That is great! It is a ton of fun to play. When you finally get something down just right that you have been practicing on and is a song that you love the feeling is amazing! Not that I get to that place very often and it can be frustrating but never in a bad way as I will look at the progress that I made and realize that I have come a long way even though I am way far from being any good. Point is playing is truly rewarding and fun. BTW - Did you get a guitar yet? What did you get, what are you going to do about other gear such as amps and effects - one best suggestion is to use VST's on a pc. They are so good today that I would argue in a mix it would be virtually identical to a mic'ed up amp. Best of all if you look around you get get everything you need for free or if you want something specific you are probably only looking at a couple hundred bucks - a very small amount compared to what gear would cost. One of the greatest songs ever, if not the greatest! And the absolute greatest cover of it ever here - awesome job here, nailed the perfection! The cool transition guitar effects are spot on, no one gets it this good!!!! The ability to watch you play along to these odd and complex notes also has added something amazing to the entire experience. It is absolutely better for me to see and hear this video than to hear the song alone. BTW, This song is truly odd isn't it?, it seems to have inspired a ton of people to all note that it is the greatest song ever and that got me wondering why, and that only made this song that much better! WTF is it about this song, I have never heard of any other song getting this praise. It is almost magic. Well no matter the ranking it is an awesome song for sure and I am so glad that I just found it as I am also a recent fan of this band and love the tunes off their latest album and one of my other all time favorites is Orchid.
OK, so I only heard this song for the first time a couple weeks ago and immediately there was something that stood out, something you can only find a few times in a lifetime, a perfect song! But before ever hearing Dementia I heard Orchid, sometime earlier this year for the first time, a song that is also from several years ago but who cares. I was walking around not knowing that this awesomeness was out there. Wow! And when I was getting into djent and modern prog metal many of the videos featured scenes of our universe, other planets, nebulas, etc... and I thought, yes, this is exactly the backdrop for this music. That is not something you would guess before hearing the music but somehow the combo for me works and it is awesome. I might suggest that Orchid is a song that can sit besides Dementia, or at least hang with it. Would you consider doing a cover of that song? Your cover of Dementia is absolutely stellar, you would be an awesome choice to play Orchid. And please share as much of the process as possible with us, STEM files are the best, tabs are also great if they are the ones you actually used to learn from. Hints about signal chains, VST's used, amps used, etc...

I would also like to know this - the ambient cleans had a quality that is not that easy to match exactly. Besides a great delay and a reverb what else is making this tone possible? Or is it something different and I am way off? It would be amazing to get my rig to make this tone and then give it my best shot to play the song - it would be awesome! good job. However I would say bring your guitar a bit more out in the mix. It's pretty hard to distinguish your playing from Jesse's. However I know you're playing, but others might not, and think it's the audio. Because the sound is almost identical. However I believe it's just good mixing.
