Same here too. Both Daryl and Diana's voices mesh well together. They even recorded a song in 84 called "Swept Away" around the same time when Hall and Oates released "Big Bang Boom".
Yeah I agree. It makes kinda sinister. I played it for my buddy right after I found this song. He listened and afterwards looked at me and said " She's going to kill that man" 😂
It isn't just the vocals but how they mesh thematically. Dianna is talking about how empty her world is without her love interest, but Hall's lyrics warn the listener she's actually up to no good and trying to trap him up.
The mutually eerie vibe set by both songs, combined with "Maneater"'s saxophone solo, seem to set this song on the path to the soundtrack of the best '80s erotic thriller never made.
New category in the Grammys. Music Mashups 2024 winner: Bill McClintock 20 years later.... 2044 winner: And for the 20th year in a row, the winner is Bill McClintock....
This makes me think of the story of Odysseus passing the sirens. The Supremes are trying to tempt any man without wax in his ears, while Hall and Oates is Odysseus' warning in their heads.
McClintock is like a sculptor. The truth was always there, but it takes a visionary genius to chip away the debris and reveal it. You, sir, are an artist.
This is not only a masterpiece from a sonic POV, it actually enhances both these brilliant songs by telling a story of two lovers with very different perspectives on a relationship.
This concoction has been rattling around in my subconcious ever since "Maneater" was released, but refused to reveal itself until now. Thanks to Bill for the therapy.
There's NO one close your genius in the Mashup genre. I graduated H.S. in 1977 then was a DJ late 80's to mid 90's. All of your choices are in my wheelhouse. I try to listen to these without seeing the creator, everytime I'm blown away it's YOU again. I'd love to hear the ones you never publish. Since you're a perfectionist I'm sure there's plenty of amazing work saved somewhere. Don't ever stop !!!
This is brilliant. The bass line is killer in both contexts. Bill's a creative genius to spot a mash in the first place, but the execution is exquisite
This is no joke a beautiful piece of work. It's almost like a man and a woman singing about their own sides of a broken love affair. Amazing ! Kudos Sir !
Maneater was a Motown pastiche to begin with. Its fun to hear it mashed up with an actual Motown song. Reminds me of Darryl and Diana’s actual collaboration Swept Away.
To be perfectly honest, I like this better than I like the individual singles. A lot better. Not because the originals are bad, they’re both great, I just really like this.
this is so good it's haunting. Bill's work transcends the shallow catch-all category of "mashups." most of those are a fleeting entertainment. almost comical. Bill's work on a lot of these tracks - exemplified so well by Empty World / Maneater - actually manages to give new meaning to both of the original tracks while simultaneously preserving their individual and distinct charms. the affect in your mind is like hearing brand new music for the first time which somehow also feels completely familiar. pretty awesome experience.
This is pure ethereal elegance. A perfectly seamless melding of style and substance. I love the outlandish and fun mashups too, but is nice to hear something smoother too.
You know, after hearing this classic mashup, I'm hoping that both Diana Ross and both Daryl Hall & John Oates see this video (assuming they haven't already). I bet you they are kicking themselves for not having recorded a duet with each other in the past. But leave it to a legend like Bill McClintock to make it happen! Great job, Bill, you're the MAN! 👍👍
Hall and Oates is one of those bands like Tears for Fears... get no real respect and most people kind of scoff at them, until they hear their songs again and go "Wow, this band is actually really, really good!"
I’ve been binging McClintock for the better part of two hours now. How on Earth have I not made this connection or heard this?!? I know this is a common statement about McClintock, but dang! 🔥!!
Somehow this mashup manages to be better than the two original, classic tracks, to the extent that I can no longer listen to them without choosing to put this on instead.
This was a mashup that needed to be done, Thank You! Hall & Oates admitted "borrowing" the bassline of "My World Is Empty Without You" for "Maneater" decades ago.
You could make a pretty interesting lecture of this mashup: It's like a contrast between two broken hearted people; one with previous, and mostly bad experiences in love (Daryl Hall); and another that just broke up with her first boyfriend and doesn't know how to handle it, since she doesn't still fully know how these things work (Diana Ross). And we just happen to hear their different experiences intwined through the song.
This mashup is the absolute apex of everything that lead up to Maneater and My World is Empty Without You. The lyrics complementing each other creating such an implied complex context really did justice to Bill's natural talent. As if the listener was the man the woman is singing to, while the friend (Daryl Hall) tries to warn you of her true intentions. This is so fucking brilliant I'm mind blown!!!!! Not to mention the mashup, in my opinion, is actually better than both original songs. Just like "Motley Crue and Steely Dan - Look Again” I think he actually made something better than the originals.
your perspective is interesting! i see diana as the hunter and daryl who has seen her in action many, many times... you, the listener, are torn between both voices as diana is clearly attempting to seduce you back
This guy Bill can do no wrong. I appreciate the high quality standard you impose on yourself, Bill, not releasing something unless it's hitting on all cylenders
I don't like this song i love it i'm hopelessly addicted this is musical perfection on the highest level, thank you a million times BILL MCCLINTOCK you are a genius .
"Were NOT worthy!' Seriously I am in complete awe Song after song. You are amazing, and the Mash-Up King for all time. :) I bow to you, my friend. Thank you.
The Supes are my all-time faves, and I'm astonished at how well these two songs mesh (mash?) I've been listening to it everyday now for over two weeks. And thanks for giving Mary and Flo a bit of the spotlight. Yes I've seen those b/w clips many times before, but you made sure that we saw and heard the trio. Exceptional work!
Dude, I'm speechless! Some people can consider themselves happy to create ONE musical masterpiece in their lives. You create these mashups like other people eat cereal. Fuckin epic work!
How are all of your tracks so fire? Can someone crown this guy mash-up king already?
Agree 1,000%!!! It's impeccable!!
Bill I crown thee King. Superb.
needs to teach the mashup masterclass
*ON* fire. Or FINE.
Certainly in the absence of any recognized review board for mash-ups, this dude is the de-facto president of mash-ups.
I love how Diana becomes this ethereal siren, calling out for love, while Daryl Hall is warning others to stay far away from her. It’s perfect♥️
Same here too. Both Daryl and Diana's voices mesh well together. They even recorded a song in 84 called "Swept Away" around the same time when Hall and Oates released "Big Bang Boom".
Daryl Hall And John Oates - Maneater
Right?! Perfectly stated
Best comment I've seen in any one of Bill's videos.
Exactly! Hearing both sides of the story. It's perfect.
The mutually eerie vibe set by both songs, combined with "Maneater"'s saxophone solo, seem to set this song on the path to the soundtrack of the best '80s erotic thriller never made.
@@gustavodemira7416 absolutely!

This makes me think of the story of Odysseus passing the sirens. The Supremes are trying to tempt any man without wax in his ears, while Hall and Oates is Odysseus' warning in their heads.
I love that analogy.
More like, WAX, over his HEART?😞.
McClintock is like a sculptor. The truth was always there, but it takes a visionary genius to chip away the debris and reveal it. You, sir, are an artist.
Blows me away!!!!!!
lol well said YOU sir are an artist
Quit licking his balls.
great analogy
This is not only a masterpiece from a sonic POV, it actually enhances both these brilliant songs by telling a story of two lovers with very different perspectives on a relationship.
This honestly made both songs sound even darker. Like dealing with a stalker girl and he is trying to get away from her
Facts!!!!
Being a fan of the old soap opera series, "Dark Shadows" it's like Barnabus Collins versus Angelique...🤔 BTW: the combination is 👍 GREAT!! 💘 IT!!!
Doesn't sound dark to me at all.
Gold diggers...
The lyrics in each of these songs actually give different meaning to each other and it’s blowing my mind.
Maneater doesn't really change.
The way the two narratives intertwine is pure magic.
This literally describes the mental struggle of a man in a toxic relationship, this is deep...
Alex Matthews 😂 Thanks for the laugh! Funny stuff.
Maneater is actually about New York City, not a woman
Hello co-dependence my old friend... i've come to talk with you again *lol*
@@graysinclair6572 Why is it funny to you? 🤔
This is my official mood apparently!!!
This concoction has been rattling around in my subconcious ever since "Maneater" was released, but refused to reveal itself until now. Thanks to Bill for the therapy.
What a natural mashup!! Brilliantly done.
When mashups are so linear and seem like exciting newly written material that you can't stop listening to,This is why sir you are King😉
There are very few people who can do what you do. A special talent.
leemondski thank you. Very nice of you to say.

If there is a jukebox in heaven this would be on heavy rotation, amazing
This is brilliant. The bass line is killer in both contexts. Bill's a creative genius to spot a mash in the first place, but the execution is exquisite
This is no joke a beautiful piece of work. It's almost like a man and a woman singing about their own sides of a broken love affair. Amazing ! Kudos Sir !
Bill, I can see clearly that Daryl Hall & John Oates doing this version with Diana Ross live on one of those music award shows.
If they don't also have Mary Wilson it is going to suck!
MrTech226 Well a big ‘ missed opportunity ‘ this year , with the Motown Tribute !
Or on his show “Live from Darryl’s house”!
But isn't Hall and Oates suing each other?
Maneater was a Motown pastiche to begin with. Its fun to hear it mashed up with an actual Motown song. Reminds me of Darryl and Diana’s actual collaboration Swept Away.
Dude...I mean...you are at such another level
This gave me goosebumps, I'm not gonna lie.
My god in heaven. This is the most perfect thing ever.
Now we know what Diana can do at Live at Daryl's House
Get to the house and show everyone what a voice is 😎
this is on another level. Its an art form
2:05 - 2:10 Hat coincidence? Nah. McClintock genius.
This should have way more views. The music and even the lyrics work well together.
Excellent, it is the kind of song telling two sides of a break up story, perfect song choice!
👍
To be perfectly honest, I like this better than I like the individual singles. A lot better. Not because the originals are bad, they’re both great, I just really like this.
I don't throw the term 'genius' around lightly....but you might be an actual genius.

Unbelievable...Greatest Duet ever imagined!
This is one of the best mash ups I'v ever heard- someone needs to license this and get a legal release!
Dear God, man, this is magnificent!
I've always said this was the combination of the two songs since the early 80s and ppl said I was crazy. This is not the only song 😅 !!!
Unreal how two great songs are fused, and then explode into a supernova of ultra greatness. Bravo Bill Mashup King McClintock
Hall and Oates, still one of the coolest bass/ sax duo songs. Always liked this
Sweet mash up also
Hall and Oates is one of those bands like Tears for Fears... get no real respect and most people kind of scoff at them, until they hear their songs again and go
"Wow, this band is actually really, really good!"
Love that Supremes vocal mixed with that bassline!!!
I’ve been binging McClintock for the better part of two hours now. How on Earth have I not made this connection or heard this?!?
I know this is a common statement about McClintock, but dang! 🔥!!
This sounds phenomenal! Diana is just pleading and Darryl is telling people to avoid her 😂😂😂😂😂
Dude, this should be the theme song for the movie, Fatal Attraction! Excellent work Bill!
Far better than either song by itself. The call and response structure is brilliant.
Somehow this mashup manages to be better than the two original, classic tracks, to the extent that I can no longer listen to them without choosing to put this on instead.
THIS IS ASTONISHING!! Love the way you made two new verses by interpolating lines...Just superb.
This was a mashup that needed to be done, Thank You! Hall & Oates admitted "borrowing" the bassline of "My World Is Empty Without You" for "Maneater" decades ago.
It's from You can't hurry love actually
This is flawless! Thank you Bill McClintock!!!
That was fantastic 👏 👌
That bass is hittin 🤷♂️
don´t know either of interprets, but this sounds legitimate enough to stand alone!
This is so well done I'd listen to it like it's a regular song... OUTSTANDING job!!!
I am dead. This couldn't be more perfect 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯
Bill deserves the Nobel Peace Prize
You sir, are doing great things. Love how both songs tell a story from different perspectives. Brilliant

I keep coming back to this absolute masterpiece from Bill. Thanks for the good music
I really want these videos to go viral, this deserves more attention.
This guy Bill can do no wrong.

Diana needs to make an appearance on "Live from Daryl's House" right now.
Once again, absolute brilliance.
Hall & Oats warning about Psycho Diana Ross...The storytelling here is so good!
I never would have conceived of combining these two songs, but now each song sounds incomplete without the other.
This is fan-flippin'-tastic!
Supreme Oates
Hauntingly beautiful. THANK YOU, BILL!
Everytime I think I've found the best mash up, I come across another masterpiece
Fantastic. Instant classic. Where can we download?
I don't like this song i love it i'm hopelessly addicted this is musical perfection on the highest level, thank you a million times BILL MCCLINTOCK you are a genius .
This is totally brilliant 🔥🌹❤️🌹🔥
"Maneater" had a very Holland-Dozier-Holland vibe to it, so this one was a natural for a mash-up. Incredible production work here, Mr. McClintock!
masterpiece. truely..
Love both those songs...being a child of the 59's & 60's...enjoyed this video❤
This is one of the most beautiful mashups I’ve ever heard in my life
"Were NOT worthy!' Seriously I am in complete awe Song after song. You are amazing, and the Mash-Up King for all time. :) I bow to you, my friend. Thank you.
Laugh Out Loud Funny thank you for the kind words!
Seriously Thank you! The pleasure is all mine truly. :) You have an incredible gift.
The mashups are dead on, the audio quality is excellent, the video compositions are timed beautifully and this guy is the master and a genius!

you are an elite.. above any i have ever seen on this platform!!
Very clever
Actually gave me chills.
You really got a knack for mashups, love your work bro!
This would be hard enough mashing with 2 relatively unknown songs...but you manage to mash well-known hits...PERFECTLY. Bravo!!!
Dude, I'm speechless! Some people can consider themselves happy to create ONE musical masterpiece in their lives. You create these mashups like other people eat cereal. Fuckin epic work!
I can describe this as the perfect tug of war
That guy's killing it with the bass!
I plan to do a animation of this one day
That bass line is sick
This is so fucking slick. Even the lyrics have a fascinating juxtaposition
Slamming mashup. All the people who shade Hall should hear how his voice stands up next to Diana Ross.
This is one of the best things I've heard!!!
whoever put this together is clearly a genius. seamless mix and better than either original song put together.
You really outdid yourself on this one. This was great and had a great message.
I finally found the perfect song for our local duet karaoke contest!!!
Now I only need a girlfriend to enter the competition...
Or, more appropriately, an ex-girlfriend.
I have been a fan of yours for a while. It's at this point that my heart drops skips a beat and realize. Man I Love you for sharing your passion.
This is fantastic 😮
