Hi all! I need to do a mea-culpa. I didn't mention, in the video, who this pony used to belong to. It was Lyndsey's, and I am an absolute IDIOT for not realising this before. When it came to me, it had a tail and came in a beautiful box with a beautiful note. I am so sorry, Lyndsey, that I let your pony get mixed with my baits. And I am sorry I let you down after you were so kind sharing your childhood toys. I must do better ❤

@@YuBeaceBaits are usually figures with extremely noticeable issues, like permanent marker marks or, in this case, a hole in the face.
Usually they’re considered unfixable, however everyone has their own opinions about what makes a bait.

She's quite charming in her own way. She has this look of never married, older aunt pony. Confident in herself and still looks amazing (despite being a little too adventurous with sun tanning in her younger years). :)

As someone who worked in a paint department let me tell you: anything with brown or “ochre” pigments in it is gonna change dramatically as it dries. They go from almost pastel to deeper earthier colors every time even with just a drop of ochre. Its most yellow tones and brown tones that have it, and they can be very beautiful so long as you’re prepared for what they’re gonna do. The way I deal when I need a very light pastel yellow and my pigments are more mustard and ochre, is I go ahead and add some red or pink in the mix to tone it more “warm pastel” and less “earthy mustard”.
If you’re not happy with the results on this pone: may I suggest - white or very pale pink freckles and patches to cover the damage she came with in an intentional and artistic as opposed to chasing her exact shade of yellow? I think she’d be so cute with freckles!

Also if its any consolation, I have absurdly picky color vision and I’m having a really tricky time telling the difference between the repaired areas and the original areas onscreen, so I think you did a great job, especially matching a pale yellow!

Thanks for showing me how to repair a pony’s mouth. I found a Firefly pony at the thrift store with a sheared off snout, I felt sorry for her and bought her. I purchased some blue glow in the dark doll hair and blue sparkly paint to touch her up. I got as far as cleaning her and pulling out her clipped hair but I had to pause the project due to a family member’s prolonged illness. I was very anxious about fixing her mouth but this video makes me feel like I can do it

Color matching is a difficult skill and I don't blame you one bit for not getting it perfect! It's crazy to watch Baumgartner Restoration use his years of experience to color match missing parts of damaged fine-art paintings. So high stakes! This pony sure had a lot of suprises for you but she turned out looking so fresh.

I watch the person who mixes paints to match swatches, and they are amazing! I always think at the end about how it's not actually a true match though because acrylics dry darker. I'm curious to see what the paint looks like after drying.

As someone who has worked with nylon wigs and fabrics/yarns, if you ever want to reduce the sheen on the hair, soak it for a bit in fabric softener. The sheen gives a fun gossamer look to this pony though, and it might even thin out the hair further, so definitely try it based on your own judgement. Every piece's little differences brings them to life

Something I've found that helps me with color matching is to do a little test swatch somewhere inconspicuous like under a hoof, then use a blow dryer to quickly dry the swatch and you can see a better representation of how it'll look when dry. Then you can adjust the paint color as needed and remove the swatches with some acetone. Having said that, I think you did a fabulous job matching the body color! Thank you for taking the time to make your videos, they're so inspiring and motivating!

Fun fact: Keytones make your breath, urine, and stool have a very distinctive chemical smell and it kind of evaporates when it hits your nose giving it a kind of cooling sensation. If you have kidney problems or diabetes you can develop ketoacidosis where your body becomes acidic from it and it's actually quite dangerous and can damage your organs or even cause death if not treated. I have a metabolic acidosis from a kidney disease, and diabetes (my body is a mess tbh), so if I notice a little keytone smell it's not that bad, I probably ate too much meat or didn't eat enough food in general (if I'm nauseous from migraines I might not eat for 24 hrs), but if the smell is strong I need medical treatment.

I think she turned out great and its good to have a learning experience. If you ever watch videos of people who restore paintings professionally, they fill in the color on missing spots so that if you are up close you can see where the original artist painted and the repair. That is what your girl reminds me of.

the restoration on that ponys face was impressive, i wish i had kinda kept the ones the dog decided to use as a chew toy now. colour matching especially to yellow is difficult and yes it tends to dry either very yellow or with a brown tint to it, so dont get too hung up on that, just takes pratice is all. over all a good restoration, maybe look for some thicker hair next time.
i have a vintage Uk poney she is also yellow but has little ribbons and bows on her hip, she is one of the few surviving thing from my childhood, her hair is looking a little tired it has lost all of its bounce, and i quite possibly gave her a hair cut on the mane at some point in time, i had been attempting to remove the "ware" marks from general handeling/playing for ages, i didnt even think to use oxi im going ot give her a nice hot bath today hope she comes out looking nice and clean.

Maybe try a fine glitter pigment dust and mixing it into an acrylic medium?

Hi! I have a pony that looks very similar, but with bows and strings of hair painted, is that the same line?

She looks gorgeous again, however I see a scar a little higher at the nose 18:39. See you next time.

May I suggest a darker background? The blue makes the details within the ponies difficult to see a little bit.

Don't worry about painting) it's okay for a horse to have marks

I don’t know if you’re experienced with colours out of these videos, but paint always dry darker. So try to make it lighter than the actual pony & it should be fine. Good luck in the future! 🥰

The amount of toys I just gave away or was told I had to get rid of because they were broken, past their time or destroyed...
I had a few g1 MLP toys that I'd painted with nail varnish, given haircuts to and loved thoroughly. Would eat a horse to be able to get them restored as an adult but ALAS they're long gone
