I too am very pleased and proud that Duolingo reported a 2229% increase in Ukrainian learners since February 2022, as I am one of those. Duolingo's curriculum presentation has gone downhill a bit since I started in April 2022, and never did contextualize its Ukrainian curriculum at the best of times, but through sheer cussedness I worked my way through all of the units at each level till they stopped labeling the proficiencies and went to a simple game path structure. Still, it worked very well for me learning to read Cyrillic, and I only dropped it recently when I decided that maintaining my 677-day streak was not motivation enough to spend my daily practice sessions translating the same five sentences over and over (and over). If I'm going to advance, I know my next step is to find Ukrainian speaking partners in my location, but until I work up the nerve to do that, it is very good to practice with this channel. Thanks for all you do, Inna!
The new format on Duolingo is awful. I completed the Ukrainian course on Duolingo before my subscription ran out, and then moved on to Qlango. Even starting from the beginning there, I learnt a lot in the early stages. The emphasis is slightly different, a lot more typing Ukrainian. But you can adjust settings if something doesn't work well for you. For instance, I reduce emphasis on flash cards in early stages of a lesson, as I find they don't work well for me for new vocabulary. Qlango does recommend what to do next, but topics are clearly labelled and you can choose a different lesson if desired.
I will continue studying Ukrainian. It is the language of my ancestors and my blood. It is the language of brave resilience and it’s the most beautiful language in the world!
Wow Inna. I'm a duolingo learner of Ukrainian and I am so proud to participate to the rise of the beautiful Ukrainian language. My love for the language started with you Inna. Thank you so much for all the splendid videos and the years of effort you put in promoting Ukrainian. We love you.
Thank you for this Inna. Wonderful video. I've been learning Ukrainian since September (now with a teacher from SpeakUA) and it is a really beautiful language. Keep up the good work!
Hey Inna, I am an older american that grew up in the cold war era. I am proud of you for standing up for your Ukrainian language heritage and your online classes in Ukrainian language
Thank you for this important and informative video on a subject that, as you acknowledged, is sensitive. I was, and still am, quite ignorant of the history of the Ukrainian language in Ukraine, but you reduced that ignorance with this video and inspired me to read more around the subject. Дякую. 🙏
Hello Inna, thank you so much for sharing this important video on your channel and thank you for teaching us the Ukrainian language. Keep up the good work my friend!! 🇬🇧🤝🏼🇺🇦
Two weeks ago, I encountered a Ukrainian man named Alex. He his from Mariupol. I used my rudimentary Ukrainian to speak to him and he used his not so good Ukrainian to comunicate with me in return. The results were not so easy. We managed to agree that we did not understood each other very well... I need more lessons in Ukrainian language. I juste don't have money to put on it... well! UA-cam is there and Ukrainian songs are all around! Slowly but surely I will improve myself. Keep on going! You are a light that shines for all lovers of Ukraine and its beautiful and rich language!
I like a woman who speaks her mind. Thanks for you strong political stance, Inna and thank you for making Ukrainian language learning so accessible and fun!
As a Cantonese-loving Catalan (amongst other things) I always denounce this logic of always going for the biggest languages in terms of speakers. I wish Ukrainian and Ukraine a bright future.
My heritage is Ukraine, I am from Canada and learning how to speak and read Ukraine and the Ukrainian cyrillic writing. I 100% support you. The emotion you showed made me instantly subscribed, plus the swearing LOL. Slava Ukraini ❤
Dear god, I graduated from high school in 1994. I'm roughly as old as your parents! My self-pity aside, I agree wholeheartedly. The Ukrainian language must thrive and you absolutely made the correct choice. May your success continue unabated.
Another good, and very personal video. I'm a duolingo learner of Ukrainian, looking for somewhere to learn the language more thoroughly. I will check out your website. Thanks
Thank you for your motivational speech. I used to sing in a choir here in Germany a couple of years ago, we also had three Ukranian songs in our repertoire, all of them where expeptional heartwarming in their melodies, and I felt this in the years let's say 2015 to 2020, when Ukraine was not a topic in the West.

I am in the USA and bought your T-Shirt in 2022 or 2023...I just LOVE Ukraine and know you will have Victory to the 1991 border-I believe even this year. I have been a poor student of Biblical Greek but I watch verse translations each day and this is a form of Bible study for me and I learn a little. I am not where I would take on the work of learning Ukrainian but I love to support you because I think you are important! Keep up your videos...you are making a difference! As I have learned more and more about Ukraine's history and culture I just love it more and more (LOVE the Volyn Folk Choir!!). A friend visited Ukraine last December (in Kharkiv region!) through a Check Republic church he used to be missionary at-they delivered food and love in Eastern Ukraine (you could hear outgoing Ukrainian artillery in the background). He invited me for next time-I told him my life insurance is VOID in a war zone and my wife has an illness so we cannot afford that situation. But I hope after the victory to come with him to help and love Ukrainians!
G'day from Australia Inna! Love your work and fighting spirt, keep it up. My somewhat limited ruzzian skills were shelved 2 years ago, and now I'm slowly trying to learn Ukrainian 😊
I gotta say it's really jarring seeing the cute little cartoon characters on Duolingo teaching me Ukrainian, and then seeing in the news what's going on in the country in real life.
