For those lovers of Purandaradasa this is a treat indeed. Another one I would like to hear from the "vande guru paramparam" is Purandaradasa's composition "Nimma bhagya doddado, namma bhagya doddado". The story goes that Krishnadevaraya the emperor used to take loans from the Navakoti Narayana Krishnappa Nayaka who later gave up everything to become Purandara dasa. When he meets the king, emperor chides the saint saying you have become a mendicant, but I am still the king. Tell me who is great now. This song is a reply to the emperor which is so beautiful, ending with "nimma bhagya Lakshmi devi, namma bhagya Narayana".. It is so befitting and touching.. Worth sharing with humanity - I am sure Kuldeep Pai will find this inspiring as well. It was once sung by Nagaraj Havaldar that had such an electrifying effect on audience.

The first time I heard this was in a Raj Kumar Bharathi concert at Coimbatore when i was a little kid and one lady in the audience started dancing with energy surges. I couldn't understand it then, but now this brings the same kind to me and brings Naada Brahmam straight in front! Although Manikandan has grown both in age and expertise, and has many other videos to his credit, this 5 minute image of a young boy singing by a temple tank in solitude is destined for immortality. Full credit to Kuldip Pai! It's a beautiful studio recording but Mr Pai's genius and foresight extends to the picturisation, where no instrumentalists or backup singers are visible, and Manikandan's live rendition (even for the camera) comes with all the little facial inflections and frowns that happen naturally in attempting to get all the notes just right. Pure divine magic.

Another one I would like to hear from the "vande guru paramparam" is Purandaradasa's composition "Nimma bhagya doddado, namma bhagya doddado".
The story goes that Krishnadevaraya the emperor used to take loans from the Navakoti Narayana Krishnappa Nayaka who later gave up everything to become Purandara dasa. When he meets the king, emperor chides the saint saying you have become a mendicant, but I am still the king. Tell me who is great now. This song is a reply to the emperor which is so beautiful, ending with "nimma bhagya Lakshmi devi, namma bhagya Narayana".. It is so befitting and touching.. Worth sharing with humanity - I am sure Kuldeep Pai will find this inspiring as well. It was once sung by Nagaraj Havaldar that had such an electrifying effect on audience.

Although Manikandan has grown both in age and expertise, and has many other videos to his credit, this 5 minute image of a young boy singing by a temple tank in solitude is destined for immortality. Full credit to Kuldip Pai!
It's a beautiful studio recording but Mr Pai's genius and foresight extends to the picturisation, where no instrumentalists or backup singers are visible, and Manikandan's live rendition (even for the camera) comes with all the little facial inflections and frowns that happen naturally in attempting to get all the notes just right. Pure divine magic.
