In light of the thumbnail testing stating the "hot wife" thumbnail did better, that will now be the thumbnail for the foreseeable future. This is no longer debatable.
@NovaZoneTV, you kind of forgot the best part of Blaster Master Zero, namely, the unique DLC characters, which also includes an upgraded version of Sophia III, and they also have their own unique attacks. Also, the best one of them all would be Shantae having an item that FINALLY gets rid of those annoying spikes, both in the ice, and regular, forms. Also, Blaster Master: Blasting Again gets kind of a mention in Blaster Master Zero 3, as a former foe turned ally adopts Jason's and Eve's kids because, unfortunately, due to controlling the mutants from the mirror universe, fighting against the rogue mutant forces, and them simply being unable to survive in the normal universe, Jason and Eve, despite being a happily married couple, and Eve becoming completely human, as she was in the Worlds of Power novel, literally can never meet their children ever again unless their children somehow figure out how to survive in the mirror universe. Also, said foe turned ally is revealed to be a mother that lost her family, so her adopting the children is kind of filling most of a void in her life. Hopefully, said lady finds a new husband in her life.
The extent he's willing to go proves how much he loves his wife (this is a spoiler-free comment predicting the next 2 games in case someone doesn't get it)
Agreed, the ending to this trilogy not only wrapped up this series, but also tied together the entire franchise. It was a brilliant ending that somehow even surpasses MMZ3's battle against Omega. It's so awesome to see a series like this actually END, and go out on a high note.
I only realized later that this video was about all three games god damn. I tend to see all three games as each offering their own thing and kind of being comparable to the mainline Metroid games in a sense. BMZ2 is very open in how you wanna go about exploring the planets and there's even ways to skip top-view areas using the dash, while BMZ3 is very intentionally linear due to a focus on the narrative (You can't even 100% the map in this game compared to the first two due to reverse maps) while also forcing you to use all of your arsenal as much as possible. Kind of makes me wonder if the contrast was intended to reflect Super Metroid to Metroid Fusion.
Thanks for encouraging me to not watch the ending of Zero 3, I was already feeling like I should pay less attention to the story so I could appreciate it more myself. Would have appreciated another timestamp for your concluding thoughts, I clicked on the Shovelknight splashpage and didn't follow about your motorcycle license :P This was a heck of a ride, great video!
The Blaster Master Zero trilogy was one hell of a trip. Even just watching you talk about the the ending of the trilogy started me tearing up because the twist and just what the goal really was. The fact that Liebnitz was the one to actually instigate the whole affair by first volunteering to take care of the twins then traveling to enlist the other MA pilots to help guard Eve really showed just how much Liebnitz grew since his role as the Maverick in 0-2.
This was easily my favorite series out of inti Creates so far, with BMZ being the fav game! Even though it had less areas and side content to go through compared to the previous games, I still ended up playing through it 7 times in a row and found out some neat tricks on the way. But yeah, thanks for this retrospective, you did a very good job of covering the franchise overall.
I finished Blaster Master Trilogy a while back. Watching this video let me relive the experience. Easily an overlooked gem that I wish more people played.
Man, I am sooo happy to see someone gushing about this series. I grabbed the first when it released, having only been dimly aware of the NES version, but figured since Inticreates hadn't let me down yet, I'd give it a go. Talk about a rollercoaster of a trilogy. So damned satisfying 😌 I love it even more since you've enlightened me to how much work they put into integrating both the Japanese and US versions of the story!
Someone who's never played these games is going to think Jason's "I love white women" shirt is real now and I applaud you for that. Also, super big congrats on the engagement, man!!
Got this recommended to me through UA-cam, and I have to say, this was a remarkable retrospective on the trilogy. These games mean a lot to me, and you managed to capture a lot of my sentiments with them (especially the true ending of Zero 3). Incredible stuff, and I'll definitely be looking forward to your future videos. ^_^
@@thepurplemudkip9998 the title on the thumbnail was originally "loves his hot wife", which I misread as "loves his dead wife". Now it's "From Master to Zero".
I always headcanoned that both blaster master and METAFIGHT take place in the same universe. As Cain lives in a different world, while Jason lives on earth.

I always enjoy your feature length videos so this is a pleasant surprise. About 20 minutes in and noticed the voiceover mentions that it's 2023 so this one has been cooking for a while
Great to see BM Zero covered. Enjoyed your take, Nova. As someone with no real stakes in this series (or the developers) outside the Zero Games (1,2,3), it was fun to hear your perspective. I can't say you've convinced me to like Zero 3 though. Like you, I thought Zero 2 was just about perfect, but unlike you, I was severely disappointed with the direction they decided to take the story. Its good to hear a cohesive explanation of what a fan like you enjoyed about it, though! I was missing that side of things, since so few people talk about these games, and this is certainly the most in depth I've heard someone go about it. Guess I'll have to take another stab at congealing my thoughts about it enough to publish something, haha. Glad to hear it took you, someone experienced with this kind of project, so long! Maybe I'll get there eventually after all.
Oh man, I absolutely love the BMZ trilogy! I am praying for a Blasting Again reimagining or anything BMZ related one of these days. Eve and Jason are the perfect video game couple in my eyes.
A few things you didnt mention: in planet sophia the mutants are known as Invem dark cluster. That giant robot in bmz2 is called protect them all and when you fight it again in the boss rush its called Invem them all. Also im pretty sure that skeleton boss the plutonium boss (i have no idea why the original nes media decided hes the big bad guy when hes just the penultimate boss). Great video. Cant wait for the next inti franchise you cover
i just love the fact that eve was originally from a schoolastic novelization of the game (worlds of power book 1) and sunsoft made her canon in pretty much every game in the series going forwards
I'm really glad someone made a video on this trilogy because I think its overall incredible. I never grew up with the older Blaster Master games, but I got BMZ 1 around when the Switch launched, and tbh I didn't really think that much of it at the time, I beat it and got the normal ending and thought it was okay. A few years later ProtonJon did a pretty comprehensive lets play of BMZ 1. He ended up bringing up the backstories of Metafight and the NES Blaster Master and how they were kind of combined for BMZ 1. And with the context he added in his lets play (along with allowing me to see the true ending of BMZ 1) I appreciate BMZ 1 a lot more, and he also mentioned toward the end of that lets play that a sequel had already been released on the switch. I played BMZ 2 and loved it and coincidentally, like a week after I finished BMZ 2, Blaster Master Zero 3 came out so I bought and played that game day one and I absolutely adored BMZ 3 and was especially blown away by the true ending sequence. Its kind of sad that even to this day I don't see too many people talking about this trilogy because I ended up falling in love with it after admittedly not really clicking with the first game. Shoutouts to Protonjon for his really good lets play of the first game (I really wish he'd do a lets play of BMZ 2 and 3 but he doesn't really seem to do lets plays anymore). And thank you NovaZone for this retrospective. I hope the youtube algorith blesses this retrospective and puts new eyes on this amazing trilogy. Because I think these games deserve more love than they have gotten.
I'm hoping at can get more people on BMZ. I feel like the people who played it is mostly Inti Creates die hards or fans of the NES Blaster Master and I feel like way more people would dig it then that!

I actually didn't figure out you could strafe until the 3rd game xD Major Sadness lolz Also congrats on the engagement!!! Enjoyed the video& have a nice day everybody.
So I've seen Blaster Master before, but it's never truly appealed to me until I first played BMZ1 on the 3DS and effectively went through it seven times (!) thanks to the dlc characters, difficulty modes and so on. I dunno, this reboot series just arrested my attention throughout all of its entries and i rarely see anybody talk about them, so I'm very glad to see this.
Another amazing retrospective! This is my personal favorite trilogy of games ever made, and I'm really glad you loved it so much. You're so based for that last segment of the video. While gv2 is my favorite inti creates game, bmz3 is definitely the best one. Everything about it surprised me so much and recontextualized the entire trilogy, making every replay all the more emotional. I've been trying to get friends on the inti hype train for the longest time, funny to see how the same is working out for you lol. To me, blaster master zero is the gurren lagann of inti creates. That might seem like it's coming out of nowhere but when you think about you'll see what I mean. This series to me is inti creates' magnum opus, and it was all born from such a funny origin story! Keep up the great work, these really do get more people into the franchises you discuss! Hell, I watched casshan sins after your casshern video came out and it's one of my favorite anime, and now a friend's favorite of all time. Your channel changes lives!
Thank you so much! I really love hooking people onto stuff I like. It's way more fun to me than just riffing on stuff I dislike (though that's still fun here and there) The next video I'm doing is honestly a stealth vehicle to get people onto a few other anime I like, so look out for that one!
@@NovaZoneTV I have a question are you interested reviewing the Guyver biobooster armor manga or OVA franchise it has very good deep lore and interesting storyline. I hope you respond back.
I played the original Blaster Master when I was a boy. I loved that game, even though I couldn't get past the level 5 Boss because he sucks hard and if you get hit even once throughout the level, it reduces your chance of success 1000-fold.
Want me to blow your mind? In the original blaster master, you can strafe (!!!) by holding the grenade button. While strafing, you can still shoot the gun with the gun button. Taking these two things into account, if you strafe left and right while facing up against the stage 5 boss, you can shoot your gun accurately at his weak spot while still being able to dodge his bubble, drastically reducing his difficulty from “unfair” to “hard but totally doable”. As a kid, I only ever beat him a few times using the NES advantage’s slow motion feature. Even playing on NES emulators years later I slowed down the game speed and used save states to win. I only found out about strafing around 2010 or so when Overdrive released.
Such an underrated series, too bad Inti still haven't updated the titles with the japanese voice overs that the Trilogy version on Switch apparently has.
man, Inti -almost- never misses, thanks for making me into yet another series that I was looking from afar to finally play, finally some brand new series for me to get really deep into, which btw, I got all S+ on Copen's side of GV2, you are the one responsible for this, thank you so so much for your video on GV, for making me give it a 4th attempt at getting into it, and finally doing so, finally getting GV offtopic, have you ever played Sin and Punishment? and if so, would you consider making a video? I think it would fit your channel perfectly, an obscure duology of games from a mostly dead game genre from one of the greatest developers of the fifth generation, that being their first ever attempt on said genre, plus also being the best game of said genre (1 that is, 2 is great, but by reasons that only those who played 1 on medium and hard attempting to 1CC it will now, 2 doesn't quite live up to 1 in a lot of ways); it all just fits your channel imo, the purest of arcade fun, a batshit insane but also beautiful story that is condensed to less than 15 minutes of in-game cutscenes and almost 30 minutes of backstory, and being completely obscure one last thing, thanks for the videos man, for real, great in-depth gameplay analysis for junkies like me, great story analysis for nerds like me, great choice of games that I would take a loooong time to actually give a shot (BM as the main example) or would just give up never understanding their greatness (the GV series, with 2 being at my top games of all time), your great narration, all of it adds to me always smilling at your channel notifications, thanks for the good work mate, I'm excited to see more of it
Always love getting people into obscure stuff! I'm pretty confident I've gotten quite a few people onto the Inti Creates train at this point! I haven't played Sin & Punishment but I've always been curious since Smash Bros. Brawl (Like I'm sure most westerners). I'm not gonna say I'll look at it anytime soon, but I won't say no either.
@@NovaZoneTV nice, any bit of hope is enough for me, do try to 1CC (1 Credit Clear)1 on medium if you ever get to play it, imo it's the best way to enjoy the game, as all stages are more or less tutorials with gates in between them until the final stage (example of 1-1 you'll mostly learn how to aim and walk if you want to get the score bonuses, and 1-2 you'll mostly learn to aim better at multiple small enemies while keeping in track what happens in the foreground, so that in 2-1 all of that is put to practice with 2 bosses that make use of exactly that, and a stage that is basically 1-1 and 1-2 on steroids, another example is 2-2 being literally a gate that will gameover your ass if you can't learn to aim and shoot with the manual aim, afaik, it is impossible to pass that part with auto aim, which is later on brought back for the last stage in the game, everything is just tutorials disguised as normal stages and bosses, which is amazing), wouldn't ever recommend that for 2 because, if you ever play I'm sure you'll understand it

2:03:43 actually you're not too far off with the tear part, because there was actually tear running down leibniz's eye when the mask is partially broken to reveal said eye
1:43:36 That would actually be very interesting Some games like Megaman makes you wonder how long it taked While SA2 gives you time and place, Sonic Adventure is kinda loose, that idea caught me off guard, start cooking Nova, i will definitely start hunting for these games, seems like my kind of jam Also congrats on your engagement
As a kid that grew up playing the Megaman Zero series, I'm grateful that Inti was finally able to create a trilogy that matched and even surpassed it in some ways. Felt like a kid again playing these.
While I enjoyed BMZ, I can't help to wonder how come that Inticreates always fall back on the "young hero with a young girl supporting him" trope. And always comes with an option to have conversations with said support girl? It happens on Megaman Zero, in Gunvolt and here. Nothing against it, but I was not surprised to see this dynamic again. And in the sequels it seems they lean on even more making Jason's and Eve's relationship more important to the story.
fun fact the striker shot can only have 1 shot onscreen at any time BUT it can be fired as fast as you can tap the button get in close and spam = kill everything on screen
Sunsoft may not be on the same levels as the big boys but they sure knew how to make killer tunes for nes. Combine that with the track record of inti and you got banger music for the whole trilogy
I can't believe I didn't see the notification for this. I love the Blaster Master Zero games and in my mind you are the inti creates guy(please do Dragon Marked for Death and/or Bloodstained Cursed of the Moon). Now on to the video!
DMfD would probably be the next Inti game I do a video on? Bloodstained is weird because I have Castlevania thoughts too that I might wanna do before then, but also, no way am I doing every Castelvania before then.
Garuda is my favourite MA, and its lore makes me love it even more: when making the Metal Attackers, the engineers were split into four groups, each with the budget for two tanks each. Team Alpha, Kane and Jen’s, made Sophia III and Andreia, as well as the Zero. They made them well and they were good all-rounders by simply improving on the design of the original. Team Bravo made Atom and the unseen MA-04, both of which ended up too heavy to fly through space on their own, in exchange for having the greatest firepower of the bunch. Team Charlie was on some shit and decided to go wild, making Kuebiko (a tractor) and Eir (sort of a bike). They put their own spin on the whole idea, only limitation being that they made vehicles at all. Team Delta, though, said “fuck the prompt” and made a single hyper-capable hyper-mobile air tank, Garuda. The result is one of the fastest vehicles ever made, with great firepower to boot and also not lacking in defense. In the post-game, they were so mad about the SF shooting down their baby that they souped it up even harder, and also took in Leibniz’s request for flight sticks, meaning even greater manoeuvrability. They are very proud of their work, and I get it. Rising Garuda is sick.
In case you couldn't tell, the Blaster Master Zero trilogy is one of my favourite series of all time, and to see this in my recommended filled me with so much joy. Thanks, NovaZone.
My favourite part of the video, is when you talk about the finale of BMZ3 and how it ties everything together (funny, because it's my favourite moment in any game I've played). I don't know if that's purely because of bias, since BMZ3 was the first game I streamed "seriously", and it holds a special place in my heart, but I look back at the game with so many good memories.
I finally started my journey on BMZ1 today, funnily enough, the day I saw your video I was dead set on buying, and the promo was 3 days ago from the day I watched the damn video, so close yet so far, now I already have 1 and 2, waiting to see if I can convince a friend to buy 3 for me, another fun fact, my PC can't play this game at 60fps, that's how bad I've got, thankfully, special k exists, so I'm managing for now So far, about to go to start exploring Area 4, it's like, the best NES game ever made, in terms of controls and level design, but still doesn't evolve from a NES game, like Shovel Knight does with its beyond phenomenal level design, I'm looking forward to more of it definitely, probably will beat the game tomorrow, my friend bought the 2nd one for me but he'll only unlock it at my birthday, which thankfully is next month, so I'm really really looking forward to it
Blaster Master Zero is moster certainly one of my favorite games of all times, especially for the 80s sci-fi mecha anime influence (I'm talkin' Macross, MOSPEADA, and Orguss baby).
This trilogy is easily my favorite work by Inti Creates since Mega Man Zero and Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon. Not to mention it has one of the best love stories in any video game, I can't get enough of Jason and Eve, they are so adorable together.
@17:40 - I love the Haunted Castle insert, considering that Konami has released a Castlevania Collection that includes that game(the Castlevania Dominus Collection, contains Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia).
Blaster master Zero was/is the perfect Steam Deck game, i recently started playing BM2 and was blown away by the improvement to the over head shooter sections. I already though the side scroller bits in tje first game was perfect so its looking really good.
also YOOOOO i just noticed that roddy is wearing bits of leibnizes armor the shin guards leibniz forearm blades on the shoulders and what may be a helmet styled after leibnizes on the chest plate? maybe the helmet folds down onto the chest when not in use? actually yeah it looks like leibnizes horn behind his head this design is oddly well made
19:22 so I bought this game with pocket money for my PS1 and I’m about to emulator it to replay, but the game style took a Metroidlike exploration turn where there were some areas you’d return to with tank upgrades to get other bonuses. Some of the ost slaps hard, there’s definitely a lot of jank in the out of tank bits, but overall the VAs did a good job and it’s worth finishing it out.
Something that you didn't comment through the analysis of Zero 1 bosses: they have specific weaknesses. The Hard shell crab receives extra damage from the piercing shot (and can be used from any angle). Some are weak to the spread shot, others to the flame thrower, etc. Heck the final form of the Mutant Lord was weak to the rapid fire. (You can confirm they're weak to your shots because the lifebar vibrates like crazy on the HUD and it mostly takes a few shots, depending on if it's a single boss or multiple targets) The sub weapons have other utilities too, the flash bang can stop enemies in place allowing you to use their weakness (or in the case of stealth sections, combo that with the electric gun and clear the room of enemies haha). The turret may attack randomly, but it's also a target for enemies (even bosses, the Mutant Lord completely focuses on it leaving you to attack with no need to dodge) While not perfect, I found a lot of uses for Jason's on foot arsenal. 😁
So you're telling me that Jason gets to smash a hot blonde girl who then proceeds to give birth to 2 kids who will probably be the protagonists in the fourth game if we ever get a fourth game but Gunvolt got disrespected in his third game, deaged and is currently in nowhere and Copen is in spin off land...... I swear to God if Card en Ciel gives us A BS ending then I'm gonna be so mad at this company if they only give Jason a happy ending lol. I mean yeah technically it isn't a happy ending but I mean come on he gets to smash eve and eve is the only woman to say I love you in any of these games so that's a victory and I hope they keep that victory for when Card en Ciel drops. Still a very solid trilogy though let's hope they don't make a fourth game and then somehow screw it all up. I don't want another mega man Zero 4 accident.
@@capstalker5539 Oh believe me I am very happy especially considering that I am a gunvolt fan and have been very annoyed with how constantly depressing they've been having the endings with the third game being yeah let's f*** over GV from his own series and then proceed to give him an awful conclusion. Again fingers crossed Card en Ciel DOESN'T do that again.
Spoilers for BMZ3 just in case anyone reading this hasn't reached that part of the video You know the ending area in the super-dimensional space in BMZ3, with the cocoon, kinda reminded me of the moon sized ELS in the gundam 00 movie. And how eve technically becomes the mutant queen and jason evolving to live in the super-dimensional space also reminiscent to how setsuna lets himself be assimilated and comes back in an ELS body
Dunno if it was mentioned but the original NES Blaster Master also has a strafe function, if you hold the bomb button you would lock Jason in that direction. Of course that meant holding the one button down the whole time when pressing the other to shoot while also moving back and forth but with practice it was doable.
The reason Blaster Master 2 was awful was because Software Creations was too busy making sure Plok and Equinox were great while sacrificing the quality of the other games they were making.
@@silverthecatastrophic5270yeah in hindsight it was for the better. But let's say you were a blaster master fan in the 90s, you wouldn't be happy with blaster master 2 would you
Uhhh.... in ix2 it's pretty much stated during the game AND ESPECIALLY the true ending route (aka hard mode) that copen died and the copen we play as had gotten what was likely either their blaster riffle or mayhaps found rudy's and used that to basically create his new weapon.... either way, it does paint a big question that has yet to get an answer.... how did the copen that the other world lola know die?
46:21 really small addendum, turrets get targeted, not only by enemies, but by bosses as well, you can demolish the Mutant Overlord in 5 seconds with the turret
It's so weird to watch footage of BMZ2 where the player both doesn't know that you can mash the Burn Dash to keep it going for a DRASTICALLY reduced energy cost, and where the player doesn't mash the Blast Counter on even the tutorial turret enemies who keep flashing a button prompt telling you to keep doing it.
Tbh, this is what I think with tons of my videos if I played blind. I normally play a 2nd time off screen, so watching the less experienced footage can kill me inside. Especially with BMZ3 in this video. I played that 2 more times after the initial writing.
33:55 quick correction: the laser charge shot in bmz1 does not use any sp. in fact, it's the only charge shot that's cost-free every other charge shot pales in comparison to that reliability, and i personally almost never use any other charge when playing, because why would i need to?
"This slide is used it both." Don't you hate when typos get missed like that? Seriously though, gonna enjoy this video. I've been a Blaster Master fan for a long time. And played though Blasting Again on my channel about seven years ago.
I finally did it, I beat all 3 of them, in commemoration I'll watch your video for a 6th time, this video honestly rocks And let me start by saying this, I both hate you and love you for not telling me about what you had to do for the final scene, I watched them both standing there, and I knew I what I had to do, but I was in disbelief, my face literally went from 😐 to 😭, I can't recall a single game who came even closer to achieving this, holy Furthermore, BMZ2's blasting counter is far far superior, as is its item distribution, everything else BMZ3 blows out of the fucking water, what a game
Tbh, I debated for a WHILE on if I explain how to get the good ending 😭. I decided everyone should have to figure it out, just as I did. (Or open a guide)
@@NovaZoneTVI wasn't talking about pressing RB+LB at the cracked screen, I meant at the literal ending, that you HAVE to move the analog stick for Jason to hug Eve, that fucking destroyed me dude
You're right on Blasting Again. I moreso mentioned it for the bit. It's been a year now since I read the novel, but I don't believe she ever changed hair color? I word searched the PDF of it and didn't find anything for "Blonde" or "Gold" and anytime the words "hair" was used it was the one time to describe Eve's as red, or to say something like "Jason's arm hair spiked in fear". So more likely than not the team making Blasting Again just wanted to change it.
not one talks about the giant purple metal attacker that you fight invem sophia inside and on top of thats that supposed missing metal attacker from bravo team and the sister to MA-03 atom also real chads beat invem with the accel blast
yep thats g sophia sv tire treads check out id say that roddy and elfie was given to kane who brought them back and gave them to leibniz g sophia sv must of been salvaged by jason after the ending scene and before he left for eve i wonder if jason gave the plans for sophia j1 to the kids otherwise how will a j7 ever be made if roddy and elfie had never seen j1
BMZ1 as a the first game of the trilogy was cool to play even if at times things became tedious like the stealth sections. BMZ2 is my favorite with the story, abilities, the exploration and the optional challenges though I hate the last part of the game (the one with non-tank Eve) mainly due to instakill from fall damage. God, how many times did I die there. BMZ3, while it ends the story with a bang, well, the SF dungeons were meh. Doesn’t help that most of those gave mediocre rewards for the high risk involved. The superdimensional sections were interesting though. And the last stage, while very challenging, is incredibly fun (though I’ve yet to fight Jason, did the final boss fight against Kane).
Loved Blaster Master Zero, but it really ramped up the Inticreates Adolescent Horny factor. I think this team would do well to reign it in a bit so that us 40-somethings feel comfortable sharing their awesomeness with kids and spouses.
Yeah that's a reasonable worry... my fiance is already asking me what games I would let our kids play and my instant thought is "Not half the ones I've played lately"

Ah yes. It’s always a pleasure waking up to a good UA-cam notification
Man, I am sooo happy to see someone gushing about this series. I grabbed the first when it released, having only been dimly aware of the NES version, but figured since Inticreates hadn't let me down yet, I'd give it a go. Talk about a rollercoaster of a trilogy. So damned satisfying 😌
I love it even more since you've enlightened me to how much work they put into integrating both the Japanese and US versions of the story!
Someone who's never played these games is going to think Jason's "I love white women" shirt is real now and I applaud you for that.
Also, super big congrats on the engagement, man!!

Incredible stuff, and I'll definitely be looking forward to your future videos. ^_^

I got hyper fixated on the series a couple weeks back and was saddened to see no videos like this. So thank you for making one.
I always headcanoned that both blaster master and METAFIGHT take place in the same universe. As Cain lives in a different world, while Jason lives on earth.

About 20 minutes in and noticed the voiceover mentions that it's 2023 so this one has been cooking for a while
Alright, have to beat Zero 3 before finishing the video.
Much appreciate highlighting this rad series. 👍
I literally
LITERALLY BOUGHT ALL 3 OF THESE GAMES 3 DAYS AGO
I just beat 2 going on 3
Thank you, Inti Creates and your half of sales almost every other month 🙏
Wow, I stumbled on ProtonJon's playthrough of Zero 1 about the same time you did, it seems. Small world.

I actually didn't figure out you could strafe until the 3rd game xD Major Sadness lolz
Also congrats on the engagement!!!
It's way more fun to me than just riffing on stuff I dislike (though that's still fun here and there)
The next video I'm doing is honestly a stealth vehicle to get people onto a few other anime I like, so look out for that one!

My man I'm just watching this knowing I gotta get these games in physical. You did a fantastic job! Can't wait till I watch some more from you.
I only found out about strafing around 2010 or so when Overdrive released.
this is a fantastic retrospective video, and it basically echoes all of my sentiments on the series. great work!!
Such an underrated series, too bad Inti still haven't updated the titles with the japanese voice overs that the Trilogy version on Switch apparently has.
Never knew blaster master had such lore. Realy nice
Hell yeah finally someone doing a big old retrospective on this series. Been waiting for this
I've been eagerly awaiting for this one. This was a stellar retrospective as always with all the research you put into this one.
Heck yeah, this is the best way to start my Friday.
man, Inti -almost- never misses, thanks for making me into yet another series that I was looking from afar to finally play, finally some brand new series for me to get really deep into, which btw, I got all S+ on Copen's side of GV2, you are the one responsible for this, thank you so so much for your video on GV, for making me give it a 4th attempt at getting into it, and finally doing so, finally getting GV
offtopic, have you ever played Sin and Punishment? and if so, would you consider making a video? I think it would fit your channel perfectly, an obscure duology of games from a mostly dead game genre from one of the greatest developers of the fifth generation, that being their first ever attempt on said genre, plus also being the best game of said genre (1 that is, 2 is great, but by reasons that only those who played 1 on medium and hard attempting to 1CC it will now, 2 doesn't quite live up to 1 in a lot of ways); it all just fits your channel imo, the purest of arcade fun, a batshit insane but also beautiful story that is condensed to less than 15 minutes of in-game cutscenes and almost 30 minutes of backstory, and being completely obscure
one last thing, thanks for the videos man, for real, great in-depth gameplay analysis for junkies like me, great story analysis for nerds like me, great choice of games that I would take a loooong time to actually give a shot (BM as the main example) or would just give up never understanding their greatness (the GV series, with 2 being at my top games of all time), your great narration, all of it adds to me always smilling at your channel notifications, thanks for the good work mate, I'm excited to see more of it
Always love getting people into obscure stuff!

*YES, I LOVE BLASTER MASTER ZERO*
As a kid that grew up playing the Megaman Zero series, I'm grateful that Inti was finally able to create a trilogy that matched and even surpassed it in some ways. Felt like a kid again playing these.
It always struck me that we wouldn't have gotten the entire BMZ trilogy had matt papa not had a back pain that day, the world works in a strange way
OH HELL YEAH
LOVE SEEING PEAK FICTION IN THE NOTIFICATIONS
Yo Lumas! I can agree with you. this is indeed peek fiction.
An inti series where the third game ends with a mirror match with a twist and has zero in title, so yeah 10/10 would blaster again
Actually had the Blaster Master Novel. Found it fairly interesting as a kid.
Fantastic video, I cried in the last 10 minutes

Sunsoft may not be on the same levels as the big boys but they sure knew how to make killer tunes for nes. Combine that with the track record of inti and you got banger music for the whole trilogy
Batman NES and Return of the Joker's OST are so high tier for NES music.
YOOOOOO HOLY SHIT, I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!
I didn't think it was ever coming out, this is awesome
heres hoping that bmz4 shows up in the nintendo indie and partner showcase tomorrow

True. I did play some Blaster Master 2 on Genesis for this video!
I finally started my journey on BMZ1 today, funnily enough, the day I saw your video I was dead set on buying, and the promo was 3 days ago from the day I watched the damn video, so close yet so far, now I already have 1 and 2, waiting to see if I can convince a friend to buy 3 for me, another fun fact, my PC can't play this game at 60fps, that's how bad I've got, thankfully, special k exists, so I'm managing for now
So far, about to go to start exploring Area 4, it's like, the best NES game ever made, in terms of controls and level design, but still doesn't evolve from a NES game, like Shovel Knight does with its beyond phenomenal level design, I'm looking forward to more of it definitely, probably will beat the game tomorrow, my friend bought the 2nd one for me but he'll only unlock it at my birthday, which thankfully is next month, so I'm really really looking forward to it

Blaster Master Zero is moster certainly one of my favorite games of all times, especially for the 80s sci-fi mecha anime influence (I'm talkin' Macross, MOSPEADA, and Orguss baby).

Hey! You're back i missed you
19:22 so I bought this game with pocket money for my PS1 and I’m about to emulator it to replay, but the game style took a Metroidlike exploration turn where there were some areas you’d return to with tank upgrades to get other bonuses.
(You can confirm they're weak to your shots because the lifebar vibrates like crazy on the HUD and it mostly takes a few shots, depending on if it's a single boss or multiple targets)
The sub weapons have other utilities too, the flash bang can stop enemies in place allowing you to use their weakness (or in the case of stealth sections, combo that with the electric gun and clear the room of enemies haha). The turret may attack randomly, but it's also a target for enemies (even bosses, the Mutant Lord completely focuses on it leaving you to attack with no need to dodge)
While not perfect, I found a lot of uses for Jason's on foot arsenal.
I'd imagine that Sunsoft were breathing down Inti's neck to prevent the Inti curse of depressing endings.
Because Jason and Eve got married and had children in the old BM game, and you should be glad that this IP does not belong to Inti.

You know the ending area in the super-dimensional space in BMZ3, with the cocoon, kinda reminded me of the moon sized ELS in the gundam 00 movie. And how eve technically becomes the mutant queen and jason evolving to live in the super-dimensional space also reminiscent to how setsuna lets himself be assimilated and comes back in an ELS body
Zero 2's become one of my favorite games in a decade.
It oddly reminds me of Mass Effect!
Dunno if it was mentioned but the original NES Blaster Master also has a strafe function, if you hold the bomb button you would lock Jason in that direction. Of course that meant holding the one button down the whole time when pressing the other to shoot while also moving back and forth but with practice it was doable.
I didn't mention it because I didn't know that until later on. I think I used some strafing footage when I went back on a replay.
51:30 There were tank boss fights in Blaster Master Blasting Again on PS. A 2 or 3 of em if I remember correctly.
the dlcs for zero 1 and 2 were free when they first launched iirc
so that was neat
area 2 in bmz1 was a residential district
its where people lived during the ice age
The reason Blaster Master 2 was awful was because Software Creations was too busy making sure Plok and Equinox were great while sacrificing the quality of the other games they were making.
That checks out. A lot of devs will take outsourced project to fund their own ideas.
@@NovaZoneTVBTW have you listened to those osts? Tim Follin at his finest.

Tbh, the minimal story that was in ix2 is such a blur to me now 😅
@@NovaZoneTV fair given how fast paced the game is
46:21 really small addendum, turrets get targeted, not only by enemies, but by bosses as well, you can demolish the Mutant Overlord in 5 seconds with the turret
1:06:34 fun fact, you can chain it, it costs less each subsequent use in a chain
33:55 quick correction: the laser charge shot in bmz1 does not use any sp. in fact, it's the only charge shot that's cost-free
every other charge shot pales in comparison to that reliability, and i personally almost never use any other charge when playing, because why would i need to?
"This slide is used it both." Don't you hate when typos get missed like that?
Seriously though, gonna enjoy this video. I've been a Blaster Master fan for a long time. And played though Blasting Again on my channel about seven years ago.
I finally did it, I beat all 3 of them, in commemoration I'll watch your video for a 6th time, this video honestly rocks
And let me start by saying this, I both hate you and love you for not telling me about what you had to do for the final scene, I watched them both standing there, and I knew I what I had to do, but I was in disbelief, my face literally went from 😐 to 😭, I can't recall a single game who came even closer to achieving this, holy
Furthermore, BMZ2's blasting counter is far far superior, as is its item distribution, everything else BMZ3 blows out of the fucking water, what a game
Tbh, I debated for a WHILE on if I explain how to get the good ending 😭. I decided everyone should have to figure it out, just as I did. (Or open a guide)

53:52 I want to say that, I'm pretty sure novel Eve changes her hair color at the end of the book, plus in blasting again she is shown blonde

Shame how the sequels for zero stripped features added to the original zero through dlc, especially boss rush and hard mode.
Also good luck with Dragon Marked for Death, it’s a decent game but is very tedious to see all the content.
Big question is that I ❤️ white woman t shirt actually in the game or did you edit that in
It would've been if they weren't playing around.
not one talks about the giant purple metal attacker that you fight invem sophia inside and on top of
thats that supposed missing metal attacker from bravo team and the sister to MA-03 atom
also real chads beat invem with the accel blast
yep thats g sophia sv
tire treads check out
id say that roddy and elfie was given to kane who brought them back and gave them to leibniz
g sophia sv must of been salvaged by jason after the ending scene and before he left for eve
i wonder if jason gave the plans for sophia j1 to the kids
otherwise how will a j7 ever be made if roddy and elfie had never seen j1
Yeah fr, it gets so embarrassing to recommend these to friends 😭
@Novezone I have a question are you interested reviewing the Guyver biobooster armor manga or OVA franchise it has very good deep lore and interesting storyline. I hope you respond back.
I believe I've answered before, I've never seen it. I'm not going to say never, but as of now, I have no plans for it, while I do have plans for other projects. Do not hold your breath for it.
