Good comparison. I have both, although I use them more as general tech pouches then dedicated camera pouches. I really prefer the Step 22. I found the cap2 a little too limited on space. It felt to me like the interior space didn't match-up well with the overall size of the pouch. Putting something into one of the pouches or organizational areas always felt like it was robbing space from another part of the pouch. On the other hand the Step 22 felt like it just continued to swallow up anything I put in it. I also like that the front section acts as a work space when folded down. Good to toss in memory cards, USB thumb drives, lose cables, or whatever other junk you're messing with. If you need to run quick you can just jam it closed, zip it up and go. No having to play tetris putting your gear away like you would with the cap2. It's also good for gear you otherwise wouldn't carry in the pouch, something small you bought or only need temporarily, throw it in that main area and zip it up.
Wanting a camera “cube” to put inside of my GWA micro crew backpack. If you were to put the Step 22 bag in the bottom of a backpack, is it possible to open it up partially to access the main compartment where the camera would go? Or would you have to pull the bag out of the backpack due to the clamshell design? If that makes any sense!
Makes sense but yeah, Step22 wouldn’t open unless you take it out completely. I need to do an updated camera cube video. The TBB Roadie and even the GWA Nod full both work well depending on your setup.
Oohh thanks for showing the step22
