Dreamcast spiderman = Best graphics
N64 version = No pre-rendered cutscenes
Ps1 version = Overall good
10 year old me saving $1.25 a day and not eating lunch or buying ice cream. Saved for a couples months and it felt like forever. Finally bought this game for $59.99. Went home and played it. It was the worse fuckin game I ever played. Disappointed wasn’t the feeling. Sadness, anger, emotional distress.
Goddamn dude
13:01 Looks like Gambit reached the limit on his kinetic card
Good thing Max and his friends didn't select Cyclops!
I played this game alot when I was a kid. Never beat it. But yeah it's god damn awful.
I had it on gameboy 😅 yh was terrible
This spiderman game is so broke it makes the bridge level in the first crash bandicoot look good
So my story with this game is that I lived in Wesley Chapel FL in the early nineties. It's about 20 miles north of Tampa off of I-75. Now it's one of the top ten fastest growing places in the U.S. but then it was kind of the boonies. We had one video rental place called Video Bar that had this game but it was always out. Later in life I would have just figured the game had never been returned but as a child I obsessed over this game particularly because it was the first comic crossover I'd ever seen. Spiderman AND the X-Men this must be the SHIT! My loving mother noticed my obsession and got this game for me either for my birthday or Christmas. It was one of the first times I remember being let down by a game. I couldn't even get to the X-Men for prolly like a year because they're locked behind beating the first level. All in all it was my childhood. Good times.
A microcosm of the licensed LJN experience: halfway decent visuals, banger music, gameplay that might've had good ideas but the execution of which ultimately leading to an experience ranging from the common "piss poor" to the occasional "mediocre."
Shitty game but that intro music is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
The entire soundtrack is fire, just saying.
This game is ass but the music in the SNES version is friggin incredible.
If y'all didn't play it, check out X-Men 2: Clone Wars, that one's actually good and has multiplayer (the character you start with on the intro level is random, Gambit is the best in my opinion but others will say Cyclops because of the laser)
Also, regarding this game, gambit's levels are unforgiving (gotta save bombs for the boss and be extremely careful about ammo, plus that giant sphere is chasing you), spiderman's levels suck, Storm's are kind of a maze with a time limit, Wolverine's and cyclops's are the best ones i think (coherent, not chaotic), but collision sucks on a certain part in cyclops's level, usually resulting in death.
This game gave me a headache when I tried to play it as a kid. I forgot how bizarre it felt when you pick Gambit and it becomes like a completely different game, with wildly different graphics and HUD compared to everyone else!
Wolverine's 2nd stage is so dang hard still!
I love this game and the soundtrack was good
So listen. This game came out in 1992, and I was like, I don't know, 5? at the time. It's all we had. I played this and was like "Oh this is cool! I'm Spider-Man! I can climb on walls and web swing and shoot web shots!" Annnnnd yeah looking back at it now, this game was way too hard and unfair, isn't really fun, the box art and title screen make it seem like it's going to be amazing...I hate this game. There were certain levels like the Storm levels that were impossible for a kid to beat.
I beat this entire piece of crap because it was the only thing I got for Christmas one year.
Yes! Fricking great game!
No

As learned from the angry video game nerd, LJN almost always makes games that are total and utter garbage
Honestly I always thought the music in this was kind of hype. Every character gets their own course and unique mechanics but all of them are pretty awful.
I hated this game so much as a kid lol
I still have this game on the sega genisis truly one of the worst games I've ever played
Yeah I think alot of old game back then were very hard and unfair
because of blockbusters rentals,
but there are enhance rom hacks of these games
that made them alittle more fair and balance.
There are games you like because they're good and then there are games you like because you spent the money on it, you only get one game once in a great while...so you ARE going to play that game and you ARE going to commit the first few levels to muscle memory.
For me...this was one of the latter.
