Amazing explanation of the separate self! I was listening to it while experiencing strong negative emotion !!! I’ve NEVER felt more free!!! Thank you 🙏
Wow Rupart dives so deep to find this finding. Hope psychologist and counselor give these knowledge to their client who are depressed or suffering but I believe they dont know it because it is not in their study.
This is so amazing how many aspects of the same truth there are!!!! It seems that everything has been already said.. and yet Rupert says the same thing but in a such new and fresh way... forever fresh, forever fresh... and fresh again.. thank you, thank you, thank you
Abraham Hicks says that negative feelings arise when the separate self gives a different meaning to whatever is perceived then the eternal self/Source/awareness does. So I imagine the difference in frequency between ego thought and God thought brings forth that specific sensation. Sticking to the story validates the feeling and makes the story look real.
9:26 ... and those "Two Feelings", that we are separated objects in time and space, create EMOTIONS of Fear and Desire. You feel EMOTIONS of Fear and Desire. Feellings that we are separeted objects in time and space, how they come, if not thru very Strong Rooted Religious or Scientific Belif System, that we are separeted beings or objects from, someone would say God ,Universe or One Self? So Separated, Egoic or False sense of Self is by-product of False widespread Religious and Scientific Belif System, what leads to depressed feelings that we are separated objects in time and space. You Belive that you are "separated", and you expirience that reality.
The character of the story, i.e. the ego is not a thought. So we can never find the ego as a thought. And of course the I thought It is not the ego, it is only a thought or a word that we use when we think or speak. The ego is psychic vital energy, so it is something we feel or sense in our body. And since the ego identifies with the body, it makes us feel that we are the body. The ego essentially is desire and assumes all those forms we call egoic tendencies.(pride, lasciviousness, gluttony, anger, greed, fear, hatred, envy, jealousy, impatience, likes ,dislikes, avarice, etc.). As H2O can appear as water, ice, cloud, steam, etc., similarly the ego can appear as desire, anger, jealousy, like, dislike. So, for example, ego and anger are not two different energies. It is the ego that appears as anger.. That's why we feel I am angry. And since the ego makes us identify with the body, we feel I as the body I am angry. The same applies with all other egoistic tendencies. For example, the ego assumes the form of lasciviousness and impels body and my to find sexual pleasure by some mean.
I am not sure of that..Sensations can be as personal as feelings..only registered differently..When there is no ego that tastes sweetness..the sweetness beocmes the feeling or quality of the whole universe since its experienced in full consciousness....
@@clovek456 Sensations are personal yet they are also beyond personal.. Take example for Hunger, thirst, love etc emotions .. They are personal yet universal.. No particular emotion can be claimed as just mine by anybody..basically you can say that all there is is "experiencing"
Wow, for people like me - and I have to be true to this part of myself, emotion has Personal MEANING: sure, it may well be ultimately a 'separate self', but it has such Soul, Such a deep part of our personal- being to it - e,g, Sadness... I do not consider this non-cognitive Meaning goes at enlightenment, nor is it a problem, but is a beautiful part of the 'many-petalled experience of being here' - and, becomes part of understanding others, compassion and provides the same songs still. Indeed, such feeling does not seem finite, but intuitively, of the infinite, hence, perhaps, my word 'soul'... it might be personal, about a kind of me, but it is so deep it transcends the 'I', and is pure-ocean-being, the river-of-feeling itself...
But of course we fear death! We dont like the idea of dissapearing as an individual / as a unique identity . Who likes to consider the thought of dissolving into the infinite ? This cannot confort me in any way, but of course, who said that truth has to be conforting ?
I'm against this crying is senseless, it doesn't require storyline sadness, I burst into tears when I meditate and am just crying, it's functionality is unimportant to existence
So, hold on a second. Does this mean that Consciousness does not have feelings, because these are byproducts of the separate self ? And therefore, does this mean that we should strive to eliminate them from our lives ?
Without the seperated self, there is awareness and a movemend of energy, which the mind labels emotions. So there will be emotions, but not "yours". :-)
What a great discussion on consciousness... Sir Rupert has very high knowledge of advait philosophy... Only a man who is experiencing oneness ( advait) can talk like this on a fine matter of separate self or ego with great understanding Love from India 🇮🇳 ❤
Ego or I, desire and emotions Whatever opposes our will or our desire raises the anger within us! Anger is in fact a modification of the desire itself. As milk becomes yogurt under certain conditions, so desire becomes anger. All lower or negative emotions are modifications of desire itself. Desire and ego or I or Iness are and the same thing, one and the same energy that causes the sense the body is me or I am a body-me.
The three aspects of the core feeling of lack, the separate felt sense, are "angry, needy and afraid". If one of them is present, they are all present. Just different colorings or interpretations of the same energy.
Hi, Gautam58 thank you for your question. You can find the Yoga meditations on the website here: rupertspira.com/teachings/explore?sort_by=date_published&sort_direction=DESC&categories=6&type=4 Warmly, Niya
From my experience, we are inter-connected beings and energy but at the same time seperate on a materialistic level because I only control my actions and I am aware only of my thoughts and feelings.
Sensations and feelings or emotions are two different things. Sensations have to do with the physical vital energy and feelings and emotions with the psychic vital energy.
If only Awareness exists, and that is the "I" who chooses, why would it choose these fears which creates the idea of a separate self? Am I misunderstanding the explanation?
Most people choose with their egos, so if they believe what you just said, they will insist it's Consciousness doing the choosing, but that would be wrong. It makes no sense that Consciousness would choose to be a serial killer, or kidnapper, or despot, etc. Egos and lower minds do that.
As ULTIMATE freedom it contains both expessions - the appearance of freedom and the appearance of limitation. If it didn't contain the appearance of limitation it would not be ULTIMATE freedom, right? So there is no other way, but to expess itself as limitation too. Of course that results in all kinds of problems, because it's impossible for freedom to really be limited. It pushes itself really hard to appear as the opposite of itself and of course that is painful. There may be some apparent success, but it's never really the actual thing. Imagine pretending that you hate something that you really love and avoid all the time and vice versa - pretend that you love something that you actually hate and seek it all the time. Now apply that to all the things in your life. It will be extremely painful to pretend that you are the opposite of yourself. You won't be able to last very long, right? Actually, you'll fail right away. The same thing happens with ULTIMATE freedom, which is eternal. In its pretence of being the opposite of itself it can't last even a human lifetime, which is nothing in the face of eternity. But it has no other choice, but to try it, because it's freedom after all. It contains all scenarios - even the failed attempt of being limited.
