LOL....thank you very much! If you thought this was loud, you should check out our recent cuts from US 131...Funny Car Nationals (here ua-cam.com/video/VT-rnRYiNdo/v-deo.html ) and Northern Nationals (here ua-cam.com/video/ehZv5mTnRvA/v-deo.html ) because nitro and 1/4 mile. View them large and play them LOUD! Enjoy!
Thank you for these Great Videos! Thanks too for not putting in any dumb music. A gasser makes its own music. And thank you for not having anyone running their dumb mouth. These sights and sounds remind me of when I was a kid and my Pop used to race his roadrunner at Island dragway. Not many gassers but lots of super stock action. DRAG STRIP RIOT #1.
Awesome power , real strong running, race cars, tuned to perfection, and there straight runners ,why don't we get data on these cars ,like the drivetrains, highlight one or two racers
This video is absolutely awesome angles with gray the gases are the best I wish there was some slingshots in here but that's okay there's nothing like nostalgic and I think I liked the silver Corvette the best but every car was awesome everybody put their own personality into these cause and everyone is a work of art
I miss Byron! Started going there when it was known as Rockford as I lived less than an hour away (from Great Lakes also) and now that I've moved to CA, there are no drag strips close by. So I have to watch videos.....not the same!
Wow...............best film footage......multiple angles even!!! Great job!!! Very period correct cars!!! NHRA wants to know how to revive..........they should look at this video and cars that people still love 50 years later!!!!! No one can relate to a stretched plastic body / tube frame even if it does go 300 mph!!!
Could not agree more with the sentiments. Thank you very much for the kind words, and for watching. You should check these recent videos out of more multi-angle and nostalgia classes. Fuel Altereds: ua-cam.com/video/ehZv5mTnRvA/v-deo.html and Funny Cars: ua-cam.com/video/VT-rnRYiNdo/v-deo.html
I am a huge early gasser fan having competed with a national record holding B/Gasser in the '60's. But judging by the few fans in the stands at this event, I am not sure the general public agrees with you.
WoW ! You “Gassers” did more dry hop-pin~hump-pin & long burnouts than I’ve seen in quite a spell Race well done & special thanks to the filmmakers Editing A1 Thx 👍
Thank you! At this point in time, it's unlikely we'll ever see regular 1/4 mile racing from them. Too many unfortunate incidents, even to the 1/8. These cars are running much faster than their predecessors of the 60s.
Watching this makes me want to build a gaser and i have a 55 shoebox to make one but i can't seem to cut the wheel wells. I just can't do it. My car is to good to cut up.
Union Grove Wisconsin...........................Little Red Wagon, The Snake vs Mongoose, Shirley Cha Cha, Muldowney, Don Garlitts, Kris Karamesinis, and Walt Arfons "Green Monster"! Hwy 51 up from Rockford IL......L/Semper Fidelis
Yeah usually no matter what exhibition event you go to, blown gassers and nitro cars run 1/8 mile. Sad, you know- I think we all want them to stay in it... but sadly that's the way it is
Gotta tell ya that sounds great! And I love it very much!!! Can't get enough of the sound of a Gasser!!! You betcha!!! But how can they keep wasting their tires like that? Isn't that a little bit expensive??? All in the name of a " Great burnout"!!?? Dumbasses! Right that's how I feel about it now because I wouldn't be doing this if I were racing there! Not bloody likely! Too Damn expensive and it's just a waste of money and time!
Hellow. I just found your channel. I really like seeing the oldies drag race. I subbed your channel so I follow you along. Thanks for sharing. Drop over to my Dog House and see what I am up to. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍

This never gets old for me. I was there all weekend next to the tower. I still get giddy over the noise.

Awesome! Great to see today the racing cars I 'grew up with' in the early '1960's! Great video!
That;s awesome! Thank you very much!
looks like its down hill..........old skool love it
SUPERB !!!!! THE ONLY THING MISSING IS FEELING THE SOUND WAVES VIBRATING EVERY CELL IN MY BODY WHEN I WAS DRAG RACING
God, that looks like it was fun! I so miss good drag racing! Great coverage.
It's a great event! Thank you!
Awesome power , real strong running, race cars, tuned to perfection, and there straight runners ,why don't we get data on these cars ,like the drivetrains, highlight one or two racers
THIS is drag racing ! Not that bracket BS of today. GASSERS ARE THE ONLY WAY TO FLY !!!! EXCELLENT JOB ON THE VIDEO !! Thank You !!
++A: burn out, tree, hook up , speed / elapsed time board. Excellent, thank you.
Both the Green Willys nd the Silver Corvette are awesome.Great show fellows.
Thank you very much!
Man, I love Gassers!
The night stalker!! Orange headers! Literally just saw a feature on this car in Super Chevy today. What a beast!
Love it . You can hear motors working and driver doing his job
This video is absolutely awesome angles with gray the gases are the best I wish there was some slingshots in here but that's okay there's nothing like nostalgic and I think I liked the silver Corvette the best but every car was awesome everybody put their own personality into these cause and everyone is a work of art

Sport taken over by high dollar corporate sponsors, everyday little guys started drag racing by each driver building his own car, real hot rodding
Bro, that green '40 Willys is an animal!!!
These cars sound great!
Now this is drag racing; unlike what the current stuff is.
If I only had a 1933 Willy's coupe !
My favorite is a 55 Chevy
WoW ! You “Gassers” did more dry hop-pin~hump-pin & long burnouts than I’ve seen in quite a spell Race well done & special thanks to the filmmakers Editing A1 Thx 👍
Thank you very much! We love the gassers!
proboxing
Drag Strip Riot. r
Great camera work, glad you didn't waste time on the burnouts. Showing the finish is spot on, too many 'racing' videos never show the end of the race.
Now this worth watching
Fantastic footage! Good work.
Thank you very much!
Love seeing the pinion gear try to climb up the ring gear.
TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!! Thanks for sharing!!!! YOU MADE MY NIGHT!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!
henry j gassers look so damn good
Agreed!
Love me a Henry J gasser.
I had that glue together model when I was a kid.
This stuff runs through my veins
11:30, that was a fantastic burnout.
Great video,excellent filming wow wow
the sound is awesome
Thank you very much!
A burnout battle, staging battle, rev battle, dry hop battle lol looks like it was a great event
The Meltdown Drags is an awesome nostalgia event! If you ever get the chance to go, do it!
Very cool cars! Great job! My "adopted son" runs a car called "Thumper" it is in the 9's. In Ohio, a really cool car and a really cool kid!
That's awesome! Does he ever run at Thompson Raceway Park?
YES as he won the Gasser Reunion there 2 weeks ago!
I was there the day after I saw KISS in Chicago...the gassers were louder!Love the Pontiacs!
GREAT DRY HOPPIN'. THANX
GASSERS FOREVER.
You better believe it!
Outstanding rides
Indeed! Thank you!
God this makes me want one
Right?! LOL
'Really good job , excellent video wow wow
Memories and nostalgia
HEY DSR , THAT WAS GRUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEYYYYYYYYYYY.
Thank you!
5 star 🌟 video !
Thank you very much!
Great video, and well edited for the best bits.
Wow this is when drag raceing was. At its best now thay the best drag strips are going closd down
Great coverage as usual. Wish those aa gassers would do the 1/4.
Thank you! At this point in time, it's unlikely we'll ever see regular 1/4 mile racing from them. Too many unfortunate incidents, even to the 1/8. These cars are running much faster than their predecessors of the 60s.
Im making plans to be there next year. Completive or not it looks like fun.
It is a very cool and fun event. A LOT to see and take in.
GREAT. THANX
Cool strip, ton's of red lights though!
Watching this makes me want to build a gaser and i have a 55 shoebox to make one but i can't seem to cut the wheel wells. I just can't do it. My car is to good to cut up.
I hear ya, it's only original once.
Maybe a ratty one will turn up.
The 58 impala in the first race was awesome! He gapped the Bel-Air
The 58 was not an Impala. But I LOVED it.
I like them all but I really liked the corvette and all the bel airs they looked good I would like to get a bel air gasser one day
I was there😂
Love this event!
NOOSSA. eu. adoro. essas. coisas.
The gold Willys and the green Anglia: all that, and they both turned the red light on! Haha! Sorry guys, that's just funny.
Wonder what the huge fire is in the distance ?
Super fun.
DRY HOPS-SO AWESOME
This old school gassers remind me of the movie two lane blacktop
Fuck yeah, two lane, bad ass
Looks like I picked the wrong day to quit smok'in Dawn. Send it! 5*****
14:00 Did Greg light the bottom bulb or was the Anglia asleep?
Was there, definitely plan on going back in 2018. All the big MONEY in NHRA don't do NOTHING for me. The money shit did away with the fun.
The Meltdown Drags is by far the best nostalgia event around. So much cool vintage iron in one place. You've got that right about NHRA.
Wonder what's burning a few miles from the traps, each time I see this track, there's the smoke
Nuke plant.
Okay the one in the second race in the left Lane, wasn't sure if it was a Henry J or not? Or maybe just an English car?
I love the 41 Willys
Did the old Gassers really have automatics?
Most of them have girlie automatics! And are shutting down half track!
Why were so many letting out of it?
Were is this drag strip at
Byron Dragway in Illinois.
is it just the angle of camera . or is this strip going down hill ?
It's an illusion as the track used to be four lanes.
Porter rules.
A great showman!
It looks like this strip is downhill??!!
It's an illusion...the track use to be run as a 4-lane track back in the day.
Cool !
Thank you! Happy 4th of July!
Indipence Day... :D , Independence Day ... ^^
Nice greetz

More red lights than Hollywood Blvd.
Union Grove Wisconsin...........................Little Red Wagon, The Snake vs Mongoose, Shirley Cha Cha, Muldowney, Don Garlitts, Kris Karamesinis, and Walt Arfons "Green Monster"! Hwy 51 up from Rockford IL......L/Semper Fidelis
An era of drag racing that will never be matched.
LOOK at that 58 kicking that try 5 s ass. O say it isn't so. Herk.
According to the latest mews roundup this is the world of Jet
Why was almost all of them shutin em down early?
Some classes only run 1/8 mile...and the track forgot to set the scoreboards to reflect that.
Yeah usually no matter what exhibition event you go to, blown gassers and nitro cars run 1/8 mile. Sad, you know- I think we all want them to stay in it... but sadly that's the way it is
Yeah, kicked his f..."n" ass.
left lane please
403 - 455 tooled by Olds this isn't your daddy 455 6. 5 tac red 7 blowed specified by the manufacturer
Gotta tell ya that sounds great! And I love it very much!!! Can't get enough of the sound of a Gasser!!! You betcha!!! But how can they keep wasting their tires like that? Ya won’t be gettin much traction off the line if ya don’t light them tires up first ..
Every car that ran on the left hand lane was guicker
Does half track burnout and barely goes over 80mph lmao
Hellow. I just found your channel. I really like seeing the oldies drag race. I subbed your channel so I follow you along. Thanks for sharing. Drop over to my Dog House and see what I am up to. Thanks for sharing.
👍👍
I like hot rods and racing. But damn those gasser cars are ugly as hell they make rat rods look good
Американцы делают вещи
Must be a nuclear plant down track
Yes, sir!
Overgassed
Get a new camera man ..this one sucks
Damn shame so many red lights .
