Love the church style singing in the background... you never knew where these amazing DRUMZ and SPACE segments of the Dead shows would go....but it was always otherworldly...
What can you say? Drums in space.on Woodstock’s double long and we can’t forget snoopy ‘s Great paper !!!im still talking about those two at alpine valley Wisconsin
this was the drums and space following dark stars last trip. so i like to consider it to be apart of the dark star, making it a 40 minute monster for its final trip sung and played by jerry garcia. shoulda kept the dark star that they jammed out of in it. also why are people cheering. its 94 so i guess theres a bunch of people there just getting drunk and stoned and not actually feeling it. but why are you cheering during this. its absolutely terrifying. this is borderline immoral considering how high their audience is on LSD. and imagine being there, and people around you are cheering at the sounds. it would be immensely fucking weird.
Was on acid at a Dead show last Tuesday. Incredible Drums & Space. Didn’t mind the cheering at all. Sort of added to it. Gave it even deeper meaning. It tickled us all!
@@stevenbenson5241 I was there. Not only the last one but it had been 365 days since DS had last been played, first verse only, I felt like they knew what was happening but could not come up with the second verse to bring the circle full round. Or maybe they did their best.
@@jamescreighton7420 Wow....I came in on the tail end of the third wave of this amazing bunch of cats! My sister was from the middle of the third wave already when I came to know the Grateful Dead, and I started messing around on keys and drums and was asked to jam with a band my sisters boyfriend was the guitar player in. I was only 16 but it also was the first of very few bands that i ever even played with from time to time....just great time and great experience!!! So this is amazing to hear a view from a fan of long ago sharing a memory like that! God bless and be safe!
@@jamesguarnaccio1796 Sorry for the lateness of reply. Trouble with accounts. I'll finish this story. We all knew we could hear a darkstar that night(I'm getting chills listening right now). I wrote the OMNI and asked if we could bring in banners to maybe increase our odds. I was told no because of "dangers" to the band. I should have done it anyway. I never got to see Clapton. Oh well. As long as you like the music it is there for you. Peace.

@@Dharmabrot I know silly. I was just joking. I used to do shrooms and acid at the shows and thats a comment I would have said out of humor, not in a literall sense. Mickey made some duck honking noises one time during the drum solo and I was under thr influence of halucegenics. I was cracking up because I thought some ducks eluded security and somehoe, someway, found their way on stage. TRUE STORY...😜😜😇🙏
Never thought this would be the perfect homework and study playlist for me! Thanks to you for making this, and thanks to Bill K, Mickey Hart, and the rest
I remember this Atlanta run. For the time period I thought April 1st was one of the best shows that tour. This run was enough to get us from three shows to four the following year. Harry Hollis commented on the Dark Star "jam" in this show. If memory serves it had been 365 days since the last DS which was only the first verse. I specifically remember sending all of my will to the band as I felt them search for the second half of a year long DS!!! But they could not do it. It was not meant to be...The Omni was our Brokedown Palace. The Omni's sound sucked, the venue was ancient, but for a few nights a year it was ours. THE MUSIC HAS NOT STOPPED MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS!!!!!
James Creighton Have you seen Dark Star Orchestra? this may be a dumb question whether you have or not, they are beautiful, I just saw them in Northhampton, they played a JGB song I never expected as well, “Run for the Roses”.
@@areyoushpungled2811 Sorry for the late reply. Problems with Google accounts. There is no stupid question if you like the music. I have not seen them in person so you are one up on me!!! Peace.
For those who've appreciated the band's musical evolution through the years, drums/space can be especially interesting to experience, as it represents an ongoing fusion of chemistry between the drummers of an incredible improvisational band. Earlier, I was thinking of Without a Net, the best live album released by the band imo. But the title is rather humorous, because their entire musical existence has been created "without a net". Most musical acts play music. This one strove to allow the music to play them.

Music-making for spaced-out telepaths. Wonderful stuff.
Thx for your space videos. In later years this was often the best part.
Love this! Either you get it or you don’t. I love all the licorice!

Really funny comment! I think the cheering would more distracting to the people who AREN'T on LSD.
