Another thing: subscriptions. You shouldn’t have any ideally but that’s not how the world works. If you’re living in a place that has 4 walls and a roof with lighting and running water, you’re paying a subscription every single month. It’s not called a subscription but it works the exact same way. The only thing other than that you should be paying monthly is your phone bill and (maybe) internet. Anything else is a luxury, wait until you start making more money, you’re not going to be missing out on anything. I know it sucks but these days even playing video games is expensive. You wanna play almost any PS4 or PS5 game? You gotta pay $70 a month just to play multiplayer games and even a bunch of games with no multiplayer at all. Thats why I cancelled my subscription. It’s not like I’m getting anything out of 90% of the video games being made today anyway, so why pay for it? I remember just a few years ago everything was at least affordable but that’s not the case anymore. Every subscription has increased in price, there are 10 times the amount of subscriptions there used to be and even when you pay, you’ll probably still have to watch ads. I miss the days when playing my favorite game didn’t overdraft my bank account. That said, I’m going to enjoy the last month or so of free games from PS Plus then I’m done. Most people may not be literally broke but I am. I’ve accepted that most “normal things” are now privileges. The economy is shit and won’t be getting better anytime soon it ever does at all. I now sympathize with the people who choose to cut everyone and everything off and go live in the wilderness. I’ve never hated this world more than I do now. this dude spits some really useful information for young people and people in general in fact. very underrated video. it should spread further. When I was younger and got a salary from a brigade I would immediately visit a shop and spend it all in one day (rookie mistake). If i saved money back then, i could have a car by now but I don't (im a car enthusiast). There's a saying: "save money so money can save you." Thank you for this video dawg i love it.
just finished my minecraft 2 week obsession and im going thru the process of buying my first home but i need to work on making my bank statements look better. and you just posted this. lowkey freaky.
i wish i saw this video sooner. ever since june i was crying sm because i barely had money. i frequently have flights for work and i barely had money to make capital for item production for my business. if you think about it, i didn’t have much to worry about. i’m still a teen. i live with my guardians, like why would a teenager worry about money? i told myself at the start of the year that i would eat out lesser, that i shouldn’t order food. my family barely cooks food that i can physically eat (i have asd)so i have to resort to buying canned food or ordering to eat, but i’ve been also spending wayyy too much money on things i don’t need. i would order sweet ahh drinks everyday (matcha, boba etc), i would frequently buy anime merch even though i have nowhere to put it in. i feel guilty but tried telling myself that it’s a way for me to heal my inner child. it finally kicked in last week where i had an emergency where my laptop broke and made me unable to work, i also have a flight coming up and didn’t knew what to do. i barely had money left in my bank. i guess i learned my lesson now, i just wished that i learned it sooner. but it’s not that late i suppose…? :)
if you are still breathing, it is not too late =) life - it's just one long experience harboring game, so if you messed up - it's kinda good. day without mess up is the day you did not evolve. raise some emergency capital, search for a good friends(and be the one) and.. good luck, haha. you will made it!
I still remember when I got the issue with the gpu when my brother was away from home for long so I did what a smart (or not) kid would do and tried to fix it myself and it worked. Still remember how rewarding of a feeling that was to be able to understand the problem and fix it by myself by watching tutorials on youtube and troubleshooting the issues... And since then many years passed and I can consider myself "tech savvy" now...
Another truth bomb right here, especially the point on food. I started resisting eating out more often and slowly put that saved money into a savings account as most of the time there's still something edible at home that will be enough to stay filled for a bit.
The cooking part is definetly the biggest part way to save money. I've been guilty of this during college and then I started cooking and saving more money. You'll get better and better with the more you cook. Please don't eat out everyday:

Thanks niko, I needed to hear this. Not the saving money thing, I already do that, but with watching some of your videos I've now found motivation to apply myself in college. Fun fact, You can run your AC unit 24/7 and it won't run up the bill. It depends on the temperature you set it on. I don't know how it is for everyone else in other states but that's the rule here. That's also why you might hear your power company say put your thermostat to 75 degrees or something like that because A.) It does conserve more power. B.) Your bills come out cheaper.
You always seem to show up in my feed when I’m getting a bit stressed about something, but I think it’s a good thing! Thank you for the sage advice, Niko.
Also it’s probably not the most healthiest as frozen prepped meals probably have thousands of preservatives, flavoring, pointless ingredients and probably has more calories than if you had made it in home.
I would take the pixel any day, when my Pixel 7 broke I was forced to use a borrowed iPhone for a few days and it was hell. I also, fixed the phone myself because Google provides official parts and even gives you tools to pair the new fingerprint sensor serial number, unlike Apple which will say that you "can't" because of "SeCuRiTy".
My advice is don’t buy because other do, I had been using my iPhone 13 Pro for years and I don’t ever think I need a newer one despite all those new fancy features, my 13 pro is more than enough and I don’t buy new phone because other people do
I agree with you on the food thing. I remember watching Food Wars the anime and watching that scene where the broth dissolves into the rice. This gave me a similar idea to prep some rice, in another pan I cooked peas with soy sauce then separated them, i then same pan I made scramled eggs with mushrooms. Making the bottom layer just rice i added the egg with mushroom then topped it with the soysauce peas. The peas basically started meshing into the rice. Learning how to create variation through testing is a useful mentality/skill.
Sadly, out here in California, thrift stores are no longer cheap. I have found shirts there in good condition but used for the same price as new from walmart. Its ridiculous. Good vid! 👍
The eating out thing is something ive struggled with. The convience of the apps is so addicting. I recently sat down and looked at my bank statements, I spent 1100$ last month on delivery. Absolutely insane, I had no idea it was that much until I looked at it.
This is an excellent video. I’m 33. Anyone younger reading this comment please learn the skill of retaining your money as young as possible. It’s so great to have it, however if people know you have saved and saved you will be hit up for money over and over again. It might be hard especially with family, but “No” is a complete sentence.
You forgot to mention about useless subscriptions that people probably end up forgetting and passively lose out on money that they could've had, I feel like stuff like that is also a big contributing factor to losing out on money
I never you were Greek, coming from a Greek myself! But all of that aside your advice could've saved me a lot of money in the future. Appreciate your videos, take care.
For food when im lazy, I just make baked potatoes. Sour cream, cheese, pop it in the microwave and you're done. So easy and cheap to make and fills me up.
I'm so glad that I've never had the compulsion to spend. I just save and invest everything I make and spend the bare minimum. Maybe a couple grand a year of discretionary spending and the rest is just bills which I keep to a minimum. In a few more years I expect to have enough money to where if I had to stop working for whatever reason, i could subsist indefinitely.
I have a routine where 5 days of the week I make home cooked meals, and then friday night and saturday afternoon I go out to eat, and that's been a really nice thing for me, because I reward myself some personal time on those days, where I can hang with friends. and I had to move back in with my parents due to a safety situation, but now I save like 75-100 dollars a month, and that's been really nice because now i'm gonna put that money into investments.
1 thing about sales, certain stores like Amazon will artificially raise the price of items before a big sale and then the "sale" will just be the normal price for that item. Make sure to look at historical pricing of items before you buy or else you might not really be getting the value you think you are
Half tip for his first pount: if you are going to eat out, eat off the value menu. the Wendy's 5 dollar biggie bag is a great value, Taco Bell cravings value menu is a pretty good price and if you have to get a drink get it during happier hour between 2-5pm when its only 1 dollar
Can you make a video about societal norms in the future, like their expectations Vs. your own personal goals? I feel like more people should understand that not everyone wants to go the same route as them and the topic is somewhat controversial.
my pov: spend less than what you make, place a good chunk of biweekly income into your savings or investing account, and try to save money in your chequeing account (this gives me the illusion that i'm saving money twice). this system allowed me to stay balanced where I'm super aware of my spending power and I can enjoy spending money stress free because I know I'm saving something. Should something financially stressful come up, i can fall back on the money i saved in my chequeing account before it bleeds into my savings. dont forget to treat yourself.
"Go to thrift stores" I am so happy my city in Sweden has like a dozen thrift stores, only thing that sucks is health problems have made it hard to get to them (used to love going to them and buying used pc games, they sell them for anything between 50 cents and 2,50$)
I just spent 30$ on a pizza, and I could have just watched an actual financial advisors video but I saw you were playing minecraft, and I think I can actually save my money now thanks to you playing minecraft and talking about money, PS I find it funny you said the thing about rock climbing with friends because I do that often too and its expensive then after we go to raise & canes it really does make sense why Im broke
12:10 I'll second going to the thrift store. I love it. We went all the time when I was a kid because we didn't have a ton of money and thats where pretty much all my clothes came from. 0:39 No one tells people not to put money in a savings account. Anyone with minimal financial knowledge can understand the concept/power of investing a part of your earnings into a safe security, to create manageable growth over several years. Put a little into the market after you've gone through your budget, it'll be beneficial and can make a big change down the road.

My mother always told and i tell my little cousins all the time: “if you can’t cook, you’re useless” i’ve already taught my little cousins how cook steak and home made cheese sauce mac and cheese.
If you live in a car dependent area: try learning car maintenance, even if you’re hiring someone else to do it for you. Hold onto that car as long as you can so you don’t have to buy a new one.
Yea but its honestly kinda dumb to cook at home all the time when we have a bunch of facilities all over the place that cook better food more easily and in less time
I’ve personally never understood spending exorbitant amounts of money on food. Just the other day I was looking at how much it would cost to take a trip to New York. Most of the figures were waaay more than it would actually cost. People said that the average person would be spending $100 USD PER DAY just for food. Thats the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard and even New York isn’t THAT expensive. Everyone was also worried about finding a “good” hotel instead of an AirBNB or something. $200 for a single day in Manhattan is crazy. I only eat one meal per day and live off of Ramen noodles and I’m perfectly content with that. It’s not the healthiest thing to eat but I like it, it’s cheap, easy and quick to make, and quick to eat. Meanwhile, there are people spending hundreds of dollars on Wagyu steak!
I have a coworker who literally every day I work with him will stop at a drive through to grab AT LEAST 1 meal per day. That's like 10 dollars instantly down the drain. And then sometimes he'll buy breakfast, lunch, and coffee in one day. This man is wasting half his paycheck instead of just waking up fifteen minutes earlier and making his own coffee and breakfast, and packing a pre-prepared lunch. I have no idea what his financial situation is but I can't imagine it's any good.
If you're a young man, you don't think you'll have a family or own a home (most won't now) then there's no point in saving money. The economy is so awful and it's on the brink of collapse anyway. Each day your money is worth less and less.
Tip #1: Haircuts cost ppl hella money. Consider saving 25 bucks a month (or however often you get your hair cut) and buying a pair of clippers online for 20 bucks and either giving urself a haircut (buzz cuts are easy) or get a family member of friend to do it. My gf cuts my hair and we use the saved money for dates. Tip #2: don’t go out for coffee and invest in a solid coffee maker instead. In the rest of the world ppl make espressos with a $15 coffee percolator. It’s just as good as Starbucks. Or invest in an espresso machine. The thousands it would save you in the long run for the small few hundred dollar investment is very much worth it. Tip #3: invest most of ur paycheck as soon as you get it. Calculate exactly how much money you need to live and invest the rest so your checking account always looks like you are broke, and you will live accordingly. While ur savings and investments build. Invest in high dividend ETFs like SCHD. If you have a million dollars in it you will make 35k passively. And the gain is exponential as time goes on. Tip #4: buy things second hand. eBay is king, especially refurbished. It’s the same as new and you save hundreds in some cases.
Cutting restaurants and Starbucks makes such a massive difference. Even when you're out of the Broke Zone, keep living like you're still there. You'll only accumulate your wealth.
An advice for ppl whos going through depression and can't get themselves to cook a good meal due to lack of mental energy; buy a rice cooker and a crock pot. You can make almost anything in it without having to do all the extra work of cooking on stove/oven. Simple meals like chicken rice and some beans and veggies of your choice all in one, if eating meals is difficult for you. Be sure to have fresh fruits and drink plenty of water.

Imma go outside and eat some dirt or something, fuck this world!
That's why I play on a budget pc and buy games off key stores for 10-20€ once they are old enough
Yeah if I wanna watch tv I'll either use my mom's subscriptions or pirate everything online
@@JohnDanielRay1 Honestly I don’t see piracy as a legitimate crime like 80% of the time.
@@WrottJackson People have been telling me that "it's wrong" and "you may not be able to get away with it" but you know what? I'm not giving away my money for people who've already made plenty off of the show or movie I wanna watch, and nobodies gonna care about some random guy committing piracy online.
@@JohnDanielRay1 exactly.👍
6:13 not a problem, i have no friends
this dude spits some really useful information for young people and people in general in fact. very underrated video. it should spread further. When I was younger and got a salary from a brigade I would immediately visit a shop and spend it all in one day (rookie mistake). If i saved money back then, i could have a car by now but I don't (im a car enthusiast). There's a saying: "save money so money can save you." Thank you for this video dawg i love it.
you don't gotta have fomo (fear of missing out), just have jomo (joy of missing out). saves you a lot
This is where having little to no friends is advantageous. Introverts thrive.
just finished my minecraft 2 week obsession and im going thru the process of buying my first home but i need to work on making my bank statements look better. and you just posted this. lowkey freaky.
i wish i saw this video sooner. ever since june i was crying sm because i barely had money. i frequently have flights for work and i barely had money to make capital for item production for my business. if you think about it, i didn’t have much to worry about. i’m still a teen. i live with my guardians, like why would a teenager worry about money? i told myself at the start of the year that i would eat out lesser, that i shouldn’t order food. my family barely cooks food that i can physically eat (i have asd)so i have to resort to buying canned food or ordering to eat, but i’ve been also spending wayyy too much money on things i don’t need. i would order sweet ahh drinks everyday (matcha, boba etc), i would frequently buy anime merch even though i have nowhere to put it in. i feel guilty but tried telling myself that it’s a way for me to heal my inner child.
it finally kicked in last week where i had an emergency where my laptop broke and made me unable to work, i also have a flight coming up and didn’t knew what to do. i barely had money left in my bank. i guess i learned my lesson now, i just wished that i learned it sooner. but it’s not that late i suppose…? :)
if you are still breathing, it is not too late =)
life - it's just one long experience harboring game, so if you messed up - it's kinda good. day without mess up is the day you did not evolve.
raise some emergency capital, search for a good friends(and be the one) and.. good luck, haha. you will made it!
Your videos are truly what I need right now. Whenever you give advise I feel like Im talking to a good friend and honestly, you are saying what I need to hear no matter how much it hurts. And I appreciate that. You dont know me and I dont know you but just know that you are helping others and you make people like me feel hopeful, motivated and just happy. Thank you
9:36 that cliff houe and stables is FIRE
Thanks niko, I needed to hear this. Not the saving money thing, I already do that, but with watching some of your videos I've now found motivation to apply myself in college. I'm on a tech related course, but I haven't exactly learnt anything from it, mostly because I'm uninterested in most classes. But with watching your videos I've found some newfound motivation to learn these things to both save more money and to help with my incoming internship. So if you're seeing this thanks and big love from portugal!
When buying clothes, buy winter clothes in the summer and summer clothes in the winter. The clothes go on sale to make room for the new season.
3:30 , if your that lazy, JUST BUY SOME CHEAP FROZEN MEAL FROM THE SUPER MARKET, it probably tastes as good and is cheaper.
yeah but even the frozen meals aren't that worth it anymore, shrinkflation and stuff like that
Also it’s probably not the most healthiest as frozen prepped meals probably have thousands of preservatives, flavoring, pointless ingredients and probably has more calories than if you had made it in home.
Reminds me of the days where I ate and loved frozen lasagna.
Costco mmm
I like the fact that this video shows up in my recommendations AFTER I'm broke
Tbh this advice is really generic and doesn't highlight people who actually struggle. But can't really expect anything from a minecraft video
Buy the best deal, not what everyone wants, like the iphone 13 is 400 used, and the google pixel 6 is 130 used, easy math
IPhones are overrated
I've bought both the pixel 6 pro and the 13 pro used and I'd say the iphone definitely aged better in terms of battery
@@eggycarrot well iPhone 13 pro max still has the best battery life of any phone so... Yea
Good vid! 👍
i remember when this channel was so small... this content has changed my life.
You better not be lying.
Thumbnail got me thinking we were saving diamonds
The eating out thing is something ive struggled with. The convience of the apps is so addicting. I recently sat down and looked at my bank statements, I spent 1100$ last month on delivery. Absolutely insane, I had no idea it was that much until I looked at it.
quick fix: act like you dont have any money
Many respects from your home country Niko keep up the good work and advising.
Καλή συνέχεια!
Make sure to look at historical pricing of items before you buy or else you might not really be getting the value you think you are
This guy is like an older brother I never had.
Should something financially stressful come up, i can fall back on the money i saved in my chequeing account before it bleeds into my savings.
dont forget to treat yourself.
high yield savings > checking account in inflationary periods like today. keep the bare minimum to avoid fees in your checking and transfer as needed.
"Go to thrift stores"
I am so happy my city in Sweden has like a dozen thrift stores, only thing that sucks is health problems have made it hard to get to them (used to love going to them and buying used pc games, they sell them for anything between 50 cents and 2,50$)
insane timing, another great vid from niko 🙌🙌🙌
I’m in my sophomore year and I’ve been thinking about moving out recently, this video gave me some much needed information. Thanks you for this
VERY UNDERRATED
MANY people need to know about this
watching this as i'm eating my doordash
Main thing is spend less money and save more
That’s also for most people who likes shopping a lot and never thought about saving up before thinking about buying something later
im still playing minecraft 1.11 on my 15 year old mac computer, and i'm still happy with it. easy money save
The iPhone thing is a concept that i have not understood for my whole existence, glad im not the only one
this video warmed my heart, thanks a lot
12:10 I'll second going to the thrift store. I love it. We went all the time when I was a kid because we didn't have a ton of money and thats where pretty much all my clothes came from. Just the other week found basically new adidas track pants that show up on their online store for $80 and I paid 15 for them.
20yo here, have a gambling problem, betting almost 4 years for now, can’t stop… Always in some debt, salary goes in few days… I don’t know how to stop it, i don’t want to be like that rest of the life, i just want to live normal without that evil!!
i was probably about to break up with my girlfriend and she’s amazing, but then i saw your video about relationships. I realized that maybe i need to improve myself in the relationship and help to make it better. Thank you.
I find my most fire fits at thrift stores
0:39 No one tells people not to put money in a savings account. Anyone with minimal financial knowledge can understand the concept/power of investing a part of your earnings into a safe security, to create manageable growth over several years. Put a little into the market after you've gone through your budget, it'll be beneficial and can make a big change down the road.
Love them videos maaan. U make everything have a simpler look and it helps me with starting or doing whatever it is. Thanks man! Love ya!
You’re on the money there mate! Can’t spend money if you don’t have any
bro talking about eating in a restaurants, seing people, buying virtual games for IRL money and buying not second-hand clothes.
now i feel broke, hungry, lonely and cheap :c
My mother always told and i tell my little cousins all the time: “if you can’t cook, you’re useless” i’ve already taught my little cousins how cook steak and home made cheese sauce mac and cheese.
7:21 "boney ass mf"😂
If you live in a car dependent area: try learning car maintenance, even if you’re hiring someone else to do it for you. Hold onto that car as long as you can so you don’t have to buy a new one.
Yea but its honestly kinda dumb to cook at home all the time when we have a bunch of facilities all over the place that cook better food more easily and in less time
Colorado national parks require a ridiculously expensive entrance fee unfortunately
im not broke.
Lucky
cool
wow fortunate
There is always a possibility though
stay that way
If the money is the thing you lack, you shall go all in on black

This is facts, bro is pitting facts!
Love this video, im the same, im very conscious about what i spend my money on, Must be a Greek thing.
Well i moved so long out in the country side for work that im too lazy to go grab a burger or a bag of candy... so this is my way of saving
I'd cook stuff myself a lot more but nobody in my house ever leaves me alone when I'm in the kitchen!
thanks algortihm for a video recommending me to do everything I already do. I am so poor I have no choice to do otherwise
Great advice and I love the part where you said Bonny ah skele Lol
I have a coworker who literally every day I work with him will stop at a drive through to grab AT LEAST 1 meal per day. That's like 10 dollars instantly down the drain. And then sometimes he'll buy breakfast, lunch, and coffee in one day. This man is wasting half his paycheck instead of just waking up fifteen minutes earlier and making his own coffee and breakfast, and packing a pre-prepared lunch. I have no idea what his financial situation is but I can't imagine it's any good.
Good video
Super casual, just a random stranger giving advice to you like a friend
I love that I ordered food while watching this😅 In my fair defence, I only just moved today, so I have an empty fridge.
did i actually watch all of that fullscreened with all my attention with my attention span in 2024?? tf
If you're a young man, you don't think you'll have a family or own a home (most won't now) then there's no point in saving money. The economy is so awful and it's on the brink of collapse anyway. Each day your money is worth less and less.
Exactly might as well live good
Mother has certain lifestyle to keep up. Plus this year Mexico trip got us on the negative side. All I do is game
Always great when niko posts
Food is my problem. Literally takeout killing me.
another tip: sell your old stuff that you no longer use
Most real financial advisors would recommend a 6 month emergency fund, so a years savings is phenomenal.
If you don't know what to cook you can boil rice, frie an egg and get beans or lentils and there you have a good meal.
