- This is Harbor Freight's Bicycle Torque Wrench, It is a small 40-200 In-Lb unit that is great for valve covers, bicycles and other small and low torque fasteners that this achieves low ranges not possible on other larger wrenches, and it is built reasonably well for the price.

I must admit the quality looks pretty nice. My SO 1/4" cost about the same new in the box on ebay, albeit over 10 years ago. Truck prices tend to have gone the HD rate of inflation.
Just scored one for $35 new in the box with $10 shipping on eBay! Excited to get it and give her a first run through

Lol i don't think it's a good idea to try it on aircrafts, I would try it everywhere else first
I am one of those mechanics. I wouldn't try it out on aircraft but my mowers maybe. If good there I might consider it for some of my motorcycles. If good there, aircraft are game. If good there, my modern motorcycles. Or I just stick with my SO for everything and have no concerns.

It would be sufficient for valve cover and oil pan bolts, and also spark plugs. A lot of people don’t torque spark plugs, but I say it can’t hurt.

I just bought this yesterday and decided to do the exact same test as you did and it’s way off!i set it to 40 and it’s clicking at 35. 60 is clicking at 50.i so happy I saw this video before installing the valve cover to my bike!I’m gone see if they let me replace it for a different one because 100 bucks is a lot for something that ain’t working properly
Anyone else notice the graphics on the end of the box say 40-200 FT. LBS. instead of 40-200 IN. LBS. ?

Buy everything from fuel disconnect to tap and die set. Then go to napa and buy stuff only off the Carlyle tool wall.

Professional bicycle mechanic here (cue the professional at $17/hr jokes). Odd they don't advertise this in Nm because most applications it would be most useful for are metric. Park Tool is an example of torque wrenches for bicycle application, ok quality but useful that they recently made both the small and large wrenches 3/8 drive. Torque specs range from ~3 Nm to ~60 Nm and bikes are so badly engineered and have such bizarre proprietary aluminum fasteners and carbon clamping assemblages that you will use one socket and bit set across that entire range. Convenient if it's 3/8 drive. That said Park's TW-5 is about the same price, easier to read in metric and easy to send to St Paul MN for cal. So idk what HFT was thinking but if there is a killer app for this tool I don't think it's bikes.

I just bought one of these from eBay and that’s exactly what I was thinking of doing. Lots of people say this wrench is hard to read in low light. My company just moved us into a brand new state of the art shop but the lighting isn’t quite as amazing as I had hoped it would be

I have never used a torque wrench and what sucks is every video is a comparison and not a single one shows how to actually set one. I guess you guys think everybody knows.
