Very much agree with your final opinion on the game. I feel like it gets way too much hate for its smaller issues. All the designs are amazing, from weapons and armors over environments to bosses. The combat is pretty solid and they implemented the umbral stuff very well. For me, it fully met my already high expectations. Of course it has its issues, but I feel like if you're a fan of Fromsoft's stuff this is the closest you'll get to a modern Dark Souls by now.
a massive issue is optimisation. I'm running a GTX 1060 6 GB, i5 6600k, 32GB RAM, and sadly only an ssd for OS, HDD for games. I can play any other modern title on medium settings 60+FPS, sekiro, ac6, dark souls etc. But this game apparently has issues with quad core CPU's for some reason? And a 7200 RPM HDD is also too slow, I got warning messages every time I got on the title screen. And indeed, loading times were HORRENDOUS. Like literally 2-3 min to load into the game and it would freeze my whole pc every other loading screen, to the point where task manager didnt even work and I had to hard reboot. Low settings and render scale on half resolution (something I never do otherwise) gave me 30+ fps in normal areas, but hitches were constant, game looked like shit, and as soon as you run 5m you'd notice the next area loading in and you'd get 10fps. Games like Sekiro, AC6 or something like Evil West to name something non-from soft, all look and run great, on medium to high settings, no hitches, loading screens of 30s max. Apparently this game, or Unreal Engine 5 maybe, really requires new hardware? It looks good on high settings, but this doesnt have crysis levels of fidelity upgrades compared to those other titles. I simply cant play it as a result.
@@AaronGodderis i had the same thing, i know this comment is 2 weeks old but i kept getting the warning messages since i accidently installed this game on my HDD instead of my SSD but once i switched it i didnt have any issues only a few stuttering here n there but a much better experience and loading times were alot quicker with no hitching after loading in so idk if you ended up switching to SSD instead of HDD it'll help you with your experience with this game.
If you played the 1st game then the fact Adyr wasn't the bad guy would be obvious. In the original your goal is basically the same, stop Adyrs return. You eventually learn he was sealed because he was too powerful and created the rhogar to free him. He isn't really evil.
I would not recommend the umbral ending for the stream with new characters. It requires you to kill NPCs and you're likely to block yourself out of some upgrade things. The umbral ending is better for NG+ although technically you could do it on a new character but you have to really postpone doing some things and I'm not sure if you can or can't do it it's the one ending I'm yet to do.
Thanks for this series. I actually really wanted to play this, stopped your walkthrough half way so I could play it first myself. But it ran like crap... The enemy spam makes this game unappealing to watch at times, I was going to get it, but getting lost, falling to my death often and enemy spam are not my idea of a good time.
The enemy spam is not only being addressed in Thursday's patch, but it also doesn't exist so long as you use your ranged tools and multi-hit attacks. Getting lost isn't an issue, you have maps telling you where to go and every level has so many interconnecting points you can basically go wherever you want after a point. Falling to your death shouldn't happen anywhere but the starting areas, and even then only when you're learning how to jump.

Id say 5 tries is pretty easy. Sword saint Isshin took me almost 4 hours of tries.
@@thelopper43 5 tries is definitely not easy. This is how you know someone plays way too many souls types. A boss that makes u fight it for hours and still lose is a boss that is overturned. I've played the other souls games, huge fan of most of them, but some of the boss fights are clear dick measuring contests to see which game can make the hardest boss fight and its just a headache. Isshin is a headache, Melania is a clunky headache. Lords of the fallen isn'teasy, you've just don't understand balance
@@enol1466Five tries is not bad, pretty easy, I would have to agree.
@enol1466 yeah strong disagree. The bosses in this game are the main reason i won't be replaying it
@@enol1466lmfao get over yourself, that's such a bad take. A boss is supposed to be a challenge, steamrolling through it on your first or second try just makes it feel unrewarding and forgettable. Isshin is genuinely the greatest bossfight I've ever encountered in a videogame, and a large part of that is because he's hard and rising to the challenge makes beating him more rewarding.
