    Great Video Andrew, Interesting concept midday long exposures! thanks for sharing

      Thanks for watching Tony. There are no manual or shutter speed control modes on this camera, so this is the workaround for daylight long exposures. Good to see you back on YT.

    Really nice motion and texture in the incoming surf as it comes over the rocks! Coming home from holiday with long exposures of the beach is far better than touristy snapshots. Well done Andrew! Really enjoyed the video and location!

      Thanks for watching Paul. I know they aren't quite up there with your long exposure beach shots, but with the limitations the camera has, I was quite impressed with the results.

    Lovely images Andy. Instant feedback is a big advantage of digital compared to film. I’ve got to bracket and hope for the best when shooting long exposure water shots on film.

      Thanks Dave, It's a fantastic advantage, especially with light trails, you know when it looks right and can stop the recording. Its the ultimate in chimping.

      Thanks, Alex. It's a fun little camera, I bought it to take out with me in the worst of British weather, but it has a few interesting tricks in it. Cheers for watching.

    They worked for me! They showed the action of the waves while still showing the texture of the sea. I don't own an ND filter (except a soft grad), so this was interesting to me. This holiday has provided you with some good opportunities. A great series. Keith

      Thanks for watching Keith. I have a slideshow of macro shots from this camera to put together, too. I think I'm starting to get the hang of macro with the TG-6.

      Hi Lawrence. I don't tend to put links into my videos as I find that the listing are often obsolete within months on somewhere like ebay or amazon.
      The filter adaptor I used is a JJC item, model number JC RN-T01.
      The filter I used is a Pig Iron 40.5mm Pro ND1000 (10 stop) Neutral Density filter.

    Nice bit of gear that Olympus, and you produced a few fine images. I think you should use it with racing cars to produce some crazy image of cars all smeared together!

      I think that could end up being the proverbial 'car crash' 😀 Dennis. Thanks again for watching. It is an interesting little camera with some unique features. It does make me wonder if the OM systems cameras are worth investigating.

    That's a really handy adaptor for a compact. We use a Sony ZV-1 for filming most of the time, and that has an optional ND built in, but there are times when a higher rating is necessary to stop the highlights blowing out. Definitely agree about the polarizer being top of the list. I use one more and more often these days. 😊

    • @AndrewWaltonPhotography
      @AndrewWaltonPhotography  Рік тому

      Thanks for watching Robert. Most compacts have no way of attaching a filter, which I always find unusual as many have pasm modes but no way of creating longer exposures without blowing out the images.

    Do enjoy Olympus products and was exclusively Olympus at one time. Using a little Canon right now and it was probably based totally on price when I was looking for something for video capture. Will need to search out Olympus once again and see what is available. Bruce and Otis

      @AndrewWaltonPhotography  Рік тому +1

      I think the TG-6 may be the last model still bearing the Olympus name. Since Olympus sold the camera division (They still make optical medical equipment under the Olympus brand), the new consortium that took them over renamed them OM Systems. Thanks again for watching Bruce. Have a great week. You're not far off 1000 subscribers, hopefully not too long now.

    Perhaps I'm being dim, but I'm not quite sure what the live composite function is. Taking a guess, I'm thinking that the camera doesn't have the option for a 20-30 second exposure so the work around is taking several shorter exposures (under exposed) and the camera composites/stacks them in a multiple exposure type way to build up the exposure value to the desired level and, in doing so, creates a LE effect? Or am I way off the mark there haha

    • @AndrewWaltonPhotography
      @AndrewWaltonPhotography  Рік тому

      There isn't any way to control the shutter speed on this camera - well, apart from live composite. The live composite feature takes an initial image, then takes several exposures and adds only to the areas that have changed. The advantage over the other cameras I own is being able to see the picture build on the screen, handy for light trails where you can decide when enough is enough.

    Hi, hope your having a wonderful weekend...

  • @AndrewHamiltonPhotography
    @AndrewHamiltonPhotography Рік тому +1

    Not been out for a good while partly due to the glorious blue sky days we’ve had over May and June but this was a reminder that the LE option exists even at midday in much sunnier climes! That live composite view sounds an awesome e feature and saves on the maths too ! Whilst enjoying the photography element of the film I couldn’t help but want to try out swimming in that water - looked so inviting Andrew !!

    • @AndrewWaltonPhotography
      @AndrewWaltonPhotography  Рік тому +1

      It was certainly inviting Andrew, especially in that heat. The east side of the island where we were was a sunrise location but I'm not great at early rising and the bay was surrounded by higher land with trees so the sunsets weren't fantastic either, so blue sky shooting ended up being the only option. I thought it demonstrated the camera's live composite feature though. Thanks for watching.
