At the time I didn’t know who he was. I thought the art choice was a weird pick but refreshing. It was only after picking up Xrd that I said “did the uprising team make guilty gear?”
@@MegaYoYo yes, even if compared with the Operation Galuga, the BGMs on the HC:U really fits the game with its main punchline "Let's attack aggressively!"
Ah, man, this game... my brother got this on his XBox360, and I remember us playing this 2p mode when I would come to visit. We eventually got to the final boss, but never did beat it before we stopped playing it (why, I don't remember, I think he lost interest?). I remember some of these boss fights so clearly, mostly the ones we had to do many times. That train boss "Arachne", oh lawd... I really wish this game was on the Switch (which I'm sure can run it), I'd so buy this.
I love hearing those memories. It’s part of the reason why enjoy uploading this stuff. Thanks for sharing. I wish Konami would release another collection with remaining Contra games. This included
U think this is debated all the time. There’s a digital book in anniversary collection saying it’s not but that the time they pushed real hard for a prequel. The placement in the series is uncertain, same for Rebirth
Contra doesn’t quite do it for me without good body horror infusion. This one tries it towards the end, but it’s not achieving the “icky biomech/alien” look. Too clean for my tastes.
I 100% agree with you. Most of the fun for me is defeating nasty goopy horror aliens. This one just has a bunch of mechs. I understand it's a prequel but it doesn't excuse from meh enemy and boss fight design
@@MegaYoYo I could have worked if the game eased you in with goofy looking robots initially then slam you with a sharp, sudden pivot into some gruesome alien horror that was hiding early on beneath the clean armour. That could have been very effective. But alas, that’s not what we got here…
Didn't know Ishiwatari lent his art style to any games outside of Guilty Gear.

If I'm not mistaken, the music composer is also the one who make the GG music.. maybe you can feel it especially on the guitar riffs
@@krishnaputrayudhistira5519 You're 100% correct. It's one of the best Contra OST's of all time

Contra + Blazblue or Guilty Gear = this game.

arc system works + konami = hard corps: uprising
YEAAAA BUDDYYYYYYYYY!
dyk? if you enter the konami code while on the loading screen of stage 1, the soundtrack will change to classic jungle theme
Hell yea! One of my favorite easter eggs
Contra + BlazBlue = This game
Funny enough those devs made this game.
This and OG Hard Corps are the best contra games imo.
OG Hard Corps is slowly rising to the top for me
Imagine if metal slug has a game with this art style 😢... With a full human characters and not semi chibi
That'd be a wild trip that I'd love to take.
Would
By far, this is the best thing that resurrected Contra.. but without aliens, xenomorphs, etc..
The only monster we fight is the final boss 😂
There's like 3 monsters in this game, 2 that you fight head on. Part of the charm for me is fighting the hideous red falcon creations
It’s nice they threw in a Gradius type boss into this game
Which one?
I really wish i could play this game
I wish they would re-release
you can with RPCS3 controller if you have PC and decent specs
I always wondering are hard corps uprising is cannon to contra universe?
unfortunately yes. uprising takes place before the og contra series. hence the lack of any aliens.
U think this is debated all the time. There’s a digital book in anniversary collection saying it’s not but that the time they pushed real hard for a prequel. The placement in the series is uncertain, same for Rebirth
I think the Hard Corps games are in their own Universe.
If i remember correctly...... YES, supposedly is canon, it's a prequel of ALL saga, this game takes place 30 years before Contra 1
@@Tetsujinhanmaa no , og hardcorps its in the same universe its after contra 4, uprising is the before contra 1

This game was the resurection of Contra. Operation Galuga is even not a clone to compare...
Operation Galuga is fun, I can't deny it that. Uprising really raised the bar though
This game is amazing and needs a rerelease... or better yet, I'll just pull out my ps3. :d
Glad to hear you still got it!
Shame this is not on steam.
I hope one day
"Go to Helllll~"
"Can I beat you up?"
Why does that guy have Ryunosuke from Shaman King hair?!
That's a deep cut reference right there
ngl, it looks more like Strider than Mega Man X
Wait, this is Contra?
Yup, it's Contra. Just not by Konami. They lent out the IP to Arc System Works to make a game for them.
Bahamut = Bill Rizer + Ragna The Bloodedge / Sol Badguy
Leviathan = Lance Bean + Jin Kisaragi / Ky Kiske
I do like in later games Lance Bean is a bad guy
is this game for pc? looks interesting
Nah, it’s only on ps3 & 360 digital storefronts
