kid. If you do more FRLG please do the league rebattles! I miss the Oak battle at the end of the gen 1 videos, too.
Scott, for next Fire Red runs, you can get into some extra tips:
- You might want to hack the game to have the pokedex complete, so you can get the rewards for capturing pokemon, which are more interesting these time. This will also allow to make you go into the postgame, so you could technically try to beat the league's harder version, which is unlocked at the end of postgame now.

I'll jump in to second that I'd like to see the "hard e4" as the end goal/post credits special.
I feel like giving yourself the entire pokedex for itemfinder is a bit cheaty, but it may overall be better for the sake of solo runs. I feel like it's important to keep the game as vanilla as possible (other than modifying your starter, obviously)
Thirded on the R2 Elite Four as the end game time. They're far more interesting battles and a decent equivalent of Red/Steven fights.
I think R2 E4 will be impossible for some pokemon

Also Thief uses the better attacking stat and has 100% accuracy, compared to Tackle's 95%
Also can make it easy to steal items from wild pokemon, which considering compound eyes boosts the rate of wild pokemon having items.
@@mmburp in this case the accuracy doesn't matter because compound eyes makes tackle always hit anyways.
Fire Red was my very first game as a kid so this is incredibly nostalgic.
Having to do Christmas solo this year because my family is sick, wasn’t expecting many uploads from my favorite channels because of the holidays so this is a wonderful surprise. Thanks Scott, have really enjoyed everything you’ve released this year!
Hope you have a Merry Christmas man! Done the solo Christmas before, so glad your favorite channels got some videos for you today!
Merry Christmas bro, hope although the situation is not ideal you’ve managed a good day
Happy Freeza Day. I hope your family gets well soon.
You should really say a holiday miracle... Not everyone celebrates Christmas and your arrogance is showing dude. You have to be better next time, be assured I sent a complaint to UA-cam overthis blatant xenophobia.
Your solitude this holiday season is God punishing you
38:53 To answer your question, Wugtrio is based on the Garden Eel.
Merry Christmas Scott. Been a heck of a month with a lot of good videos. truly enjoy them. hope you keep the content up.
50k, and before 2023. Incredible, Scott. A testament to your hardwork, and it's great to see you get into FireRed. Hope the success continues from here on out, as well.
Thanks so much!
Hey Scott, the remakes of gen 1 are my favourite versions of Pokémon! I can’t wait to see more of these beauties 😁
Thank you for your continued hard work on making this enjoyable content every week 💚
Cool to see FRLG!
Also totally agreed, ranking each evolution stage separately would be better.
He copies Jrose so dang much that I'm suprised he hasn't copied him on this as well.
Id really love to see the replays with the league members as a bonus, its fun seeing how much your gen 1 knowledge helped/hurt you in this playthrough
Aaaannnd boom! He's made it to 50k! Loved every video of the holiday season, you made my December, Scott!
Cringe dude
Congrats on such incredible channel growth this year. I wish you even more success in 2023.
I’ve researched them all now
@@ScottsThoughtsPokemon Nice! I’m excited to see how you implement them in your FR playthroughs!
Great video as always, Scott! Merry Christmas and congrats for 50k!
Only in Crystal
@@emdiameh Yeah, but Scott plays Crystal. I think the bigger issue is how inconsistent the phone calls can be.
Love your videos Scott
Can't wait to see the Kecleon solo run!
Thank you for being the first commenter to be all inclusive. Many blessings to you!
Ideas from someone who's been doing FireRed solo runs:
One thing that I suggest for better consistency (to only need to catch one pokemon) is catching a Spearow instead of Paras/Pidgey, and then trading it for a Farfetch'd in Vermilion City.
(if you know this in advance, you would put neither to sleep, but I'd understand putting the first one to sleep if you didn't know that already)
Important TMs that would be useful here:
-Someone mentioned Thief in Mt.
Random opinions:
Marowak "glitch" is an oversight, not a glitch! They fixed the oversight. :)
Fire Blast being Blaine's TM is fine because I'd rather Flamethrower be buyable than being one-use from Blaine, lol
It might be cool to see the second round of Elite Four, however there are a couple of issues with it.
As someone who grew up on fire red its neat to hear all the small differences between this remake and actual gen 1 from someone who knows it so well
Once your more comfortable with FireRed/LeafGreen and all your normal functions are functional for this generation, you should really redo the VS for the Hitmons.
@@jordanthejq12 My thoughts exactly. It would be far closer then the Gen 1 showdown was.
@@shadowtitanx3962 Also her one Pokémon not immune to EQ has Intimidate, so it could possibly survive the hit.
These daily videos have been the best christmas present I could ask for!
Glad you liked them! Merry Christmas!
Congrats on 50k! Also Merry Christmas everyone!
17:42 - yeah, Compound Eyes is functionally a +1 to accuracy, since it applies even to 100 accuracy moves, so you would have to get to -2 accuracy (functionally -1 after compoundeyes) to start being heavily impacted by reduction, which is nice.
This is the first video I’ve seen of yours. I absolutely love the layout of your videos! All of the information it’s perfect to look at!
The amount of passive aggressive shade throwing on display between 15:46 and 16:06 is truly inspiring.
Tell em Scott!
This was a great gift, seeing Butterfree again was great.
Thank you for that.
I already love Butterfree, but you have just made me love the absolutely adorable bug
I was not ready for your daily uploads to end. They have gotten me through this holiday season.
Mery Christmas Scott :)
Have some nice days and some rest (youre very useful again in Kanto ;D)
And congrats to 50k. It was a ride since the beginning
Supporting you for close to a year now, it's insane how much your video's improved. Thanks so much for all the video's, watched all of them except some streams.
Hopefully a similar amount of improvement will occur next year too!
Brick Break as well shatters Light Screen and Reflect which provides boosted utility on it one of my favorite gen fighting moves actually.
also congrats on 50k!! It has been coming and it is so well earned. 100k around the corner
Finally time for Fire Red and Leaf Green! Now that I’m getting caught back up, I’m excited for what Christmas will bring *this* year! I like the method for handling evolutions that you settled on! I think it’s the best way to do it!
Looks like you have that 50k! Congratulations! Thanks for more butterfree!
FireRed champion theme will alway be my favourite, so intimidating and my first ever goosebumps.
I'm looking forward to seeing how much you're going to improve at FireRed.
It took me way too long to figure it out.
Congrats on 50k subscribers. You deserve many more. Will be great to watch your channel with a few hundred thousand subscribers.
Glad they finally gave it Dream
Eater and usable STAB in gen 3.
Really a good Christmas gift for someone who doesn't celebrate it. And I'd love to see the rematch battles. Would be like a victory lap.
I hope you have a wonderful christmas scott! thanks for all the amazing content and the crazy daily uploads.
Merry Christmas to Scott, anyone who works in production with these videos, and his gal.
Thank you so much for another vid scott...i really needed one. My kid left last night to go be w her mom and i was invited to spend xmas w my friends parents since my parents are a whole state away. I also caught the flu from my kid so today is quite literally the worst xmas ever for me. I love you man never stop
Oh no, sorry to hear that. I hope things get better. Sending good vibes your way!
Pleasant surprise, personally the gen 3 remakes are my favorites, they were the first Pokemon games I got and I've been hooked ever since.
Thanks for uploading so many videos this month. It was wonderful. I'll really miss the daily content. Can't wait for the 31st for the next video
2023 is going to be a great year!
Commenting for the algorithm to say thank you for releasing a video on Christmas (on my all time favorite game btw)
Scott, you ABSOLUTELY should give a round one and round 2 time. Some Pokémon do really well on the late game and some in the early, this would be something good to measure!
hint: the two blackbelt looking guys at 10:45 (Cerulean Mount Moon) are the Mega Punch/Kick Tutors, which isn't relevant for Butterfree, but will be for other pokemon
also curious to see how the leaderboard for FRLG stacks up to the Yellow leaderboard, as it's the same region
and not there in the video yet, but Sevii?
I love using Butterfree in games like FireRed and try to take it as far as I can, but usually end up having to drop it by the E4 so I really enjoy seeing you use it in challenges like this!
Ahhhh! Yes finally!! I've been doing monotype nuzlocks in frlg for years now, done normal, water, grass, fire, flying, bug and poison, I've found it to be a decent challenge with 5 or 6 mons, it's amazing seeing how it is possible to do everything with one pokemon, it's great, you're great 🤣
You could say that another sweet treat from Scott. It’s like having a cake that was butter free.
bro as im listening to the end of the delibird video i refresh youtube to this! amazing timing scott!!!
Hilariously I'm in the middle of watching the emerald playhtrough when you posted this! Looking forward to how everything will change
Theres move tutors across the map, i know in rock tunnel you can get rock slide
I think the game corner tms are fairly similar to emerald mainly the 95 power elemental moves
Thanks for so much content over this month
Thanks for all the videos, Scott. I would love to see the elite four rematches, but I understand if it's too much work. I also used dream eater butterfree when I played fire red. Compound eyes makes butterfree an amazing pokemon for the entirety of the game which is nice since I almost always used butterfree as a little kid, but it wasn't that good in the gen 1 late game.
Too long, didn't read
I love that you expanded on the dome fossil today sir - that was my Christmas Miracle :)
Thank you so much for all of the videos this month! This was a super fun first run in Fire Red, I hope you and your fiancée had a lovely christmas!
Merry Christmas Scott! These daily uploads were a blast!
Edit: Had a tip for leftovers here, but I went back and checked and turned out I was wrong lol... Sorry : P
Hell yeah, fight the rebattles as bonus content. The more scott playing pokemon the better.
Good point. I think I might treat it as a sort of bonus section, but counting it as a part of the timed run doesn’t seem to make much sense.
50.1K subscribers. Your wish came true. Congrats!
You did it! Congrats on 50k. Merry Christmas 🎅🏿
Hope you had a great Christmas Scott. Thank you for the videos and daily content this week. Hug the family and have a great new years
I just watched the Crystal Aerodactyl video yesterday and now get to enjoy yet another full run where somehow the omniboost never triggers.
You've certainly spoiled us Scott. I loved having the constant content, but I know that's not really sustainable. Really looking forward to this week's upload to conclude a wonderful year of content!
Just started playing pokemon 2 months ago and started with Fire Red! Very cool to see you on the remakes now!
Thank you for this video on Christmas Scott, happy holidays and merry Christmas to all
Edit: Gen 3 Mankey run
Thanks for the daily videos, they've been a blast!
Giga Drain would have saved you a lot of aggro against Bruno!
Also the Aerial Ace TM is below the wrapping lass, not sure it would have made much difference though.
Yeah, found out today that it’s where teleport is in gen1. I assumed it would be trash so I skipped it. Whoops!
You should definitely try the postgame as part of your playthroughs, because there’s an entire plot line and a league rematch would be cool to see. Congratulations on the 50K!
Happy Yule, Scott. It's been neat watching all the videos man. Thanks a ton bro.
You're welcome!
Happy holidays!
Enjoyed the full month of content... hope you enjoyed the time, as well! You've become one of my favorite creators on YT, and I'm looking forward to next year's content!
Happy Holidays to you and your fiancé!
Yeeeees Fire Red time! I am so here for this game, Merry Christmas dude!
Made me so happy to see you shout out to squidgy. Love his runs! Merry late Christmas Scott, so excited for FR/LG runs in the future
Thanks for the month of Scott! I, too, got stuck in the Sevii island as a kid.
If you do more FRLG please do the league rebattles! I miss the Oak battle at the end of the gen 1 videos, too.
