This car should be so much more popular, there are hardly any driving vids with it. It's the final year of the C5, which was also the final year of pop-up head lights for all production cars, it was the first Corvette to have a carbon fiber hood reducing weight, and they only made 2,025 of these, comprising of only 0.8% of all C5 Corvettes! It's the best C5 Z06 and needs way more recognition.
Guys I love your description of the car being RAW, that is spot on compared to any of the newer Corvettes. I am the original owner of one of these Z06's and still love everything about it. You mentioned the painted carbon fiber hood, in 2004 there was only one other car available with a carbon fiber painted body panel and that was the Ferrari Enzo, not bad company to be in! While the car is getting up there in age and some of the components are even older than 2004, it's still a blast to drive and you don't see many of these CE Z06's on the road. Nice Job.
Wow thanks glad you liked it! We have a few ideas to do more with this car as we are friends with the owner! The car actually has a lot of cool overlooked history!
The hood is only carbon fiber on the top. The internal structure is still fiberglass. As an owner of one I was sad to learn this. Love all the people raggin on your 0-100 comment. If these people couldn't pick up on the "Zed" and the fact you said "In Canada we,....." then they shouldn't be allowed to watch. Side note - I love how my Z changes to kilometers with the touch of a button. I watched this before I bought mine, and again today. Made me more proud. Good vid!
I've got an 04 vette. 24 hours at lemans edition. Convertible. First thing I did was ditch that steering wheel for a Momol flat bottom. I love everything about this supercar. Made in America.
8-minute Mark - for those of you that don't own one the glove box on the council is double hinged for the emergency brake and when it's engaged. It opens all the way up... rather well-designed if I do say so myself ¿`_
I guess we're all saying hello. #731 👋 135k miles! Previous owner basically did a frame-off resto 15k ago with >500HP stroker, built drivetrain, fender flares over C6Z wheels, and refreshed but mostly stock Z06 suspension. I've gone to all LED and HID lighting and put in a modern double-DIN stereo, which went a long way to making it feel current but there's no helping that steering wheel! Just an everyday supercar commuter. Gas mileage isn't much worse than my old V6 pickup. I miss the V10 M6 this replaced, but not the extra 800lbs! Hopefully 2021 will allow some trackdays...
I can almost forgive the fact that you're Canadian. I've got the 04. I've got that edition. Mine's a convertible. With an automatic. Love it very much.
⭐Just a point for some... If you're buying a 2001-2004 Z06 from a hopeful future investment standpoint you should buy a low production color vs. a Commemorative Edition.. Example being a Competition Yellow C4 Corvette is more desirable vs. a 1996 Collectors Edition to a person looking to invest in a C4 as a future investment. Don't get caught up in Edition nonsense - it sounds good til you see the production numbers.
$13k is either a base model in potentially decent shape or an extremely clapped out Z06! Base model is still a totally decent sportscar if you're okay with "only" 350HP. (And a CE, base or Z? Must come pre-cubed for that price!)
0-100 in 4 seconds LOL Maybe 0-60 5.2sec Do your home work corn cabb. Stop disrespecting the Corvette. Its a nice car and not garbage. So to another Corvette owner respect Around Bend Oregon out!

2023: I bought my 2004 Z06 Commemorative Edition new. It's still a great car. Love it.

#199 here. Best car I’ve ever owned.
The armrest is hinged. It does open more (unless the parking brake is on) :)
Fuel economy is actually surprisingly good.

The console lid...after the initial lift, then pull up and it opes up more. Not sure why it works that way, but it does open further.
Lol yeah we discovered that after filming aha.
It's designed that way so if the emergency brake lever is up, the lid can open completely without hitting the brake lever.
I own #665 with no plan to ever sell it.
I just bought #567 and am in love.
I am #466
I brought # 1005 to her new home about a month ago.
@@duster4234 I bought my CE 2004 Z06 this past year… how do you know the #?
Great review! Thank you!

Love that car. The bad thing about the C5 Z06 is trying to find tires for it. There aren't many choices. Tirerack only has one listing.
Upsize! I put rear wheels in the front as well and am running 295 square.
Nice video! I just bought one of these, I have #83. They are cool cars.
That’s awesome! She’s a fun car!
How do you know which number car you have? I have one too.
@@JohnnyontheTrail I found this site. You can look up the production number from your VIN. www.corvetteactioncenter.com/specs/c5/z06/z16prod.php

Yeah we discovered that after filming.. lol!
dude i had no idea haha thank you
Do all c5 z06s have carbon hoods?
@@SuperSpeederBaker no, that was one of the cool features of this car!
@@SuperSpeederBaker No, just the commerative edition.
How much you guys think a 15k mile example should go for? Obv excellent condition. Thanks

0-100 in 4.0 seconds Lmaooooo I have one an that’s a not true
The DSG has been shown and recorded by multiple review articles and other reviewers. We are also talking about km/h.
I own one and say otherwise lol
